I bought a Panasonic Lumix GF2 from Buyacamera because they offered the best price at the time, although I did see a few adverse comments about the company in reviews, I also saw very good ones. As it happened, the camera arrived the very next day, with no trouble whatsoever, including an email to say when it would arrive from the courier. The test of a company is how they cope when something goes wrong, and in this case, it was the battery for the camera that was not holding its charge. I emailed Buyacamera and was asked to send it back for replacement. In less than 48hours, I have a brand new replacement. That's what I call service!
Phoned buyacamera to see if the items were in stock (no where else had them) they did. The call was answered quick and so were my questions.
The cheapest on line ! even though others did not have it in stock.
I was worried if this was not EU/UK stock.
E-mail received to track my order.
Ordered on line in the afternoon and my items were delvered next day at 10.30 - Excellent !
All the items were EU/UK stock.
When I need more camera related items buyacamera.co.uk will be my first port of call.
I totally recommend them !
Having read the reviews on here I telephoned Buyacamera to ensure that my camera would be a UK version, they assured me it would be and it was. A most helpful person on the telephone gave me some pointers and the item was delivered next day following a text message from their courier.
I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
A true measure of a company is how it deals with problems so I can only speak from my own experience which thankfully was trouble free.
I ordered my Fuji HS20 late on a Sunday and it arrived 11 am (ish) on Tuesday.
The e-mail acknowledgement for both the order and for the delivery details were fast and efficient and left me in no doubt what was going on.
The camera seems fine. No security seal on the box but no evidence of one having been removed either and all the little packets such as batteries and leads all had their original seals so I assume the box never had one.
The camera also has a sticker with CE on it so I assume it isn't an import.
Next time I need camera gear I will check the Buyacamera website first and if they are competitive I wont hesitate to buy from them again.
I'm a happy bunny :0)
Had difficulty placing an online order as there was a cyber attack on all of Mastercard's payment systems (the Wikileaks attacks) Rang Buyacamera first thing next day, they answered quickly, accessed my details from the attempts I had made to order, took my card details over the phone and warned me that because of bad weather (snow) delivery might be delayed. Sure enough there was a small delay but it did arrive in 48hours on a Saturday (no extra charged) by Parcelforce.
The camera was not CE marked, so I guess an import, but buyacamera do offer a 2 yr guarantee as standard and it was the cheapest price in the country for a panasonic FZ100. Box had been opened but all present and correct, I guesss just a check by them that content was all in order before despatch. Cardboard not in perfect position (that is how I knew) but that is me being incredibly picky. None of the packaging was in any way damaged or marked, just needed a miniscule amount of tidying. This did not in any way detract from the experience but might be worth a check if giving the camera as a present.
Based on this experience I would unreservedly recommend them because of prompt delivery, prompt phone replies and amazing price
I ordered my camera (Panasonic DMC-TF2) along with a memory card and case. The camera and card arrived on time (although no Parcelforce tracking details), and I'm still waiting for the case (was promised that it would arrive 2 days ago).
The camera I have also been supplied doesn't seem to be a UK/European model - it doesn't show the CE mark on the base, whereas the official ones do. Unfortunately they did not tell me nor did it say on the website that it was an import or a non UK model. The price I paid was £30 quid or so cheaper than others on the web, I wait to see whether the lower price was worth it.
I have asked the questions regarding the CE mark, however no one responds.
Additional comment (01/12/2010)
The case has now turned up and seems to be an upgraded model. So I would add another star to my review
Ordered a Panasonic ZX1 red - apparently in stock on Mar 9th for next day delivery.
Got email from buyacamera to say it had been despatched, but no tracking number.
Did not arrive on the 10th. Contacted them on the 11th, they said they would chase it up. Said parcelforce had lost it, and would despatch another. I asked for a tracking number - none given.
Did not arrive on the 12th. They claimed Parcelforce had lost again!!
Only good thing - refund given quickly.
I would not trust someone who cannot give you a tracking number.
Would never use again.
After making a mistake trying to buy from Simplyelectronics, this was a perfect experience.
Next day delivery (despite being 3 days from Christmas), clear communications and shipping tracking.
Highly recommended and also very good prices.
Got a good price for the Panasonic LX3, and was delivered the next day - very efficient service. So far not had to contact customer services so can't comment on that important aspect. However the stock is from the UK distributor so any fault in the first 12 months the camera is covered by the Manufacturer's guarantee. After 12 months it is covered by BuyACamera.
I ordered a camera from www.buyacamera.co.uk by telephone at around midday on a Monday and it was delivered next day at 9am - WOW. I cannot understand the previous review (stating USA based) as they are based in Wigan Lancashire UK, anyway top price and service - WELL DONE
