Recommended by Lonely Planet and our villa owner and we prefer supporting local companies rather than the international mob. On the website you click on a nice shiny new VW Polo and they don't take any money upfront - very civilised. On arrival at Lanzarote airport the girl at the counter was pretty unfriendly. The car was a slightly tatty 70,000km Astra, smelling as they do by that point of sweaty tourist. It featured a heroically reluctant gearbox and an intermittent cry for 'urgent technical assistance'. I sought advice at a Cabrera Medina office (in Lanzarote you're never far away from a CM office - there seems to be hundreds). They told me to ignore the warnings. Not very reassuring when you're miles from anywhere and the car is pleading for help. The final annoyance - it was handed over 1/4 full of petrol and I was told to bring it back the same. I hate this. Full tank at start and end is the only fair, sensible way. It was a good price but I'd probably try another company next time.
Having looked around at other hire companies, I saw the good reviews for Cabrera Medina and yet couldn't quite believe it could all be so simple. Although the website insisted that the price was all inclusive, I still thought we might be charged extras on arrival - but no, it was that simple! Car was delivered to the hotel as promised and we just left the key in the envelope provided at the end of the hire period. The car was clean and ran well. No nasty surprises about fuel policy either. There were a few scuffs and scratches on paintwork which I photographed on my mobile (just in case) but there were no issues when we handed it back. Would definitely use them again.
The car had lots of damage, plus burnt drivers seat and the phone connection had to be repaired by Playa Blanca mechanics. Plus the car smelt. I have used Cabreramedina a lot over many years but would never recommend again, the person at the airport office couldn't care less either.
Our second year of using this group. Every aspect of the transaction was perfect. Brilliant price. No up front payment. Swift attention at the airport upon arrival. Very good quality car for its class. Great insurance package so now worrying during the holiday. Hassle free return process. Oh that all rental companies were as good.
Easy no problem car rental with no hidden extra's and great customer service. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone interested in renting a car in Lanzarote to use Cabrera Medina as I will again on my next trip to this beautiful Island.
We used Cabrera Medina to hire a car at Lanzarote airport, which we pre-booked from the UK. The office was very easy to find from the arrivals hall and with minimum paperwork we were away. The car was in it's allotted under cover and only 30 seconds walk from the office. The car, and Opel Adam, was clean and in good condition. Dropping off the car at the end of the holiday was every bit as easy, again with virtually no paperwork or fuss. I liked the idea that we picked the car up with the tank 1/4 full and all we had to do was return it 1/4 full. None of this nonsense of paying for a full tank of petrol from the outset. I would recommend to anyone.
Great car rentals in Lanzarote - I use them every time I visit. The booking is easy and simple and you only pay on picking up the keys - no hassles or hidden charges!! The staff are always friendly and efficient!
I use car rental agencies quite a lot and have got fed up with sharp practices like charging for a full tank of overpriced fuel when the rental is for a few days, unnecessary insurance & so on. Renting from Cabrera Medina, on the other hand was painless and there were no hidden charges. It took 5 mins to collect the car and 2 to hand it back. I'll definitely use them again.
We arrived in Lanzarote airport from the UK. As usual we chose to book our car through CabreraMedina.com. The price was right and many extras included in the hire charge. We decided to book a 'free roof rack' as we were concerned that the luggage might not fit in the car. The problem arose when we tried to put the largest case on the roof rack and found that the bars were too wide apart to support the case. We returned to the Cabrina Medina desk to ask if they would adjust them. We were told they were unable to adjust the roof rack and that it was normally used for people to transport sofas and not suitcases! Unfortunately we had forgotten to bring our sofa!
