Cars are around 2 grand more than you can get them from at other used car dealerships. The staff will jump on you In order to get a sale. You will then be handed over to a finance person who will tell you you need to take out the car craft extended warranty in order to be accepted for finance. This is not true and it is written on the extended warranty sheet just make sure you take the sheet off then as they will cover that section with their hand when you sign and it is an extra £1400 which basically covers nothing. The cars are poor quality and the 120 point check is a lie. They don't check every car, only a percentage of them to comply with the requirements. Don't trade your car in, they will offer you a joke amount. Sell it private. They offered me £100 for my old vehicle so I sold it privately for £800. If you hand them the keys to your old car, they will disappear with the person who checks your car will disappear with your keys. This is a well known tactic to keep you there longer. Also watch out for the Pervy staff. My wife was chatted up numerous occasions when taking the car back numerous times due to faults. I made the mistake once and it has cost me over 7 grand for a car now worth 1500 and I got it 2 years ago.
I phone them to say I was unhappy with my car due to faults etc and was told I could freely hand it back and swap not for another. This is another lie. They say this to get you down there and will try sell you a new car with the remainder of your outstanding finance on top of it.
They were on the rip off Britain program and have not changed in any way.
I purchased a Vauxhall Zafira 1.9CDTi from Carcraft Sheffield, I also purchased a "Drive Happy Guarantee". The car was overpriced but it had very low mileage. For 15 month's all was well until: the car was serviced, not at carcraft, but by a proper auto mechanic and when he returned he said that it was not running smoothly and recommended that I return it to carcraft under my guarantee. This I did and they said the injectors were faulty and they had to send them to a specialist company for repair. I am over 65 years old and have Parkinsons Disease and need a car to get around and a car is a necessity so I hired a car for 1 week. The service receptionist was very pleasant and helpful and chased up the specialist company. After 1 week I was told that they had fitted the refurbished injectors but they had to be coded and this would take another 2 to 3 days. I extended my hire car for another week. When I checked about my vehicle the manager told me that it was running worse than when I took it in so they would need to check it out. I had to extend my hire car for another week. Carcraft could not rectify the fault so they took it to the local Vauxhall dealer who diagnosed the fault but they had to check with carcraft to check whether carcraft or the Vauxhall dealer would carry out the repair. I finally got my car back after 30 days off the road and I had to pay for the hire car at a total cost of over £1,000:00. I asked if carcraft would reimburse me for the car being off the road for this time considering they agreed with the OFT ” to ensure that repairs to vehicles are undertaken with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time and without causing significant inconvenience to consumers” and I thought my vehicle had not been repaired in a reasonable time and I had additional expense due to the time off the road. I received a letter from customer service to the effect that they do not supply courtesy cars and “we appreciate you may be disappointed with our response" and “the time the vehicle was of the road was not unreasonable”. I then sent a letter addressed to "For the attention of Mr N McKee." under "Private and Confidential" outlining everything that had happened and I then received another letter from Customer Services saying in effect that they do not supply courtesy cars and" my vehicle was not off the road for an unreasonable length of time", the letter then went on to say that if I sent any more correspondence they might not reply and just place it in my file. When my vehicle was at carcraft a salesman had the gall to phone me and asked did I want to trade my car in and buy another from them. The trade in value offered was half of what I paid for the vehicle 15 months previously. Carcraft's "Drive Happy Guarantee" paid for the repair but they want us to drive happy with the guarantee. Drive Unhappy might fit better
I have had far too many problems with carcraft.. the email below is sent to the cheif executive customer service and my finance company. (ignore grammar or spelling mistakes lol)
Dear Noel and any other contact to have received this email.
I am going to keep this email short but straight to the point. I will give you as much information for you to get the relevant information.
I purchased an Alfa Romeo Mito from you in May 2012, registration of YE09 PXP, to which the tracking was not corrected when promises was made. The car had to come back to you pretty soon, for a week for the tracking to be fixed.
I took the car and the repair had not been done. So I took it back to Carcraft in Leeds which they took a look and tried to repair the tracking again. They failed.
I was having to call your showroom umpteen times in a week regarding the problem and it could never be fixed.
It came to the MOT resulting in the car failing because of a track rod being broke and having excessive wear. This was fixed and passed the MOT but the tracking was not.
The cars electrics then started to fail, the windows would not drop properly causing the door not to shut. The windows would drop down and not close at all. Not only that, a extremely loud noise was coming from the engine every time I accelerated. Your service department could not even fix that problem. All they did was oiled the windows up and hoped for the best.
Bearing in mind that at least EVERY 4 weeks I was having to change the passenger side tyres because of the tracking.
After many of phone callsicon to your head office, showroom, service department and my finance company, they all agreed that I could rather have a full refund on the payments I had made so far or choose another car.
I gave you all the benefit of the doubt and just put it down to the car being faulty.
So in July 2013, I changed to a Mini Cooper, registration of DA59 PYZ. Since having this car I have been a happy customer and really liked the car I took. I understand that Carcraft have a certain warranty which I took being the 'Drive Happy Package' meaning that I had to have the car serviced within the first 6 months or 6,000 miles.
I booked the Mini in and it had its service which came back fine apart from them having to take the car back as they had massed around with the computer causing the advisory gear change to disappear. Now around three weeks ago the service light came up on the Mini. So I booked the car in on Tuesday the 28th January 2014 to have the light turned off. This was fine, again apart from the advisory gear change disappearing.
The following week and half, a light bulb warning light appears on my dash board warning me that a bulb has gone out. I checked all the bulbs, wires and even replaced them. This was not the problem as the light was on everytime I started up the car.
The service light has come on again advising me that a service is due in so many miles.
So I had booked the car to go back in for the service light to be switched back off and the light bulb warning light to be checked tomorrow 12/02/2014 at 15:30pm.
As I collected my partner from work last night 10/02/2014, a RED warning light appeared on the screen along with a picture of my mini on ramps advising me that I need to pull over ASAP and get urgent help.
I looked at the book for the car and it explains that it is the electronics of the car have failed and not to drive the car.
I am sure if you take a look back at all the notes of my previous car the amount of times I have been back and forth for the car to be fixed, this is the VERY last thing that I need having a new car from you.
I called your head office and spoke to a very unpleasant, unprofessional, arrogant man. He would not have my car booked in earlier tomorrow nor would he let me explain anything without him butting in and being arrogant with me. I asked to speak to meghan as she is the one I have dealt with through out the appalling service I have received and still receiving. I was told that I was not allowed to speak to her until I have spoken to this man.
In the end, my car is booked in tomorrow at half past eight in the morning and I would receive a phone callicon from Meghan.
In the meantime, I was on the phone to my finance company explaining what has gone on in the past and what is still happening. They have advised me that I should ask you and your finance department to get the ball rolling in regards to a full refund.
I had to call back up five hours later to speak to Meghan to which she was so upset for me knowing what I have been though with the previous car.
I have explained to her that I am not going through all of this again and that I am wanting to go for the full refund option.
I am to await the outcome tomorrow for the car to then decide what to do.
I just want to make you aware that having this problem now happen to me on my second car, that I am not a very happy or satisfied customer. The goods are faulty which are within your 12 Month guarantee. I have also been in contact again with trading standards and they are going to look further into your company to resolve the sale of faulty goods.
They have also advised me to spend under £100 to take you to the small claimsicon court to get the full refund back.
You are the last resort and I want this sorting. Along with some form of compensation having all the troubles I have had with the cars from your company and your company in general.
I am extremely in utter disgust at the whole situation and I am wanting the full refund along with a good compensation.
I expect a reply back from you by the end of tomorrow 12/02/1014 with a resolution to the problems I have had.
I have also sent this to Carcraft Customer Services along with my finance team (Hayley Boyes and Charlotte)
SINCE THEN... I rang the RAC out to come tow the car to carcraft as I did not want to risk driving it on the motorway to carcraft. Although being advised by meghan at head office if the car seems ok to drive then theres no need to tow it, just dont use it excessively. RAC got in contact with carcraft which they told the mechanic not to tow the car, just to find out the problem and fix it on the road side. Which i was NOT impressed with!!
So i had to drive a faulty car, not known to me nor any other driver on the road what could of happened if the electrics had failed whilst driving at a high speed constant flowing pace.
I arrived at carcraft in leeds and asked to speak to the manager. I got the service manager. So I had a rant with him telling him I am not happy that I am having to come again because of another fault on another car, to which i gave them the benefit of the doubt previously by taking the new car.
I then walked into the showroom and I had it out with the manager, who was very rude, arrogant and unhelpful.
I WARN YOU ALL.. DO NOT EVER GET A CAR FROM CARCRAFT!!! AS SOON AS I RECEIVE MY FULL REFUND I WILL NOT BE SETTING FOOT IN THAT PLACE AGAIN!!!!
I WILL BE SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE AS I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE SAY SO FROM TRADING STANDARDS AND THE HIGH COURT THAT THIS CLAIM WILL PASS WITH FLYING COLOURS..
Went in to car craft and decided on a green corsa, did not know it was over priced and when it came down to negotiating a price, me and the salesman decided on a monthly amount of which I could afford. Happy with the price we decided to apply for the finance. After part exchanging my car for £200, giving them a £450 deposit they then came back to me with a higher monthly amount than we agreed. They also said that we HAD to pay a 5 year guarantee which was £2000 other wise we wouldn't get accepted for finance! So in the end up I'll be paying 14 grand for a 2011 car which is on sale for 6 grand in Vauxhall! To make it worse they didn't even minus the part ex and the deposit off the final amount so I have lost out on a car and £450 of my own money! I feel ripped off and lied to! The day I left with car I noticed my breaks made a squeak noise everytime I put my foot on the break, being told that my break pads where wearing out by a mechanical friend I took my car for car craft to look at, watching them out the window test drive my car flying up and down the road at a high speed they came back and said they couldn't hear anything. A year later and I still have the same problem! Very annoyed and frustrated about the stupidly high priced car am paying for. One last thing.. Their service is terrible!
I was emailed and contacted by customer service about Car Craft wanting to buy my car. There is nothing wrong with it and in excellent condition. I am looking for a quick, hassle free sell and thought why not. I drove to the location in Chertsy which was a 45 minute drive. I was met by a salesman who asked if I was looking to buy. I replied "no, I have been asked to come as I am selling." The salesman walked off, shouting out "take a seat" 15 minutes later another salesman says "can I look at your car?." "yes" I replied. We walked out together and he said "no I can not buy it, I only buy brand new cars." I said "this is a late 2009, in excellent condition, no dents, low mileage...ect" The salesman said "I only buy new cars, you get me!" He never asked any questions about the car or looked inside. The attitude from everyone there was so unfriendly, I left with a sour taste for car craft. I will recommend to all my friends and family never to use them.
We visited the showroom and were immediately pounced on by some slimey car salesman. He would not leave us alone. In fact it was so bad that we did leave, even though we saw a car we were interested in - but it was so overpriced and the salesman was so awful we felt that we just had to leave. Never again.
The minute we walked into the showroom we where pounced on by a sale man. We told him several times we where only there to look and did not intend to buy but that made no difference.
Our downfall was when we took an interest in a Renault convertable. From that moment on we where badgered, harassed and relentlessly persued by the saleman. Yes we had a free will, Yes we could have walked out but we tried to be polite and not rude (we should have been) and eventually after FOUR HOURS we signed up for the car !!!
We where promises a full 124 point check, additional warranties, and that the minor scratches we had found etc would ALL be sorted by the time we picked the car up.
Surprise surprise when we went to pick up the car NONE of this had been done. The Manager was called and assured us he would personally oversee the work and so we arranged for the car to go back to them the following week. The work was supposed to take half a day but they rung us late in the afternoon saying they had no finished and needed the car an extra day. 2 days later we picked the car up and everything did look good. The following day, when in town in the car I pulled into a car park and opened up my glove box to get some change from my "parking purse" (a little childs purse I keep in my glove box with a few pound coins for parking meters) to find it was missing - and so were THREE CD'S! I contacted Carcraft immediately to let them know and was told straight away that ANYONE of the staff had access to my car and that there was nothing they could do about it!! I considered contacting the Police but thought they had better things to do than investigate the theft of 3 CD'S and about £8 in coins - wish I had now!
About 6 months later, totally unhappy with the car, I sold it - at a BIG loss. Put it down to experience and vowed never to visit Carcraft again!
Last month I received a phone call from a salesman at Carcraft telling me that it had been a while since I bought my car and would I be considering a change of vehicle in the near future because they had some great new deals in. I immediately told him that I had already sold the car, that Carcraft where thieves, and that I would never use them again. I asked for all my detailed to be removed from their system and he assured me he would do that. About 3 weeks ago I received a phone call from ANOTHER saleman at Carcraft trying to sell me a car again. I told him I had already asked for all my details to be removed from their system and asked why he was ringing me - he said he was not aware of any previous calls but assured me he would remove my details. Guess what - last week I received ANOTHER phone call from Carcraft, this time from their Sales Call Centre. Again I said I wanted my details removing, again I have been assured they would - we will wait and see.
Liars, thieves and stalkers - and they are the good points!!
Got this car in November and it was working fine for six weeks. Then, breakdown late at night from a wedding on a roundabout the car would not go into gear at all. After waiting for two hours I was towed home. The next day I had to arrange for the car to be towed to carcraft in Leeds, but carcraft had no courtesy cars available so I was left without a car.... I used my car for work And caused me many problems, with having no car I had to make the commute on the train. After two days got the car back I had to get the train to Leeds to get it. And they said they out a new clutch in and the problem was sorted. The car was fine for one more day then suddenly it popped out of gear on the motorway and I could not get it into gear at all. The rac came and they could not fix the car on the road side. So it had to be towed to Leeds again. This meant I had to arrange a lift to get me home because I was without a car again. After two more days they had fitted the car again... Or so they say. I took the train to pick the car up. The gear was very stiff. And the gears 5 and r was not working. At this point I had enough and got rid of the car. I was more than disappointed with the 'service' from carcraft. Three attempts to fix the car and they fail. LET THIS BE A WARNING TO ANYONE THAT READ THIS THAT THE CAR MAY LOOK OKAY ON THE SERVICE BUT UNDERNEATH ALL THE SMALL PRINT THERE PROBLEMS THAT LAY WITHIN THE COMPANY. EXPENSIVE, BUT POOR QUALITY CARS AND SERVICE.
I had the displeasure of purchasing a car from the predecessor of this company, Carland. The car was a nightmare, caused me problems from the evening I drove it away and in the end cost me a lot more money than my 17 years car did I owned previously.
When I looked to change my car recently I looked at Carcraft being assured that none of the bad management or cowboy tactics had been inherited into the new company. WRONG!!!! They are still the shonky dealers they were before with the same showrooms with just a different name.
Do yourself a big favour, do not venture near this chain.
In this day and age customer service is everything, and carcraft does not have much. The salespeople pounce when you walk, the only way to get them off your back is to say you are not there to buy. They are not always honest with you, they just want the sale. And when we told them the next day we did not want it (not knowing the law and our rights, as first time car buyers) they told us we had to keep it. Even though they new we has 7 days to change our mind. This year we gave them benefit of the doubt when they contacted us, they were asked to call back that evening and they did not bother, how nice is that. Not sure if I could managed another try or not, I do not like getting burned.
The second you walk in, the sales men are all over you, and they will not leave you alone!! The cars are really rough - I didn't buy, though I know some who have and there have been issues . Try the Car People instead!
