I usually use insure4carhire, but their policy only covers 31 continuous days maximum per single trip. I also found insure4carhire prompt and efficient when settling a claim. However, since my holiday will exced 31 days I opted to use Carhireexcess. I found their website easy to use and understand. Their pricing is highly competitive.
Best choice I ever made as I always use to pay the car hire company large amounts of money for the same excess
Have used Carehireexcess a number of time and have always found them good. Much better than paying the extortionate prices of the car hire companies. Buying on-line is quick and easy too.
I would highly recommend this company. Their response time to settling my claim was very quick. No quibbles whatsoever and to top it all the premium was was very reasonable, saved me a lot of money by not taking car hire companys own insurance.
Cannot praise them enough!
Yes it is true that their daily rate is about half what the desk car-hire staff will ask for when you arrive to collect and are anxious to get on your way. Got a great thrill after his polished spiel to politely decline. Had to sign four boxes right away to confirm this.
The 'excess' Insurer will offer a discount the first time you purchase this specialist cover but neglect to say that an unspecified service charge will be applied so you end up paying their full daily rate anyway. What 'service' you get is negligible as the Policyholder has to do all the graft in the event of a claim as they only reimburse permitted outlay. The number of documents you must present is more than if you were registering a new birth. Their whole 'claims' department could be run by one cashier.
The site was easy to navigate and the price was right.
i booked a day hire in ***** but immediately after i wanted to book three days in ***** and it said oops mistake please contact us. with respect i didnt have time to ring someone as life is easier online. i would have got 10% off the three day hire if i was permitted book the latter one on same day so maybe have a look at??? :) surely people will want to book multiple times now and again
I needed to buy cover for two separate weeks. The first week was fine. The second was a problem as it was erroneously detected as a duplicate payment. Sorting this out was very time consuming and tedious.
Also there is an erroneous validation rule on the website prompting you to enter a return date but this pops up before you have got to this stage. In Safari it blocks the web page and it is impossible to complete the form and the purchase. I eventually managed to do this in Chrome which detects a problem with the control and lets you kill it.
The product seems to be fine and good value but the proof of the pudding would of course, be if I needed to make a claim.
All in all poor and you have a few problems with your website to sort out.
We are hiring a car in Spain and have used this company before in order to cover our excesses on our policy should we be unlucky enough to have an accident while we are on holiday. It's a much better deal to get a policy before you go rather than when you arrive at the car hire company at your destination. Carhireexcess is always clear with their documentation and although, thankfully, we've never had to make a claim, I'm confident in the fact that it would be an easy process based on the dealings I've had with the company so far.
I hope I do not have an accident to put them to the test!
Stars for website and price as I cannot star the service unless unlucky!
Customer service was helpful and efficient.
Website easy to use, policy adequate and cheaper than car hire company's own, policy set up very quickly, giving peace of mind.
Used them several times now, simple to buy cover and great value. Haven't had to claim so not sure what that experience is like.
Well worth the peace of mind, easy to set up and far cheaper than taking the car hire company's excess deal.
Never actually had to claim but, compared to protect your bubble i find the process far easier. Nice to know you trust people to buy cover on the day of the credit agreement which is handy as often my hire requirements are pretty last minute, all in all good service, thanks.
Carhire excess has taken a load off my mind as I am the driver during our holidays and after hearing stories about people stung by excess fees having this insurance will save us a lot thanks . It was very easy to get and I also phone to ensure I knew what I was getting!
I never feel entirely at ease when hiring a car as I'm never sure what I'm liable for or not in the event of an accident. With Carhireexcess I know I can drive with peace of mind without feeling that I've been charged an excessive amount. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Carhireexcess.
I'm happy with CarHireExcess's cover, and will use them again.
My only quibble is that they define a day differently from every car hire business we've ever used. This means that a 3-day car hire (one which is described and billed as such by the car hire provider) from, say, lunchtime on Friday to the same time on Monday, counts as 4 days to CarHireExcess. Unless you have a hire which exactly begins and ends at midnight, you always have to pay for an extra day.
Compounding this, finding this out was painful. When I was initially puzzled by the CarHireExcess website calculating my hire period as being a day longer than the car hire providers themselves do, I phoned to ask. The CarHireExcess representative I spoke to initally claimed not to understand my question as to how many days excess cover I need for a 3-day car hire period, then told me it was 3 days, then when I asked why the website told me it was 4 days she told me it was 4 days actually (and so her previous answer had been wrong), and when I asked why that was the case and why CarHireExcess uses a different definition of a day from the car rental industry, she was unable to answer.
If CarHireExcess are going to make us pay for an extra 24 hour's worth of cover we don't need, they could at least make this clear on their site, and train their staff properly to be able to answer the question truthfully and explain why this is the case.
Site was very helpful however as I wanted bespoke quote based on spain and USA with cover for four family members I phoned. This was early evg - around 8ish and the gentleman I spoke to was obviously not handling the phone lines but he was really helpful and unfortunately due to the fact that the insurance Companies did not cover son in laws i was unable to book the joint holidays i did however book the first holiday. I would definitely recommend this company
Don't waste your money on expensive extras when you rent a car, shop around insurance is much cheaper elsewhere. www.carhireexcess.com saved me £20 compared to what Avis would charge.
Fortunately I didn't have a need to claim but the online purchasing process was simple, easy and fast. Peace of mind in minutes - and £1.99 a day was far less expensive than the £10 a day quoted by the car hire company - will definitely use again.
I've used this company before. On this ocassion the same deal through, the Hire Car company, was £29.94, which is a saving of about 46.5%!!!
When an accident did occur Carhireexcess were easy to use, as long as the correct paperwork was submitted absolutely no problems.
I took all the paperwork abroad with me so that when I had my accident I read what I had to do, collected all information required and paperwork.... simply sorted
I had a fabulous experience. Quick and easy to book. online.Fortunately I didn,t need it but as I went to Ireland and the excess is £1300 it was worth getting this insurance.
I feel the service offered provides welcome piece of mind. The price is low enough for it to be a no brainer for most people, any higher and i might think twice/shop around. Have recommended to friends.
Buying the excess insurance was straightforward and is good value.
good price, good web site.
I have used this firm befor and found them ok so far. The real test will only come after a claim, which, fortunatly I have not had to try yet.
We have used Carhireexcess Insurance for a number of years now. We regularly holiday in Majorca using a family members private Apartment. Obviously we have to travel from the airport to the apartment and therefore always hire a car to transport my partner and our luggage. The peace of mind that Carhireexcess policies give mean that we can get on with our holiday without worrying excessively about our damage to our hire car. The policies are really reasonable, and we may even decide to save more money by purchasing an annual policy next year
This annual policy, which protects the excess on car hire insurance, is great value. Much cheaper than insuring the excess each time you hire a car, and definitely worth having if you hire a car more than once a year.
I hired a car at 11pm and car hire excess treats this as a full day and wanted to charge me for 2 days cover.
Surely it would be better to cover any 24 hour period?
I didn't have to claim so cant comment on the claims process but i would use them again and am considering an annual policy.
Easy online process and made car hire so much cheaper for me. Insuring separately has saved me a lot of money.
2 or 3 years since I last used Carehireexcess - a couple of weeks in France. This trip a weekend only (Netherlands and Germany) but the additional security is worth the cost several times over.
So pleased I took out this insurance. Car hire company pulled a fast one and left me with £200 of charges for a tiny scuff on the alloy.
Claims are handled by OSG in Ireland - easy to claim, paperwork straightforward.
A fortnight after sending my paperwork (by email, very easy) they have confirmed they will pay in full.
Only tiny negative is that they're not that on the ball in responding to emails - sometimes 48 hours + before you get a response. Saying that though, when they do get in touch they are extremely helpful. I will definitely use them every time I hire a car from now on.
clear precise website
with out any problem filling out and completing at a keen price
I found this company via Google and found their summary of services very clear and good value.
The scandelous price of hire car insurance excess means we must look at alternatives and this is the best. £1.99 per day compared to £10 offered by the hire company.
This is second time I have used this insurance and to date have been fortunate enough not to have needed to claim. The acid test will be , how efficiently and sympathetically in the event of needing to claim it is dealt with?
You know the way you get fleeced for extra insurance at car hire desk to cover excess or live with risk of not having damage and having it in the back of your mind ? This service only cost about 25 euro for the week and s great value.
