Absolutely the worst customer service possible. I ordered an iPhone and the delivery driver stole it. Did CW lift a finger to help - not at all.
In the end I had to track down the CCTV footage from my building and get it reviewed by the police in order to prove that it hadn't been lost and their courier had in fact taken it.
Avoid these people at all costs.
I ordered an ipad. Received confirmation and an order number and was told to allow 1 working day for it to be delivered to my local store. I didn't get to town for 4 days, and guess what? No ipad. So I emailed Carphone Warehouse, and am still waiting for a reply. I called. The guy said no ipads in stock, so I told him the £429 had been paid. He told me it probably hadn't! I assured him I had checked my balance online and it had definitely been paid for!
I ended up going back to my local store, where the girl was very helpful. She rang and cancelled, and demanded I get a refund. However, have now apparently got to wait up to 14 days, which means I can't buy an ipad until I am sure they have refunded me. I could go and buy one today, but you can guarantee if I do that suddenly the Carphone Warehouse will find an ipad available and insist that I didn't cancel! So ... another wait ..... cheers CW, my son will get it just as he has to go back to school :(
They even put the phone down on my mother.
I took out a contract with this company, it was fairly overpriced when I bought it I was 17 at the time and so had to do it in my mothers name.
However after about 20 months my blackberry got stolen. I did not want to fork out over £100 for a new pay as you go blackberry handset. So I decided to take out a new contract with Virgin as they had a much better deal.
Then the hassle began. I phoned them up to see how much it would be to cancel the contract they told me the same price as it was to continue my contract so I decided to continue it just in case it came in handy.
Because my sim was stolen as well as my phone, I had to get a new sim I was on o2 so I went straight to the o2 shop where I got one for free. I then took it to the carphone warehouse because only they are allowed to phone up as some sort of deal they have with o2. They then said for the exact same sim card I got for free I have to pay £15.00 for I did this because I was desperate at the time as I lived away from my family and needed a phone.
My mum phoned up o2 and told them at the end of the contract she wanted it cancelled. They did not cancel the contract. However they knew the sim card was no longer in use.
A few months later my mum realised she had been charged £25 a month for four months for a contract that should have ended, When she phoned them up to question they put the phone down on her. My mum got very upset and thought she was in the wrong so did not take matters further.
I have just found out about this and I'm very angry by the way they treated her and the way they robbed her money.
I would not ever get a contract out with these people again, they do not care about people and will willingly rob you by using small print in the contract they do not tell you about.
Avoid at all costs!
What a joke this company is. The worst I've ever experienced. Don't understand why they havnt been shut down.
Some of their products that they're selling are actually second hand refurbs. I know this from experience. I bought a Samsung galaxy that had to be returned immediately with software issues. They then gave me a replacement which had obviously been used and had software issues. I demanded a new phone. They gave me another refurb with more software issues. I returned it again only to receive the first phone back again still with the same software problems. I returned again and received the second phone back for a second time still with the same problems.
When I realised that they had started re-sending me the same phones over and over again, I asked for a completely different brand of phone.
They gave me a second hand HTC. It was broke. They sent it off to their repair centre and it came back with software issues and damage to it.
They replaced it a further twice with more second hand handsets. I decided to visit the store one last time. I got a bollocking for being fussy. Unbelievable. By this time I was willing to accept a second hand phone if it worked correctly.
After 18 months trying to sort this , I gave up and spoke to my service provider (t-mobile) about this. They were kind enough to cancel my contract free of charge and gave me a new2 year contract with a free Samsung S3.
The moral of the story is - don't buy from a third party. Buy straight from a network instead.
Ordered a payg phone On 6th may 2012. Should have been delivered to my local carphone warehouse store, never ever arrived, mnot it's like pulling teeth to get my money back. The only way is to dispute it with my credit card company. To date 4 emails and 3 phone calls from carphone warehouse but they are still unable to refund my money even though they agree the package was lost by their courier.
Avoid any online transactions with this company
I tried to sign up for one of their deals and they refused me credit of a whole £7.50 per month.
They then refused to tell me why they wouldn't give me credit, which is contrary to the Consumer Credit Act and also to the advice given by their credit agency, Equifax.
During correspondence with them, they also referred me to a section of their website which didn't even work.
Bearing in mind I have two current credit cards with very little owing on only one of them, that I owe nothing to anyone and that I am in secure employment, I think it is reasonable to be told why Carphone Warehouse has acted in such a defamatory manner - they continue to refuse.
But hey!, would you expect anything else.
By the way, you might want to use these email addresses to contact Carphone: Dunstoc@cpwplc.com, Pearson@cpwplc.com, firstname.lastname@example.org
I have to advise people not to fall for the price match promise as they don't actually honour this. Its a bit like fraud, they tell you you are protected if you find a phone cheaper elsewhere in the next two weeks, you buy the phone, you find it cheaper, they won't honour the promise as the devil is in the detail and they don't match against wherever you found it cheaper anyway,
and the staff are rude and unhelpful to boot!
Avoid Carphone warehouse, I will never use them again.
I ordered a phone with 40 in toshiba HD TV smart TV. obviously they did not tell me what exact model tv is,also image of tv was very small, you cant recognise it,so i googlet about toshiba 40 in smart tv full hd,and was very impressed what functions they have etc.. so i ordered mine, but tv what came is RUBBBISH|,cheap quality product that is designed to fool peoples and trick them into buying them as smart tvs.. what kinda smart tv is it,if its even dont have a function to record programmes ? there is no sign of it beeing smart tv. packaging is very basic, very small instruction. i feel ashemed for my stupidity that i was tricked into buying this :(
I bought a phone from the company. They couldn't deliver it to my address, then it took them a month to refund me the money. BTW, they also deducted £10 for couldn't deliver the phone to me!!
Never Never again. Terrible service ever!!!
Carphonewarehouse over promise and under deliver.
Ordered mobile phone to pick up in shop.
The 'phone was meant to arrive in shop the next day.
No call from shop.
Tracked package - item actually arrived at shop 2 days later - still no call.
Called at shop - package was there (opened by assistant) but I was told I couldn't take it because 'systems were down'.
Frustrated but asked them to call me later in the day to update me on situation.
Cancelled the order and lodged complaint.
Website states they will respond to complaints within 48 hours.
Still no reponse.
My first sentence sums up my experience.
never before have i ever had the misfortune to deal with a company as totally incompetent as carphone warehouse.
my phone was recently damaged (beyond repair) and even though when i took out the insurance policy i was told "if your phone is damaged in any way we will supply a like for like replacement within 24 hours" i have now been waiting a week and i am still no closer to getting a replacement phone. they are all too ready to take your money but heaven forbid you should try and claim.
i have spent the last week being messed around fro pillar to post by these idiots. no tone person will ever take resposibility for the mess up. all i want is what was promised to me, but that seems to be out of the question.
their staff are rude. arrogant and look at you as if you are causing them an inconvenience by walking in their store and try to give them money. there isnt a single one of them who knows what they are doing, it is quite simply a game of "pass the buck".
i would strongly advise everyone to walk past these stores as you will get nothing but ulcers by dealing with them. it totally amazes me that these incompetent egits are still in business.
total and utter incompetence of the highest order!!!!!
No problem at all with the phone upgrade.
I chose my new package based on the availability of certain free gift - Toshiba 40" SMART HD LED TV. When my gift arrived in store it was actually a far lower specification (no SMART or HD capability) as they have none of the higher spec TV in stock and have no idea whether they will get any more. In store staff really helpful in cancelling the contract/order.
This free gift is still showing as available on the website and on the in store ordering system.
I would advise anyone going for a deal based on the free gift to double check availability and double check spec of your gift on receipt.
You will never get better customer service else where than the carephone where house Truro.
You get the best trained staff always smiling and the best help in choosing your product simply amazing every time.
Bought a *NEW* (allegedly) iPhone 4 from them in February. It has never picked up my WiFi despite my other halfs working fine in the same room and struggles to pick up 3G. Have only just managed to find the time to sort this; took phone to Apple Store to see what the problem is.
Apple Store say WITHOUT DOUBT the phone has already been opened; there are screws missing and all indications are that this phone has had a camera replacement. Therefore Apple are not in a position to replace it and advised me to go back to where I bought the phone.
Complaint sent into Carphone Warehouse whose idea of customer service was to say that they do not sell reconditioned handsets and as I have not bought the issue up 'before' (before what????) that they will not be replacing my phone.
Well sorry CPW, but I'm afraid however long it takes- you will be replacing it. I bought the phone from you, my contract is with you. The phone does not work through no fault of my own and therefore i am ENTITLED to a replacement. Read the Sale of Goods Act and weep. Legal advice will be sought if necessary I will not stand to be ripped off!
All the while I shall regale everyone I know and even those I don't with the tale of the cheeky *ssholes at CPW selling me a second-hand phone in the hope that none of them ever use you again. You don't deserve to be trading.
While Sony sais that "YELLOW TINT DISPLAY IS A MANUFACTURING FAULT" for the pseudo-engineers at CPW is water damage. I think even if you smash your phone with a hammer and sent it there you`ll get the same response. For this company SOGA is wrong and whatever is written there is wrong. They are right. I called Citizens Advice and i`m not the only one with this problem regarding CPW. You have some customer rights that can`t be changed by any law... until CPW!!! Apparently they are the law. Very rude staff, nobody will help you if you call to complain. AVOID at all cost and find yourself a better company. It is a reason why CPW are No1 in losing clients...
first contract. has had trouble since day. they say they will call you back and they dont ,didnt even finsh the informnaino or register me properly. find my self ringing constanyl and chasing them up. the team are ok to talk to seem as if they dont care and are shouting.if you want my advise go to phones 4 u .
Rude and unhelpful staff they say your covered send your phone off for repair then what do you know your not covered ? WTF
they told me my phone had 2 years warranty so i thought i was covered when it went wrong 1 year 1 day later, sorry thats not covered what a load of crap, said id got it wet ! not a chance never got it wet even the moron who sent it off said what good condition it was in,they said there was an indicator in the back that told them it had been wet but they couldnt show it me ???
i will never use carphone warehouse again
Recently got a new phone and contract for Tmobile but via Carphonewarehouse and the contract and phone ended up being cheaper than direct from TMobile. Ridiculous, right? Overall, completely delighted with the experience and fast delivery.
I have a great credit history yet car phone warehouse said I failed their "security check". Absolutely no reason why this should have occurred. What a waste of time - customer support was absolutely no help with the statement "I'll call you back" - needless to say no call was received.
If you are looking for a new phone. Not a contract! Dont go there phones are way to expensive. I was looking for a htc titan and thought that carphone warehouse would be a good option since i wouldnt have to wait . Obviously not! The phone alone was £499 !! I could not afford that. Went on the internet when i got home and it was as cheap as £280 on the web. So how much must carphone warehouse be adding to the price of their handsets, thats a whole £200+ Saving.
Got a phone on contract from them. It developed a fault after couple days They said they cant exchange it because it have coloured water marks on red which means it got water damage. I said it was like that from first day of getting phone and there is no information in leaflet or anywhere in box that they have to be white.I went to carphone warehouse in York and the manager in there said that im wasting his time and they cant do anything and i have to fix phone on my own. I went to repairs shop and guy said that i cant repair it because phone was faulty from the beggining. Now i have to pay money every month for nothing !! .
We're not reviewing about the phone (as that was fine) but as for the aftersales service of carphone warehouse, it wasn't very professional or helpful. We signed a contract when we purchased the phone, so that we would pay insurance every month for the free Tv we received with the phone but the Tv went wrong. It was taken away to be mended or replaced but so far we have not received it back. We feel like car phone warehouse are not being helpful in getting the TV back, especially when we heard that our TV had been sent back to carphone warehouse but carphone warehouse don't seem to know anything about it. THEY ARE KEEN TO HAVE YOUR MONEY BUT NOT VERY KEEN TO HELP.
So i had jut had my blackberry for just over a month when it went into repair after 2 weeks!!! i had my second blackberry which they gave to me and told me was fine but i had not noticed that it was not picking up signal so had to take it back and had a brand new one delivered in two days. i have had to take it into repair so many time i just don't want the phone anymore
