I rented a car with CarTrawler and picked it up in Toronto at Budget/Thrifty.
The car was paid in full, in advance, on cartrawlers website.
Later I get billed for the total rental amount once again but this time by Budget. Budget blames CarTrawler, and I should speak to CarTrawler if I want this money - no one can get in touch with CarTrawler - not even Budget.
So avoid these crminals, i've made a police report but I don't know how the police are supposed to get in touch with them either, this firm is incognito - they don't have a phone number and the "ticket" system isn't working.
WHERE DO I START. WRONG CAR GROUP. OLD BEAT UP CAR. NO FULL TANK AS PER CONTRACT. RADIO/CD HANGING OFF AND NOT WORKING. SPARE TYRE BALD AND FLAT. AGENT COULDN'T GIVE A S- -T. SAID ITS THE ONLY CAR WE HAVE AND WALKED AWAY. UNBELIEVABLE. THEY DON'T DESERVE ANYONES BUSINESS.
Ich habe bei Mietwagenmallorca.de einen Wagen gebucht. Dieser wickelt die Buchung über den Broker Cartrawler ab. Anmietung erolgte bei Hiper in Palma de Mallorca. Vor Ort verlangte der Vermieter bei mir eine Extra-Gebühr von fast 25% für die bereits gebuchte Option RÜckgabe mit vollem Tank. Hiper verweist auf den Broker Cartrwaler, das seit 25. Janaur 2014 so geregelt wäre. Cartrwaler verweist auf den Vermieter vor Ort. man solle das dort klären. Mietwagenmallorca.de (Achtung sitzt nicht in D sondern auf Mallorca) !!!! hält sich ganz heraus. Auf meine Bitte, das vor Ort zu klären, drohte mir der Inhabeer sogar mit seinem Rechtsanwalt. Sehr feine Geschäftsgebahren.
I will never again use the car trawler website. I asked for a Merc A-Class and was given a Chevrolet Cruise - probably the worst five-door saloon on the planet. It was an automatic with only one forward gear, its engine was incredibly noisy, really couldn't handle normal inclines and felt very tinny. It felt unsafe at any speed over 90 kmh (around 60mph). The website said that I would be given a Merc A-Class or equivalent vehicle but no stretch of the imagination will persuade me that the car given me was even vaguely equivalent to a Merc. I hope to get compensation but have in any case decided to warn people away from this website in future. What a load of junk!
Yes, they are a bunch of criminals. They will take the money from your visa and then disappear. They don't have any contact information on their website, no email and no chat service. they only have international land line phone numbers which will cost you a fortune because they will keep transferring you from a department to another. The operators will not solve your problem. Cartrawler is just a supplier. When you go to any rent car office and present your cartrawler booking they will get angry and tell you to ask for a refund which is something impossible. Again, do not put yourself in endless problems. Look for another company for peace of mind.
no car was presented on my arrival, although money was taken from my credit card. Standard answer from customer service- "we will be in touch with you shortly..." Nothing happened after.. But i have enough time,pations and money to bring this crooks into Court and it will cost them much more them they charged me...
Jeg aftalte billeje gennem cartrawler . Så langt så godt. Imidlertid blev jeg nødt til at forlænge lejeperioden. Normalt en procedure der ved andre selskaber kun er et par museklik eller et telefonopkald væk. Sådan var det ikke her. Det er bøvlet at kontakte firmaet. De forstod ikke min anmodning og det hele resulterede i dels at de lavede en ny aftale for en helt forkert periode dels at de uden mit vidende aflyste den første aftale. Så da jeg stod i Malaga lufthavn var der ingen bil. Heldigvis fik jeg hurtigt lejet en bil gennem et seriøst firma. De firmaer cartrawler henter deres biler fra er utvivlsomt udemærkede, men cartrawler fungerede bare ikke! Nu venter jeg spændt på om jeg får min penge igen. Har klaget men endnu intet hørt fra cartrawler , som jeg kraftigt vil advare mod.
Rented a car for four days in Auckland, NZ. Smooth booking, payment as specified, good advice about assurance, car as specified (from Thrifty). Remember that you can seldom avoid having the rental company asking for a copy of your credit card for the excess!
Warning against rogue rental cars companies I rented the car of Rentalcars.com / Firefly / Cartrawler ( Firefly reference no is 90656405-0 ), 37 days in Spain ( 22/9 - 29/ 10). Booking and full payment was made in connection with that I booked the flight with Norwegian 6/4 . Norwegian has unfortunately this company on their website so you can book your car in connection with the booking of the flight. I paid 205 Euros, which would include full insurance with no excess . It was a very good price and I was happy with it . But when I got home it turned out that Firefly without my approval pulled further 305 Euros in my bank account. They can obviously do as they always pull the credit card that you should get your car ( even if it is prepaid !) . But this is absolutely not ok. On the contrary , I think it is a completely unacceptable behavior and illegal . I have had an email and phone contacted Rentalcars.com , which I rented the car from , so that they could correct the error and refund me. They say then that it is paying for the insurance, even though I have a lease that says that the car is fully insured, through a special deal. When I told them they present a false invoice for 305 Euros, which they claim I signed ( anyone who is not blind can see that it is not signed )! This is outright fraud and forgery and I have made a police report. But the police announced that the case is difficult to investigate. It is due to that this " company" is like a Mafia organization, or a hydra. They direct consumers here and there and one get not hold of the whole business, or someone who is really responsible . The company making the booking is not the same company receiving the payment and still another company lease the car. Firefly is based in Manchester and are impossible to get in touch with. The same applies to the rental in Alicante. Of the report available on this page, one can clearly see the same pattern. It really should harm Norwegian's reputation having a partnership with these rogue companies. I'm thinking now to contact Interpol to alert them of this scam, as it is important to get reed of them from reputable car rental companies. Alf Ronnby
Bonjour, Il y a quelques semaines nous sommes partis en Martinique en ayant réservé par Cartrawler un véhicule... Nous avons eu la surprise de ne rien avoir de réservé sur place donc avec l'obligation de retrouver un véhicule ( à 200 € de plus quand même), avec en plus le prix de la location déjà payée ( 49 €) malgré leur confirmation. Nous avons essayé de les contacter sans aucune réponse de leur part et évidemment sans remboursement. C'est une honte ... En colère !!
I booked a SUV car for a skiing trip in Canada supplied by dollar rental. I booked an SUV for a reason as the location is steep and two wheel drive won't reach. SUV is a high price bracket.
On getting to the rental dollar informed me that they had no more vehicles of an SUV type and offered a Toyota corolla ? They informed me that car trawler over book cars and dont inform them of these requirements.
I complained to car trawler who answered by stating both cars are in same category o no compensation!
My advice to you all is if you want and expect good customer support then avoid car trawler and dollar who in my opinion are useless and have no comprehension of customer care.
Stick with main suppliers, it maybe more but you not get crap service and support
Jeg bookede en bil på Norwegians salgsside, men da meget negative anmeldelser af Nizacars/CarTrawler dukkede frem i anden sammenhæng, fik jeg kolde fødder og ville afbestille bilen. men: det er umuligt at finde en mailadresse at afbestille på. jeg brugte en time med at søge på nettet på alle adresser, jeg kunne komme i tanke om, men INGEN steder er det muligt at afbestille, skønt firmaet reklamerer med gratis afbestilling inden for 7 dage. det er UMULIGT at afbestille på mail. til sidst ventede jeg i telefonen til et irsk nummer i 15 minutter og fik mirakuløst afbestilt bilen. Men sikke et besvær for en afbestilling, som burde kunne ordnes med et enkelt klik. hvad gør folk, der ikke er gode til at tale engelsk i telefonen? efter at have læst andre anmeldelser fandt i jeg i flere af disse en mail adresse på en Povilas eller Stephen fra Cartrawler "hello@cartrawlwer" og skrev en forespørgsel om, hvorfor det er så svært at afmelde. GÆT engang: adressen findes ikke! Norwegian should not Work with such a non trust worthy Company!
Fick ingen bokningsbekräftelse trots påstötningar. Försökte avboka, vilket inte var genomförbart då jag ej hade bokningsnummer. Pengarna drogs dock.
Slutligen, efter 4 dagar med mycket krångel fann vi ut att CARTRAWLER:COM , (mellanhand) hade tagit pengarna men ej bekräftat bokningen .Fick av min bank veta att de kunde dra mer pengar från kortet då de hade kortnumret. Blev tvungen att spärra detta kort och beställa ett nytt. Nästa dag fick jag veta via Lowcostholiday att pengarna skulle återbetalas, men att CARTRAWLER vägrade skicka avboknings bekräftelse till Lowcostholiday eller till mig, kunden.
Återbetalningen skedde som utlovat, men ingen förklaring.
We booked through Argus car hire (another name for Cartrawler) to collect a car at Edinburgh airport. On arrival we were told that they had cancelled the booking because our flight time and booked time didn't tally up. Despite having booked for 2 days hire we had no car. Had to go to another car rental firm which thankfully had a car, but cost us a massive amount more on the day. Was on hold to an Irish phone number for 10 mins and never got through to an adviser. I then requested a refund and was told I couldn't get one. If you see reviews for Argus, CarTrawler is the same company. Don't touch with a bargepole.
Oh how I laughed!! I am probably the worse person for giving advice EVER, that’s because I dish it out but never do it for myself, this being one of those times that having worked in the travel industry for 16 years and using Trust Pilot on my own websites I did not check Cartrawler reviews first! Dooooooooo. I have read all the other reviews so I will not bore you too much with all the finer details, but will say this. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY as they LIE!! This mini complaint can be verified by Cartrawler as they record all CALLS and I made a few!! Basically I booked a trip to Gibraltar with my family to see family, now having a disabled daughter I always and mean always double check and re check that I have booked everything correctly. I booked a car hire via Airport-car-hire.net that ultimately is Cartrawler. I checked all the information provided on the website and booking journey and the email confirmation. As mentioned I double check everything, so when I received my e-voucher I checked the address on the confirmation of the pick up on Google: Address: Winston Churchill Avenue. I called them as the directions for pick up listed a Gibraltarian address, yet it explained that we had to cross the border and pick the car up opposite Burger King. Customer Services assured me after explaining about my daughter and I also mentioned the currently political problems in crossing the border and even walking through can take up to 3 hours. So with a disabled daughter, of course I check everything. But alas, the time came and we all headed off, upon arrival and having exited the airport, it hit me like a brick, I could see burger king and YES is was on the other side of the boarder. I went to the AVIS car hire desk in the airport just to check with him. His words not mine: ha ha ha ha you are the fourth person this week to ask me this question and I will give you the same answer: YOU have to go across the border and pick up your car but expect to wait today at least 2 hours to cross and another 2 to drive back, with that I of course got on the phone straight away, after holding for 30 mins they answered and I had to leave my number for someone to call me back. So I decided to get a taxi to the hotel, 4 hours later they called, I could not answer and they left a message and said: you wanted to contact us, please call us on XXX so they did not even try to call us back, I had to try again and gave up after 15mins of trying to get through. I contact my colleague at work in London, who emailed Cartrawler with what had happened, this was 8 days ago and still no answer, I have tried again on the phone but refuse now to wait as still now answer. So after not having a car and spending best part of £160 that I have now lost, I can conclude that in the 16 years I have been working in the travel industry that has its bad moments, this has to top the pole for incompetence, service, miss leading to name but a few. So, I am going to make it my mission to ensure that this story is known not just in the direct consumer market, but in the commercial world too as I happened to know many independent companies that currently sell Cartrawler as a third party and will be contacting each one personally. Unhappy customer, hell YES!!
Classic crooks! A long way down the small print it states "Your vehicle will be supplied with a full tank of fuel and can be returned empty. On pickup the rental agent will charge you for a full tank of fuel. The price per litre charged by the rental agent may be higher than the price at the local service station. No refund for unused fuel." The fuel was approx £100 than you would expect to pay at the pump.
If you're thinking of using Argus add £100 to the price they are stating before deciding if they're good value for money.
