As an Orbitz-owned company, I thought that Cheaptickets would be a trustworthy site to book through. However, that was far from the case.
We had to cancel a flight and reschedule our trip due to a medical emergency. We spent about 8 hours (not an exaggeration) on the phone trying to process this request.
We were disconnected about six times and each time we called back there was at least a 30min wait time. They do not give out direct phone numbers so that you can reconnect with the customer service person with whom you were speaking. I requested after the first disconnection that they call the number on file, confirmed to be correct, if we were disconnected. They never called back. Not once when disconnected six times.
Each person we spoke to provided us with contradicting information and fee amounts. Being lied to is not acceptable. They were unsuccessful with scheduling our hotel stay in time and we were charged the full amount with no refund by the hotel. Luckily, we purchased trip insurance, but Cheaptickets was completely useless in helping us with out situation. They also could not provide the fee amounts (their own fees!) that we would be charged for cancellation. We were told that we had to deal with the insurance company even though they had our full itinerary and it was their fees that we were asking about.
Stay away and book through the airline and hotel directly or find a site you know you can trust.
Here's a copy of my recent exchange with a cheap tickets agent. The actual price of the ticket was literally double their advertised fare.
you: Hi Judy, I'm interested in book a flight Judy: Where would you like to go? you: From£107.92including all taxes FROM LEAVING ON London Luton Airport, London, UK 19-May-2014 TO Istanbul Ataturk Intl, Istanbul, Turkey Judy: What dates? you: that's the flight I would like. Judy: Lemme check Judy: is it one way travel Judy: ? you: yes, it is. you: are you still checking? Judy: Hi Judy: yes we have that deal for you you: great. Judy: would you like to confirm? Judy: KK 19MAY LTN----IST 1220 1800 you: i'd like to book it. We want to fly from London to Istanbul on the 19th of May Judy: This flight is from Atlasjet you: that's right Judy: and flies from Luton airport Judy: What is your full name as per your passport Judy: you can call me on 0208 843 5602 you: Is the price for two people? Judy: that price is for single passenger Judy: i suppose you are looking for two seats you: I think you're mistaken because the search results say this: Per Adult fr £53.96 Total: £107.92 you: So, the total for two according to your website is 107.92 you: can you confirm? you: That's the flight with Atlas jet. you: Are you still there? Judy: Srorry Judy: that is £107.92 per person you: How is it possible that the price is literally double? Please explain? Why is there one price on teh website and another now? Judy: its subject to availability with the seats of the airline left you: But you're advertising it as we speak so why is it still on your website? you: That price is still being advertised. Judy: its a starting fare Judy: and subject to availability you: There is s a name for this type of scam and it's called bait and switch. You've wasted my time offering a bogus online deal. I'm going to report you to the office of fair trading.
Sporting events tickets should have the original cost of the ticket listed next to what they are charging. Yankees vs. Royals section 113 row c, original cost $40.00 per ticket.
Their charges, $98.00 a ticket = 196.00 Service Fees, = 33.32 Shipping, = 25.00 shipping across the state from Lenexa KS, to Abilene KS, by way of Memphis TN, back to Wichita KS. Really a $200 + cell phone from China doesnt cost that much to ship based on the weight of the package. Total = 244.32
And where do these service fees come into play, didnt you get enough $ when you doubled the ticket price? It sure is messed up you can't leave feedback on their site unless it was hotel related.
I am not one to complain, and this is my 1st time ever to write a review on a company but this must be said. I WILL NEVER USE CHEAPTICKETS EVER AGAIN! I went to cheaptickets.com and tried to get a plane ticket from Pittsburgh to Houston Texas, Feb 28 to March 4. A few days later I realized that the confirmation email they sent me had the wrong dates. I believe this may have happened when I filled out the billing information and left something out; when I pushed "send" or "next" it went back to that same page and said I left something out that needed to be filled in, I guess what I did not realize is that CheapTickets also cleared the dates when it reloaded back to that page. I called them to explain what happened, but the customer service rep got very defensive and would not work with me at all. He wanted me to pay them for the plane ticket, a cancellation fee of $250.00, and then buy a whole new ticket with the right date on top of that! I offered to pay the difference between the cost of the ticket I bought and the ticket I was trying to buy. And I actually would considered paying a cancellation fee that was not so ridiculously way too expensive! It was more than my ticket was! All other companies have like a $50 cancellation fee if any at all! I used this company quite a lot this year because I travel for work and this is how they treated me? I felt bullied so I disputed the charges. Now they sent me an email threatening that they were going to go to a Collection Agency. They are just a bunch of bullies who do not care about the customers at all. I would suggest for you to never use them! I would use Expedia or ANY OTHER company instead who are known for having good customer service. Thanks for listening
They literary ripped me off. I booked a flight to cairo, then terrorist attacks began and I was worried. I had payed exra 50$ to have my flight insured from allianz and to redeem my flight coasts in case of cancelation so t canceled my flight and I followed their steps and filed a claim. They are ignoring my emails and not responding and I am afraid that means I lost 830 $ which is a big deal !!!!! I definitely regret dealing with cheaptickets. I deal with another dealer now and I get better prices and much better service. don't deal witj cheaptickets... the only thing they are good at is advertising!
They just want to steal your money with all different excuse. i booked plane tickets and car rental when i want to cancel the car rental, they told me they have to charge the cancellation fee $25, i'm ok with that, but on top of that they said there is a service fee for the airline, come on, i'm not cancel the airplane ticket, it says clearly on my credit card, 2 transaction, 1 for airline, 1 for car rent. rip off, i'll dispute with my credit card company.
They do offer cheap tickets but cross your fingers that you do not run into any problem that you have to call them. I was on hold for 45 minutes trying to change my flight. They transferred me back and forth. I ended up booking an entirely different trip with another company.
I called them later regarding a refund request and got transferred 3 times. Then no one was able to give me an answer!!!!
This company is a bunch of thieves! Bought tickets to the Yankees game for my brothers birthday and when the value of the tickets all of a sudden went up they told me my tickets were cancelled and they don't have them anymore. A crooked company, do not buy anything from them. Customer service is awful. They offered me nothing in return just said that's the way is goes. Just because you buy them its not guaranteed.
We missed a flight on our itinerary due to airline issues, which complicated our entire international trip and made us miss our first night in the hotel we booked through CheapTickets. Every time we called ChaptTickets we were on hold for at least 45 minutes, some times we were hung up on due to transfer of calls and even after we explained to a manager that we cannot keep calling on international rates to resolve our issue and the manager promised us e-mail correspondence - we still had to call them internationally because CheapTickets did not respond to our e-mails and a pending issue had to be resolved. So we spent at least 4 hours from our international trip on the phone and the issue STILL wasn't resolved because the customer service reps we spoke with didn't know how to assist us. Then when we got back in the states and called to request a refund for the missed hotel night - the manager was unacceptably rude and suggested next time we call we call during off-peak hours. Well excuse me, CheapTickets, you are not suggesting we wake up in the middle of the night to call you, do you? Because we have called at 11pm, we have called at 7 am...and STILL - we wait for at least 45 minutes until we even speak with a real person! Unacceptable....very disappointed with the customer service.

Our customer service rep was named "Bruce" and was extremely helpful, but forgot to mention the extra charges on credit card payments which is 20%... Prices shown on the website are not replicated in reality but nonetheless reasonably cheap compared to most other sites of this nature. I'd certainly recomend Cheaptickets.co.uk to everyone!
I had two terrible experiences with this company. First, we booked a hotel stay in Florida through them in March 2013 that promised a $75 hotel credit upon check-out. However, the hotel refused to honor the credit because they indicated that CheapTickets failed to enter it into the reservation system. After multiple calls to the CheapTickets "Customer Service," follow-up e-mails providding various documentation (which they already had in their system), etc., they eventually agreed to issue a $100 voucher good off of a future CheapTickets.com booking.
Unfortunately, they don't deduct the voucher amount from the price at time of booking, as most reputable companies too. Rather, they require you to book it through them, pay in full via credit card, and then send in ANOTHER request for a refund of the voucher amount. Despite this RIDICULOUS process, I complied with these directions in booking a subsequent hotel stay in Massachusetts earlier this month. I sent in all of the documentation requested to claim my refund (again, even though thye had it all in their system). Incredulously, they refused to honor the voucher and provide the refund, stating that I had to book ANOTHER trip through them to be eligible for the refund. They simply ignored my follow-up e-mail providing all of the relevant documentation from both trips.
Terrible customer service and inept (at best) business practices. Buyer Beware!
I would not have booked this flight if I had known that they would be adding 2 1/2 hours to the flight time. My 7:00 flights are now leaving at 5:30 and getting in an hour later with 3 hour layovers. Horrible!!!
The customer service rep did a remarkable job and endured the whole process with my flight booking and the reservations of the hotel. She also contacted the hotel on a 3-way call, to answer questions specifically that she couldn't answer. There would be NO GRAY AREA when I checked in. I received a great discount for booking both flight and hotel with cheap tickets. I am also a active member with cheap tickets. She was patient and cordial, friendly and I appreciate her good attitude. We need more people like her to help the customer, to aid in saving $$$. Thank you!
