This product has revolutionised chicken keeping for me. I no longer have the tie of being home to shut my hens away at night, or risk losing them to a wiley fox. The door opens at dawn enabling the birds to enjoy the outside and me to get a couple of extra hours in bed. Thank you Wells Poultry.

It's a super device. It opens the door at dawn and closes at dusk, and I don't need to be there! It was like having children again. You needed to be there day and night no matter how you felt.
Now I can relax. The children have gone to bed and I can get back to the way it was. Obviously, like having older kids, I will still check them but now it's in my time frame.
Knowing they are nice and secure and tucked up in bed the next device to get will automatically do a health check, clean the coop, feed the chooks, tidy the yard and collect the eggs.
I know that's called a caring human!
I ordered a range of item under order number (o/n) : PFV2HX10032038 on circa the 1st May.
It was quickly paid for and acknowledged.
Then I quickly added an electric hen brooder o/n D0000000004319.
The electric brooder was delivered relatively swiftly, but I heard nothing about the original order for well over a week. I chased at least 3 times by email and also tried phoning.
Eventually the 1st order was delivered on the 14th May (2 weeks later), but still minus an item (lamp) which had already been paid for. Again I have chased up on this, asking either to be sent the item or refunded, but still as of the 21st May have heard nothing back.
So at this stage it is very bad customer service and also effectively robbery.
If you read the reviews for this company most orders seem to have been straight forward and the customer is happy. Others (usually where there has been a delay or fault) have commented on extremely poor, unresponsive customer service. I've now been in both camps and I want to share my experience as a warning to other buyers.
I've placed 3 orders with this company. The first two times I contacted them by email for advice before ordering which was prompt and useful. Delivery times weren't the speediest for either occasions but nothing to complain about. Packaging on the first delivery was quite shoddy (which others have commented on). But nothing was damaged - I was just surprised it wasn't better.
After the 2nd order I was asked to leave a review here and I did, praising the clear website, extensive range on offer and the pre-sales advice I'd received. However, I'm afraid I can no longer recommend this company and so have deleted that review and here is why...
On the 27th Feb I placed an order for 3 items. 10 days or so later they hadn't arrived so I called and left a voicemail. This wasn't returned so I called again and this time I got through to someone who said they were waiting on a delivery for one of the items (a small galvanised grit hopper). As I now urgently needed the other two items that were in stock they said they would post those that day and send the hopper on a few days later. It was another few days before the package was actually sent (despatch notification email on14th March) and two items duly arrived.
I then forgot about it for a bit but received an email asking me to write a review for the whole order on the 23rd March. I emailed again to say I was still waiting for the grit hopper and could they please send it or refund me but got no reply. On the 16th April I left another voicemail again asking for delivery or refund. No reply until the 20th April when I got an email saying they were expecting delivery imminently perhaps even that day.
On the 15th May I left another voicemail and sent another email again asking for delivery or refund. I also wrote this review but held onto it till now (21st) to see if I would get a response. Nothing.
It has been over 12 weeks since I placed the order. On my part this indicates that I have better things to do with my time than chase up a £20 item and as the company has been so unresponsive I've several times thought I'd write it off and not bother. But it's annoying.
The grit hopper is still listed for sale on their website with a delivery estimate of 1-3 days. I also have found the item in stock in a local shop so there doesn't seem to be a scarcity issue with the item. It is also notable that they responded to my pre-order questions quickly and helpfully - when they have your money the opposite seems to be true (again born out by other reviewers).
So basically I have paid £20.10 for the item I didn't receive. To be honest I don't expect to ever get that money back or to receive the item. I will never buy from this company again and would advise others to shop elsewhere.
(FYI - unless you live in a very urban area you'll probably find as I did that large pet superstores offer a good range for chickens and I also found a local farm/country supplier [Link] with everything you could possibly want and at comparable prices.)
Yes, we've made a mess of this latest order. Sorry. Your refund is being processed together with several other orders for the same item.
We've been waiting for this particular item to come into stock for since last November. The manufacturer has throughout that time been telling us that they will be shipped on the next order, even as late as Thursday last week we have been told they are on the next order, which arrived today and they still aren't there. We should have resolved this earlier and in hindsight we put too much trust in some suppliers to deliver when they say they will.
As for the packaging, this is adequate but our previous carrier didn't treat the parcels very well. We changed carrier in Feburary and this seems to have solved the problem of damaged boxes.

Took 2.5 weeks to get my drinker, feeder and grit hopper due to hopper not being in stock. Only informed me of the reason for the delay after I contacted them. Sent larger hopper eventually. The goods are fine and better value than I can get elsewhere but the customer service was only average.

Excellent Service from Wells once again. I cant do without my Bio-dri, it makes life with Chickens so much easier and with no local stockists i founds Wells Poultry online and ordered from them and will continue to do so.

I had a couple of questions before I ordered online and I rang 4-5 times a day for 2 days, and left a voicemail message, before I gave up and emailed. A day later I got the reply I needed by email and put in the order. The products were delivered extremely quickly, were exactly what I expected and were of good quality.

I bought an automatic pop-hole trap closer. It runs on batteries and drops the pop-hole trap very slowly when it gets dark and opens it again sometime in the morning. I've seen it close, but I've not been up in time to see it open! Pretty easy to fit, needed a bit of wire to link the loop on the motor cord to the trap-door, bent to the right length to give a bit of slack at the top and bottom of the travel. Didn't take long to fit and saves me having to remember to go out there and open and close by hand. I don't know how long the batteries will last....

Wells Poultry Ltd have a good range of products and always seem to have what I'm looking for. Prices are competitive and delivery is always prompt when the item is in stock.

Order arrived quickly, but they did get one item wrong.
However, they corrected this as soon as I pointed it out, and would not accept payment for the item wrongly supplied originally.

Really pleased with this product, very sturdy and no more worrying about soggy pellets every time it rains - has kept them dry even with the recent downpours! Delivery was very quick. The hens are happy with it too!
I was recommended this by 2 different friends and it is great. Makes my life alot easier in the mornings and evenings, with children to get to school the birds come out when they are ready. In the evening there is no waiting for them to go in so we are free to go out without worrying.
Although my order was despatched promptly I have have tried on numerous occasions in the past two weeks to speak to someone at chicken house regarding a problem with my order . I have emailed and telephoned and left voicemails to ask for a return call as the phone goes directly to answer phone !! I am still waiting !!
I have spent a lot of money with this company but am doubtful I will use them again because of the atrocious customer service !
We've returned calls but never had an answer. Since finding this review we have searched for an email. We have found one, in reply to a system generated email on an account that isn't monitored for replies. We have now modified this email to make it clearer that customer service requests should be sent to the customer service address.

I ordered a chicken dispatcher and it arrived very quickly, 2 chickens now in the freezer. No complaints at all, the service from Wells was excellent.

We needed large egg boxes for the duck eggs produced by our 25 or so pet ducks - these eggs are sold and the proceeds always go to an animal related charity. Wells on-line with no problems supplied the boxes.
Ordering was straight forward and the item was as described.
i placed an order with Wells Poultry because my local supplier only had one brand of chicken feed which was not going down well with my hens. I restricted my order as postage was expensive however once the order was placed i waited for the dispatch details to be emailed.After a week i hadn't heard from 'Wells' or received the goods so i rang them. They told me my order was due to be despatched that day,when i asked when it would arrive i was told the next day. Having gone for the cheaper postage option i was jubious as to weather or not that was true. Thankfully it did arrive the following day. The sack of chicken mash did have a hole in the bag but as it was in an addtional sack it didn't matter to much. i was pleased the order arrived the day i was told once i phoned but felt the order took far to long to process.
This order was placed on the evening of the 24th and delivered on the 1st of may - the 4th business day from receipt of order. This is well within the expected time scale for the slower, economy service selected and not a week and a day as suggested.
I was very pleased with the way Wells Poultry dealt with my order especially as my husband had ordered items I was not happy with. Wells Poultry were very good about my returning these items and they delivered what I wanted very quickly. I would be happy to recommend this company and will certainly buy from them again.
The right products arrived in less time than promised
I placed an order for three products from Wells, the poultry shield concentrate 5 ltr, the 5 ltr high pressure sprayer and the barrier scaly leg spray, this was on the 10th of April, I mentioned that I was a little surprised that the carriage was £24 but was assured that that is what it cost and they only pass on the carriage cost.
The products arrived on Friday 4th May, quite badly packed, although as it happens nothing inside was damaged, I am certain that the products are exactly as advertised from all I have read the Poultry shield manufactured by Biolink is the best product on the market.
£24 for a delivery that took 18 working days is ridiculous, that would get the package from the other side of the world in less time on DHL or FedEx, and the piece de restistance, is that the carriage, according to the shipping manifest cost £15......I'm really struggling to imagine how the awful packing can have cost £9.

I'm sorry your order didn't arrive quicker but I'd like to add some information you've left out.
You are in the Channel Isles with costs considerably more to ship to than the rest of the UK.
The delay was due to the fact the parcel was returned to us, which you were aware of. It took some time to find out why it had been returned - there was no point resending it until we knew the reason why. In this case it was simply that the customs documentation had been lost en route and as soon as that was confirmed it was re-sent.
The shipping cost isn't printed on the any of the documents you will have seen although there might be a nominal parcel value somewhere on the documents.
