[REPLY]
use this service last 2 year and my item got stolen.
Came home to a card that said 'Sorry you were out, we'll try to deliver again tomorrow'. And when I say 'come home to' I mean it was clumsily jammed into the back of the intercom box outside the block of flats. Still, it says they'll be back tomorrow so I take the day off work to wait in for the parcel.
About 3pm I think 'I'll check the online delivery to see where they are', only to find they weren't delivering at all because they'd already made two deliveries. So, I received *one* card, and that card clearly said 'We'll deliver again tomorrow', but no.
So I contacted customer services, who said 'yeah, that's our bad but we're willing to make absolutely no attempt to redeliver this parcel with you negotiating with the seller. And no, we won't deliver on a saturday even though we wasted your day, and no we won't even specify a delivery window. Just get in touch with your seller to rearrange it, we won't lift a finger otherwise'
So I did, I contacted my seller who forwarded their authorisation mail to me. I checked again this morning only to find my goods had been returned to the seller, and the customer service monkey gave a verbal shrug and said 'Your package had been in our system the alloted time'
I am now boycotting any company that uses this terrible service, and I will be demanding a refund from my retailer (despite it not really being their fault), and issuing city link with a bill for my time.
Waited in today for CityLink delivery from Amazon (why they use them I don't know, perhaps they are cheap). Watched tracking online and front door. At 12:16 they posted the driver had attempted delivery but noone was home and left a card. Since I was watching the door at the time, highly unlikely unless he was invisible and the card he left was invisible too.
This is now the fifth time CityLink have done this to me. Perhaps my house is on the end of their delivery route and so when time comes for an early day it is my parcels that get left on the van.
I ordered about £350 of computer parts from a small retailer in North London who used Citylink. Not too sure what happened, but the goods were allegedly delivered to my house when I wasn't in and signed for by someone with a Spanish surname. I checked with all of my neighbours (whom I trust and who have taken in deliveries before) and none of them had taken it in. The long and short of it was that CityLink refused to accept responsibility, I had to take the company I ordered from to small claims court and the poor guy I bought from was stuck with the bill for the missing goods and court costs (not good for a small company), whilst Citylink refused to cover a thing saying that the goods had been delivered. I wouldn't buy from a supplier who used them again.
I am writing this review due because i have never ever known such a worst delivery/collection company in my entire existance!
I had a parcel arranged by tesco to be collected and according to the city link website all seemed ok and ready to be collected on the 15th May. I was told to wait at home from 7:30am until 6pm as they couldnt give me a specific time, so i booked the day off work, and waited. Had to also get my husband to leave work early to collect the children from school because under no circumstances was i missing this city link driver. I waited in all day and no city link driver turned up.
I contacted tesco whom couldnt do anything as city link where no longer open, and was advised to ring back in the morning. Another costly phonecall. I telephoned first thing in the morning, and just got an apology from tesco, and they said they would rearrange for today the 16th may, so another day i had to book off work. I asked tesco if they could find out from city link why this parcel was not collected yesterday, and they informed me city link had received the collection notification but they had failed to inform the driver of the collection, and they were sorry but it would definately be picked up today. I myself, managed to get hold of my local city link depot's telephone number, rung them to confirm the collection was 100% going to take place, and the lady whom i spoke with went speaking with another department to check the drivers list. I was informed yes it was definately being collected, the driver had been informed this morning, and it would be anytime up until 6pm.
So again my husband has had to leave work early to do the school run, and guess what! They have failed to collect yet again!!!! So i am absolutley fuming!!! I have just contacted tesco yet again, costing me more money in phonecalls, and all i got was another apology, and that all they can do is rearrange yet another collection but this will have to be on Friday, so that will be 3 days ive had to book off work, and 3 days my husband has had to leave work early to collect the children.
I have never ever experienced anything quite like this, i find it absolutely disgraceful, and i would advise anyone who is thinking about using City Link for any services that they steer well clear.
I will be writing a formal complaint to both tesco and city link, because this is just not acceptable.
I sent a delivery through City Link this week. The delivery guy picked up my two parcels and i told him that one of them had pottery in it and was fragile. Even though it had fragile written allover the box.
I wrapped the parcel up properly, regardless.
Anyway, i came home to check that the customer that purchased my items had recieved them. Oh she had, but damaged.
This lady paid £56.00 for these items and as you can imagine, was very upset.
You would think that after telling the delivery guy TWICE, that there was pottery in the box, that maybe, in his tiny mind, he would have made sure that nothing got thrown on top of it. But the idiot, clearly took no consideration as to what i told him.
There is no contact number through the service i used which was parcels2go. The live help button is none existant. And i am absolutely furious..
I am letting everybody know just how ridiculous this delivery service is. There is no way i will use them ever again. And i plead with anyone who is looking at this review not to think twice about using them. There is no customer service skills either. Rude, and incapable of getting a parcel to somewhere without it getting damaged.
WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!
FIRST CLASS IDIOTS!
We ordered some goods from Ebay, some decking panels, for some new deck we are having built in the last stages of a house renovation that has been going on for over 18 months. During this time we have had builders at home all day to sign for parcels, without exaggeration, we have had literally hundreds of parcels delivered during this time from numerous couriers, with no problems, until this week. On Wednesday 9th May, despite someone being in the property from 8am until 16:30pm, somehow, City-Link had managed to attempt a delivery, i.e stick a card through our door at around 3pm, without alerting our builders, or making our two miniature schnauzers bark, our dogs go ballistic when our doorbell rings. Now, it's worth pointing out here we have five doorbell sounders situated all around the house and another portable wireless unit that the builders take out into the garden whilst out back. Not to worry, the card said they will attempt another delivery the next day, Thursday 10th May, the builders now knew about this mysterious delivery attempt and even double checked the operation of the portable wireless sounder, everything was as it should be. At 14:50pm, when the builders came in for tea, there was another card from City-Link saying they had attempted to deliver again, once again, miraculously without making our two dogs bark, or alerting our builders to their presence. I phoned up City-Link
and spoke to a young man and explained we were in, that there was no way that the delivery man had rung the doorbell, I was informed he would request the parcel be delivered today, Friday 11th. Well, my wife was also at home today also, come 4pm no delivery, I phoned City-Link and spoke to a young lady, who's name I took, but will exclude from this review, who informed me they still had my parcel in their warehouse, they had requested authorisation from the seller for costs for another deliver attempt, as they had made two already. I explained again what had happened yesterday, that we were at home, no doorbell was rung, that I had been informed that it would be delivered today, there was no reference to subject to authorisation, all to no avail, I was dealing with an idiot frankly. I asked to speak to someone of higher authority, this was declined, she just kept repeating two attempts had been made, we need authorisation from the sender. Anyway, bottom line is, farcical, do not use if you have any other option.
Collection for 2-day delivery organised for the Tuesday.
Waited in all day - no one turned up.
Had to reschedule another collection on internet - offices closed. Collection booked for the following day (Wednesday).
I rang Wednesday morning to make sure I was on their collection list - still no answer after 20 minutes of hanging on the phone. Rang in the afternoon as I was anxious about missing the promised delivery to the customer on the Thursday. Faithfully promised that yes, they would be collecting the parcel today. No one turned up.
Have given up and will use another delivery service as I cannot afford to wait around another day in case they decide to turn up. Absolutely ludicrous way of running a business. Will never use again.
Rick McMunn found this review useful
Having booked a collection for the following day, the parcel was collected within the stated timeframe. Delivery was attempted the following day and a card left. The recipient used the online system to request a redelivery the following week rather than the following day, which was accepted, but City Link still tried to deliver the following day and left another card. They did, however, then turn up on the rescheduled day and delivered the parcel as requested. So, all in all a reliable service, they just tried to deliver more times than they needed to! I'd be happy to use City Link again.
I have used City Link for a few months now but their service is disgusting. Last week the driver recorded that he had been to pick up the parcel, when in fact he hadn't. We sat in waiting all day for the driver to come but he didn't. What's even worse is that he logged down he had been, when he had not even turned up. we contacted City Link Head Office and they said there wasn't much they could do.
City Link drivers are grumpy, moody and aggressive.
We have now gone over to a different company as we have had enough of City Link.
DO NOT USE CITY LINK
I work in an office which is manned between 7am and 9pm everyday. Posted a card through the goods in door at 2.30pm saying no answer? didn't even try or couldn't be bothered to wait for the door to be answered, obviously expect customers to just sit and wait at the door incase a courier whats to deliver. Also gives their clients a bad name.
Had a few deliveries where goods were damaged. Their warehouses are the pits and usually the staff couldn't care two flying hoots about customers. Always dark and dirty and professionalism is not their motto.
i have had city link on a number of times and i have never had any problems with them, always been able to track my parcel
I worked for these people over christmas and always tried to deliver a high level of service.
However, Ive since left the company and managed to get in touch with 3 of the customers on my old round and they have all stopped using City Link as they are fed up of waiting 3-4 days for their collections.
I've not had many deliveries from these people, but those that I have, well . . . HDNL could learn lessons from them.
They deliver/pickup when they say they will, drivers always helpful (so far) and seem a much more professional outfit.
Unfortunately they seem to be second choice for Amazon (must be due to the contract not the service) but I would use them over any others I have used recently
They miss delivery slots, leave no cards, and have some of the worst customer service ever.
Every time city link has ever tried to deliver anything to us, it's been a disaster (based on 6-8 unique deliveries). They always make the first attempt, always fail because we never seem to be home when they come by, and then the disaster starts. Rescheduling is a nightmare! You select a date on the web, but the driver tries again anyway on the wrong day and then they either a) hold your goods, b) return them to sender, or c) no show on the redelivery date forcing another phone call. We tried to avoid this by paying extra to deliver to our local post office. We got a confirmation email, pitched up at the post office on the arranged day, and our stuff wasn't there! We then had to call them AGAIN and they said it was too big to deliver to the post office. They couldn't call us? They mandate a contact method when you reschedule, so not having our info is no excuse. We now no longer order from merchants who use city link.
Until recently I would have given them 4*'s but now they're lucky to get two as I'm lucky if they turn up at all.
Yet to deliver a parcel to our house despite the fact that every time they have supposedly call we were in the house. We then have to drive 5 miles and wait up to 2 hours to collect the parcel… average has been 45 minutes. They are rude and unhelpful at the depot, there is no where to sit and even elderly people are treated really badly.
I recently had a parcel delivered through City Link. When it didn't arrive I contacted the supplier and was able to locate my parcel with a tracking number. It turned out City Link had apparently tried to deliver the parcel on a day when I was in the house all day. I had not heard the door neither was a card or answerphone message left. The status on City Links website advised the recipient (me) had refused to accept delivery of the parcel. This was obviously news to me. I then only had the option of one day when they could re-deliver as this was when I would be out I then had to arrange for collection from their depot which was difficult as I do not drive.
In defence of the drivers, when you have a picture of your door on-line then a driver is not going to go to your address, write a calling card out, take the photograph, without bothering to knock on your door or ring a bell. Believe it or not the drivers are not psychic and do not know your bell is not working, or your in the back garden or in the shed.
Most people know now when their parcels will be delivered as they get e-mails stating the day it gets delivered. And believe it or not, it is most probably the senders fault for pretending they have sent it out when they haven't even done so.
As for the pet food, i believe the drivers have permission to leave the goods and must not be returned to the depot. There are instructions spaces where you can ask for things to be left, or not left. Instruct the customer you bought the stuff from to put that information on.
My least preferred method of shipping when I buy online is City Link. Not very flexible.
Having already spent a whole day off of work waiting for my parcel it didn't show. After trying to phone what they call a customer service line I was introduced by an automated system which only allows you to track a parcel or talk about a pick up parcel on a premium rate number with no direction to a human being. I phoned again and kept quiet where after two minutes it gave me the option for an advisor. So after already paying them postage, waiting in all day and paying for lengthy times on the phone I get told that there was nothing they could do. I went down to the depot which was thirty miles away so more cost and the parcel was supposed to have been sent back to the sender. He hadn't received it and city link say it's not their responsibility now. So out of pocket by forty quid and still no item. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THESE CHARLATANS THEY HAVE NO CARE FOR YOUR COURIERED ITEMS.
Remember those school reports - 'could do better?' Driver quite aggresive, grumpy and has little motivation to work. Refuses collections saying 'van is full' when it is only has a few parcels on board. Not interested in collecting parcels sent through other companies such as parcel monkey etc - he states they are told NOT to collect them.
Courier companies could be really booming during this recession - Post office are leaving the door wide open to courirs to take over, shopping i now more internet based than ever before - delivery companies should cash in and expand - if they could be bothered!
Dreadful service. Did not turn up on the supposed delivery day
nor the day after. Not much help on the complaints desk either
I had a few replies then an out of office reply which directed me to another member of the team and when I emailed to that member I was told he was on holiday and to contact the previous writer...I have had a refund of the carriage fee but cannot get a refund for the goods from the retailer..
Great service and fantastic drivers especially Edmonton depot
This company is one of the quickest I have known in years
My last two deliveries I have received with Citylink have both been late. My Foodbargains 24 hour delivery, eventually arrived over a week late with the fresh food all spoiled and was delivered over 2 separate days. My Amazon Prime 24 hour delivery arrived after 3 days. I am now at the stage where I dread seeing anything I have ordered is being delivered by them.
I Asked for an item to be collected from my address,
Guess what? They never turned up to collect.
Made a complaint and they said they spoke to the driver who said that i was out when he knocked, LIES!
I was in ALL DAY.
Had to travel miles through rush hour traffic to drop parcel off myself at depot.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
Since they imploded last December, normal service has been resummed and they are efficient and reliable with cheerful staff. Hope they learnt their lesson!
They fail to deliver, and ask me to collect from them 15 miles away!
I drive a mini, and I am meant to collect 80kg of chicken and dog food!!!
This was our 2nd time using this company and had no faults with it at all parcels arrived the day they were supposed to and the drivers were polite.
The only thing we think the company could improve is that it would be better to offer 1hour slots or time slots before 12noon and 10am as you are left in doors all day and if these options where available it would be better for people in the long run.
I would recommend them to others.
We waited in for city link all day. after the 5:30 deadline we checked online to discover that they tried to deliver at 16:27. and left us a note. We could not find a note so we reviewed the CCTV covering the entire close to discover that no City link vehicles had entered the close at all that day.
We printed off the collect from depot form and went to the depot. The item was not at the depot and is now classed as a missing item.
Someone somewhere is lying, and its not me.
I like having parcels delivered by City Link because they come at a convenient time of day.
Great online tracker service, its instantly updated so is 100% spot on they deliverd to me and i wasnt in and they re deliverd for free the following day. Thank You
