It would be easier to list the issues.
1 Rude ( call centre operator ) Abrupt then hung up.
2 Unhelpful ( call centre operator ) Blamed me for not knowing who sent the package.
3 Incompetent ( call centre operator ) Told me that they had tried to deliver the package at 16:40, which was wrong as my card (first attempt delivery) said 15:40 and so did the tracking information online, however I was wrong ?
4 Incompetent ( delivery/driver ) No card placed through the door to tell me the package had been left with neighbour, who also could not be bothered to let us know she had it.
5 Incompetents and Dam Right Annoying (call centre automative system) Does nothing that you tell it to do, then tells you to speak to an operator puts you through only then to be told it is closed and cuts you of.
On a scale of 1 to 10 1 being bad and 10 being good they score -10 yes minus 10 that bad.
They don't even try to deliver. They pretend they have. They don't answer the phone. They don't answer e-mails. They are completely useless. All of them. Hopefully, once their contracts with big retailers expire they will go out of business and the world will be a better place.

After finding a card saying I missed a delivery I tried all evening to call and go online to re-schedule. Website not updated and no place to arrange this saying parcel was still out for delivery yet it was late evening. Several attempts over phone where left hanging on for over 40 mins so gave up due to cost. Very angry and frustrated as don't drive or have a car to go to depot. Useless service and will make sure I let John Lewis know who sent parcels via them. I have sent an email complaint but reading other people's comments it looks like they take no notice- just like phone answering service. Maybe they will listen when I complain to John Lewis. Appalling customer service and back-up!
I also expected a next day delivery on friday 4th january....nothing ! sent complaint via e-mail for an explaination, surprise surprise no reply.their tracking system claimed goods scanned OUT south humberside 3rd jan. 19:53 looked good but no delivery, then checking tracking system 2 DAYS LATER..
goods scanned IN south humberside 5th jan.
2 more e-mails no reply !
monday morning 7th jan.checked tracking system..success out for delivery !
We stay in a tower block of flats,I happened to be at the window and to my surprise spotted CITY LINK van approach our flats and parked out of site,10 minutes latter it LEFT! . My partner happened to be on the ground floor when he entered the flats and ask him are you going to level 5 (our house) he told her no level 15,she noted he had only a small parcel as we where waiting for a vacuum cleaner, quickly checked tracking to find ..NO ONE AVAILABLE TO SIGN FOR GOODS !, they also had the cheek to say they left a calling card,I came to the conclusion it is not the drivers fault as my goods where never on the van otherwise he would have delivered them. More e-mails..silence,
does this for better words delivery company not realise, silence in this instance spells guilt,I am now awiating delivery on 9th maybe pigs will fly !! Not bad CITY LINK for a next day delivery.
p.s. has anyone had an e-mail reply from them?
There is probably only one thing worse than waiting in all day for a delivery from City Link...... Working for them.
When you do finally get them on the phone they just read out scripted lies about attempted delivery etc etc. The two times they claimed to have attempted delivery I was at work, we were open and if they really cared they could look at our CCTV to see that the driver was lying when he said he carded our premises and that we were shut. Only there was no driver, no van, no attempt to deliver because the Company is up shits creek with not enough staff, vans, probably not even enough money to pay for diesel etc.
Please do not use them, please tell your suppliers not to use them and hopefully the shoddy liars will disappear !
Avoid this courier service like the plague as said by another reviewer. My delivery was supposed to arrive between 8.30 and 5.30pm on 3rd january 2013. Waited in all day it didn't arrive.
Sent complaint in that day via their website which says they will respond within 1 working day.
Next day waited in all day, no delivery and no email or phone call to explain why? Sent fuher complaint in to website, still no response 3 days later.
Appalling customer service, they deserve to go into administration the way they treat customers.
Perhaps tomorrow someone may decide to call me or perhaps I may even finally get my parcel. Won't hold my breath though!
Useless, awful, no customer service, no one answers the phones for 45 minutes, no one responds to emails, no one tried to deliver the package, and no one knows where my package is.
Thank you for wasting a day of my life.
NEVER USE THEM, OR ANY COMPANY THAT TRADES WITH THEM.
These guys are absolutely sh@te, you would get the package quicker if you walked to the depot and walked it back. The drivers are the most dismal and rude buch of chimps I have ever come across, and customer service simply does not exist. Would rather shove Lego up my ass then use these baboons.

my parcel was collected from my address by "city link" the 18/12/2012 arrived in peterborough city link depot the 19/12/2012 ready to be delivered, after 10 days the parcel was still un-delivered, i received a complaint from my buyer and i acted immediately. after hours queuing "city link" customer service finally someone answered to the phone and they apoligized and told me that the parcel will be delivered on the 28/12/2012, but it never happened, i called back again and this time they said that my parcel was missing, so i called directly the peterborough city link depot with the hope that someone would help me with this issue, this time i had a positive answer my parcel was found and would be delivered on the 02/01/2013 that is what the cusomer service told me. it was never delivered at all,
i called back again and after waiting for nearly an hour this time, the same lady on the customer services phone told me that my parcel was missing again! simply unbelievable? whatever, the fact is that thanks to city link i have lost a customer also all my money and my reputation as a seller. plus nearly £30 in phone bill !!
i hope that the city link boss is going to investigate what goes wrong in peterborough depot!! before is to late
if you read my customer review please take my comment seriously as the above contents is not my personal opinion it is the actual fact!
very disappointed with "city link" what do you think??
Planned Delivery Date: Wednesday 2nd January
Planned Delivery Time: Between 07:30 and 17:30
Really good and accurate timing, spend all day long at home waiting for what? Nothing at all.
I know it's new years but you collected the item on 31/12 and you promised that it will be with me 02/01. Even tracking says the same. Again - It's a beginning of new years, holidays, lots of parcels, i can imagine what are you going trough.
I never used City Link before but I saw them as a company I can trust. I'm going to Help & Support. There's option - Didn't received my parcel - "I was here all day, your driver didn't arrive", trying to check what are you saying there and what I get?
Please accept our apologies that we were unable to deliver to you today. If this was the first delivery attempt we will automatically attempt to deliver to you again tomorrow (Monday to Friday) unless you reschedule your delivery.
I dont need your apologies, I need my parcel and NO! it wasn't first attempt - you didn't even tried. How you can try again tomorrow if you didn't tried today. Write down the proper answers instead of copying. And for god's sake, get a normal customer service automatic answer machine, because every time I'm trying to ring you I have no option to speak with advisor.
The person below had exactly the same experience as myself and I am now taking them to the small claims court.
They have no respect or thought for the people that keep them in buisness.
No card no delivery for 3 days then they have the nerve to ask me to pick up at the depot.
Two complaints to customer service did not get a reply " Do not use " !
So I ordered my package on the 26th of December and I paid first class delivery (which added an extra fiver onto the cost!!) because I thought 'well the sooner the better.' I was promised I would have it by the 29th. Well on the 27th I tracked the passage and it said city link have received the package. All well and good. No update on the 28th. Then late evening on the 29th (the day i should have recieved it!!!) it said now on route to delivery. Why was my parcel sitting in there warehouse for nearly 48 hours when I paid first class delivery? Anyway it's the 31st now and the item I was promised to receive on the 29th hasn't been delivered! And it's expected for the 5th of January now! Unacceptable considering I paid for 1st class postage. Absolute crap! Will not be buying from ANY company that uses city link again!
Ordered an item with misco which was sent via city link to me. First time had to experience them and had no idea how terrifying they could be. I was told by an email, the package is scheduled for 28th to be delivered. I haven't received the item on due date, as it is easy to be imagined. As I checked the reference number, on the next day, it was still saying 28th is the delivery date, but it was also saying they are keeping my item in depot. Today is 31th, I tried to call them but no success. These people F**K Christmas for everyone! I am worried that I am gonna get my item or not at all after seeing all these reviews.
I ordered a collection, the guy told me the van pulled up then drove off without getting out, I then saw on the tracking he had posted the 'premises was closed and he was unable collect'. The guy was looking at him! Shocking!! The guy rang them and had to rearrange collection for the next day. Just appalling!
Now I don't know when it will arrive because the tracking still says delivery will be YESTERDAY!!?? It also says it is at the delivery depot but I don't know when it will arrive as it is New Years and all that.
So..... will never use again, I have used them once before and they didn't collect due to 'out of time' had to do all the rescheduling myself, why should we have to chase things up ourselves.
Once bitten, and never again, oh never never and no to parcel monkey to who organises them. Parcelmonkey said there are things id place to stop this.... Yeah whatever.
Say no to Citylink
On the 27th I ordered some parts to build a new PC and it was mean't be next day delivery and be delivered on the 28th, It did not come so I said to my-self I'll wait until tomorrow(today) I get up at 7AM and then eventually at 9AM the tracker works and I see that it will be delivered on the 31st, I had no email or anything for this so it's plain luck I saw it, I rang them not to long-ago and I was put on hold straight away and hung up because it costs, I sent an email asking If I could pick it up 1 hour later still no reply.
Didn't turn up to collect, had to re-arrange several times.
Tried once to deliver my parcel, rang my bell and drove off before I could get to the door, and they left no card ... again they never came back, and you can't re-arrange direct with City Link without the reference number on the card.
My parcel that should have been delivered by the 21st of December is now lost - thanks to city link.
Rubbish company avoid at all costs.
City link tried to make a delivery on Tues 18th, I was at work. Rescheduled for Friday 21st but it never came. When I went to track it that evening it said it had been rescheduled for Monday 24th, I submitted an online complaint at this point (which has not been dealt with as yet). Monday came and went with no parcel, rang up numerous times but impossible to speak to anyone. Again went online to track and it said Thursday..... Bet you can guess what I will say next! Today is Friday 28th, I've just gone online to see what it says for today... and it's been sent back to where it came from about 300 miles away and given a new tracking number. Rang up at 8am and got through within 1 minute (yey!). Gave details of tracking etc and girl said it will be delivered today... when I pointed out the geographical issue with this she was stumped! Have been promised a return call with update....

Dear myparceldelivery.com & city link,
I am writing to complain about the non-collection of a parcel on the 22nd of December 2012, and serious let down in customer service.

After booking the service through myparceldelivery.com on the Thursday before, I took a day off work to cater for the collection of the parcel on the Friday. Ensuring that it was to be delivered on Monday, the service I booked was the parcel force next day. Quite simply, your courier didn’t turn up at all. I waited until 3pm and made a call to citylink direct to confirm that a booking had been made. After waiting 45 minutes to get through to someone on an “08” number, I was told that the booking was on the system and due to the busy time of year it could be anything up until 9pm.
I accepted this, but no collection was made and when I rang again the next morning I was told the driver had turned up. This was clearly wrong as he had incorrectly quoted we had a blue door. My primary concern at the time was the delivery not taking place on Monday and therefor would be subject to further Christmas delays. The girl on the phone at city link said if you drive to the depot in Trafford they will be able to ship it as usual and it will be sent down to your depot in Ashford. I felt this to be very unreasonable after paying for a non-existent service, but due to the urgency of the parcel, I had no option.
After driving from Oldham to your depot in Trafford (36 miles round trip) I was welcomed by a gentleman who confirmed that it would not even be dealt with until Thursday! I could not believe it. Not only had I wasted a whole day on Friday for non-collection, I had now been told to drive 18 miles pointlessly from my home early in the morning on Saturday.
A manager asked for my postcode and as soon as I mentioned it, he quoted the drivers name as if a mistake was expected. He said that because of the Christmas demand, city link had employed a lot of temporary drivers. I was offered to make a complaint there but felt my time was best spent looking for an alternative service.
I visited DHL next door and they quoted me £70. The cheapest service I could find was royal mails special delivery. I had to drive to central Manchester and pay £6 for parking as well as having to split the consignment into two as it was over their 10kg threshold. I quite frankly had better things to be doing than spending my Saturday in the pouring rain trying to chase a courier that was capable of doing the job.
In light of this double let down, I feel it is more than reasonable to issue a refund and reimbursement for the fixed costs I had incurred as a result:
Refund of non-existent service: £11.88
Reimbursement @ 40p x 36 miles: £14.40
Cost of royal mail service: £34.80
Cost of purchasing additional parcel due to having to split the consignment: £1.99
City Centre Parking: £6.00
Total: £69.07
I have attached copies of all the receipts to this email and kept the originals for my records. Please appreciate that I have consciously kept these costs down by finding the cheapest courier and by sending one of the split parcels as just standard 1st class. I am also not claiming for my time and therefor I would be grateful if you could action my request promptly.
Regards,
Ben Middlebrook
Wasted ages trying to get through on phone. Left messages but no one ever emailed. Left a mobile number but no one ever texted to update me. Tracking still says delivery 17th December. A shambles. It's the not knowing that's so irritating.
We started using shitty link in November ,this was meant to make life easier for our business. But we should of seen what was coming from day one, they didnt bother turning up to collect our packets, phoned them and their reply was S ORRY W e will collect tomorrow,so another day lost, day 2 same again no collection i had to drive 10 miles to flag down a shitty link van,i could go on and on but i think you get the idea, out of 14 booked collections they turned up twice !!!!!!!
THEY ARE FULL OF SORRIES but no action, alot of the mail they collected is missing and the rest took nearly 2 weeks to deliver
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED DONT LET THEM DESTROY YOUR BUSINESS !!!!!!!!!!!!

IF YOU WANT TO SEND ANYTHING / ANYWHERE DO NOT USE THIS SHOWER OF XXXX THEY MAY BE ABLE TO EXTERMINATE RATS (part of Rentokill) BUT COLLECT AND DELIVER A PARCEL IS NOT THEIR PRIORITY . MIGHT DO SOME GOOD IF THE RATCATCHER GENERAL GAVE A DOSE TO THEIR SENIOR MANAGEMENT, BUT WITH THE LONG & LOUSY HISTORY OF CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY MUST HAVE TOTAL RESISTANCE BY NOW .ANYBODY GOT ANY ALTERNATIVES ?
Had a note pushed through my door saying they tried to deliver something (during working hours so surprise, surprise, I was not in!) and on calling their number, an automated service informs me that they won't redeliver without authorisation from the person/firm that posted it - but of course they won't reveal who that is!
Mr automation does inform me I have five days to collect whatever the hell it is from their Cardiff office though (how convenient - that's only 30 miles away!).
I mean come on guys, COMMON SENSE!!! If you are a courier firm and going to deliver 30 miles from your nearest base, you might want to try and contact the recipient first to find a mutual time rather than waste a journey during a time of day that there is a high likelihood of the recipient not being there to receive the package! I have no idea who used them or what I've missed but if I ever find out I will point out to avoid CityLink at all costs especially if they claim to deliver anywhere (and that includes such rare/uncommon things as towns and villages) - as I rather suspect the clue to their ineptitude and lack of flexibility is in their name!
According to their website they tried to deliver twice. We were in on both occasions on the second only 10ft from the front door having tea. Getting though on the phone is impossible either the automated response without even putting me in a queue or I have to give up - after 45 mins of waiting. Even John Lewis were put on hold fro 5 mins when I contacted their customer service.
As they never came to the house I have no card to collect from the depot.
They told John Lewis that even tho there are 2 full days to go they cannot be bothered to try to deliver again and that i must stay in all day on the 27th and 28th. This seems pretty pointless as they do not even come anywhere near my house, which is 60 years old and in an urban environment -hardly difficult to find. The number is on the door.
It seems that City Link are purely driven by profit and as long as the likes of amazon and John Lewis use them they will regard their customers as dirt- .from their drivers to their delivery depots to customer services, which have failed to respond to two complaints left on their site. Presumably they use a cheap skate sat nav or their is no customer care incentive to get out of their cabs and deliver -simply mark as not in
IT JUST GETS WORSE
On Friday 28th I was phoned by Ion Audio, the firm despatching on John Lewis's behalf. They told me to wait in for two whole days whilst citty link pretended to deliver again. I said i wanted my money back. I looked on the city link siteto-day 31st dec and saw that my parcel, far from being at Ion Audio it is in fact out for delivery again. Even allowing for Sundays and bank hols this is six days of inaction by john lewis/ion audio/city link. None of these organisations bothered to let me know that they were going to ignore my request and continue with the pretend deliveries. But as the driver won't even get out of the van I don't suppose it will make any difference whether there is anyone here or not
On the 27th I found that city link 'customer service' had deleted my online complaints and instructions. They have my e-mail and phone number but all I ever got was an automated e-mail.
From other consumer sites it would seem that John Lewis have known of city links reputation for at least two years but continue to use them - which says something about JL.
Looking up City link on wiki is illuminating -from its founding by minicab drivers (says it all) to its computer foul ups to its current financial status.
I think the parcels do not leave the depot, a small quantity get to lgo out on the raod the rest are simply scanned at the beginning of the day and then just scanned again later on and marked as delivery attempted.
IN SHOCK
Parcel delivered at 2,15. Honest driver too - they never attempted delivery before christmas. The parcel was marked that Ion audio had instructed city link to deliver despite me saying to them on the 28th to return the parcel to themselves and give me my money back
They seem to use white vans now - probably too risky to be out on the road in marked van.
SUGGEST - only use Royal Mail -reliably delivered to neighbours before and after christmas AND mention the online retailer who has chosen to use city link to deliver despite city links reputation when posting your views on consumer sites
Why are you in business city link? Is it to ruin peoples christmas?
Amazon, why do you insist on using city link when you can clearly see that thousands of people THOUSANDS have complained?
I can be bothered to write my story - esentially city link didnt deliver, again. Thanks guys - you ruined our children's christmas.
I ordered an item at John Lewis, and paid extra for a named day and delivery slot of before 10.30am. The item hasn't turned up (it's now 4pm), they are not taking telephone calls (a recorded message says the call volume is too high, please call later) so I have no way of knowing whether the item will be delivered today or not, my day has been ruined as I've been waiting in and unable to do anything else, and having read all the terrible reviews of CityLInk both on this forum and on others, I'm now facing the stress and anxiety of the possibility that the item ( a gift for my boyfriend) doesn't turn up before Christmas at all.
I am very angry and frustrated with CityLInk, but actually, even more angry with John Lewis, for contracting with a delivery company who are the subject of so many complaints and so much customer misery. Shame on them.
I paid £17 for next day delivery before PM, yesterday. They said on the track that they would be delivered between 7:30am - 12pm. They were not delivered before PM. However, they were delivered at 1:44pm today which I'm fairly satisfied with. The goods were in perfect condition and I am happy with the parcel.
First they fail to deliver, but pretend they did. We were in at the time they claim they delivered, and not even a "you were out" card left. So I track it down, and request delivery 3 days later knowing I'll be away for 2 days - and they just dump it on the doorstep while we're away! I raise a complaint, and they respond with an automated email saying that as they've now resolved it and talked to me the case is closed - but they haven't contacted me at all!!! This is just staggeringly bad and I wish Amazon would stop using them. Why pay for Prime if the courier is rubbish!!??
Here I am again giving another review for city link.
I gave my first bad review about a week before Christmas.
Here is another one for the same package that still has not been delivered even though it's been in the City Link network since the 17th of December (supposed to be delivered before Christmas now it's the 9th of January).
After phoning there rather amusingly titled 'helpline' for a third time, I have now been informed that they don't know where my package is? Amazing! Initially I was told the parcel could not be delivered due to my address being "wrong or incomplete" even though I've used the same address numerous times on previous orders from Amazon?
City Links annual turn over is £300 million but they aren't worth two bob. Useless!
They don't give a monkeys about their customers, lie to you, don't answer their phones or take over 30 minutes pick up on a premium rate number, don't answer email either or call you back.
I think City Link are rubbish. Why do Amazon use them? I running out of bad things to say about them.
I usually don't bother with this kind of thing as life is too short but their useless, rubbish service has caused me lots of aggro and there is no way to get through to them.
After receiving a text on Monday 17th saying my parcel will be delivered between 07:30 & 17:30 on Tuesday 18th, I am still waiting and this is now day 4. I have tracked my parcel on and off the van each day and called the incompetent robots at the customer service (lol) centre. Each day i have been advised it will be there the next day and they cannot tell me any further information as the parcel is on the van and will be delivered up to 9pm. This has got to be the worse service possible. After someone has waited in for a full day to no avail, you would think that this company would then make it a priority not to let them down a second day but this is no ordinary company its CITY LINK therefore they do not care if it is the second, third or fourth.
Citylink are the most incompetent courier I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Not through choice either. Firstly their drivers deliver the wrong boxes to the wrong homes. Is it that hard to read the box? Then when you call to chase your delivery they put you on hold for ages only to tell you they couldn't get through to the depot but they'll call you back. They don't call back. Apparently they are sitting on parcels from early December, forcing people to drive to the depots. The most useless bunch of idiots going. Like a slow painful death. Avoid at all costs.
City link are THE most USELESS courier I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I paid through the nose to have a package delivered for today, I have waitied in the house all day on my last day off before Christmas and nothing. I have now been on hold for an hour trying to find out what is going on. Absolutely disgusting!!!!
Now then, City Link, A courier that Ive used for ages, Sent loads of parcels through them and never really had a problem but over the last 3 months the amount of complaints Ive heard have been unreal but not really experienced until now!
New driver in one of my main collection areas(Blackpool) too is an absolute idiot who refuses to take items and has no understanding of his job and on this occassion hasnt even been in to collect the item!
I will never use city link again, EVER!
On this occassion I had a bench seat out for delivery since the 17th on a guaranteed next day pre noon at a cost of nearly £30, Financially it wasnt worth it for me but I really wanted to keep my customer happy, They had waited long enough for the item as it was.
Today is the 20th, They still havent collected it and were less than useful in the way they didnt try helping at all, just the "oh well, Its christmas soon" attitude.
Due to this my customer has family coming around on Monday who have NOWHERE TO SIT! This is completely unacceptable, I paid through the nose to have a satisfied customer and to be able to sleep at night!
I used to love the efficiency of city link but they have fast become a completely disgusting company to deal with, I wouldnt send a pencil through them if I needed it in a month!
One of my main companies that I deal with send thousands of parcels through DPD and they only have a failure rate of something like 0.030%, Needless to say Ill be opening an account with them in the new year!
Still trying to call customer services to find when i can go to the depot to get my parcel but gave up after 15 minutes of automated rubbish. They can't even tell you how many people are in the queue in front of you. The website is equally useless at trying to find where your parcel is. I will not willingly use this company.
I am due to go on holiday to the States this year on the 22nd to spend Christmas with my wife and her family. We have just got married, so I ordered a canvas print of our favourite wedding photo to give to her. I had no idea that Tesco used Citylink, and if I had known this I would have gone elsewhere for the canvas as I have had a LOT of problems with them in the past.
I was at work when they tried delivering yesterday, so was left a "sorry we missed you" card. As I was at work today I wanted to arrange for them to leave the package with a neighbour. So I left a note on my door stating "City Link: PLEASE call me at work on ****. This is very important. Thank You." When I got to work, I then called City Link and was on hold for 45mins before finally getting through to someone. This person told me that he would ask the driver to leave it with a neighbour, and even took down their house number and the numbers of a few other houses he could leave it with.
When I got home today, another "sorry we missed you" card was waiting for me on which the driver had scrawled "no credit on my phone to call - sorry". On the back of the card there is a tick next to "2nd missed delivery" and instructions saying that I now need to collect it from the depot in the next 5 working days or it will be returned to sender. The depot is 20 miles away, I can't drive and I'm going to the States in two days' time.
I have had several almost identicle experiences with City Link in the past, but this time it looks like their unbelievable incompetence has ruined a surprise Christmas gift for my wife. I cannot put into words how much I hate this company.
As a courier company they must be near the bottom of the list for customer service. Two days I have waited for a parcel to be collected, it is still here and now they are saying that it won't be delivered in time for Christmas. Ha!
It's a box full of presents, when else would I want it delivering?
I booked in plenty of time but no, they couldn't keep their part of the contract. The sad, annoying part is that if they had said there was a doubt before I booked I could have made other arrangements.
Ordered a bike on Monday but wanted to return to sender so went online to request return to sender on tracking page. 2 surprises; apparently they had called and nobody was at home on Tuesday, when I had been in all day. And secondly they then delivered the bike on Friday despite it clearly stating it was going back to sender. I made the mistake of ordering a second item on Thursday which should have arrived Friday but did not. I called on saturday and was informed that it didn't get scanned at depot until Fri evening so I let them off and explained situation regarding unwanted bike they had delivered and was told that they would collect the bike and drop off the new one on Monday (easy enough surely?). So Monday came and went and no courier, no contact and 30min waiting on phone that evening to explain situation again. I was then assured that my new bike would be delivered and older bike picked up on Tuesday. So Tuesday came and went and no bike and no contact so I called again and also emailed to get a callback that morning which is yet to happen. I was told this time that my bike was held by the depot for no given reason and that no notes had ever been added to request pick up of older wrongly delivered bike. I had enough by this point and requested the line manager to call me back and tell me my bike was being collected so 20 minutes later I got a call (yay?). The chap told me I would have to contact sender to re-arrange collection and that there was a back-log at the depot and would I like to go pick the item up! I pointed out the fact that they 'deliver' and that they should simply pick the bike up since as they cocked it up. I have now contatced Sender as I have no customer power and was reminded that since as (no lie)I was not Amazon that they would not sort this almighty debacle for me. So the sender is now attempting to sort this issue out.
Avoid at all costs, I will never order an item that is being delivered by City-link again!
There have now been three occasions in the last year when we were not in to collect a City Link parcel so we rearranged it for another day, made special arrangements to stay in all day (there is no flexibility here to give a range of times - you have to stay in all day), waited in, and then the delivery did not turn up.
They say we'll have to pick it up from their depot if the 2nd delivery does not work, yet that's 25 miles away!! The petrol alone would probably cost more than the cost of the package we've had sent!
There are numerous places here they could leave the parcel, but there is no flexibility for us to tell them where to leave it, or who to leave it with.
I would urge any company considering use them for their deliveries to use another provider. We haven't had any issues with any other courier firm delivering to us - I don't know why City Link have such problems.
Appalling service.
The worst excuse for a courier in the history of the world, full stop.
No-one can even compare. I could walk to pick up the package quicker than they could deliver and it's not like I live in the middle of nowhere.
