Not bad for next day delivery!!... (my ars*)
all was well had two parcels to be picked up on Wednesday the man came he seemed abit put off there was two heavy parcels but took them out without help so I was pleased...next day had a msg off the person I was sending to saying he has received 1 box when I wen to track the other I cant because they have used the same tracking number for both so one has been delivered and other is missing after ringing they said they havnt a clue where it is and will ring us back next day I rang them again to be told they still havnt a clue were it is!!! im hoping it will get delivered in the next couple of days if not im going to be out off pocket big time because either they are lazy or thieves and liars I swear I will take it further but im avoiding in the furture and im shocked there still in business.
I ordered some items on Monday 19th August and the supplier told me to expect them on Wednesday 21st. I received detail of the City Link consignment No and saw that on Wed morning it was shown as loaded on van for delivery, by evening it was back in the depot, same again on Thursday and again on Friday. As they only have an 0844 number for contact I completed the form on their website asking what had happened. No one at any point made contact via either my email address, my landline or mobile, all of which they had. On 26th & 27th the parcel remained in their depot then after two further complaint emails from me, out for delivery again on both 28th and 29th. Of course it never arrived and nobody contacted me in any way. So mid morning on 29th the Consignment number is changed so it looked as though they had only just received it. In desperation I phoned and was assured that delivery would be on Fri 30th. Needless to say their website still shows it today (30th) in their depot and at no point has anyone from City Link contacted me. After speaking to the supplier I am now told there will be a special delivery by City Link to me tomorrow (Saturday) - I'm not holding my breath!
whats the point in them sending you a text message saying delivery between 7.30 am and 5.30pm so you wait in all day for nothing at all to arrive. The excuse i got when i rang ( after been a a Que for 27 minutes) he had a lot of collections to do. Now i have another full day yet again from 7.30 am to 5.30pm to wait in. Next time i order anything im going to ask if they use City Link and if they say they do they will be told i will order from elswhere. Maybe if people started to do this then the companys would stop using them and they would have to pull their socks up.
This is the second time I have had trouble with this company. Have waited in all day for a parcel to be collected that I paid to be sent 24hr from me only to be told that it had been 'un-actioned'. Asked why and what this means and just got told 'I don't know the driver probably ran out of time. So now I look like I'm wasting someone else's time after promising them a delivery day... and to be uninformed until I contacted them is unacceptable... this is not what I paid for.
I ordered something 3 weeks ago and had yet to get it. So I chased the shop I ordered it from, they told me city link had delivered it on the 8th of august (I found this out today) it was left at The little Crown Pub (not the type of place I usually frequent). They left me no note to tell me this and after 3 weeks guess what..... The landlord of the pub has moved on. So now I have to chase a package that I should have been told was near me 3 bloody weeks ago!! Brilliant. If someone is delivering you something by city link, You probably aint getting it (oh also not the first bad experience I have had with city link)
I was expecting my parcel to be with me on last Monday. But I didn't get it so I went online to track where it was on last Tuesday. And the tracking system said it was delivered yesterday (Monday). I phoned up City Link telling them that I haven't received it but your system says it's delivered. In reply City Link employee told me that there is some "system problem" and their driver will come to my address and deliver the parcel tomorrow (Wednesday). Driver didn't come on Wed, I phoned up city link again on Thursday and they told me that driver had some problems yesterday but will sure come today. They kept making false promises it until Friday evening, when a city link employee admitted on a phone call that the item was delivered to "WRONG" address but they can't do much today. I've to wait until next Tuesday (next Monday was a bank holiday). Today (Tuesday), I phoned up City Link to ask if the driver is finally coming to my address so I can ask him where did he deliver the item? They kept promising me for whole of last week that driver will come but today they said that driver is saying that item has been delivered to correct address so they can't help much. I've to contact my sender and go thru all the mess.
Also, they're saying the parcel was signed by "*****” (my last name only), they don't have signature or name of the person who accepted the delivery on their record!! They’re absolute bunch of liars. I have even call records of the phone calls I've made in which their employee admitted that parcel was delivered to wrong address. I'll sue them if I don't get my money back, because I've enough evidence that they've attempted to cheat me by lying.

Missed first delivery attempt so took day off work to make sure I was in for delivery next day as they promised, package never arrived. Called City Link and after a lot of debate informed me package would arrive the next morning! I was very clear when I asked if it would be delivered next day and the female call handler said yes.....she was a liar as nothing came next morning, again another day wasted!
I called to complain again and when I informed them I was promised delivery the previous day and that they had lied they denied it. I requested to hear the call centre recording they told me it was, surprise surprise unavaiable like the call centre supervisor!
The worst service and customer relations I have ever had!
Avoid like the plague!
I have had the worst experience with City Link deliveries unlike alternatives such as DPD who have always been honest and on time with me. Twice in one month I have waited in for a 'Next Day' delivery item only to discover the item showed up as 'Successfully delivered' on their website even 'signed for by somebody'. when I queried this I was told the items were still on the van but for sure would be delivered the following day.
Grrr after 3 whole days waiting in my items were finally delivered after 5pm on the third day. I think they just say 'delivered' on the tracking system to show they have fulfilled their obligation on record. Their code of conduct and operating practices need serious attention. Worst most frustrating experience. Avoid!

Not the first time it has happened. Shows up as delivery attempted and card left, even though nobody has knocked on the door, and no card has been left; at least, not in my letterbox it hasn't.
Either the driver is being disingenuous, or they could not locate the address correctly. Whichever it is makes no difference to me: I still have no bloody parcel!!
Shambolic, incompetent, and liars too. That could be the new company slogan.
SO BAD IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL !
NEVER CALLED TO COLLECT NEXT DAY PARCELS.... LOOKING LIKE THEY ARE NOT GOING TO CALL FOR TODAY'S BATCH EITHER.
No sense from their inaptly named 'helpline'
Avoid like the PLAGUE if you want to stay in business
I needed to post out 4,500 x 400g brochures, when I eventually got through they wanted a consignment number ? I explained what I wanted to doa nd 30 mins later they gave me another number o call. OK so fair enough until I realise they gave me a number that doesnt work :(
Called City Link back took 8 minutes to answer once again wanted consignment number. I explained the problem and the lady came back with the same incorrect number :(
They have said they will get someone to call me but I cant help thinking what a rubbish company :(
Unfortunately City Link deliver for Amazon under the Prime program. They make Prime completely pointless as they repeatedly fail to deliver on the designated day.
Today's latest City Link fail was a card pushed through the door saying the parcel was with a neighbour. The driver didn't even bother to knock on our door. We were in the front room at the time. Obviously our neighbour was outside and it was easier just to give it to them than attempt delivery.
Amazon, ditch this company or I'll ditch your Prime program for good.
this company in my opinion can not be trusted to get your parcel from A to B
Another example yesterday I ordered something from ebay, after a week I called the ebay vendor who explained City Link could not find my address, why? everyone else can in any case nobody has knocked on my door all week left a card told me the parcel has been sent back nothing....... The company could not even be bothered to contact me regarding my complaint, Today I found my parcel at the Local Post office, they were in the process of returning it again to the sorting office because they only addressed the parcel to the post office without my name or any letter nothing so they thought it was sent in error
I would use Post Office or Tnt or anyone else apart from City Link
they are a ........ company AVOID
My one and only experience with Citylink has been poor, but not a horror story really. Firstly when I tracked my parcel from Amazon the site said that delivery was expected that very day (or so I thought), I waited in and about 4pm decided to call the local branch, the phone number is a premium rate, as a mobile phone user I am aware of these and thanks to saynoto0870 I did find a landline number, and to be fair I was answered quickly, that's when it started to go downhill, the very helpful staff member checked for me and told me that no the parcel wasn't with them and was in fact lost. I reported this to Amazon who called me to explain that the parcel was coming from Germany and hadn't arrived in England yet, as it hadn't arrived within 24 hours it had gone on Citylinks records as missing, that's not what the site said when I checked it said it was on its way and anticipated delivery was that day. On advice from Amazon I left it two days before tracking again, now the Citylink system wouldn't let me in to check and it was the same the next day. The parcel arrived, I have to say that it was within the allotted window set by Amazon but until it appeared I didn't know this, plus the delivery window of 0730 to 17.30 is appalling, DPD give a one hour window and you can track where the delivery man is up to if they are late, they show a map with my house on it and the drivers van, they tell you what number your delivery is and what number the driver is on, I became a virtual stalker until my parcel arrived, not so Citylink. However today, four days after the delivery they did phone to check the delivery had arrived, so extra star for that. It's not that they were terrible, just a bit disorganised, difficult to understand tracking info and not very customer oriented.
I have used these clowns a few times and every time an item has gone missing. They only pay you back in weight and one of the items I sent was a £280 sovereign coin which of course only weighs 8 grams. They gave me £7.
don't waste your time with these unprofessional jokers, they will take your money and run!
Poor Poor Poor, they will be closed down soon enough!
Forgot to collect my parcel on an urgent 24h delivery, then tried to blame the traffic. I live beside the only road to and from the local CitiLink depot, to which they had absolutely no answer. They also refused to refund the difference between a 48h and 24h service. Will not be using again...
For the 3rd time in 18 months they have failed to attempt delivery to our (open) business premises on a Saturday. To add insult to injury we are told that the delivery was attempted and a card was left. I'm guessing these cards self destruct in 20 seconds, because we are yet to find one.
If you need something delivered on a Saturday, find someone else.
No problem with weekday deliveries.
Booked a "Next day delivery", 26 paintings wrapped in 8 large parcels. They were collected by a man in a plain white van, who said he had no paperwork for anything for me to sign. 3 hours later another Citylink van arrived, and the second guy insisted I signed HIS console, even though he didn't collect the paintings. It goes without saying that the paintings arrived 3 days late, meaning blank walls at the exhibition, and the cancellation of the opening. I had travelled down myself for the opening, paying for 2 nights in a hotel plus travel. As if that wasn't bad enough, one parcel of ten painting is now "lost, and will not be found". The tracking showed it didn't even make it to the depot in my town where it was collected, which means it is still on the first idiot's van. Or has fallen out of it, which isn't surprising when I saw the way he squashed my valubale stuff into his manky old Transit. And trying to claim for this - they say the will do nothing, and the case is closed. To make matters even worse, the guy who collected my stuff and basically must have taken it home for 3 days appeared at my door with an item I'd ordered from Amazon, and denied everything when questioned about my missing paintings. It's bad enough when they lose items (how does that even happen?!) but when they basically laugh at you for being so stupid as to trust them, it's beyond a joke. The customer service is simply appalling.
was waiting for the next day delivery for more than 10 days... They claim they attempted to deliver the item 3 times and calling cards left... They never left any card and never ever have been to my address as I'm working from home at all the time. They just ignore their customers and not deliver parcels, claiming - nobody at home, calling card left. Avoid like bad smell
I have sent around 10 parcels at various times with City Link and four scheduled for collection weren't collected.
This includes the one today.
When tracking the parcel the driver has left a note on there website to say the premises were closed and couldn't collect at 16.17 p.m.
At all times someone had waited in ALL day and today they were in the front garden all afternoon.
Why can't the drivers be honest and just say it's getting late and they couldn't be bothered.
I will never use City Link again and am trying to find every review site possible to to let others know they are useless.
Paid for next day delivery and they did not collect my parcels for 3 days. Disgusting and there incompetence has nearly ruined my business as I promised the customer next day delivery and they are not happy. I WILL NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
Waited in all day for a delivery. Never came but citylink claim they did try to deliver & no one was home. I could see the door at the time they claim to have tried to deliver & so know for a fact this is a lie! Contacted city link & they apologised for the fact no card had been left seeming to miss the point that no delivery was attempted. Now waiting in again!
Of all courier firms these are just the worst we have experience with. We get a lot of deliveries from several suppliers (for example the drivers of some firms know us so well that they actually wave when they see us as they pass through our village on other deliveries). City Link are the only ones we have problems with - and this is consistently.
Today was the final straw, they were supposed to be delivering a small package which is needed to finish a wedding cake for tomorrow. The item in question cost less than the City Link premium delivery cost to get it to us today.
Knowing that we can't see our front door (we are in a first floor flat - only one of two, but our door is about 10 feet from the outside door) - we had left a note on the door saying do not take package away under any circumstances. Both the outside door and internal door were left standing wide open, but they still managed to avoid making the delivery. The driver had managed to write a response to our note saying that he couldn't leave the parcel without a signature, but he must have been careful to make no noise while doing it given we were waiting for it and listening.
Further benefit is that they also make themselves difficult to speak to - the telephone service (premium rate) is an automated rescheduling line with no human contact options. Managed to speak with complaints department (15 minutes waiting to get through on another premium rate line) who have said they tried to deliver it but couldn't.
We have been in touch with the suppliers already and talked to them about their use of City Link. They are a small company and based on our conversations they will not be using City Link again. Given the other comments in this site I really doubt City Link care, however, if they lose sufficient customers, then maybe they will be forced to think about how they work.
This company is a complete shambles, I have never had a parcel collected on time and have had to rebook up to 3 times and make constant calls to customer services before a collection is made. The driver says he is never notified of the collections, though head office insist he has been; I have tried to resolve this problem with them but they seem indifferent to the distress and inconvenience they cause . I booked this last collection through a different company (Parcelmonkey) but it is the same old problem. I see that the overall rating here is 1.4 out of 10 and that just about sums them up. Today customer services said they would 'send him a reminder' (why should he need one?) but his scanner isn't working. It is the last time I ever use them (or try to).
I needed to return a large parcel and decided to use Citylink as they are quite a well known company. I waited in ALL day yesterday for a collection, still no collection yet this morning so I phoned Interparcel. com who I booked the collection through and was told there was nothing they could do and I would have to wait in all day again! When I told them that I can't wait in all day and could they give me a approx time they said no City link do not operate like that and they can't give approx times!! I am fuming.
Also remembered that I ordered something from Amazon a year ago and waited in for a delivery which once again didn't arrive until the following evening!! Please do not use this firm!!!!
Today a parcel was due to be picked up from Cheshire. The seller waited in all day and in fact SAW THE CITY LINK VAN DRIVE PAST THEIR HOUSE. City Link then advised us in Cornwall that they couldnt pick up the parcel because no one was home.
I have tried to contact them tonight to talk about this but this was not possible.
The seller has driven around the streets until he found a City Link van and gave it to them as they couldnt BE BOTHERED TO CALL AT HIS HOME.
they are really really awful. recently moved into a new build property - had many couriers deliver no problems, even City Link themselves came once. ONCE. ive since had 2 other parcels sent via City Link, and neither turned up. no call. no explanation. nothing. in fact no communication from them whatsoever. the first parcel i managed to get sent back to the retailer only because i told them what was going on. the second one City Link still have and at the time of writing no sign at all of them or it.
in summary - DO NOT USE THIS BUNCH OF COWBOYS. stick with Parcel force, DHL, Yodel etc - at least they turn up or call if theres a problem.
My blood is beginning to boil. Cannot believe I have a contract with arguably the worlds most incompetent courier.
We used City Link to send parcels for our fishing tackle shop
Send a parcel to a customer last Thursday for next day delivery. Had a call on Friday questioning where the parcel was, looked at the tracking and could see it had been signed for. Customer informed me they had not signed for it.
It was too late to call City Link so dropped them a line on Monday, they spoke to the driver who said: "I forged the signature and left the parcel safe"
I am gob smacked. Parcel cannot be found, City Link have asked the driver to call back round several times to show the customer where it is and he has failed to do so. Cannot find the items and I have had to issue a full refund to the customer.
Booked out parcels with City Link for next day delivery. they failed to collect the entire consignment. All rolled over until Tuesday
All parcels collected including Mondays. Driver failed to deliver them to the depot.
Wednesday issue (today):
Thursday issue still not resolved.
Mondays items still in Cardiff depot
Tuesdays items still in Cardiff depot
Are City link bothered? Not quite as much as me.
Made 8 calls to City link over the past 3 days with promises that they will deal with this and call me back. Failed again as I had to keep chasing.
Never, never, never, never, ever again. I will also refuse to take any parcels in from my suppliers who use City Link.
Just frustrating that complaints fall on deaf ears.
Would love the mobile number or email for the MD just vent my anger. But would he be interested? I doubt it !
Fantastic service, some of my suppliers send stock to me with City-Link and I have to say I was very impressed. Fast service, easy to track, and my parcel arrived in good condition. I am yet to send a parcel with them but I would not hesitate when the opportunity arises.
Very friendly driver also! He even carried the parcel into the hallway for me, how pleasant.
The driver, called me to come out of my block to get my parcel, a huge parcel, I came out to find he wasn't even outside, I called the number that he rang me from with no answer, just to watch a white van come round the corner a minute or 2 later (I am already unhappy with this service). When I get to the van, the driver is moving boxes around I then worst packed van I have ever seen, this did not look safe, he then dragged my delicate order out of the van, hitting the ledge of the van and then the pavement pretty hard. The lazy man reached in his van and pulled out the paperwork, maybe he is getting it out of the way I thought, he can't be leaving me here to carry this into my flat alone, but oh yes, he asked me to sign and print my name on his sheet and got back in his van and drove off. I tried to stop him for help but nothing, this lazy man even waved at me as he drove off.
I can't believe that this is a service people are expected to pay for.
Don't use this service.
There is nothing to say that others haven't already covered. They lie, don't deliver, and have the most absurd online 'tracking information'. According to their site my order is still out for delivery last Friday. It is now Tuesday! City Link please, please go bust so decent companies stop using you and inflicting your terrible service on their customers. You are dire.
I am absolutely tired of this company, what is worst is that people is still using it. All started 6 months ago, when I brought something from amazon which I wanted to be delivered the next day, been waiting all day, then around 15:30, I checked online, to my surprised, it was saying that an delivery attempt was made and a missed-you card was left. Wait a second, 1. I live in a flat with two rooms, I have a dog, even if you came near the door, that dog will bark until someone told him not to and 2. There was no "I missed you card".
4 months ago, I order something from amazon again, they didn't provide me with a tracking number so I waiting for 2 weeks, then I decided to call Amazon and asked them about my item, they told me that is with city link and they gave ma an order number, after that I called city link, they told me that the driver tried to deliver the item twice, no one was home and cards were left. I told them that there were no cards left. At that point I made a complain on their website regarding this and I kept the email as proof.
3 months ago, I brought something from screwfix, they gave me the tracking number, to my disappointment was city-link. Been waiting for 2 days, wake up around 8 to make sure that I was up before they came, left all the doors open so I can hear the door bell, after 4 hours of waiting, decided to check the website, yet again, the driver tried to deliver the item, no-one was home and a missed-you card was left. I am just 23 years old and my hearing is perfectly fine, there was no doorbell ringing, my dog didn't bark at all except when the mail man came and again, no bloody missed-you card. I made another complain, keeping the emails as proof.
1 moth ago, I brought something from ebay, again city link, 14 days of waiting, no missed you card, another complain.
2 weeks ago, order something from ebay, city link, 14 days of waiting, no missed-you card, not I opened a case from ebay to get the order number so I can make another complain which then I can make a formal complain to the relevant authority.
My suggestion to you, is stop using this company, they are not supposed to be into the delivery business, an unorganized business, don't know who's to blame, the people who hired the drivers or the drivers them self, but clearly there is a big problem with this company and no-one seems to take any action against it.
As a result of this, my orders from amazon has stopped, now I always look for alternative websites, something even finding better deals and from ebay, every time I want to buy an item, I always ask which company they used for delivery, if the name city-linik comes out, then I start looking at other sellers.
I was in Aberdeen on holiday, and my US to UK voltage converter stopped working and I couldn't charge my phone. I went to several shops in Aberdeen in hopes of finding one, though I figured it was something they wouldn't have much need to carry. I found one on Amazon UK and ordered next day delivery, which cost £ 7.99, more than the cost of the converter. When I told my boyfriend about it, he said we should wait for the delivery, since it had taken him a month to finally get his new phone delivered from City-Link. We were at the flat all day. I checked Amazon tracking. It said that for some unknown reason, the package had been sent to Peterborough, in southern England, but had been corrected and sent back to Aberdeen and was out for delivery as of 2:00.
I checked Amazon later since it still hadn't arrived. Now it said an "attempted delivery" was made at 1:00. We were there at the time, no one rang the bell and there was no attempted delivery notice. There are clearly marked bells for each flat and a service bell for the post. We even tested them. I called City-Link and told them this. They said that deliveries were finished and they'd delilver it the next day. I asked if I could be one of the first deliveries, since it was their mistake. She said they couldn't give me an estimated time, and that I should call after 8 the next morning. I called at about 10 and the man who answered said that I sounded "fed up" and that the van was in the area and should be at the flat within the next 2 hours. He finally came at 12 noon.
I reported it to Amazon on the order feedback, but they didn't respond. I said that they should not use such an unreliable service. Of course, I didn't get the £ 7.99 delivery charge back.
Another friend from Portlethen said that she had a problem with them not delivering her entire order and had to spend the afternoon on the phone with them to get an answer.
I'm tempted to bring an extra converter with me next time.
Waited in all day Friday for what I thought was a Tuffnells delivery. They appeared on Monday to collect as arranged but had no delivery. I contacted the company to be told order was being despatched via citylink instead. When I checked the tracking it showed attempted delivery at 15:40 on the Friday and card left which was a load of tosh. We were waiting in all day and no card was left. Am now waiting in all today (monday) for the re delivery. Can I see wild geese.....
