Awkward process for outside EU or GB

I found it extremely awkward and inconvenient when I was told that I either had to pay VAT (value added tax) or pay for the "free worldwide shipping".

I am a Canadian resident and therefore am VAT exempt, or so I have been when shopping from the UK previously.

Country Attire informed me that they use the VAT to cover their shipping costs..this to me seems odd as here in Canada we don't use federal taxes to cover business expenses..

Either way the entire process was far too slow and a pain in the ass, the saving grace was that the Americans wanted 600$ for the same jacket so in the end I didn't make out so bad.

PS. Aside from being extremely polite... The staff is thoroughly useless

    Good morning Mark,

    Thank you for your review and I'm so sorry that you remain disappointed in our policy with regard to VAT/Delivery.

    As per our conversation via email; we do offer free shipping on all orders as standard, however as a UK company we also charge UK VAT at the current rate of 20% on all orders as standard.

    This VAT contributes towards the high costs of shipping to destinations outside the EU, allowing us to offer the above free shipping.

    As such if we are to remove VAT, which isn't standard practice, we would also need to add shipping costs - this is simply company policy and we can only apologise for the inconvenience that it has undoubtedly caused in this case.

    We do have a large base of customers from outside the EU, and within it too, and you can see many of their reviews of our service here on Trustpilot.

    I'm glad to hear that you found our staff to be polite, good manners are fundamental to good service and I hope that we can build on this foundation to continue to provide the highest levels of customer service as indicated by the majority of our feedback from customers.
