I ordered 8 plants from Crocus all of which arrived together the next day (despite delivery being quoted as 2-3 days!) Having not ordered living plants online before, I was somewhat concerned about the state they'd be in on arrival. I needn't have worried as everything was well secured and obviously well watered prior to dispatch.
All plants are now in the ground and are so far looking fit and healthy! I'll certainly use again.
I have made several orders from Crocus since I found out about them online about 6 months ago and have probably spent £200-300 on plants (mainly shrubs, but also plug plants and small trees). So far, I've always been very impressed by the health of the plants, the packaging and the delivery information. The plant size/cost of plants from Crocus, even given a delivery charge, seem fair to me compared with a good (& large) nursery in Harlow, Essex, that I sometimes visit. I've spoken to staff about changing orders and enquiring about delivery dates and found them all to be very helpful. The couriers they use to deliver here seem to take good care of the packages, it sounds like that isn't always the case from other reviews. The information and pictures on the website are very good, but I also find it useful to google images of shrubs I'm interested in to check what they'll look like fully grown or double-check colours, for example.
I am a pensioner and have been gardening all my life. I've used Crocus for some years now as their plants have always been a good size and quality and very well packed. The last year or so however has seen a marked deterioration in plant quality and had quite a few failures. Yesterday I took delivery of three bare root blackcurrants which were thick with leaves but unfortunately had so much dried out that the leaves were completely wilted and the roots completely dry. I put them straight in a bucket of water overnight and as I picked them up this morning to plant them all the leaves fell off. When I complained I was told that this was the way bare root plants should be. Take it from me, Crocus, bare root plants should NOT be allowed to dry out in this way. They are out in the garden now and hopefully will recover as blackcurrants are tough, but I won't be buying from Crocus again.
Plants were not well packed. Some of the plants were in a very sorry state- not worth the money and I would not have bought these plants if I saw them in a plant centre. Also, I was advised that part of the order would take much longer so I decided not to wait and pay for it to be delivered separately. Then crocus delivered that part of the order ONE day after the rest- I definitely could have saved myself the additional delivery charge. I would not recommend this company.
After reading reviews about several companies I decided to use Crocus based on what others had said. I was not disappointed at all. On Friday the 9/08 I ordered the evergreen Jasmine Trachelospermum jasminoides. The plant arrived on Monday 11/08 far ahead of my expectation, perfectly packed, in great condition. I am very pleased. I have wish list from which I will order more. Thanks Crocus
Half of my order of around 10 plants arrived in a very sorry state. There were many broken stems, some cut stems, dried leaves, white deposits and all-round sad looking plants. Delivery was also left on my doorstep (in its crushed box) though several people were home. Following my complaint they got back in touch quickly saying they would fully refund the order and pick up the plants, still annoyed to have spent a fair amount of time picking these plants out and now sorting their collection.
I have been buying from crocus for some years now, I have read some of the other more negative reviews and can't believe this is the same company! I have never had a problem with crocus customer service, I have had about three bad plants, one broken, one died, one never showed itself as it should have done come spring, in every instance crocus either replaced the plant or refunded the money without any fuss at all. I have purchased every single plant in my garden from crocus and my garden is blooming and growing beautifully. I know if I need advice about any of my plants I can send them an email and I am given all the help I need. I find them to be first rate, not only for the plants but all the other products they sell too. Had another delivery today and everything is fine, am really pleased with my order and I would recommend crocus to friends and family, in fact I already have, lol.
I ordered two clematises. Plants arrived well packaged, in a large box within a box. Plants also secured inside. Plants in beautiful condition, very healthy. Also nice instructions regarding care and pruning. Would definitely use this company again, A very satisfied customer.
My order arrived today in fantastic condition, beautifully packaged and not so much as a leaf out of place, and I am delighted with it! I have already planted out the fern near my pond. Just have to plant acer and grasses. I am so excited and pleased with everything in my order, and shall definitely be using Crocus again as well as thoroughly recommending them to all my friends! This was a substantial order, plants poorly packed, out of pots, broken and damaged and very poor quality of plants - they are not cheap plants. Will i use them again quite simply No there are better nurseries out there.
Having read the other reviews about Crocus, I was a little apprehensive but really liked the look of the website so gave them a try.
Have now received my order which arrived within a few days as promised. The plants are all in excellent condition the best I have ever received from any other plant website and I have used quite a few. I will therefore be using them again to purchase further plants I require.
The packaging was first class and packed in such a way there was no way they could have been damaged in transit.
May have been a little more expensive but well worth it. Give them a try you wont regret it.
Crocus have great quality plants. The selection is vast and I have always received them in good condition (I order in winter/ spring) and appropriately boxed or protected. They now specify on their website a cheaper courier delivery service. The courier partner gives no indication of delivery day, timeline and will quite happily leave your plants outside your door on a busy street in London for anyone to take, without a signature. This is a large negative for me, to pay alot of money for top notch plants, only to be offered a terrible delivery service. Why not give an option on types of delivery with a handful of couriers.
I bought two expensive plants as gifts for two seperate people, both of which were cared for in line with the guidelines provided, both of which have died. Crocus customer service had no interest in the complaint, and I have close my account with them. I suggest you buy locally where you can view what you are buying before buying, and not trust firms like this.
ordered a beautiful bright orange echinacea plant to brighten autumn borders - plant arrived with one withered/drooping flower, no chance of reviving flower - crocus told me to cut off stem and it would flower next year ! they offered me 25% rebate or that I could return plant for full rebate, postage costs to me - an insulting offer on their substandard plant.
Crocus started off as an excellent service - but lately their attitude has slipped along with their plant quality.
be very wary buying tall plants perennials from crocus arrived all smashed up bent and broken flowers because they had been packaged in box not tall enough for them ... awful very poor have bought in past and been pleased but was very shocked and third broken and another third the growth should have been tall and they arrived with not even an inch growth been chasing them since the 25 june for a refund . disgraceful
Ordered a high cost premium priced bouquet for my wifes birthday.Email arrived straight away saying that "we are on the case." On the day nothing arrived.Telephone line was singularly unhelpful and just wanted you to ring so that they did not have to be bothered.I sent an email and received an unsympathetic email reply saying we are sorry but it was the fault of our supplier we will refund your money. The whole experience was thoroughly unsatisfactory and anyone ordering for a special occassion where delivery on a certain day is important should steer well clear of Crocus
This companies customer service is non existent. You will not be able to get through to anybody via the Customer Service telephone number no. matter how many times you try. You will be forwarded to the order line who will try to be as helpful as they can be. Unfortunately for them the people/person that they then pass on your message to will not be able to comprehend what is being asked of them and you may be caused to call several times more only to feel that you are communicating with a toddler or a wall. I have used Crocus several times in the past but not for a couple of years. The state of this once superb company truly is a shame. Very frustrating experience and still unresolved and all for something as simple as a refund on an unwanted, yet undelivered item.
