We approached Currencies Direct with more than a little apprehension ! We had always used our Bank to do currency exchanges. Wish we hadn't, we could have saved ourselves thousands of pounds. We certainly won't be using them again! Our first experience with Currecies Direct has been a fast, efficient, money saving experience!
Never used a service like this before,quite daunting when you are handing over your life savings for your dream property in France. They did exactly what they said they would and super quick too.
I found currencies direct very professional. They were very helpful and timely.
Really easy to transact and the exchange rate to transfer money was better than the bank was offering.
My only criticism would be that when my first transaction was proving to be a little complicated, all the staff went out for a coffee leaving the least experienced member of staff on her own. She had to ring one of them to come back and help. The final result was a good one though!
The transaction made on my behalf was carried out efficiently and quickly, however changing my email address has not been as efficient. Although it was registered at first the new email address doesn't appear to have been communicated to all departments.
From struggling to get some money to my daughter in France I was fully advised and then the process was fully secure and gave me full confidence at all stages. Email s confirmed progress so i now recommend the service
My first call from Currencies Direct was from Michelle in response to my enquiry email.
Michelle response time to all subsequent emails was prompt and informative. When transferring a large amount from your Bank to another it is nerve racking and not a little scary. I contacted Michelle to say I had done it and would she let me know as soon as the money arrived. (It was to be a same day transfer). Sure enough she did. I certainly felt I had a friend at Currencies Direct, she was so pleasant and friendly and indeed she emailed to say it had been a pleasure to be of service to me. How nice was that? I can't thank her enough for all she did.
Daniel in the Contract Department was equally pleasant and efficient when keeping me appraised of the exchange rate and facilitating the exchange from sterling to euros.
I would have complete confidence in recommending Currencies Direct to anyone.
From the first phone call to the final transaction, it went like a dream. I expected the money that was being transferred would sit in Currencies Direct account for a few days, but it didn't. I would recommend them to my friends.

The procedure is simple and straightforward. Much quicker and far, far better value than my bank offers. I have set up a regular transfer which runs without a hitch or further input from me. With my bank I previously had to fill out a lengthy and complicated request each month to transfer my pension from the UK to my home in France (and pay a substantial fee and receive a poor exchange rate each month).
I also use CD to transfer other larger sums from an inheritance on an ad hoc basis.
The help and advice I receive is excellent and it is SAVING ME MONEY!
The customer service we received was excellent, everything explained clearly and simply. The transactions are easy and stress free, wish we had used this method before.

After registering previously I have just completed my first transaction with Currency Direct and the process from start to finish was excellent, they helped me buy at the rate I wanted and the transaction was very quick and totally efficient.
I will deal with them again and I would recommend them to anyone especially someone dealing with a currency broker for the first time.
web site slightly confusing for a first timer but got there in the end. we were able to change money into euros when we wanted and then send on to brokers/surveyor and boat yard over time . the iban lookup saves lots of time putting in bank details.
The service was helpful, quick and efficient. I have made one transfer and it was 4% cheaper than the nearest rival company and much cheaper than my bank.
As I needed to change my currency supplier,I decided to use Currency direct in Mojacar Iam so glad I did.From start to finish,the representative in Mojacar branch was lovely .She was so helpful,and within ten minutes was out of the office,finished.
Now I have had two transfers and they are right on the ball. within three working days my funds were transferred to my Spanish bank account.

There were no surprises and everything went very well according to the information given to me patiently by Andrew !
I transferred £6000 to my student daughter in Germany. It was £189 cheaper than the same transaction through Santander! Currencies Direct handled it swiftly and there are no charges with transfers over £5000. Unlike high street banks they specialize in exchange trading and can make their margins on the exchange rates. They charged no fee and the Euro exchange rate was better than any high street bank and some brokers (I did my research!). I was given a personal account manager to speak to on the telephone. I put the sterling in their Barclays account and the Euros were in her German bank account the next working day. I could not believe it!
I was warned, but beware handling charges at the receiving bank (they deducted 15 Euros), but this would have happened with a Santander transaction too!
It was not made clear to me how the process worked, what a "Contract Note" is and it's significance, and as a result I thought that the exchange rate quoted was an offer not a binding transaction. Thinking this, I arranged the transaction through my Bank at a better rate, whist the representative of Currencies Direct had booked it as a deal. Naturally there was some upset, and an exchange of emails and conversations, with me protesting that the dealer did not gain my positive agreement that the deal had been agreed and was binding. It was resolved after an internal review of the matter, and any charges as the company felt were due, were dropped and the matter rested there.
