The residents look forward to our daily sparkle sessions, that instigate conversation amongst resident and staff alike as they share memories and wake up the grey matter to recall the answers to things burried in the recesses of the mind. It is an easy activity that can be picked up and used with a group or individually whenever there is a moment. We love It !
The Daily Sparkle is a great conversation starter. It involkes great memories of times past and is particularly enjoyed by our reminiscence residents, they love the songs and quizes
The Idea is fantastic but I gave my feedback to the company for the last Two years but nothing has changed!! I informed them that the carer`s notes are rubbish, not informative and certainly not enough information on them to enable carer`s delivering the sparkle, to expand on the Information to make the session last longer. I have subscribed now for Four years and have found thet the each year is repeated with just date changes.
I have been holding Coffee Mornings every Monday and I can't get over how well they are going since we started daily sparkle, Every subject seems to roll into a full blown conversation that leads all different directions to other matters. Our residents really look forward to it and it also gives me lots of confidence as its given me more knowledge on some subjects and led me researching some subjects deeper to enhance the chats.
We find the Daily Sparkle a useful tool here at Hillside, It has interesting facts, a quiz etc.,and its a great aid to initiate conversation or a reminiscence session. We use it in our activity sessions and I also leave copies in the lounges so residents, visitors, carers etc., can just pick it up and have a look through.
The Weekly Sparkle has provided the home with an excellent activity for our residents. the comprehensive support guide. This assists our activities co -ordinators to provide an interesting activities session, one in which most of our residents are able to participate. The paper is used over several days and also provides a stimulating read for those who choose not to participate into a group activity.
I would recommend the paper to others
We have subscribed to the Daily Sparkle for a few years now. They are well read and enjoyed by residents and care staff every week.
Our residents enjoy their daily sparkle. It brings them together as a group. They particularly enjoy the daily quiz.
The daily sparkle provides a tool to ensure that everyday something different is talked about.
The paper generates some great discussions and debates for the residents that read through it with me. They particularly like the quizzes and sing along. it provides a good scoop of interest from sporting personalities to political, so if able to interest a wide number of our residents.
we use the sparkle as a welcoming tool at the memory café - we place them on the tables and they catch the eye and interest of the guests and stimulate conversations. Its a good, gentle way of breaking the ice and getting people re-acquainted. Sometimes we use the Sparkle as an activity - ask guests to find an article that really interests them or sparks a memory, and then everyone says what they liked or remember.
Excellent reminiscence tool which we enhance by using foods and products mentioned in the weekly paper. This brings the reminiscence sessions to life and adds to the memories envoked by the topics contained within.
The Daily Sparkle is interesting and fun. The residents that I show and read it to find it helps bring back some lovely memories of times gone by. The monthly music CD is also a great way to interact with residents. In all its a great piece of work great value.
many thanks to the Sparkle Team.
We have been subscribing to the Sparkle for a couple of years now, we find it good fun, informative, and a fantastic tool to support our reminiscence sessions. Our Service Users even ask for copies to take home with them to share with family members. The Disc's are a very popular activity and are asked for on a regular basis. We often wonder what we would do without them! Can we take this opportunity to ask when we talk about 'do you remember' certain thing ie cakes would you include the recipes please.
We have been using the Daily Sparkle for quite some time now and what a great resource it has proved to be. The team have not stood still with this product either. The Daily Sparkle is continually evolving & the team are always collating feedback from it's users.
We use the Daily Sparkle with a broad spectrum of residents & the recent addition of a DVD to compliment the audio CD & magazine itself have really gone down a treat.
Thank you for a ll of your hard work.
A must try paper, full of informative material, to encourage stimulating activities with endless scope to develop ideas and projects promoting fun social gatherings or full engaging one to one activities.
The Daily Sparkle is an excellent resource for groupwork - great mix of historical and personal stories, questions to stimulate conversation and quizzes. The team at the Daily Sparkle are helpful, efficient and friendly.
Reflections is a day centre for people with dementia. We use the Daily Sparkle every morning as a basis for discussion and reminisence. Having the Daily Sparkle in advance means that we can expand on the content and find objects etc that link in with the topics.
It saves us hours of time in preparing sessions and that in turn allows us to have more resources available to do other activities. We can tailor the sessions to meet individual needs too which then can make our support truly person centred. Our day guests love the Sparkle as much as the daily newspapers !!!! Many take them home too and their carers read them !!!!
Regular group of residents who look forward to their Chit Chat Club on a Friday afternoon. All are eager to take part and share their knowledge and memories of times past. Sparks many a conversation which inevitably leaves the original topic behind. Well worth it to see people wit smiles on thir faces
The daily sparkle works out really well with elderly people. The headlines are sensational from yester year and they bring back memories. They bring a huge smile to our Residents faces.
LOTS OF PRINTING OFF NEEDED IF INFO WAS TO BE SHARED AMOUNGST CARERS AND RESIDENTS. OLD FILM FOOTAGE NEEDS TO BE A LITLE LESS JUMPY AND A LITTLE LESS NARATION.OTHER THAN THAT MUSIC CD'S AND DVD'S ARE VERY USEFUL.
As a busy Manager of a large nursing home, I find anything that assists me to give meanigful occupation to my Residents a real bonus. The weekly Sparkel enables me to quickly print off several papers which I can distribute to people who appreciate the content. Sparkle is a great conversation starter and encourages small groups to discuss the content and take part in the activities contained.
The feedback from Residents is always positive and many look forwrd to Thursdays when we deliver this paper.
the stories in weekly sparkle a great conversation starters for both residents and staff, because it is personilized for our home makes it more interesting for them thankyou very much
We have had the privilage of using the newspaper when we interact with our residents and they have loved it ! Everyone including families and staff have learnt a lot from the articles which tell us about a trime gone by in a proper news format.. The amount of chat about what some of the residents and staff have in common about the way of life back when has been lovely !
It is something we can keep also as a trainging tool for staff ( particularly for younger staff ) as it informs them of topics and ideas that they can use to stimulate conversation past the issue date of the Sparkle.
Weel done and keep up the good work
We have a weekly News and Views at the home and I feel that we need to bring more than the general weekly news to the residents. It is becoming harder and harder to deliver articles that would be of interest and that are not depressing. I was introduced to the Daily Sparkle at my previous home and was really impressed but they believed we could produce similar at no cost. Just shows what they know.
Well I am in my new job now and have had the 21 day trial which we have been using in our weekly News and Views and it is a real hit with the residents. They really look forward to the reminiscence discussions..It also gets them talking about their experiences. We now give out the weekly sparkle to all the residents and put copies in the Cafe and the relatives/visitors find that it is really great tool to use with their loved ones. I am pleased to say that the home has now signed up for the subscription. The Daily Sparkle Team really deliver a great tool for us Activities Coordinators and deserve a big pat on the back.
A lovely product full of facts and quizes that our residents enjoy. The sing a long is especially popular.
These articles from the past are interesting & educational even for the staff to see how things used to be.
The residents like to hear about things that have happened in the past also, something that they can relate to.
We wish we had used the Sparlke sooner, our Residents, Families and Staff love to read this paper. Families and Staff share a coffee or tea together and discuss the topics, sometimes we do this in groups if Residents wish too.
A very good tool for Reminiscence and bringing people together, and sharing experiences.
we have been receiving the sparkle for some time now and we look forward to each issue being published. our residents and staff have thoroughly enjoyed learning things from the articles and we have many discussions and sing songs with the accompanying cd's. we run a chit chat club each month which is usually based around a topic that a resident has picked up from the sparkle. it is a very valuable tool that anyone can use to evoke some very good memories and many hours of discussion.
