Good product until your warranty ends with bad customer service.

I used to buy Dell systems whenever I needed a new computer, (Got a HP notebook once, horrible mistake) and used to like Dell but now it's time for us to part ways. My girlfriend and I bought near identical XPS notebooks and paid a lot for them (Her about $1,000, while I got a better model and paid about $1800) and within 2 months of her warranty ending the most crucial part of the system, the fan, started to fail! Called up Dell and they wanted $180 just to look at the system and run the same diagnostics that I ran.... Then after they ran that same program I would have to pay for parts to fix her laptop and instead of a fan replacement ($35 online for the part) they only offered to replace the motherboard at a cost of $150.

By not being able to replace just the part I needed and designing a crucial piece of equipment to fail shortly after warranty ended they've lost my business.

Great product, but the worst customer service

I ordered laptop from their site on 9th December 2013, advertised as "Estimated Ship Date: 16/01/2014", my bank stopped the payment for security reasons and after clearing that out with my bank I called Dell to take the payment one more time. that didn't happened for next 3 days, so I called again, (when I tried to explain they hang up 4 times and my question was ignored on chat session!), finally I've been advised by one guy to cancel my order and try to order again through their sales team over the phone. That was quick and without problems, but in January I received an email saying that delivery date has changed and now I will have to wait till beginning of March to get the laptop! What is even more surprising it's been send a week after that email and arrived last Thursday (23/01/2014). I love the laptop, but Dell offers the worst customer service.
P.S. I just checked their website and the same laptop is advertised as "Estimated Ship Date: 17/3/2014".

Gets the job done

Finally decided to replace my Macbook Pro with a Dell desktop. The Mac couldn't handle video editing, and in researching for an upgrade, I discovered that a Dell would cost $1000 less than a comparable Mac. That's a lot of money. Got the Dell with Windows 8. Can't quite figure out the operating system, but the computer itself performs all right. Uninspired design (after having owned a Mac). Gets the job done.

Extremly bad information through sale

It took 20 minutes to order a laptop without any hardware configuration. Just to verify the battery insurance was a hassle.

Well - I can live with a bad website. As a web consultant I can only imagine how that hurts there own sale, but I'm a very experienced web buyer, so I made it through..

The estimated delivery was about 2 weeks. Well, that's a long delivery, but I decided it was worth the wait! After 1 week, the delivery was delayed around 2 weeks further.. 4 weeks delivery is very bad..! But in the email I was informed I should look at my order status online to get the latest status.. Well, the link didn't work and it took 10 minutes to find the order status service on their website. But I found it! Great! But the delivery date was now set to the original date. I was thrilled, maybe my order came through as one of the few they could deliver on time!

The day of delivery passed by and I called Dell to check for the expected delivery date. The support lady was surprised the status website didn't work, but could tell me the order would be delivered after a total of 4 weeks as adviced in the mail - any updates and she would inform me.

Later the same day, a new mail was received from their robot to our accounting responsible. But not to me personally despite talking to an employee earlier same day that promissed any updates directly to me. The delivery date has changed again.. now extended 3-4 weeks further!! This total around 2 months delivery, with a lot of headaches, bad information level and frustrations over looking at a 2 month delivery, when the original 2 weeks was already too long because of an urgent problem with an old laptop (the "r" key doesn't work - and writing code it's not optimal to use clipboard to paste "r" when needed)..

I have to stay put for around 1 month now.. this is not optimal in any way. Worst buying experience I ever had - and I haven't even got the "full experience" yet.. and that is despite buying 90% of everything I use (from everyday food to cloth, gadgets, gifts etc).

Alienware all the way

I have been using different alienware machines for a while now and nothing beats these mean machines by Dell. Work with graphics designs a lot and I have found these are best for on-the-go productivity options on offer. Keep up the good work guys and definitely recommend. Its all about performance with me!!

Get what you pay for

I needed a new laptop for college and to be honest i didnt have a huge amount of money to spend.

I bought a dell laptop online for around £150-£180 ,however it is very slow,came with very outdated windows(took an hour to update) and didnt have a cd drive, The laptop was not advertised as having one,but i had assumed that it would be a given really..When used for typing, it freezes a lot and causes me to loose work and it also becomes very overheated in a shot space of time

WORST CRAP I HAVE EVER HAD.

DELL computers must be the reason for all wars in the world. After one year the battery is dead, touchpad not working, slow and continually right clicking. I have spent 5 hours trying to disable the touchpad with no result. IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS DIFFICULT! i will now throw this piece of crap in the dumpster and then i will never again buy a DELL. I hate every one who works there and i hope they all burn in hell.. Thats a bit rough but it gets my point through.

Slow laptop straight from the box!

I purchased one of their entry level (cheaper) laptops recently and set it up from the box. It is painfully slow and often freezes up crashes... took it back and exchanged it (in their defence they did this straight away) got the new one out and set up and ..... exactly the same thing happened! I cant believe they can sell brand new laptops that don't actually function.

Dell's computer served me well for 1 year and then I had to take it on a service because of corrupted hard disk. Not very happy.

First class laptops, both duarable and dependable.

I've had and used Dell laptops for many years, and my oldest one, more than 15 years old still works! My newest is a few years old and nothing on the markettoday truly exceeds it in anything except battery life. Not much of a complaint as I can update to improved batteries any time I wish. The Tech service people always seem to have time to answer my issues, and the on line site allows for most questions to be found without significant time or effort. I guess my only issue would be that some of the older systems lose thier support after a few years which can make upgrading OS a bit of a seach, but it hasn't actually been a problem for me.

All round awful service!

I bought a XPS 17 Laptop back in October of 2011. Which at first was delayed by two weeks (total three weeks to deliver). The Laptop worked fro about three months no problem. After this my laptop suffered a HD failure and needed to be replaced.

After a couple of phone calls where I informed them the HD had failed the decided that I was correct and sent out a Tech to replace the faulty HD...

This is where the issues got worse! I must of spent 100+ hours on the phone speaking to techs getting the drivers sorted... week by week more errors and blue screens kept popping up. On asking to return the laptop for replacement or refund the tech support team told me "we don't do that sir it defeats the purpose of us being here"???.. no lie they actually said that? Even when the pc wont work? I had to endure over three months of calls to a support centre in India I believe until thankfully one of the more intelligent employees decided yes maybe there is something wrong with your £1200 laptop!

I returned the laptop and figured that this was a one off so ordered the replacement after a promise of a refund... THEN: The delivery of the new laptop was delayed by 3 weeks..... Then they took almost two weeks to issue a refund!!?? after a promse of four days?? The account manager that took my new order never replies to emails and all this has been going on now for almost four months now...

You would have thought that Dell would see that this is maybe a special case and do there best to help a customer to restore his/her faith in the company..... No chance of that happening!

All round a poor service from beginning to end with sales, customer service, delivery and refunds. I wish I hadn't been so stupid and ordered another pc from them, more fool me!

Edit: And one last thing don't believe the warranty promise to send someone out to collect your computer to take it to a service centre in a few days, I was never offered this service after the hard drive was replaced...

Disappointed and Distressed

Received my refurbished computer already broken. When I went to try to get it repaired, I was put through the runaround for 2 months while technician after technician came to my home and left my computer in worse shape than it started in. Finally, I was able to file a report asking for a refund but the company said it was too late. My next business day on site service warranty did nothing for me, and I am not happy with my computer. Finally I am being sent a replacement...hopefully nothing happens in the future, or I will have to go through all of this again.

Poor

Ordered from them, long delays and when I did the sane thing and compared the pc and components online found out my supposedly awesome dell system was almost £200 more expensive compared to other online specialists.
