Ordered a lens from these on the 19th January 2011. I payed extra for express delivery as it was a replacment for an older lens and needed quickly for work that was approaching. I was told 4+ times that the lens would be dispatched in the 'next day or so' (It was finally dispatched on the 1st Febuary) and I was hung up on twice while waiting to be seen to in their absurdly lengthy hold queue. When I did get through the staff on the other end treated me like an idiot and one got particlularly impatient with me. They were quick to take my money from me, and due to the lack of comms left me at one stage thinking I'd fallen for a scam. I won't be ordering from them again and looking around at other reviews I don't see why they're still trading. This company has cost me dearly with my work, I've totalled £600 in losses due to this group. Totally unnacceptable.
Ordered a camera on Monday 27th Dec, rang up on Wed 29th to check when it would be sent out, told in next couple of days, so I would get around Jan 4th. Jan 4th came and went with no sigh, rang again 5th Jan told it hadnt been shipped but would be sent out that day or at the latest the 6th. Told we would have by the weekend
Still no sign so rang yesterday and spoke to a manager (ha-ha) - told him that unless he could provide proof that the goods had been shipped I wanted to cancel the order. He said it had been shipped on 28th Dec!! When I asked why two other people had said that he hadnt been shipped when I rang on dates after the 28th - he wouldnt explain. He also wouldnt explain how they managed to despatch an order on a bank holiday, just wouldnt accept that it wouldnt be possible. He claimed that their system doesnt "explain" despatch dates, which is a total load of rot. I work for a transport company and well aware of how orders and goods are processed. When I asked for the City-Link tracking number he said he didnt have it. I asked why nobody from their company replies to emails or call back requests and he said very arrogantly that they were busy!! For a company with such appalling customer service the only reason they would be busy is with all the complaints.
I asked him to contact City-Link and get the tracking number and ring me back with it, which of course he hasnt.
Still no sign of my order, I really now just want to cancel the order and get it from someone else, but they will not do it. They say they have sent it, I dont believe them for a second.
Strongly recommend avoiding this company like the plague, I expected so much better, and for the kind of money you are spending it's just not worth handing over your hard earned cash to them. I use web based companies all the time and it's been a very long time since I've had such a horrible experience.
Currently over £600 down without my order and it's over two weeks since I placed an order for an item they claimed was in stock.
Dreadful company, truly dreadful.
I had bought a lens from digital-cameras.com in the past and did actually get what I had ordered eventually, so I thought I would give them another chance.
I went to the website and saw the lens I wanted this time at a good price and noticed that there was only 3 in stock so I thought I would phone them first.
The guy who answered assured me that they had 3 in stock and that if I placed the order they would have the lens out to me in no time. I felt really good about everything so I placed the order as soon as I got off the phone from them.
the next day I received a call from them just wanting to confirm my card details. Once I had done this they said they would send the lens that afternoon. This got me really excited as I very really looking forward to getting the lens and I thought it would have taken a bit longer than just a couple of days.
3 days later I still hadn't received the lens and so I thought I'd just phone them to see what was going on...On the phone they told me (to my shock and horror) that they were out of stock on that lens. I told them that I had spoken to them before I placed the order and how I had been ensured that they had 3 there when I placed the order. I also told them that they told me the next day that they were about to send it out to me....The guy on the phone couldn't do anything, he told me that they were expecting a new shipment in from canon in 2 days and that he would put my order at the top of the list so that when the shipment came in I would get the first lens out of the box.
a week later I phoned again as I still had no lens and no idea what was going on. this time they told me that they were out of stock again, but it was ok because they were expecting another shipment before the weekend. I was starting to get upset. after the weekend I phoned again to see if they had sent my lens yet and they guy said the shipment had not come in. He said that it might come in by that weekend but he wasn't entirely sure. so I phoned on the friday to see what the story was and they said they were negotiating with canon because the new updated lens was coming out so they might not be getting in the lens I had ordered. He told me that he wasn't sure how much longer it would take or if I would have to pay more money if they didn't get the lens I ordered in. I phoned back a few days later and this time I was told that they were expecting the shipment in on friday (sound familiar?), so on friday I phoned to see if the shipment had come in yet and I was told that it hadn't. I was furious at this stage but I always keep my cool over the phone with customer service as I know it's not their fault most of the time and I don't want to delay things any further. I politely asked if I were to cancel the order how long it would take for me to get my money back, and was told that it could take a couple of weeks. I said that it was ok, I would leave things they way they were for now and would phone back in a couple of days to see if the shipment had come in then.
I phoned back a couple of days later and to my pure delight was told that the order had been shipped and I could epect a tracking number in the next few hours. WOOOWZA.
However my excitment was short lived when I realised the next day that I still didn't have a tracking number. So once again I jumped on the phone (for like the 50th time), and was told that the order had been cancelled?!!?
What a waste of time. weeks of wasted time. I eventually got my money back and placed an order through ebay and got my lens in 2 days for less than a 20 more. NEVER AGAIN!
Ordered camcorder from these muppets in September (now December) for a birthday present. Was promised it would arrive in time. Been chasing the order for the last month being told it would be dispatched the next day each time. The camcorder was shown as in stock on the camerabox.co.uk and digital-cameras.com website, this was confirmed by staff. I have now been told the order will not be fullfilled as the item is out of stock, I argued the item was showing stock on the website which it was at the time of the phone call. During the call the website was updated to show no stock!
Jeg bestilte den 13.08.2010 en macro linse til mit fotoudstyr, efter bestillingen fik jeg omgående en ordrebekræftelse, og det fik jeg hver dag i 5 dage. Den 17. og 18.08.2010 blev pengene trukket og så forventede jeg min linse var på vej, men ak nej, jeg har nu mailet til firmaet 4 gange, uden andet svar end en standard skrivelse og stadigvæk ingen linse, jeg har prøvet via msn, men der er ingen der lukker mig ind. Nu er min tålmodighed sluppet op og jeg har bedt min bank om at få tilbageført mine penge da jeg heldigvis har købt med betalingskort. Kære venner, hold jer fra dem, de er åbenbart ikke så fine i kanten.
I ordered a Canon 450d kit with 28-55mm and 55-250mm lens kit, and i got a confirmation by email right away. when the time was 3:33 pm i got a mail from DHL and Digital cameras which both confirmed that they had sent the goods that i had ordered.
the next day at 4pm i had my new camera in my hand, and i was ready to shoot pictures.
the only things that there was missing was my exstra lens that i had ordered. but they had written on my invoice "to follow". when i then contacted customers service they told my that they had just recieved the lens and that they would sent it right away.
by that way it is a great feature that the company digital-cameras is offering a tracking feature, so you can follow the goods as it leaves the stock.
It is great that they working together with DHL, because of their tracking metheods so to speak.

I ordered a camcorder on the Wednesday evening for Friday delivery. When I ordered it clearly showed 1 in stock. Once the order went through the webpage did change to 'Out of Stock'.
However when the order showed no progress at all on the Thursday afternoon I e-mailed the company. Having heard nothing back I decided to use the MSN chat function which resulted in a good 30min wait before anyone replied.
I was quickly told that the camera was 'out of stock' and more stock would arrive on the Friday. When I questioned the 'Live' stock data they claimed that it was possible someone else placed an order at exactally the same time as myself. I do find this very hard to believe.
When I asked about Saturday delivery they said they wouldn't do that as if they did it for me they would have to do it for other customers (well how would other people know?). More confusing is they said I would get the camcorder on the Monday yet also said they couldn't guarantee that the delivery of the camcorders would arrive before City-Link had collected the orders for shipping?.
I wouldn't recommend anyone trusting that the 'LIVE' stock system, which the company claim means it only allows people to buy items which are in stock.
Having wasted a day's leave from work I can't believe the company were not even prepared to offer any free accessory for the camcorder or free delivery in return for my wasted day off.
In fact come 6pm the MSN chat simply cut off and I found that VERY rude.
