I have just had the best service. I feel compelled to write about it. I visited the brand new discount bicycles shop in New Cross. This is a very welcome shop as we have not had a proper bike shop here for about 3 years. There are 2 cool guys who work there who really know their stuff. One gave me plenty of advice about which helmet to buy whilst the other one did an on the spot bike tune up. This kind of 'Old Fashioned' service is very rare.

I recently ordered a Land Rover Folding bicycle. It was delivered fully built on time in excellent condition. I am a fussy customer and phoned up at least half a dozen times for information. This company were always polite and helpful.
This is the 3rd bicycle I have bought from this lot and I would recommend them. Well dont 100% quality service
I ordered a bike for my son with his birthday money and was told that it would be with me in 5 days. Weeks later despite many unanswered emails and being unable to leave any message on their answer machine as it is always full still no bike. Disgusting. Luckily I paid with Paypal so will hopefully get my money back. I just wish I'd found this site before I ordered.

A little while ago in May 2013, I needed to buy something for my bike. After a quick Google search, I found the part I needed on Discount Bicycles. It was the cheapest I could find and it said that it was in Stock on their website. I placed the order and paid using PayPal, the order page I was on said the item would arrive in 3-5 working days. The first thing that I thought was a bit odd, is that I didn't get a confirmation email of my order. This meant I didn't know the order number or when it would be dispatched. At the time, I thought nothing of it.
A week passed and still I had not yet received my order. I pinged off an email to the company asking where it was. A couple of days later I still had not received a response, so I deiced to give them a call. The man I spoke to wasn't very helpful. I asked for my order number, which he gave me begrudgingly. I also asked for my order confirmation to be emailed to me (that never happened) and inquired about when I would receive what I paid for. I think he plucked a number out of thin air and said it would be sent in 1 working day, and that I would have it by the weekended. Needless to say it didn't arrive by the weekend, I gave it a couple more days and rang them back.
I spoke to the same person as before; however, this time he was very rude and didn't want anything to do with me or my order. I asked again where it was, he said it was out of stock with them and their suppliers and would be another SIX weeks before I received it! I questioned him on what he said before and also asked why it said it was in stock on the website. He said something along the lines of "I think you better leave it now, I can't be bothered with this". When I began to express how unimpressed I was with his customer service, he simply slammed the phone down on me.
I sent a further email that same day, saying what had happened and that I wanted a full refund so I could take my business elsewhere. A few days later and this email was not responded to. Again I called up, this time I phoned a different department. I asked for a complete refund of my money. I also asked why my emails had not been responded to. They just said, "oh they must have slipped the system". Thankfully I did receive a refund within 24 hours.
In total, this whole thing took about 3 weeks; from the day I placed the order to getting a refund. This was 3 weeks off the bike! Nobody minds problems, it's how they're dealt with. I was very reasonable with my requests and didn't get angry or shout at them on the phone. I believe I was treated unfairly and not as a customer. They should have informed me straight away when they knew it was out of stock and not let me contact them.
Discount Bicycles DO NOT deserve anyone's business and shouldn't be trading as a bike shop. I am very surprised they haven't closed down already, judging by other peoples reviews of similarly bad experiences. I will never be buying from them again and unless something is drastically done about they're customer service I don't think may other people will reorder from them in the future. My recommendation, order from the bigger and better companies like Wiggle, Evans and Chain Reaction.
I would easily given them -10 stars if I could as I have never seen such group of unprofessional and rude people in just one place.Worse people Ive ever witnessed doing business.After ordering a simple silver quick release skewer over amazon and receiving in black one I've decided to let them know that it was wrong but I was going to keep it anyway but was also going to place a review about the seller.Even so I decided to keep the wrong colour, my email receipt from amazon and the picture inside the server clearly had the picture of a silver skewer.Immediately after that I have received a call on my home phone from someone from the shop shouting and swearing at me about me entering a feedback saying that it was black all along and amazon server was to blame etc....and even put the phone down on my face.After that I had to file a formal complaint to amazon about this people as they started harassment, sending rude emails, writing detrimental comments about myself etc...I could not reply to their comments on amazon as it was a response from my feedback so they got the last word and I had to take a different approach.The guy had the audacity to write things like "This customer is not right in the head". "The customer could not accept that he had made an error" "Please Beware of this sad and insane person and ignore his bogus feedback".I felt very disappointed and really believe I was dealing with mobs rather than business people.I never wanted to return the product neither asked for refund so please be very aware.I know I'm not alone as if you google their business you will see some horrific cases about their gangster style dealing with people, however, I did came across a great review on trust pilot about their shop, but guess what?The person who wrote was the owner of the shop itself.
No delivery of goods ordered so contacted Discount bicycles by emails & by phone, no responce from Company whatsoever. Fortunatley I payed with PayPal so I will be opening dispute in the next few days. I also Google searched for their business & was warned that their site my harm my computer.

& shall most certainly remain the last. Prices not very competitive whilst claiming the title of DISCOUNT, but their customer services certainly live up to a discount company name.Sorry to leave poor reviews I would rather be a ray of sunshine, however discount bicycles will leave you a wheel or 2 short of a ride.
I had to ring the company 6 times(to date) each time I have been promised a call back and each time I have had to return the call myself the next day only to be told incorrect information. I asked for next day delivery for my Item I HAVE BEEN WAITING NEARLY 3 WEEKS FOR and they said no it wasn't worth it so I told them I would write a bad review because of the appauling customer sevice I had received and he told me that was black mail! Normal when I have ordered from a company and an item has been delayed they are more than happy to help rectify the situation and ensure you would use the comany agian by offering either a discount or next day delivery. This comany kept banging on about costs and how my £15.99 item was not worth it? having worked in customer service and purchasing I understand you do not want to make a loss but an unhappy customer will lose you a lot of business!
I am currently STILL waiting for my basket.
If this item was available any where else I would cancel my order and never deal with that rude company ever again!

3 weeks and no delivery
Chased and only then do they tell me they have no stock
Responded on Email to request a refund (TWICE) and no response
Called "Customer Service" and CLOSED at just after 4pm!!
Spoke to someone in the shop and requested a refund to be told that will take four days
After saying that was unacceptable they Hung up the phone!
CONGRATULATIONS on the worst customer service EVER (even beating British Telecom!) and on motivating me to write my first ever review of a consumer experience to help save any others even considering using this SHAM of an outfit.

The service was super fast and arrived before expected time. Very happy with that. Unfortunately the inner tube was not put in properly so the first time I pumped it up i had a puncture. We fixed that, then tried again, only to have a 2nd puncture. We only got around this by putting in a differe tyre.
Trail gator arrived after emailing them to see what was happening with my order. They are not very slick, don't acknowledge order or track delivery, all the reassurances you get used to if you shop online.
Trail Gator arrived but when we fitted it, major parts to secure it were missing. 5 days before we were due to go on holiday! EMailed customer services on Sunday night and due to timescale, rang on Monday morning to attempt to highlight our predicament and we needed the parts despatching. No response, emailed again on Wednesday, they rang me 4pm on Wed. I have had to pay a further £15 for despatch of the missing items. They guy I spoke to was polite but I had no choice but to pay for the delivery or not be able to cycle with my daughter on holiday. I dont even know whether it will turn up before we have to set off so very, very disappointed. Good price but not worth the hassle.
Avoid this company, they are hopeless to do business with on line. I ordered a folding bike from them, listed as in stock, no word of despatch for a week, emailed a query, got an automated reply , no follow up, I phoned, got a voicemail promise to call back ,hung about but no call, both emails and phone calls repeated for several days. After ten days of no communication I cancelled the order by email, got the first phone response four hours later to say they might despatch after it came in 'next week' ? Explained why I was hacked off but did not seem to register. They said I must have called or emailed the wrong dept. (Sales?) and blamed the bank holiday.
Unless you can go in to the shop you will be very frustrated.
I had my bicycle serviced at Discount Bicycles last week. They did a fantastic job and the turn around was really quick. They gave me free bike hire whilst my bike was in the shop.
When I came into the shop to collect the bicycle I was impressed at the advice they gave me on future aftercare. I would recommend Discount Bicycles to anyone based on the quality of service, professionalism and speed of service.
I ordered my bike on Sunday 1st April and as per the website expected delivery to be an average of 4 working days. When the bike did not arrive I had to email them to find out what was going on when I feel that I should have been informed on the status of my order. At this stage I fully understood that the Easter Holidays may have delayed the orders and in response to my email I received an email that the company was averaging 5-7 working days.
However, after waiting a few more days and hearing nothing I once again emailed and called to find out what the delivery status was. I received an email from [name] to let me know that the bike is due to be delivered on Friday 20th April. I therefore made arrangements to work from home so that I could sign for the delivery. After sending an email on the Thursday asking for confirmation of the Friday delivery and not getting a response I called on Friday morning when I attempted to have a conversation with [name]. I was upset and very disappointed that my bike had not been delivered and that despite the 4 average working day delivery policy I had waited 13 working days taking into account the Easter Holidays.
On the phone I was treated with a total lack of respect, my complaint and disappointment was casually dismissed by being hung up up on several times. This was totally unprofessional and shows an unbelievable lack of phone etiquette and ability to deal with customers who are spending money and therefore expect a certain standard of service. When I sent an email to complain about the disgusting behaviour on the phone I was told that I would not get an apology and that he was right to hang up on a customer.
Finally in addition to all of the above when I spoke with City Link (the delivery company) they told me that there had been a problem with pick up. It would have been helpful to know what was happening with the product I have been charged for!
Overall, my experience has been awful. I am truly upset by the way I have been treated.
I would NEVER recommend this socalled company, they are rude and generally unpleasant people who should not be running a company – here’s hoping my bike eventually arrives!! Oh, and given the choice I would not give this company any stars.
We bought the 'She MX Pink Cycle Cover £9.99 Now £6.99 inc. Delivery'. It is meant for temporary use, whatever that means. We bought it to cover a child's bike so we were very careful with it, but before even getting it onto the bike it split down the seams! I call that 'not fit for purpose', not for temporary use!
'Customer service' told us we can pay them £10 for a more heavy duty one - we do not want it - they should refund us and they won't. They have now stopped replying to our emails. Very rude not to mention illegal.. If something is not fit for purpose we should be able to return it for a refund. I am so angry at the way they have dealt with this - thank goodness we didn't spend more than £6.99 with them.
I ordered a pannier rack which arrived very quickly and well packaged. Unfortunately, I had missunderstood the description, and it wasn't suitable for my bike. I contacted the company who were very understanding, and allowed me to return the rack for a full refund, which was paid very quickly.
I have no hesitation in recommending Discountbicycles, and will try to use them again in the future.
I bought Winter tyres online.
They were the cheapest and only place which had them in stock.
Only fly in the ointment was delivery - I was informed I had to be in all day on the next working day to receive them (after I had made my purchase) or they would be re-delivered at a substantial cost as they would be classed as freight.
I took the day off and they were delivered.
Phoned for advice on a child seat, and they took the time to explain the benefits of the model I was looking at and answer my many questions. They added the windscreen accessory to their website while I waited so I could order that too (they had not carried it before, and I had found it on the manufacturers website). Delivery was very quick, and the price good too. I would definitely recommend discount bicycles.
I ordered a new bike - I was contacted with a delivery date and it arrived on time. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and totally satisfied with the service I received from discount bicycles. I would certainly use them again and would recommend them to my friends.
I ordered a trail gator tow bar and buying it new from Discount bicycles was cheaper than buying one second hand. Regular emails kept me informed and prompt free delivery on this heavy item. Will definitely be using again.
I ordered a trail-gator (removeable bar that you pull your child's bike along with) from discountbicycles, which came in the timescale promised and with regular emails to track it through the ordering system. The lowest price I could find on the High Street was £69, so less than £42 including delivery was excellent value. I'll definitely be checking out this website for my family's cycling needs in future.

I ordered a PowerPlay adjustable stem and received it the following business day. Brilliant
Ordered CB Urban 200 bike on 7th October. After not receiving the bike or contact from them in a week I tried to call. You cant get through to customer services, they have a message service. However, they didnt phone me back or reply to my initial email. After about 10 days I telephoned the sales number and was informed the bike was out of stock. They offered an alternative (if not more expensive) bike but I decided to wait. I didnt get further emails about despatch but the bike turned up on the 27th October. It was poorly packaged and the courier pointed out they had recieved the box in this state. Luckily the bike was A1. Incidently they took my money on the day of ordering. I would not shop with them again.

He even sounded genuinely helpful, a rare thing these days!

Ordered a child's cycling helmet which arrived extremely promptly, well packaged and actually exceeded the specification on the website (it's more adjustable for different head sizes and so will last longer which is great). Would use them again and thoroughly recommend them to others.
