A family run business where they are working hard to deliver a consistent customer experience.

An updated review of my Altino kitchen and first hand experience of buying a first ever kitchen.
DIY Kitchens have an onsite showroom at their factory in Pontefract, go and visit it if you can, its worth the trip and if you're going on your own, grab yourself a free coffee have a look around and then ensure you get yourself known to one of the staff, you can lose your slot if you don't, or better still go together if you can.
My initial experience with customer aftersales was not great, some misinformation given and promised calls not materialising. However, when Matt stepped in (his family own the business), it became clear that he is passionate about their company and customer service matters. Every resolution he promised he's delivered on. It is recognised within the company that aftersales needs to be slicker, maybe giving a bit more responsibility to the team to make decisions is a way forward. Also think some form of deli ticketing might resolve the issue of visiting the showroom and at least it removes any confusion as to who is the next in line to see an adviser.
Have now started to enjoy the kitchen thanks to Matt and his mum, and it's getting some impressive comments from visitors.

Very knowledgeable staff - special mention to Brian in the showroom

Very knowledgeable staff - special mention to Brian in the showroom. Superb knowledge of there own kitchens and competitors kitchens. We were able to take in our quotes from Magnet and Wren and compare prices and quality. Made massive savings without any pressure selling. Excellent service and practical money saving advice on end panels - worked perfectly for us, can be trusted and refreshing change to have a company trying to save us money.

Everything we had hoped for

Like many reviewers on here we had been all around the houses with kitchen sellers and couldn't get happy enough to take the plunge with any of them (this is our first ever full kitchen purchase). I wasn't keen on the risk of purchasing without seeing a kitchen in situ and couldn't get the time to go to Pontefract. We ordered the door samples which were great (large so you can get a good feel for the colour and refundable when you purchase). We then considered ordering just the utility room units so if they were as good as we hoped we could then buy the rest, and if not then we'd just have to rethink. Time went on and, having read all the reviews on TrustPilot and seen the video on the DIY site (impressive machine!) we thought 'let's just go for it'). And we are VERY happy. My builder was first to put his nose inside the boxes - he was very keen to see how DIY would pan out. His verdict: 'Never buy a kitchen from Howdens again' - and he is very quality picky. About his only pick point was that the cavity at the back of the cabinets (for pipes etc) seemed a little deeper than normal, but we're talking a few insignificant mills from what I gather (he only commented as he needed to slightly adjust a deep magic corner he fitted (not a big deal). The units came ready constructed so saves install time. Our order was short 3 doors which DIY noted on the delivery sheet had been damaged during production and would be replaced via a separate delivery as soon as they made new ones - brill - I'd much rather they pick it up than I open something that is blemished, so confidence was high that they properly quality control what leaves their warehouse.

No bad aftersales to report (which I did note during my research of these reviews). We are very, very pleased. Thanks DIY.

Kitchen looks good guys

After months of toing and froing between stores and websites, I stumbled across DIY Kitchens online and thought I would have a go at creating my own kitchen from the units that were available on the site.

It took me a little white to get my head around sizes and everything but after a few phone calls and a few days of planning, I finally got there and managed to fill my kitchen with some pretty cool units! I especially like the corner unit that pops a little tray out so that I have easy access to the contents of the cupboard.

Overall I'm really impressed with the end result and the fact that my kitchen fitter did not have to assemble anything as it was delivered pre-built. I also spent the money that I saved from ordering the units online, on a weekend break for me and my wife whilst the kitchen was being fitted and the downstairs of the house was full of dust.

Now to start renovating the rest of the house, I hope it's as easy!

I love my new kitchen me...

We shopped around a lot (much to my husbands dismay) before settling on diy kitchens. I have absolutely no regrets, I am happy with the quality, look, price, service and delivery. Russ from I-design kitchens did our plans, we chose the painted Milton in farrow and ball old white and teamed it with an amazing granite. My husband and his brothers are all joiners (carpenters for you southern folks) and they were all impressed with the standard of fittings(hinges etc). Conversely all of my mates think it looks pretty. I could harp on forever but to sum things up I doubt you will be able to get a good of a quality of a kitchen for a better price anywhere else.

Great service and quality resulting in our dream kitchen

We stumbled across DIY kitchens when looking for pale grey kitchen styles online and we are so glad we did. The choice available has meant we have a kitchen which is just what we wanted with no compromise.
The sample door packs were delivered quickly and the quality of these packs meant we were able to trust that the quality of the kitchen would be good. The ordering process was simple and we received a follow up call from the sales team to check a few things with us to ensure what we had ordered suited the layout of the room. The delivery of the kitchen was efficient. The communication with the sales team was excellent. One of our drawer units arrived with a drawer front missing and when I called them to query this they were able to respond promptly to me with the reason for this; ‘the drawer front has been damaged in the assembly of the unit and another one was on its way’ and within a few days it had arrived. The build of the units are sturdy and with them being pre assembled there was no unnecessary mess and easy to install. The quality of the fittings (like the legs on the units and the runners on the drawers) were superb. The personal touch of Yorkshire tea and biscuits included in the fittings box was the icing on the cake.
Thank you DIY Kitchens.

Our dream kitchen!

After 18months of planning our kitchen, we now have a fabulous, light airy kitchen which the elegant, timeless design of Cornell Classic provides.

Installation was really simple with my husband and our friend fitting it within a few days with a little bit of help from me! Everything fitted together just as we had planned.

The quality of each unit is exceptional; each carcase is very sturdy and the addition of the 'soft close' to the drawers and cupboards is great. We required several special orders and these were made without any problems. The extra details, such as end panels and frame profile around the open shelf unit, really add to that finishing touch!

We were advised to source our worktops locally since we wanted black quartz with the mirror chip; the cupboards and worktop compliment each other really well and along with crystal handles, complete the ‘sparkly’ look.

We discovered DIY Kitchens on the internet, and managed to visit on one of their open days. It was a really nice way of seeing lots of different kitchens on display and a great opportunity to be able to talk to other people interested in the same thing. We are so pleased with the product and DIY Kitchens, that we have recommended them to our friends who are hoping to update their kitchen too. All of the staff were excellent and went above and beyond to be of help. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back to DIY Kitchens in the future.

Top quality designer kitchen at a fraction of the price

After researching several companies both online and showroom, we opted for DIY kitchens, their Cornell Bespoke Painted Range in Farrow and Ball cream.
All the order arrived on time without any damaged pieces and clearly marked. While I was nervously fitting this kitchen myself, the quality of the doors and cabinets made it much easier to cut and drill than I expected and we were delighted with the end result. All our friends and family who have visited cannot believe our kitchen was ordered online and for such a low price. Highly recommended.

Great quality kitchen at very affordable price

We are delighted with the quality of our new kitchen, the doors are very simple but look classy and far more expensive than they were, and feel very solid. All the drawers, pull-outs and cupboards open and close really well, and thanks to the huge range of unit sizes we were able to create a kitchen that perfectly meets our needs. We are particularly delighted with the quality of the Arena classic fitting in the corner units, they are very robust, taking heavy pans with no problem at all, and making using the otherwise awkward space very easy indeed. The duropal worktop complements the units perfectly, and feels to be of very good quality.

Our fitter was very happy with the quality of the kitchen, and commented that the legs you provide are the best he has ever come across, and he has worked on very high end kitchens in castles and the like! He found that it went together very easily, and did not come across any problems at all.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to other people, and we know that our kitchen fitter has already recommended you to another of his clients. I had several queries about choosing units and needed one unit adjusted to work for our plan, and the people I spoke to were wonderfully helpful and patient.

Quality kitchen, professional throughout.

Good quality & cost I cut out the middle man and saved loads putting the time in myself. You were recommended by a friend and we were both impressed with every aspect of your website. My only mistake was the dishwasher I wish I had gone for the fully intergated option but this was my fault not yours.

Quality kitchen cabinets and doors with great service

I researched a lot of different manufacturers and suppliers when looking for our new kitchen, but without a doubt, DIY Kitchens offered the highest quality and best support for our budget. The quality of the Remo Alabaster doors, drawer fronts, panels and plinths etc. is very high, and the cabinet construction is first rate.

The kitchen was very easy to fit, with clear instructions but with the reassurance of the DIY Kitchens technical support guys only being a phone call away. Delivery was top notch; went for the two man team and everything was very carefully brought in from the van and stacked ready for installation.

We had a couple of cabinets dry-assembled so that we could modify them; the mid-height oven units are full height ones cut down to maintain the drawer-line all around the room!

Overall, from our first visit to the website, to our "hands on" with the doors and cabinet and collection of a sample from the showroom in Yorkshire, through delivery and fit, to final finishing touches, DIY Kitchens provided a superb service and I have and would thoroughly recommend them.

Brilliant quality kitchen, not so hot on customer service.

Well, first I would like to state loud and clear that we are thrilled with the finished kitchen. We had units in three colours and the solid feel of the kitchen and finish on the doors is exceptional. I did a lot of homework before ordering and looked at just about every brand in our budget and DIY kitchens were by far the best. Our level of satisfaction for quality is outstanding, despite the gripes below about customer service!
However, with a company name like 'DIY Kitchens' I think you expect customer service for direct customers who are genuinely ordering their own kitchen. I found the after sales experience did not measure up to the sales experience and was not really geared to people buying their own kitchens. For example, I rang for advice about how much worktop to order, followed it, and we were significantly short. Despite a long time between ordering and delivery date I was only contacted a few days before delivery to be told some items were no longer available (sink attachments). This did not leave me with enough time to replan. I had forgotten a couple of bits e.g. I had forgotten one end panel and post. The delivery time was 6 weeks (long after our fitter had left) (but in fairness it was a painted finish item) and I was initially charged the full £75 for delivery of small additional items. DIY kitchens insisted this delivery charge was necessary due to the nature of the items. This was only refunded after the delivery arrived ... by a cheap courier service! I found the tone of the automated Emails sent out were not very customer friendly. After multiple Emails insisting delivery dates could not be changed in favour of customers, our kitchen was actually sent out a week later than agreed (I was ok with this, as we had built in extra time just in case), but, as I said this flexibility was one-way and when we needed extra bits we had to wait the full time. Our fitter complained that none of the fitting components e.g. wall brackets are supplied.
I would consider buying locally if I did this again so that after sales was more straightforward - it is very frustrating for fitters to be stuck if you can't get extra bits quickly. We had our bathroom and a downstairs utility done at the same time. My after sales experience with plumbing and tiling companies was very good.

I would highly recommend you to friends and family. You're aftercare service is 100%

My kitchen is beautiful. I received a quote from a reputable local company which was THOUSANDS more than DIY. Found the EXACT kitchen, was sceptical about ordering on line. However I shouldn't have been. Had a problem with the handles a few months later. Contacted DIY, all were replaced , the new handles I chose were more costly - they waived the additional cost.

Classy end result to our kitchen project

Found the DIY website by pure chance, having gone the alternative high street and DIY store route I found the web site and the DIY Kitchens approach suited my way of planning and buying. Did my own plans and found the DIY staff really good and with their help achieved the great end result.

Once we had established our shopping cart we visited the showroom. A great success and the DIY representative checked it all and suggested made very useful design changes and alternative ideas. All in all, DIY was a very positive experience, the
price was good and the quality could not be faulted. Our kitchen has become something of a local showroom.

Designer quality kitchen at a fraction of high street prices

After visiting numerous kitchen showrooms and obtaining quotes for a layout I had in mind, the cost of the high street kitchens and the large DIY stores kitchens was far too much for the budget we had allowed. Our Niece recommended DIY Kitchens as her partner had installed one in their kitchen. I therefore set out a basic design and checked it out with DIY Kitchens sales staff at their showroom in Pontefract, to see if there were any errors. The sale staff were excellent and amended my order detail slightly. I placed the order with the package which included delivery of the whole units with doors fitted. This service I would recommend. The kitchen units were easily fitted into place. I then used the services of a glass worktop company to supply and install the worktop. The results are outstanding (take a look at the Remo white reviews on their web site, mine is the one with LED lighting behind the glass worktop)
I saved around 65% of the high street prices by going to DIY Kitchens and would certainly recommend them.
