Great value, quality and service!

Have been very very impressed with DIY Kitchens. Okay, so you need to know what to order (including end panels, plinth, cornice, handles), but ordering is pretty straightforward and it is well worth making the effort as the prices are amazing.

Things I have really liked about DIY Kitchens:-

- Massive range of unit sizes / styles, allowing you to create a truly bespoke looking kitchen
- Good quality units. Was a little nervous about how good the quality would be, but even our carpenters who fitted the kitchen were impressed!
- Ready built units. Saved loads of time at installation
- Colours. We went for a painted kitchen, and could pick ANY Farrow & Ball colour
- Unit 'options'. You can ask for units to be dry assembled, and have screw in feet, allowing you to adapt units easily. We have used base unit on a base unit to create mid height oven housings, and done the same to create some extra high storage areas.
- Massive selection of 'finishing touches' - pop up power points, intergrated bins, magic corner units etc etc
- Tea & biscuits with the order - carpenters were very happy.
- Sorting out post delivery problems. We had a couple of doors missing. These took about 10 days to come, but we were kept informed and they were very helpful!

If I could change anything about their service (and I'm getting petty now)

- Would be great to get sample painted boards for the bespoke painted kitchens (we chose colours from test patches painted in the wall)
- Delivery notes that are easier to check off against the order (need to ensure everything is okay within 48 hours).

Other things to consider if you order from DIY kitchens:-

- Don't underestimate the space you will need when the cabinets arrive!
- Be sure of what you need before you order!
- Get yourself a good fitter (who can often advise on what you will need in terms of panels / cornices before you order)
- Measure carefully and check how units fit (i.e. does it fit flush against the wall?) You can phone DIY Kitchens for this information.

Fantastic kitchen

We ordered the Astor oak kitchen, which looks beautiful. Extremely well made and very easy to install. The staff we spoke to were always friendly and very helpful.

The quality is excellent a pleasure to deal with

The quality of the kitchen was excellent with precise measurements on the cabinets which my builder appreciated. Delivery was on time. The quality of the door hardware is excellent. A pleasure to deal with.

Using the website to order was easy

Designing the kitchen and choosing the items required proved to be a relatively easy process using your website. There is a wide range of styles, finishes, sizes and appliances available on the website and it was very convenient to be able to specify, choose and order all of the items and components required in one place. Having chosen all the items, the ordering process was also very easy and any queries were quickly dealt with by telephone. All the items I ordered were delivered efficiently on the day agreed. Before deciding to use you I did get a number of quotes from other kitchen companies but they were all more expensive and I wanted to design my own kitchen and use my own fitter.

Amazing quality and build

This was the first time I had ordered such a large item from the web, so I was a little apprehensive, but this was short lived as when we received the kitchen we were amazed at the excellent quality and build of the units. We did receive quotes from Wickes, Homebase and Howdens (Recommended by our builder) but in the end we decided on DIY Kitchens as the quote was virtually half that of the rest.

Very competitive good quality

The unit quality is very good and the overall service was good, although I did have to return an item which was not credited back as it was damaged in transit back to DIY Kitchens by the courier. This was a little annoying after the amount I spent but overall it was a good experience. I received several quotes and DIY Kitchens we very competitive in this respect.

Excellent service & friendly staff

Excellent service during the whole process. Very friendly and pro active staff with all aspects from the visits to the showroom on two occasions to answering design questions and quick service when a couple of items needed to be replaced that had got marked in the delivery.

Fantastic quality kitchen, worth the extra effort of measuring and designing yourself

DIY Kitchens were recommended by a friend, and on visiting the company's website I instantly realised I could make a healthy saving on the budget I had set aside for a new kitchen. The website is excellent and intuitive, although I feel it would benefit from a simple 2D design tool that let's you create a plan for your kitchen. I viewed the video tips for measuring for my new kitchen, it's certainly worth double and treble-checking your measurements, particularly when specifying decorative end panels and creating a space for an extractor hood.

I chose the Milton in-frame painted range which allowed me to specify a kitchen in exactly the colour I wanted, rather than being limited to the "off the shelf" colours. As a word of advice, I would make sure you carefully consider your choice of handles when choosing a shaker style kitchen, it's worth ordering a couple of samples before committing.

The staff have been generally very friendly and helpful, although I did find it frustrating that everything routed through one email address and sometimes getting hold of a specific person proved difficult.

Overall, I would recommend DIY Kitchens to anyone that wants the flexibility and satisfaction of designing their own kitchen. I certainly think it's been worth the extra effort.

The quality was unreal for the price. I work near the site so could see the showroom. You were very busy at the time of delivery so the order was a little messed up but you guys sorted it all out quickly and efficiently as possible. All in all a fab and quality service.

Worth a visit to the DIY showroom

I am exceptionally happy with the finished result as contained withing the photographs and the service provided by DIY Kitchens. All of the kitchen units were supplied fully assembled and well packaged within about three weeks from me placing the order.

From a pricing perspective, DIY Kitchens proved to be the cheapest supplier as I dide obtain quotations from other local suppliers for the same product list.

Before committing to invest a not insignificant amount in the new kitchen units, I did take the opportunity to visit the DIY showroom in Pontefract while travelling home from an assignment in Leeds. The showroom enabled me to confirm that the quality of the product met with my expectations and I also managed to obtain some inner carcass samples.

We thought the quality and service was outstanding

We thought the quality and service we received from DIY Kitchens was outstanding for a number of reasons: - The web site was easy to use and offered many features that were well thought out - for example, after selecting a carcass, the automatic prompt to select the correct number and size of doors/drawers fronts. The order summary was also clear and provided all the information we needed to check that we had ordered everything. - The technical support provided by your staff was courteous and just as important well informed and accurate. - Delivery happened exactly when it was supposed to. - A ceramic sink unit that was found to be damaged on delivery was replaced quickly and without question. - The carcasses and doors were well packaged and were delivered in good condition.

Overall pretty reasonable

The quality is certainly very good, and at the right price. Service was also pretty reasonable, with some problems here and there. These were sorted out with a few phone calls.

Sales team were very helpful

The level and quality of service was excellent through out from pre-ordering to project completion. Sales team were very helpful and were able to assist in all manors from giving input on layout options and possible issues that might arise from drawings that I had supplied to sourcing alternative worktops that weren't listed on your site. We had received other quotes from a range of suppliers and found your kitchens to be the best option by far. We were also very impressed by the sample packs that were sent before placing the order.

Absolutely delighted with our kitchen

We had a kitchen fitted last week and are absolutely delighted with the results. Having cancelled a previous order with a kitchen company due to poor online reviews we decided to order the units and fittings direct from diy-kitchens and were able to achieve this with the help and support of your sales staff. The quality and finish of the units and appliances ordered were excellent, we received them on time and the delivery driver was courteous and helpful. We are very pleased with the high standard of workmanship and wouldn't hesitate to recommend both your products and the tradesmen who fitted them for us.

I am a joiner by trade so have put in a number of different makes of kitchen and I found DIY kitchens units to be of a high standard and especially liked the flip down feet!

I would never fit anything other than blum so was pleased to see they were supplied with the kitchen.

First class service & value for money

We have to say in all honesty the service we received from DIY kitchens was first class, from our initial visit through to delivery (apart from the delivery vehicle being to big to negotiate our farm lane) we were very happy with your service. The overall quality of our kitchen was excellent for the price charged, i have fit many kitchens from several suppliers and for the price this is the best value for money i have seen, by far. As stated i have fit numerous kitchens whilst working in the building trade,and did search several companies for our new kitchen and costed up every one, DIY kitchens came out on top every time.once my wife and i had visited your showroom, been looked after, shown round had every question answered and even offered a tour of the factory to see how the units are made we knew we wouldn't be going anywhere else. It was a stroke of luck really, we came across your website whilst browsing the internet!! Finally we are attaching a few photo's however if you are interested i have lots of pics taken before and during installation as well as the finished kitchen, i'll be more than happy to send some if you want.

No wow factor in terms of customer experience.

I felt the experience was OK, but hardly inspired me to recommend DIY Kitchens to my friends. I got the feeling (rightly or wrongly) that they preferred dealing with large companies rather than individual purchases. The product quality is good although the product finish on some of the surfaces could have been better and our attempts to get this corrected thru' customer services was challenging. This is definitely an area where the company could improve.

Good website, good pre-sales advice, overall good value for money.

This is an edited post. Since posting my original review with 3 stars I had contact from the company and they resolved the relatively minor problems I'd had with a damaged door. (Its a shame that the resolution only seem to come after my original post here). To help people avoid the problems I had I would ensure that you check your order on delivery for completeness and for 'ANY' damage within the 48 Hours stated in the T&C's. It would be helpful if the delivery staff ensure that this message is clearly understood by the person taking delivery to avoid later issues.

Overall the quality vs cost of this kitchen is pretty good. The website is great, intuitive and the pre-sales advice is very good.

A very good alternative to IKEA!! (particularly as it comes ready-made).

Very good service from placing the order through to delivery.

Unlike many reviewers we did not rush into sending this one in, you need to test everything first before you can really say whether it is good. Well a couple of years is a good trial period and we have never had to contact DIY kitchens at all, so that must mean something. They were very good when we placed the order answering all our questions was not a problem to them. The quality of the units is very good, and the fact they are not flat packed makes life so less stressful. We would highly recommend DIY kitchens to anyone, in fact we did and our friends purchased their new kitchen from them as well! It was nice to receive a little gift of tea & biscuits with our kitchen. Thank you to all at DIY Kitchens

Professional Products and Info.

From planning to installing I had a very good experience using DIY - kitchens. like most things in live you get what you pay for. We chose Oak doors with oak style carcasses. Great quality no twisting or warping. "Specials" were no problem within the limitations of standard door sizes. Nice hardware & we took advantage of a no extra charge offer for self closing hinges & draws Neff built in fridge was competativley priced considering delivery charges from third party suppliers. Do not be put off by the DIY tag these products are available under other "Names" within the industry. including "Studios" There was a hiccup but it was sorted efficiently. I would not hesitate to use again.

Good bad and ugly

Below is the email sent to DIY kitchens. In summary the product is very good and Pre sales is very good. Very attentive to our requirements. But as soon as we placed the order, they were no longer interested. Refusing to take phone calls insisting we communicate via email.
We sent them feedback to try and improve their service, but they weren't interested, not even bothering to respond.
Here is an extract of the email:

I tried to call today to discuss some issues with my order, but unlike when you wanted to take my order, nobody wanted to talk to me. Instead the only way I can communicate is via email.

The issues I have, I have listed as follows:

Good
Good experience with the sales process.
The people in the showroom offered excellent service spending time going through pros and cons of each kitchen.
Very pleased with the quality of the drawer inners, larder cupboards and the general quality is good.
Matthew spent a lot of time with us making sure each element gave us what we needed.
The finished kitchen look very impressive
Bad
The vertical adjustment on the wall units does not work from inside the unit when it is on the wall, they had to be removed and adjusted from the rear of the cupboard which detracts from the point of having the multi function hanging system.
2 different fixing instructions were supplied with the bin unit and the whole unit was more like a mechano unit. Very difficult to get together and no soft closing mechanism.
Bin unit does not close properly.
Auto close mechanism on magic cupboard not functioning, this has since been replaced.
Cupboard door over oven despite several adjustments of the arm, it either stays open or you have to fully close it with your hand, does not auto close.

Excellent quality kitchens at a fraction of the price

We checked out all the usual high street kitchen suppliers when we knew when our builders would be ready to start. We spent a long time planning & checking our measurements before actually ordering the units from DIY-kitchens. Due to a slight mistake with the extension, the measurements did change after placing the order meaning that we needed to alter a couple of things. The staff were really accommodating, courteous and, to be honest, went out of their way to help. We are delighted with the quality & finish of the kitchen. There are only a couple of things I'd have to consider if we were doing it again - the first that, due to the kitchen fit not starting when we'd agreed, we didn't find out until too late that quite a few of the pieces weren't going to work as planned (one of downsides of being inexperienced & planning yourself!). Even though these are still in the plastic and unused, the company won't accept them back. This does mean that I'm left with bits I can't use & rather than exchanging them, I've had to fork out more simply to buy more. Also - DIY take note! The (admittedly very cheap) spice rack we bought is useless! It looks great but the jars fall out the minute we shut the cupboard door. Looking for a replacement very soon. All in all, a lovely kitchen & great company - just try & be 100% of your order!

Excellent quality kitchen Doors and cabinet

We ordered replacement doors for our kitchen for a cheaper makeover. They didnt have all the door sizes of our older cabinets but we were able to order simliar ones and have the fitters cut in half for the corner unit. We were impressed with the quality and now have a new kitchen for a fraction of the price we were getting quoted for a complete replacement new one. Delivery was on time and we were informed when it would arrive. We had no issue with any of the doors for our first order but the second order the had 2 damaged corners. After discussion with the sales department it was agreed that these would be swapped. A word of caution though you should check your order and notify them of any damages within 24 hours. Thats the terms and conditions.We are very pleased with the company, quality and delivery times. Would happily recomend to friends and family.

I've used many online shops before, and diy-kitchens.com is by far the best. A rare gem amongst a plethora of poorly thought out and untrustworthy companies out there. From the fantastic customer service to their excellent delivery service and competitive prices they are top class.

Worst internet purchase experience ever!

I often shop on the internet but never experienced the problems I'm currently having with this company. I cancelled my order after having delivery problems, but three weeks later despite repeatedly chasing there is still no sign of a refund. They want to deduct 5% for 're-stocking' which I am reliably informed is against the Sale of Goods Act, particularly as I have never even received the items! It seems that until I agree to this charge they are holding on to my full payment. I'm getting nowhere with diy-kitchens, so will have to escalate the issue. I would avoid this company.

I am slightly confused with the review that has been written, you have been fully refunded for the 2 x bins, the door plus the delivery on the 1st of August. No re-stocking charge or re-delivery charge. Yet I do agree that we were slow in proccesing the refund as the goods were received back five days before. This is a area we will look to improve in immediateley.
Our suppliers, from who the products were directly despatched have charged us a re-delivery charge as you were not available to accept the goods on 2 seperate occasions to the delivery address requested on the order.
Yes initially we were going to pass on one of the extra delivery charges as you then cancelled the order without giving us chance to deliver to a alternative address. After discussions with yourself we decided to waiver this charge of approx £10.
I do not understand how the goods were ever going to be accepted at the delivery address provided as you have know stated that you are hardly ever at the address due to work commitments. As the order value was over £200 the carrier would not have been able to leave the products without a signature from yourself stating the products were ok.
I have e-mailed and tried to call to discuss the matter as we take all negative feedback very seriously but as of yet i havent had any reply

Pre-sales is very good and the quality of the kitchen units is exceptional

We are very pleased with the quality of the kitchen, solid oak doors, and the pre-sales service was exceptionally good. They even sent us a half-size sample cabinet so we could assess the quality for ourselves. They checked the order carefully and corrected a small mistake we'd made with additional material required to make some bespoke shelving. Delivery was good and exactly on time.
However, post sale they have been a bit difficult to get hold of, and have taken days to answer e-mails. They also managed to delivered the order for extra shelving while we were away on holiday, having already been informed we'd be away, and failed to supply the shelves missing from a wall unit.
A bit of a shame as the quality of the kitchen is really good.
I think we suffered rather from the 2 week shut down over Christmas and it would have been less frustrating if they'd told us about this beforehand. When I was promised somebody would phone me back I expected it to be a little quicker than 2 weeks later.
The Christmas perios also impacted on the problem we had with the CDA fridge/freezer and we were left without a working one over Christmas and New Year which was very inconvenient. Beware, CDA sub-contract remedial work and the sub-contractors don't keep stocks of even the simplest parts such as thermostats. Eventually CDA replaced the fridge/freezer and DIY-Kitchens sent somebody to us in Dorset to fit it, which was very helpful of them
We used a professional kitchen fitter and he said it was one of the best built kitchens he'd come across, and at an exceptional price. So, if you're prepared for the odd hiccup, grab yourself a great kitchen at a super price.

Good kitchens and delivery - but beware - ensure you are certain of your order before placing

Ordered range of Broadoak painted units together with appliances and taps. Company seemed efficient - they even phoned to double check that I did indeed want two taps as ordered. Delivery as promised and all items correct. However, 2 days after 7 day cooling off period (distance selling etc.) my husband enquired if we could upgrade and return unused hob (at our own expense). Took a week to respond and only after a number of calls and emails - refused to exchange. I appreciate there was no fault and it was just a change of mind after we discovered the excessively high wattage, but surprised at the inflexibility for what was is a high value purchase (in our eyes at least).

Just be certain that you understand the wattage of what you are buying - the hob description did not give this detail on the website!

Outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble.

We had been looking for a kitchen for ages and was fed up with the overpriced and low quality (even the"quality" kitchens ) of the DIY chain stores and decided to try online.
Came across DIY Kitchens after many days looking.
Easy to use web site simple to order as long as you know what you want.
Called company to double check a few things (You actually speak to people who know exactly what they are doing) The customer service experience was excellent.
Clear delivery dates.
What sealed the deal for me was the colour matched carcasses.
(To have these from the DIY chains increased their
price by nearly a third).

Kitchen arrived on day stated Drivers were caught in traffic but let kept me informed of their progress until they arrived.
When I checked the delivery I was amazed at the quality of the order for the money I paid for it.
Kitchen is looking great.

Superb

The kitchen we ordered from DIY kitchens was excellent quality. We were so pleased with it that we then ordered more of the same to do our utility room. Then when our son was renovating the kitchen in his flat, he also used DIY Kitchens.
I would not hesitate to recommend DIY Kitchens, quality and service was excellent and all deliveries were punctual.

What an excellent site to use. Just a pleasure from start to finish. The even nicer fact is the customer service follow up engagement was outstanding, staff who were polite, proffessional and who each one went out of their way to help and assist going over and above what they needed to with follow up emails and callls.

Shame I only have 1 kitchen to fit and wish all online retailers were excellent like DIY. I sound like I work there but I don't just had such a good experience with this company highly recommend! Thanks made my rennovation much less stressful. :))

Dream kitchen the easy way

I was very wary of ordering a kitchen on line having read reviews of other suppliers who advertise in the national press, but decided to go with Diy kitchens after reading their reviews. I was not disappointed, web site was easy to negotiate, sorting out sizes was straightforward. I liked the transparent way price was shown and added up as you went along. After I had chosen my door style I ordered a sample door, it arrived in a couple of days and was exactly as shown on the website. The only hiccup was ordering the coving, the one I chose was in two parts so I hadn't done it correctly. A lady from customer services rang me, she sorted it out over the phone, perfect. I am absolutely thrilled with my kitchen and would recommend Diy kitchens without any hesitation.

Good Value, reliable, freindly, straight forward

I was nervous about ordering from an internet only supplier, so I contacted them and they invited me to visit to make the order and see the range and the factory! I'd designed the kitchen myself and they went through the order in detail and checked it all for me. The website once you get used to it (there is a learning curve) is really good. I have never found anywhere else that carries the range of cabinet types and sizes that this place does. Top stuff.
The order arrived on time, unfortunately one of the doors had been filled poorly and they sent the wrong mechanism for the corner base unit. This is when the fun started. To be fair their customer service is excellent, and they always responded very promptly to my emails, and the door was replaced pronto, but the corner unit had to be remade, and the factory was moving sites so I had to wait two weeks. At least they were honest about it and gave accurate information about when I could expect the replacement. The kitchen fitters weren't happy of course, (being the corner unit it was a key piece) . However the replacement turned up ahead of schedule, so they had obviously made the effort to get it done as a priority. (There were a couple of parts missing for the mechanism but they were sent out in a couple of days) I always think the judge of a company is not how well they can do business but how well they cope when things go wrong. Lots of outfits could learn a thing or two from these guys. Even though my experience was a little bumpy I still think they are really good and I would recommend them. The quality of the kitchens is good and therefore it is good value. I am really pleased with the finished kitchen.

happy with end product and service

we visited the production site as nervious about buying unseen such an expensive item. the quality was apparent and we were greated and shown around all staff were helpful and the product was built using quality material ( the ply at the back was flimsey.. the fact we could hav interiors color matched to the exteriorwas a good selling point. we wanted a wooden kitchen and a painted product the colour choice was massive, in the end we went for a plain wood as we could not decide with solid wooden work tops and we could'nt have been happier

I found this company after reading some other reviews on the internet, and I have to say I am very pleased.

The ordering process was straight forward, when I had questions I phoned up and got good advice. I chose the avant ivory cupboard doors and they look fantastic. Our kitchen fitters wanted to know where we got the units from as they are such good quality.

I've been able to order other bits and pieces that I needed quickly as well. Overall a fantastic company.

Superb value for a great quality kitchen

We purchased the Broadoak kitchen range and from start to finish the process with Diy Kitchens went smoothly. The advisors knew the products and were able to provide knowledgable advice. The kitchen units were delivered on time and were well packaged. Even the carpenter who fitted the kitchen was impressed by the quality of the units, the door hinges and unit legs. Ordering such an expensive item over the internet can be frightening but I can confidently recommend Diy-Kitchens for their service and quality of the product provided.

great quality, great value and very helpful.

we bought a kitchen and some appliances for a great price and diy kitchens offered some good advice and flexibility to my order. the guys who delivered were 1st rate and we have been really impressed with the quality of the units. the fitter we used said that it was one of the best and easiest he had ever worked with.

if we were ever to buy another kitchen i would have no doubts about buying from diy kitchens again.
