Laughable - not even one star

I was given a precise time for delivery so I arrived home 15 minutes before then. I waited and waited - no knock on the door - telephone call - nothing. I went outside and there on the floor was a "unable to deliver note". I do have a letterbox but perhaps it was too noisy to use and it might have alerted me!

I was six feet from the door. I have a dog. Neither of us heard a thing.I looked for a van - nothing. The Scarlet Bleeding Pimpernel.

I re-arranged the time. The next day I sat in the same place and lo and behold this driver rang the bell. It's really loud. The dog barked until I answered the door.

What on earth the first driver was doing I can only imagine as I never saw him/her. Are they trained by the SAS or Santa or both? Do they throw their delivery notes on the floor and run away? Is that hour timeslot really an hour?

Anyone who uses DPD must be prepared for some frank feedback on their choice of courier.

delivery slots that are not kept to

I received an email telling me my parcel would be delivered between 10:34 - 11:34 the tracking information shows "Your parcel is on the vehicle for delivery, due between 10:34 - 11:34" when I phone up I am told between 0730 and 2000 It is now 14:57
and nothing has been delivered . Why am I being supplied with false information? and why cannot I contact them. What should be a good system of hourly delivery is incredibly frustrating when it fails I will complain to Amazon for using this service

On time - Predictive delivery times

Quite simply a great company...

The fact they give a 'predictive' time slot is very handy.. and they have not let me down yet.

Well done, so far.

Crap

Got a text on friday18/5 saying my parcel will be delivered between 9am and 6pm, waited in all day and surprise surprise, nothing. Went to DPD site and checked my tracking number and it says 'redelivey request made for 21/5', now to have made a redelivery request, there should have been anattempt to 'deliver' it in the first place, the DPD van even delivered across the road from me, but oh no, too much trouble to walk 20 extra feet to give my parcel to me, pathetic. I'm now going to ask every company that i order from if they use DPD or YODEL, and if they do, then i shall seek my products elsewhere, garbage.

Terrible Service

When the company I ordered my goods from said they were using DPD my heart sank. THe last time I was expecting a delivery from them, we waited days. They failed to turn up on 3 scheduled deliveries. Gave all sorts of excuses including the usual vehicle breakdown before finally insisting that they had delivered the goods when they had not. They produced a signature from a person we did not know. It took days to sort out, lots of phone calls to the supplier. I swear the supplier thought we were trying to pull a fast one. They continued to insist the goods had been delivered and left in our garage. Only problem is we dont have a garage. Eventually I got a call from a neighbour who lives about 3 miles away. He had been away and found the goods in his garage when he got back. I then had to drive over and collect them my own goods. In the meantime DPD are pretty much accusing us of theft. We got a letter fom them no apology for not delivering the parcel and causing us so much trouble. Just threatening us with the police because they had a signed proof of delivery and a GPS tracking image with a detailed position of his vehicle at the time of delivery. What a pity they didnt use that to find out where they had left the parcel in the first place. . It took so much out of me I couldnt be bothered to follow it up. The most frustrating thing is that they make sure you cant ever get to speak to a real person.
Their Head of Security & Claims agent who seem to be responsible for sending out this letter should seriously consider taking some advice on customer service and PR. As for the stamp on the letter claiming Top 50 Call Centre Customer service. Since when were you ever able to speak to a person at DPD...... Never in my experience

Truly awful service

I received my email with my hourly slot (13.45-14.45).. I left my FRONT DOOR OPEN all day, in case the driver decided he wasn't going to knock.. and sure enough, I've just received an email saying 'we tried to deliver your parcel'.. I did not get anything through the door, no calling card or anything.. just an email. Tried to contacts DPD on several numbers and seems as though its impossible to speak to a real human. I do NOT want to rearrange a different delivery date as I specifically paid for NEXT DAY DELIVERY, and left my FRONT FOOR OPEN so as not to miss or 'not hear' the delivery driver.

What is going on? Not good enough at all.
Joe.

Where is my package???

I bought an item via amazon on 5 May.The company gave me an estimated delivery time 12-16 May.Ok,because of bank holiday,no problem.Unfortunatelly tried to deliver on 10 May,when nobody was home and I was working from morning till night.Got a calling card,"sorry we missed you" and "if this is the first delivery attempt we'll automatically attempt a second delivery on the next working day".I was waiting whole Friday and Saturday my package.Nothing has arrived.I started to look for it.Finally I found on DPD website."the package is refused by the reciepent and going back to the company. How the hell can I refuse my package if I am not home?Found a number after 2 hour looking on google,DPD customer service. The gentleman told me "order it again, and we'll deliver it!I've sent 2 letters to the company and still no answer.Today is 18 May.I was really patient, but now I am really pissed off. What is this?I paid the package and the delivery cost as well.and got a service like this.I was courier and I know how is it working. This is absolutely unacceptable. So PLEASE do something!!!

Utterly Abysmal

My heart sinks when I hear that an Amazon parcel has been handed to DPD for delivery.

I made the mistake of not specifically requesting Amazon NOT to use DPD (which I usually do, I advise other users to do the same) when I made an order yesterday and am now stuck with an inappropriate time slot which I can't change and no way to alter these details - DPD make absolutely sure that there is no way you can talk to a real person about any problems their company creates.

awful awful awful steer clear if you have a choice

4 attempts - driver lying saying we are not in, then cant get throught the gate (er we and lots of other couriers do, you just lift a latch and push) then latest is couldnt find the house. the phone number you are supplied with mr driver is so you can call it. and hey heres a thought why not phone your other colleagues who did find the property and couldnt work out how to open a gate? spoke to a very helpful lady called Heather yesterday who also seemed appalled at the sloppy performance of her DPD colleagues and she typed up a big long instruction telling the driver all the facts of how to get here and giving my number. then he cant find it ! its actually quite hilarious how utterly terrible it is! why didnt he just phone !!!! im going to email 'Bobby' whoever they are so a) i dont get a standard response like others below and b) see if anyone can work out how on earth DPD will ever get the delivery here coz ive run out of ideas.

What's the fuss?

After my experience I decided to sign up on here just to add some positive reviews, otherwise it would be unfair on DPD with all the negatives. After all, we complain when things don't go right but we never praise anyone when they do get it right.

Got a text message to say what day it would be delivered, then on the day of delivery I got another text saying what time it would arrive (I was given a one hour window).

Sure enough, parcel was delivered in the one hour window without hassle, and delivery from the moment of ordering only took 2 days.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review Alex - really appreciate it :)
Glad you're a fan of the service!
Our low rating is a bit of a worry, so it's always great when we get people such as yourself reporting the positives too.
We understand that it's frustrating when things go wrong, and we always seek to resolve such problems, but I can assure all readers of this page that the negative reviews are only a tiny proportion compared to the millions of happy customers we have.
Kind regards,
Bobby.

Worse than fail would be 0

Never Never have I had such poor service from an Amazon deliverer.

Got an item supposed to be delivered to my mothers. She has stayed in all day for me. Get an email telling me they attempted delivery at 2pm. Phoned my mum to ask if a card had been left.

Surprise surprise no, got her to check the post box again - still NO.

Now I cannot even re-arrange to pick it up because I don't have the card and cannot ask for re-delivery cause my mum clearly wont stay in for them to attempt delivery to the wrong place again and to top it all off I cannot even call.

I will be making a call to Amazon however and cancelling my Prime if this happens again.

Update: Delivered to the wrong address. Passed my mums house found the next road along and tried delivery to a house with the same number on a totally different street.

Seriously with sat nav. What a joke. Now I have to go pick it up. Which means an early start and a 1 hour trek in rush hour.

Not pleased at all. Amazon will be hearing from me and I will request none of my orders get sent by them again or I will shop elsewhere its that simple.

UPDATE 2

No idea I pick it up Saturday morning thought better of going to Liverpool and making it back to manchester for work... I think the thing that needs to be passed back to the powers is its not the missed slots or fact things go wrong, its the faceless organisation we are faced with when it does go wrong.

Also the tone of having to book a slot to pick up an item and if I miss it then the parcel gets sent back. Its just not customer friendly, and just comes down to give us any reason to get this parcel out of our hair and get paid regardless of the trouble and strife it causes to what are ultimately your customers. Royal Mail you just turn up when you can and they find your parcel. I will let you know of my experience on saturday but am not hopeful as its a 50lb parcel and god knows where I can park, and reading posts on here I don't trust it to a repeat delivery.

One question. I had the parcel sent to my mums as she was in but apparently I need a utility bill which clearly I will not have?

Sorry to hear about these problems. Was everything okay with the parcel?

Complete fail

I stayed at the house today working from home as I was expecting an Amazon delivery via DPD UK, which was supposed to arrive between 2:39 and 3:39 pm.

The whole day I was in earshot of the doorbell and my phone - nothing. Then, at 3:41 pm I get an email that they tried to deliver and nobody was in, which is so completely untrue, it's not even funny.

Tried to call the company, but there seems to be no way to speak to a human being. Now I have to re-arrange the delivery, which is a major inconvenience as I stayed in especially. Complete fail.

Delivered to the wrong address

I was supposed to receive a package yesterday between 16 43 and 17 43. Once the delivery slot had passed I tracked the parcel and was told it had been delivered and signed for. The name of the signee is not someone who is in my building. Regardless of this I am at a loss as to how difficult it is to deliver a package to my flat as it has a dedicated front door. I can only assume that for some reason they have delivered the package to the wrong house to someone of the wrong name. I have emailed the social media email address given on this thread but have yet to receive any indication that they have received it. I am writing on here in the hope that it is brought to their attention as I would quite like my parcel and have no other way of discovering where it is.

Believe the majority: DPD is useless

So I ordered something online and paid the extra for a next-day delivery.

My allocated slot was between 14:00 and 15:00. No parcel, no calling card. We've all heard this story with DPD before, so I'll spare you the details.

After trying to contact them via email and phone (without response) I managed to track down the local depot where the parcel was returned to.

It was 18:08 when I called. Guess what? I was greeted my a phone message that welcomed me, then it told be that the office is now closed since it's past 18:30.

Well, if a courrier company can't even get times right, how do we expect them to get a delivery address right?

So now I'm stuck with no calling card reference, and very little hope of arranging a pickup at the depot.

Really poor service. Please don't use them, since it will be like gambling with your consignment.

FORGOT TO ADD: I was home the whole day, and no one bothered to call or knock on my door.

Reply from DPD UK

Hi Gerhard.

Very poor service, but also good!

Bobby
I have to say, I don't envy your job. I have just emailed you at the address posted by you on here.

I have a positive and a negative review because my wife's new phone arrived from O2 on the right day in exactly the time slot DPD texted her with. However, after the first attempt at delivering mine to my wife's work address after she had unfortunately finished work, I paid to have the parcel re-delivered pre 12pm the next day as I knew she would be there. Strangely, the building could not be found! I then called O2 and they arranged with DPD to have the package delivered today before 12 to my home address, where my niece was waiting. Still no phone and again 'address could not be found' - strange when DPD delivered to us less than 2 weeks ago at the same address!.

In this day and age of mobile telephones and satellite navigation, I find all this hard to believe. How did couriers deliver before this new technology?.... oh yes, they used a map and ASKED - do you only employ drivers with no common sense, or are they just bone idle?

I have just moved house, so please do not have my parcel left with a neighbour.... I haven't met them yet - they might be scousers or something (only kidding guys!).

Seriously though Bobby, I hope tyou are taking all this negativity back to your bosses and kicking some ass in the drivers tea room, cos I can see this getting you down and I can assure you work stress, leading to depression, is not nice.... I know.

Hope to hear from you soon

Phil

Two months, no delivery

I ordered a package from the UK, and the company from which I ordered elected to use DPD for its shipments. I jsut tracked down information about my delivery on DPD's site, and my package arrived at the local delivery depot on March 19th. Nearly two months ago! I have not been notified of any attempt to make a delivery, and in fact, DPD's tracking shows no attempt at delivery. I do not understand how a shipping company can operate in this way. Rest assured, I am letting the company I ordered from know about this reprehensible service.

Absolutely useless

Waited in all day for a planned delivery. At 3pm opened my e-mails to find a message saying parcel couldn't be delivered as no-one in. A card was supposedly left. Self and hubby were in all day in earshot of both front and back door and near to one of our four phones. Certainly there was no way any delivery person could have called without us knowing. Tried ringing the Maidstone depot but no reply. Used the premium rate 0845 number to try contacting customer services. Hung on and on so gave up rather than adding more money to their coffers. Rebooked by phone for collection by us for the following day (Saturday) as I wouldn't trust waiting in yet another day. This meant a round trip of 60 miles. Used the 0121 number to get customer services, waited 18 minutes for reply. I was told the driver had recorded he had called and left a card, the person offered to contact driver but surprise surprise he couldn't be contacted. Person suggested we speak with the depot manager the next day. All he could offer was an apology. When we collected the parcel the next day no depot manager on duty but I spoke with the supervisor. He said the driver concerned was new and that had been his first day without a supervising driver. He had recorded the house had a 'brown door' (we have two white doors). I asked why he hadn't phoned, firstly I was told there was no phone number on record then it was seen on the parcel label! All I have received is an apology regardless of the fact I paid the merchant for delivery and then paid for an extra 60 miles worth of petrol to collect the parcel. I know I could have asked for delivery another day but to be honest would you? Plus we needed the parcel (a shredder) pronto to get rid of a massive pile of garden waste which was piled up at the front of the house. I know mistakes can be made but having a look at reviews of DPD this isn't an unusual occurrence. Personally I certainly won't use them to deliver anything of mine and I would hesitate to purchase from anyone who uses them as a courier. You have been warned!

Failed to deliver / Incorrect information

Made an order with Amazon choosing Express Delivery - ie. next day (a Saturday) before 13:00. Received a text on Saturday at 7am, confirming delivery would be today.

It wasn't delivered by 1pm, but I stayed in assuming it would be late, but would still come as promised in the text message. However it hasn't turned up at all.

It's very frustrating as I've wasted the whole day waiting for the order to come on a dry weekend when I could be out. DPD need to ensure that when they promise to deliver that day, then they stay on until the job is done.

If I could assign a 0 rating I would! Shocking company!

I have tried for the last two days to contact a human being at DPD, only to be thwarted at every turn. I finally googled to see if there were any other complaints about your organisation, and in two seconds, had streams of other customers' complaints. In the responses, someone called Bobby suggested that the customers email socialmedia@dpd.co.uk with a parcel number and phone number in order to receive some assistance, so this is what I'm doing now.

I placed an order for next day delivery on Wednesday the 9th of May. I then received an email saying that my order would be delivered on the 11th (Friday). Not quite the next day, but okay, I can live with that. Then I received an email saying that my delivery would arrive between 17:32 and 18:32 on the 10th (Thursday!)!! Now I'm confused... will my delivery arrive on Thursday or Friday? First email to DPD. I got home from work at 17:15, and waited patiently, but there was no delivery. Fair enough I thought - the first email had said it would arrive on the 11th, so possibly the second email was a mistake. No, it wasn't a mistake - later on the 10th, I received another email saying that someone had tried to deliver my package, but I wasn't home!! Second email to DPD - I WAS HOME! I don't have a calling card, no one came to my door, and I don't have my delivery. On the 11th I received another email saying that my delivery would arrive between 19:00 and 20:00. Now, because I've had contradictory emails already, I figured I'd get home for 17:30, just in case the previous email was accurate. That's what I did, and I sat patiently waiting... no delivery. To make sure that I wasn't making a mistake, I checked your website - apparently someone was at my door at 19:09, and I wasn't in... I WAS HOME!!!! Again, I have NO calling card, no missed delivery, and NO PACKAGE!!!! Next step, let's try and phone someone to find out what's going on. There is no number on your website that will allow me to talk to a human being! Not one number!!!! I even phoned the sales line, thinking that you would surely have people manning that, given that it's your source of income - the message at 9:27 this morning (Saturday) was "the office is now closed. Our office hours are ... ... 08:00 to 13:00 on Saturday" AT 9:27!!!!! So now, as a customer, I can't speak to a human being, and your sales team is refusing calls? I don't know how you are still in business, but I will make a point of mentioning to anyone that I can to avoid DPD. You don't deserve to be in business if you can't behave like a business.

Morons

I know that I am going to get a reply from ' Bobby' saying that he/she is sorry and to contact him/her via socialmedia@dpd blah blah blah, but I am going to have a rant anyway.
Ordered an exhaust for my motorbike on Tuesday and was contacted by them today (friday) to say that DPD were unable to deliver as no one was at the address. I knew this to be utter Bollox, as can be read from other bad reviews lying seems to be an automated response.
The reason they couldn't deliver is they sent the parcel to an island in the chuffing north sea, Orkney to be precise, which is really handy because I live hundreds of miles away on the west coast of Scotland.
So Booby sorry Bobby, before you reply why don't you nip down to the warehouse and try a little quiz.
First question...Does anyone here know where Scotland is ?
After several seconds of silence one moron might just raise
his/her/paw.
Now for the crunch question, I know it's pretty pointless but what the heck, let's throw caustion to the wind.
Second question...Do you know the difference between a seaside town on the west coast of Scotland near Glasgow and an island in the north sea that has links closer to Norway than the UK.
Second thoughts don't mention Norway, that will throw them completely.

No delivery, No notice and NO ! phone Number

I am Very unsatisfied with the results DPD provide
They failed to not even deliver my parcel to my address and failed to even leave a notice saying that they had tried to give it to me.
so there for i cannot track or change the deliver date via the website as im missing the calling card.
Also the website is AWFUL it dose nothing for people in my position
Also there is NO abdicate phone numbers for the Local depots nor the company, and the head office number just dials through and does not work, and when ive managed to get hold of a depot no one picks up either.
This is a MAJOR annoyance

i can safely say i will never be using DPD again and urge all my friends not to aswell.

The 1 hour delivery slots are always kept to and make arranging my life around a delivery much easier. I always receive a text in advance offering the chance to rearrange the delivery for a different day and then the time slot and drivers name - who I can't fault for their cheerful and friendly attitude on the door step.

I would strongly recommend DPD. I hope more delivery companies follow in their footsteps by introducing the 1hr time slot.

Worst courier in the U.K

Was sent a email notifying me that my parcel would be delivered between 8am and 6pm but after wasting a entire day waiting for my parcel I can now only say that DPD is by far the worst courier in the U.K. I can understand if you are late a couple of hours but to tell your client you will deliver a specified day and not even show up. DPD obviously do not strive to be a respected and known BRAND in the U.K

Hi John,
Sorry to hear about this non-delivery. Could you please email socialmedia@dpd.co.uk with the parcel reference number and a phone number and we'll take a look into this.
Kind regards,
Bobby.

do not use this company

You guys have a problem;

Notified delivery would be 16.09 to 17.09
Received text at 16.07 saying noone in – I’m here, have been all afternoon

Now waiting for 20 minutes on your customer service line, after spending 10 minutes trying to find a number.

Really, really, really poor – I will be suggesting to Vodafone they find another delivery service

you get one star because system will not allow me to give zero stars

incompetent or dishonest

I sat in a chair by the window watching my front door for the full assigned delivery hour plus 20 minutes before and right up until the e-mail that said "we tried to deliver but you were out".

I don't know were they went but it wasn't my house. The best case is that they went to the wrong address. The worst case involves some of the more fanciful conspiracy theories (I won't repeat) I have seen on the net involving the additional charges for Saturday delivery.

I am collecting it from the depot as I can't take another days holiday to be in when they don't attempt to deliver it.

Businesses: If you are considering employing DPD as your carrier know that it will negatively impact on your business as no matter how good your service is they will ruin opinions of you.

Customers: If DPD have failed to deliver on a service your vendor has paid for let your vendor know. This is the only pressure that will make them improve.

Hi Tim,
Sorry for any inconvenience that has been caused by non-delivery. I can assure you that we make the utmost effort to ensure that we operate in as transparent fashion as possible and I'm sure this is an honest mistake.
You say that you are collecting from the depot, do you know the address? You can find your local DPD depot from the following webpage - http://www.dpd.co.uk/content/how-can-we-help/how_can_we_help.jsp - Just click the 'Find My Local Depot' button.
If you need any assistance, please don't hesitate to get in touch by emailing socialmedia@dpd.co.uk
Kind regards,
Bobby.

Excellent communication, spot on delivery - thanks

Ordered an item from Planet X and was advised DPD would deliver it.

Had an email to say it would be delivered yesterday and I could check the delivery status online and even get an hours window when it would arrive.
Brilliant - could check the status whilst at work and make arrangements for someone to receive the parcel.
My parcel came at the start of allotted delivery time.

PERFECT SERVICE FROM DPD - THANKS

Even 1 star is too much for DPD!!!!!

I'm extremely annoyed, angry and upset. I was expecting a parcel yesterday 9th, and I'm going abroad tomorrow..

I received a text message saying that my parcel is due to be delivered between 13:47-14:47. I came home from work. Later I received another message saying that it would be delivered between 16:14-17:14. I waited all afternoon, then I went online to check the status of it about 5 pm. It was saying "unable to locate the address, requires direction".. I was almost going to smash my window. Mankind invented telephone. You were texting me for delivery times, why can't you call me or give me a missed call to call you back?? How on earth a driver can't locate my address if he is in this business. I'm almost in the town centre on a high street, with a big vinyl door number on the front..

Before start writing a review for DPD, I have read some of them here.. I saw Bobby is asking everybody to send an email to "socialmedia@dpd.co.uk". I thought I shouldn't be unfair to give a bad review immediately, so I sent an email to DPD yesterday about 5:30 pm. I haven't received anything so far, phones are not easy to get anybody they take you from one place to another.. And worst thing is, I'm going abroad, I have a flight tomorrow early in the morning... What's gonna happen now.... Arghhhh!!!!!
