I received an email from Victoria with some helpful suggestions.
I replied thanking her, but was unsure if I had replied to an advanced script. After I sent the thank you email, I got at auto reply acknowledgement and then felt really silly. However today I got an email from Victoria wishing me luck.
So this is for you Victoria, 5 stars. A real person! :D
Easyroommate.com seemed effective when I firstly begun using it, it gives the impression that lots of new properties are being listed every day (as I received new e-mails with matches- and as the date in which the room were available is stated at the top of each page). HOWEVER:
-After closer inspection, I realised that the date in which MOST of the listings were published were months prior, sometimes years, deeming them inactive and no longer available.
-Many people with rooms "available" fail to update their profile (see problem above), whom consequently never reply to your e-mails.
-Most daily e-mail matches were exactly the same matches, over many days, and did not fit my specification.
-The website had a few functionality problems which at times made it annoying to use.
I hope you find this website more useful then we did. Occasionally you get a few listings that may be interesting, but otherwise not worth the money.
actually we find our accomondation in a privat way, but I recieved a daily email with new information about the flat/house situation. This would be very helpful to find the right person/flat/house......
Hi i have been using this company for about 7 years and initially found them to be very useful in finding tenants
however after numerous website adjustments and their absolute refusal to give honest move dates i am now completely fed up with their inability to be honest and open.
you will notice that nearly all the adverts from tenants looking for rooms show their desired move in date as TODAY'S date............this is ludicrous and completely untrue and completely useless for landlords to work with............clearly a move in date is essential information so you can target your responses to those who are looking to move around the time your room becomes vacant,
I have asked on many occasions for them to take accurate move dates from advertising tenants even suggesting to them they do not allow the tenant registration process to continue until a tenant has given a genuine and realistic date- but they say they cannot be responsible for this simple and important action. they say many tenants do not tell them their move date...........well EASYROOMMATE - INSIST that they do or DO NOT REGISTER them !- ok ? SIMPLES !
they also keep tenants adverts on the site for months after they have already found rooms (in order for their site to look more busy with searching tenants- which is better for their advertising revenue streams and landlords signing up think it is a really busy site) and so you keep mailing them in case they are still looking- it just wastes our time- infuriating ! having no real idea if the person you are mailing is still looking for a room or not- drives me mad personally !!
they should adjust the site so tenants looking have to positively click a button saying something like ''continued interest in my search'' on a weekly basis so the site is kept upto date and useful- they can surely monitor if people are not using the site and also send out an email to say ''you have not used the site for x days/weeks if you want your profile to stay active please log in and confirm you are still looking or your search account will be suspended''- but oh no something like this is too hard for them :(
They have no intention of changing their site so that they and we landlords know who is still looking and who has found somewhere or given up the search.
I cannot tell you how much time i have wasted on this infuriating site over the years targeting potential tenants who are unavailable to move on the dates my rooms are becoming available or only to hear they found a room months ago.
I have mailed them countless times asking for these 2 fundamentally important factors to be included and amended on their website and all i get are pathetic responses that they will look into it with their website team
Landlords Say: NOT GOOD ENOUGH EASYROOMMATE- CHANGE YOUR SITE OR LOSE US TO YOUR COMPETITION FOREVER !
Easyroommate is basically compatible. Their rates are higher I think,& their service is dodgy ., the same as other Co's on the Net today. You get less than what you asked for 50% of the time. Not knowing their Co., I think they are trying to do a good job with what info they ask for & the questions they ask should be more, & with an option to be more explicit if the 'client' so requests it. Perhaps it might be a good idea to have
a round table discussion with those on the receiving end of their computers to see if they can come up with a few good ideas to improve their image.
An additional aspect on their website would be to have an 'extra' in their 'blab' to extract client info for what they should do to improve their image (better than Gumtree), or widen their scope. more like Twitter & Facebook
I have found two rooms to stay in in the uk and Australia using this service and now I'm hoping to find a roommate using it
I listed an ad for an available room filling out all my search criteria. When I clicked on My Results to see any matches, virtually every match totally disregarded my search criteria. Verified everything was set correctly and got the same results. Contacted customer support and they assured me that everything was working correctly. "Said" they had signed on to my account and verified it. Nope. Checked again and still being matched without regard for my search criteria. Contacted them again and they finally admitted there was an issue. 9 days in to my 10 day membership and it still doesn't work. Cancelled my account and will use other websites.
It's quick and easy to get your ad up and running. Bit more tricky if you've only got an iPhone as you can't load pics or tweak your ad. But just found out you can email Frank with photos and they will put them on for you. Good site
I have been using this website for a number of years, for multiple properties. I use it as a Landlord and as a Flatmate.
Generally I upgrade to Premium for the best success.
I have had great tenants and flatmates on many occasions over the past few years
Hi, I am disappointed in the protocols and service at Easyroommate.com.au.
I paid for membership and I posted an advert on Sunday lunchtime, but the photos were not displayed until about 7pm Tuesday.
1.) At nearly 6pm on Sunday I received an email saying that the photos are over 1 mb in total, and consequently not approved. This was incorrect as the total size of the photos was only 599kb.
2) However, I changed one of the photos, and submitted all the photos again (now they were a total of 565kb). Now the photos were not displayed on the advert as I had to wait for a human approval.
3) At nearly 6pm on Monday I received an email saying that photos were rejected as the total size was still above 1 mb. I double checked, but this information was completely incorrect as the total was only 565 kb.
I wrote an email to the website administrator, but received an automatic reply to the effect that it can take up to 48hrs for a response.
4) At nearly 7pm on Tuesday I received an email saying that the photos were accepted, However, when I looked at my advert the first photo was not displayed, and another photo was displayed twice.
5) I don't want to even think about correcting their error in the photos, as my advert will have no photos displayed until they are approved by a human, and probably their computer will probably reject them (as it seems to think that 565kb is over 1mb)....
I'm very unhappy.....
Another competing website does not have these issues, it publishes all photos straight away and then lets their web visitors report any inappropriate photos.
Why can't easyroommate.com.au have the same protocol?
I did find a roommate from this site (I had posted on a couple of others too) and I am happy with the outcome. This site doesn't seem as cleanly/efficiently run as Roommates.com and it seems to also cater to landowners who are posting (mostly) available share situations. I didn't like having to weed through the landowner postings, because they didn't seem right, somehow. One even posted pics that looked exactly like a hotel room. I reported this to the sight, and it was removed immediately. Don't know if 'Victoria' is in the UK or what, but it took about 24 hours each time for 'her' to respond to me in NYC. If you are in a big hurry to find housing (I wasn't) be prepared, and maybe also post on other sites. In the end it was worth the $30 bucks I spent. As always, don't say yes to anything before looking, or sending a friend to look on your behalf.
After months of listing my place to share there's only been a few nibbles. Apart from the international people with little English, only one person made arrangements to check the house and then didn't bother showing.
Nothing is free, no matter what the advertising says, If Easyroommate is as good as the operators would have you believe, then the happy customers are the ones who pay to be listed. That's both sides, the person with the accommodation and the person looking for accommodation. Some people have been listed on this site for months too, so it's the old story, you get what you pay for.
I was give many room options for rent unfortunately did not apply to any of them because I was still unsure whether to move from my current address or not. I found the service overall a 10 out of 10 couldn't find any faults in your service delivery. Well done !
I have used Easy Roomate on a number of occasions as i often spend several months in different locations for my work.
I have not always found something but when i have it has a good experience.
Most recently through Easy Roomate i found excellent accommodationwith nice people in Edinburgh.
The administrators at Easy Roomate are pro active and helpful.
thanks for the great service
Woke up this morning and posted my room to rent in a flat. I had some interest in it after a few hours and I chose to pay for the premium service at that point. Got a viewing by tea time and sealed the deal within 12 hours. Brilliant! :-)
As a landlord I need to post adverts for rooms, quickly and without any problems, I paid for premium service but cannot post an ad, the website doesnt work, then when I asked for help, there was none, a refund not possible, I only paid 45 minutes ago.
Will be taking it up with PayPal and will get a refund under the sale of goods act, distance selling regulations there is a 7 day cooling off period, I was unable to use the service.
I think this is the best example of a website that doesn't pretend to be perfect but that can be very efficient and helpful.
I was looking for a room in a nice flatshare. I posted my ad and got many contacts straight away. It was quite simple and quick.
I would definitely recommend Easyroomate.
This service doesn't allow any free period or any contact with interested parties before asking for large suns if money. Other sites including those that are specialised in my needs Mon-Fri are considerably cheaper.
Whilst the setting up was easy and the unlimited photos are good but I found the way the site limits communications between users really challenging.
There are other sites that offer the same services, with free and paid options, where the free functions are much easier to use, enable you to have conversations with users and ultimately find a room or flatmate quicker etc.
I'd be much more likely to recommend one of these options.
I have been using easyroommate for several years as a user and provider. The service is easy to use ,efficient and supportive and saved me a lot of hassle and money . We found within a very short time nice people to live in our house and now that I have deactivated my ad I am going to miss Frank’s regular updates and e-mails that I am addicted to . ‘Frank ‘ is a real friend to have on your side ! See you soon Frank
I paid for the overpriced premium service but nothing came of it, maybe it's just my area, maybe no one is looking for places here, but my housemate was also looking for someone to take my room, he did it all for free and managed to have 4 viewings whereas I only had 1... why would I pay for this again when I could get 4x the results for free?
I messaged every single user that I thought could possible be interested, even those who were looking for something different, or were too far away, just in case they might consider it, but I got nothing. Utter waste of money and completely overpriced.
This website is very clear and convinient to use ! The offers are well presented and it is very easy to find what you are looking for ! It took me only 24 hours to find a place to live in Lincoln
I have been using easyroommate for 5 years. The service and functionality has improved over this period and I have always found compatible, friendly house mates from across the globe though using the service.
Recommend the service to anyone!
I found there was very little information on roomates in flatshares and very little scope for them to add the information including whether the property is accommodated by professionals or students which is important for council tax purposes. As I am not from the UK I found these details inadequate considering I would not be able to view constantly
It was quick and easy to register with no need for a fee unless you wanted to make direct contact. Very informative regarding the type of accommodation cost and suitability. I would use it again and recommend it.
It's true..you have got thee best service in this kind of running life, where everything is in Sorry,Quick and a lot without heart.
i lot used your important service, but never paid also wrong what I did..I must pay to you.
Now I got mistake to sign out your side
I love this site and it usually finds me lodgers for my principle home. Unfortunately it did not work as well for my 2-bed house let.
I would not hesitate in recommending this site to friends and others.
Thanks for your support, Clare.
I am so pleased to manage to contact many interesting and interested people thanks to Easyroommate each time I need to come in Kent.
Your website is great, easy to use and that is very good.
Keep it up !
Wishing you all the best.
Actually, I was thinking I could not find anybody with this website in the first time but after Frank send every matched people to my ad which helped me to find tenants through their website.. I need to say thank to Frank and other staff for this.
I will suggest to everybody to use it and if they upgrade then they can find tenant more easily
Very very helpful!
I found this site really helpful and easy to use. And to cap it all it was free! If I had needed a lodger urgently I could have become a Premium member so that prospective tenants and I could have viewed our emails to each other, but as it was not so urgent the standard service was sufficient. I have always had really nice tenants when using this service and I would recommend it to anyone.
I like Easyroomate as I have used before the platform in a different country. I thought sometimes locations were different and people just wouldn't read the add I posted, frustrating me tons every time I received a comment or a message.
I was lucky enough to find a nice roommate and will move in 3 weeks. :)
I had a paid add for 1 year, I have always being receiving emails from them telling me that they had a mach, which was never a mach, then all of the sudden I realized that my add was having some problems and not sure for how long it had the issues. I contact them about it and few months later still got no reply!!!!!! I got 2 people interested which I had to threat them with the police if they didn't stop contacting me, 1 wanted more than a 'room mate' and another was ringing me each day 'few times' to speak with me and telling me that HE MISSED ME, even that already agreed that we wouldn't not be sharing, I have only meet weirdos, I even asked couple friends to check out my add, in case there was something that could be misunderstood, and nothing was out of place ... Separate to that my account had problems how knows for how long and as mentioned I had to dis activate while I asked them what had happened, and request a partial refund and I'm still awaiting!!!!! By pure coincidence I was telling about it to a friend and his landlord also had similar experiences as a paying landlord.
My advice, stay away and don't waste your money with them. :-(. To top it up, I have contacted them about highly possible scamers and they never looked into it. :-(
I placed an add and within a couple of days someone made an appointment to visit my room to let. I have also been kept informed daily of other members who meet my criteria. The website is simple to use and interactive even with basic membership and not paying a penny. I am well impressed.
Easyrrommate is an awesome website when someone looks for a place in London! I really have to admit, its a complete service, very nice people and offers all we need to find the perfect place to stay in London!
I love it!
