I received an email from Victoria with some helpful suggestions.
I replied thanking her, but was unsure if I had replied to an advanced script. After I sent the thank you email, I got at auto reply acknowledgement and then felt really silly. However today I got an email from Victoria wishing me luck.
So this is for you Victoria, 5 stars. A real person! :D
Easyroommate.com seemed effective when I firstly begun using it, it gives the impression that lots of new properties are being listed every day (as I received new e-mails with matches- and as the date in which the room were available is stated at the top of each page). HOWEVER: -After closer inspection, I realised that the date in which MOST of the listings were published were months prior, sometimes years, deeming them inactive and no longer available. -Many people with rooms "available" fail to update their profile (see problem above), whom consequently never reply to your e-mails. -Most daily e-mail matches were exactly the same matches, over many days, and did not fit my specification. -The website had a few functionality problems which at times made it annoying to use.
I hope you find this website more useful then we did. Occasionally you get a few listings that may be interesting, but otherwise not worth the money.
actually we find our accomondation in a privat way, but I recieved a daily email with new information about the flat/house situation. This would be very helpful to find the right person/flat/house......
Hi i have been using this company for about 7 years and initially found them to be very useful in finding tenants however after numerous website adjustments and their absolute refusal to give honest move dates i am now completely fed up with their inability to be honest and open.
you will notice that nearly all the adverts from tenants looking for rooms show their desired move in date as TODAY'S date............this is ludicrous and completely untrue and completely useless for landlords to work with............clearly a move in date is essential information so you can target your responses to those who are looking to move around the time your room becomes vacant,
I have asked on many occasions for them to take accurate move dates from advertising tenants even suggesting to them they do not allow the tenant registration process to continue until a tenant has given a genuine and realistic date- but they say they cannot be responsible for this simple and important action. they say many tenants do not tell them their move date...........well EASYROOMMATE - INSIST that they do or DO NOT REGISTER them !- ok ? SIMPLES !
they also keep tenants adverts on the site for months after they have already found rooms (in order for their site to look more busy with searching tenants- which is better for their advertising revenue streams and landlords signing up think it is a really busy site) and so you keep mailing them in case they are still looking- it just wastes our time- infuriating ! having no real idea if the person you are mailing is still looking for a room or not- drives me mad personally !!
they should adjust the site so tenants looking have to positively click a button saying something like ''continued interest in my search'' on a weekly basis so the site is kept upto date and useful- they can surely monitor if people are not using the site and also send out an email to say ''you have not used the site for x days/weeks if you want your profile to stay active please log in and confirm you are still looking or your search account will be suspended''- but oh no something like this is too hard for them :( They have no intention of changing their site so that they and we landlords know who is still looking and who has found somewhere or given up the search.
I cannot tell you how much time i have wasted on this infuriating site over the years targeting potential tenants who are unavailable to move on the dates my rooms are becoming available or only to hear they found a room months ago.
I have mailed them countless times asking for these 2 fundamentally important factors to be included and amended on their website and all i get are pathetic responses that they will look into it with their website team
Landlords Say: NOT GOOD ENOUGH EASYROOMMATE- CHANGE YOUR SITE OR LOSE US TO YOUR COMPETITION FOREVER !
Easyroommate is basically compatible. Their rates are higher I think,& their service is dodgy ., the same as other Co's on the Net today. You get less than what you asked for 50% of the time. Not knowing their Co., I think they are trying to do a good job with what info they ask for & the questions they ask should be more, & with an option to be more explicit if the 'client' so requests it. Perhaps it might be a good idea to have a round table discussion with those on the receiving end of their computers to see if they can come up with a few good ideas to improve their image. An additional aspect on their website would be to have an 'extra' in their 'blab' to extract client info for what they should do to improve their image (better than Gumtree), or widen their scope. more like Twitter & Facebook
I listed an ad for an available room filling out all my search criteria. When I clicked on My Results to see any matches, virtually every match totally disregarded my search criteria. Verified everything was set correctly and got the same results. Contacted customer support and they assured me that everything was working correctly. "Said" they had signed on to my account and verified it. Nope. Checked again and still being matched without regard for my search criteria. Contacted them again and they finally admitted there was an issue. 9 days in to my 10 day membership and it still doesn't work. Cancelled my account and will use other websites.
It's quick and easy to get your ad up and running. Bit more tricky if you've only got an iPhone as you can't load pics or tweak your ad. But just found out you can email Frank with photos and they will put them on for you. Good site
Hi, I am disappointed in the protocols and service at Easyroommate.com.au.
I paid for membership and I posted an advert on Sunday lunchtime, but the photos were not displayed until about 7pm Tuesday.
1.) At nearly 6pm on Sunday I received an email saying that the photos are over 1 mb in total, and consequently not approved. This was incorrect as the total size of the photos was only 599kb.
2) However, I changed one of the photos, and submitted all the photos again (now they were a total of 565kb). Now the photos were not displayed on the advert as I had to wait for a human approval.
3) At nearly 6pm on Monday I received an email saying that photos were rejected as the total size was still above 1 mb. I double checked, but this information was completely incorrect as the total was only 565 kb.
I wrote an email to the website administrator, but received an automatic reply to the effect that it can take up to 48hrs for a response.
4) At nearly 7pm on Tuesday I received an email saying that the photos were accepted, However, when I looked at my advert the first photo was not displayed, and another photo was displayed twice.
5) I don't want to even think about correcting their error in the photos, as my advert will have no photos displayed until they are approved by a human, and probably their computer will probably reject them (as it seems to think that 565kb is over 1mb)....
I'm very unhappy.....
Another competing website does not have these issues, it publishes all photos straight away and then lets their web visitors report any inappropriate photos.
Why can't easyroommate.com.au have the same protocol?
I did find a roommate from this site (I had posted on a couple of others too) and I am happy with the outcome. This site doesn't seem as cleanly/efficiently run as Roommates.com and it seems to also cater to landowners who are posting (mostly) available share situations. I didn't like having to weed through the landowner postings, because they didn't seem right, somehow. One even posted pics that looked exactly like a hotel room. I reported this to the sight, and it was removed immediately. Don't know if 'Victoria' is in the UK or what, but it took about 24 hours each time for 'her' to respond to me in NYC. If you are in a big hurry to find housing (I wasn't) be prepared, and maybe also post on other sites. In the end it was worth the $30 bucks I spent. As always, don't say yes to anything before looking, or sending a friend to look on your behalf.
After nine months listing my place to share there's only been a few nibbles. Apart from the international people with little English, only one person made arrangements to check the house and then didn't bother showing.
Nothing is free, no matter what the advertising says, If Easyroommate is as good as the operators would have you believe, then the happy customers are the ones who pay to be listed. That's both sides, the person with the accommodation and the person looking for accommodation. Some people have been listed on this site for months too, so it's the old story, you get what you pay for.
I was give many room options for rent unfortunately did not apply to any of them because I was still unsure whether to move from my current address or not. I found the service overall a 10 out of 10 couldn't find any faults in your service delivery. Well done !
I have used Easy Roomate on a number of occasions as i often spend several months in different locations for my work.
I have not always found something but when i have it has a good experience. Most recently through Easy Roomate i found excellent accommodationwith nice people in Edinburgh. The administrators at Easy Roomate are pro active and helpful.
