We cannot necessarily criticise EconomyCarRentals as the booking through them went okay, but the car hire company, Right Cars in Glasgow, turned out to be rogues. The price was very good, too cheap probably, and the car was in immaculate condition. No problems in getting collected (their office is in nearby Paisley and you have to phone them to get picked up and taken there to attend to the formalities and collect the car).
However, we did not know and were not informed beforehand that a deposit of £350 by credit card would be required (a total of £950 as damage excess suddenly appeared in the rental contract). There was no mention of this in the paperwork sent by EconomyCarRentals.
The crunch came with the return of the deposit. We have waited more than 4 weeks for it to be refunded (their website claimed it had been effected right away, which is just not true!) and that only happened after 2 phone calls and emails to the Right Cars office.
One can only surmise that their rental rates are so low because they subsidise their business by working with your money for weeks on end. NEVER again! Right Cars' business practices should be officially investigated.
I have just completed approx. 3 weeks travelling around the South Island in a rental vehicle hired from "Go Rentals" in Christchurch. I cannot speak highly enough of the service I received from all the staff and also the quality of the vehjcle I was supplied with. In all it was a really good experience in all ways.
i have used economycarrentals for all of my European rentals for some time now; never any problem and good prices. Last rental the rental company claimed someone had damaged the car superficially during my rental. Fortunately I had taken out the zero liability with Economycarrentals (for much less than the rental companies offer themselves), and got reimbursed for the full amount. Very much recommended!
We have used EconomyCarRentals over the past five or six years in Europe, the UK and in South Africa and they have always found the best deal for us without any hassle. Our latest rental in Cape Town was nearly half the price of the big Rental Companies and the vehicles are always of an acceptable standard with some upgrades too. The best feature is to take the zero Insurance Excess which also saves a huge amount of money!

It was my first time, when I rented a car. I chose ECR because they offered the lowest price and included perhaps all additional payments to avoid “surprises” at the desk. ECR can be very convenient to deal with for travelers without experience in renting cars. It seems to be the only company which includes one-way charge in the price, and the latter was really important for me.
In fact in my case they didn’t included one-way charge, but three days before the rent they informed me of the technical mistake during booking due to which one-way charge had been omitted in the price and they offered to compensate me the difference. To my mind this fact says ECR value their reputation. I would mark one more advantage of dealing with ECR, i.e. their refundable excess offer.
The website of the company is done very well. It allows getting much information and makes booking rather simple and comfortable. During one booking I had to communicate with them on many issues, including refund damage charges. They respond promptly. I would like to rate the service as very high and I’m going to recommend ECR to my friends because ECR provides attractive prices, good customer service very reliable and friendly atmosphere.
In conclusion I want to draw attention to the fact, that first of all it is very important to understand all the car booking rules, to be attentive while reading all agreements especially those concerning insurance, fuel and others to understand where is the zone of responsibility of the aggregator, the one of the local renter partner and your own one. It may take much time, but it guaranties good booking. My experience shows that it is worth spending time on.
I booked a car from them on Corsica in July, which went fine until we had an accident efter two days. We filled out the necessary insurance papers and got help from our hotel to call the local car rental and arrange a switch to a new car.
When we arrived, we were told to pay a deductible of EUR 1400 which sounded very strange, since we bought a full insurance with zero deductible when booking. Since we had no other option we had to pay the deductible and were told that we be refunded within 1-2 months by the car rental company after the insurance companies cleared the claim between them.
It has now been 4 months and I havent received any refund. I have emailed back and forth with Economycarrental's customer service, who keeps telling me to be patient as it is out of their hands, since the claim is being handled by insurance company. They are saying they are doing all the can to get through directly to the car rental company / the insurance company, but they seem to never be able to get through to them. EUR 1400 is alot of money!!!!
I learned a valuable lesson and will never use them again, they do not seem to be customer minded when you actually need them! The case is still pending, so the final judgement is still not set in stone but I am losing hope that I will ever see that money again - I really hope they prove me wrong!!!
My best advice - NEVER GO FOR THE LOWEST PRICE ANYMORE, COMPANIES LIKE ECONOMYNCARRENTAL ARE NOT ALWAYS WORTH IT, WHICH I HAVE LEARNED THE HARD WAY, I REGRET USING THEM NOW THAT MY MONEY ARE GONE!
Delivery was on time, car owner was very helpful and friendly
Car not working properly, when we go %7 uphill on the normal national road car power went to down completely. Second problem was on the brakes. after 200KM drive car's breaks broken and a powerful friction sound came from the wheel sections. Car was like new and only 50.000 KM ! and went to service maintenance on time (checked on the service form).

This site had the lowest prices on the net, I was surprised how good the car was once I picked it up in Croatia. The staff was very helpful and gave me all the assistance I needed. There were no maps in the car, I would suggest offering customers an option of hiring a GPS. I will definitely use them again.
We rented a car with Economy Car Rental in October 2013 from Malaga, Spain.
We want to warn everybody considering using Economy Car Rental. Please be careful with prices promised by the site and conditions of the contract. From our experience contract details may not be honoured by the actual rental company at the pickup point. As a result your promised price can be many times higher than you have committed through Economy Car Rental. In our case we paid 240 EUR instead of 63 EUR. Call the actual provider first to avoid unpleasant surprises at the middle of a night at unfamiliar place.
GOOD: Cheapest car rental.
BAD: Deposit is EconomyCarRental comision. It is not deducted from the total.
BAD: Insurance deposit is hefty.
•On arrival the car was different (expected because advertised as similar).
•The deposit paid on EconomyCarRental is a comision, it will NOT be deducted from the total (expected from reading other reviews).
•Car clean outside but not so clean inside.
•Beware, if you don't pay for parking, the car will get scratched. Ours was all scratched to begin with.
•Insurance advertised as full was indeed full. No need to pay extra.

I have rented with EconomyCarRentals for these last 2 or 3 years. I have never had any problems. Even the chatting system is great where one can contact any queries instantly. Definitely will use this company again. Cheaper rates with the same service.
If you are looking for a decent car rental broker with really low prices, don't think twice.
Just be sure to pay attention to the fine print. Just like Ryanair, everything is low-price and as described, but many people complain, because they are too lazy to read the rules and conditions. I would recommend economy car rentals to anyone who wants more with less money.
I have rented a small car in Athens, Greece with 'Refundable excess' option.
Car type and all options were exactly as specified in economycarrentals order. No additional payments were required.
Unfortunately the car was totally crashed in an accident, so the local rental company has charged the excess of 500 euro.
I have applied to economycarrentals for excess refund. Economycarrentals replied to emails not very fast (about a week in some cases), but all emails was replied and I was told what to do to refund the excess. I had sent all needed papers and then economycarrentals refunded all the excess of 500 euro to my credit card without any friction. All process took 75 days so please be patient.
After all, I am totally satisfied with economycarrentals service.
Four month old car supplied, was upgraded free of charge due to lack of preferred car availability. Very friendly and helpful. Met at airport, exactly as advised. To be honest couldn't be happier, smooth hire and trouble-free return. Many thanks!!!
Réservation faite sur leur site et qu'il n'ont pas confirmée au loueur local (le voucher était pourtant en ma possesion)... résultat : réservation en direct plein tarif et 3h au télephone avec le service client d' Economy car rental pour rien et surtout pas d'excuses ou autres...)
De plus le site se gargarise de ne pas faire payer de frais cachés (retour en heure tardive ou matinale.)..la réalité: la voiture doit etre rendue sans que vous puissiez faire le tour du véhicule avec le loueur (l'agence n'ouvre pas avant 6H30.....pourtant ils sont bien au courant que votre avion décolle à 7H00... et que vous demandez donc à restituer le véhicule vers 5H30 / 6H..) ne reste plus qu'à faire une prière pour la restitution de votre caution.. surtout que l'avenue ou on vous demande de garer la voiture est plus que fréquenté (zone industrielle située à 2km de l'aeroport...)...et autre sujet qui fâche les deux kilometres jusqu'a l'aeroport... il faudra prévoir de les faire... à pieds,car pas de navette de transfert ... puisque le loueur n'est pas ouvert ....mais là economy car rentals vous répondra que 2km à pieds ce n'est pas génant .... pour qui ? ...eux surement... ils étaient surement convaincus que les loueurs locaux de voiture étaient aux pieds des pistes.... PATHETIQUE.

Booked a car with 2 child car seats at Dubai Airport Terminal 3, Paid a deposit to economycarrental.com When I got there, their partner (ALAMO/ NATIONAL) didn't have the car seats. Instead of sympathizing, they were quite rude! I was left with dragging my luggage and family around the airport trying to find another car rental company. Found one, but you know what the rates are like - ended up paying nearly double
Came back from holiday, and economycarrental.com has been liaising with ALAMO/NATIONAL for almost the past 2 months - they wanted to see my new agreement that I signed, receipt, get this --- asked me to send my credit card number on email with expiry date!
I don't think I will get my money back - so will have to report the credit card company

Assurance qui fonctionne très bien. On en a eu besoin suite à des rayures sur le véhicule. le loueur nous a prélevé 300 €, economy cars rentals nous a remboursé la totalité !

We ended up paying 300,-€ extra for 1 week. On the voucher it was the stated "Full Insurance" and web only learned by the german support team after the booking, that, the offers are strictly listed according to the price, with no individual possibility to upgrade inssurances for each offer, which made it a bit difficult to figure out. When we delivered the car in Bucharest airport, the Romanian partner S.C. TOURING RENT AUTO made 20 photos to "prove" that new skratches happend to the car body and send us the invoice for reparation with the exact amount of 300,-€ which covered the deposit of the same amount. The German support is helpful and willing to investigate why we have been charged with this amount since there no new traceable scratches have occured. We are hoping for a fair result and to get our deposit back. - One month later, it turned out, that there is no chance to get the diposit back, because we did not check thoroughly enough. PLEASE: if you should rent a car in Romania by S.C. TOURING RENT AUTO via EconomyCarRentals make sure to take as many photos as necesarry to prove the condition of the car!!
1. the company was almost 15 min late on hotel pickup
2. the car was not clean
3. the company rep. did not speak english. To coordinate return of vehicle at airport i was handed a mobile phone and told to "just park at the airport and leave the keys in the boot".
4. at the airport I could not lock the car because there was a safety mechanism preventing locking of the car with keys in boot. So I called the company and was told to leave the car nevertheless. I also left behind 2 Euros for the parking which I thought was nice because it's not my fault that they don't have parking spaces at the airport like other rental companies (and agreed to a price with airport drop-off beforehand)
5. On 3.11. my credit card was charged with an additional 40 euros. I have no idea what this charge was for.
6. I have photos of the car when picking it up, leaving it at the car part etc to document everything. Besides the negative experience with the service I do not understand why I was charged an additional 40 Euros. (I returned the car with a full tank, as agreed).

I have used EconomyCarRentals many times, when I have hired cars in many countries in Europe and have been always very satisfied . Last summer I caused accidentally a little damage to the hire car . I made and sent all necessary documents to EconomyCarRentals and after their processing they refunded to me the excess amount. The most important thing is, that you make a good damage report with attachments, they need to.
I rented a car this summer in Bologna with Economy Car Rental. On arrival the car was not available, and no record of my booking was found at Firefly, the company that should have provided the car.
Economy Car rentals simply put the blame on Firefly and left me standing in the cold, forcing me to rent a car at twice the price.
A promise was made to see if they could get a refund from Firefly for me, and my reservation fee of 24.95 euro would be refunded. Both never happened!
Five months, and many emails with just as many apologetic replies later, still nothing has happened.
My advice is the NEVER RENT with Economy Car Rentals. They are frauds!
