It appears that this company has gone insolvent and is about to be liquidated. The company's websites have also been shut down.
Have a look at this forum discussion: http://www.avforums.com/forums/camcorders-video-editing/986957-anyone-bought-elite-gadgets-before-7.html
It contains contact information of the people handling the insolvency/liquidation. If any of you are owed money by Craig Barker, these people might be able to provide information as to how to get it back.
I ordered a Samsung TV on 15/7/11, I wanted only that particular model - which was available ex stock at Elitegadgets.com. I had initially paid by personal card registered to my home address, but wanting the TV to be delivered to my office address as no one is at home during the day. The payment initially went through but 4 days later I got email saying that the card and delivery addresses were different hence the goods could not be dispatched. This was understandable so I used my company card registered at office address. Same again, payment initially went through but 4 days later I got email saying that the card and delivery addresses are different hence the goods could not be dispatched - this could not be possible as the registered and delivery addresses were the same for this card. However, both payments were refunded to the respective cards - thankfully.
I then placed the order by paying online via bank transfer on 27/7/11 at Craig Barker's advice, and though the payment should be in the receiving company's NANWEB bank account within a couple of hours, Craig kept on saying he has not received it. I checked with my bank Barclays and they issued a report that the fund's were in Nanweb's HSBC account on the same day.
In the meanwhile, as I wanted the TV by 30/7/11 at the latest, I kept on calling Craig and once managed to speak to him, he said that as he had not yet received the funds, he could not order the TV (the website said they had stock and he was going to order it!!!) until he had clear payment. So I told him to cancel the order and refund the payment back to the same account it was paid from, as the delivery - if and when made - will not reach me by my required date of 30/7/11 (that's why I had started the initial transaction well in advance on 15/7/11). He agreed to do the refund, of course once he 'located' my payment.
I therefore had to buy a similar size Samsung TV (different model) from Currys to make do in my presentation on 30/7/11.
On 2/8/11 I finally got an email reply from Craig that he has received my payment, and asked for my bank details to refund it, and said he will tell his accounts team to do it. I gave that immediately but received no refund for a week.
After several emails and calls, on 10/8/11 by email he apologised for the delay and said that the payment has been done on that day.
I have still not received that refund as at date of posting on this forum (12/9/11). All calls and emails after 10/8/11 have not been answered.
I have now filed a complaint with my local police station to investigate if the business is genuine because I fear my company bank details as well as the 2 credit card details I gave to this company could be misused in future. Then its for my lawyers to recover the debt with costs.
If Craig Barker is a genuine businessman, he should have paid my refund first before confirming he has done it, late as it may have been.
From the mixed comments I have seen on this thread, maybe he is not an out and out conman, but he should face the consequence of defaulting on his commitments.
Enough said, I think I will just let the authorities handle this from now on.
I tried to order on line, the automated procedure keeps saying my bank has declined payment, but I have checked with them and they haven't declined anything. As far as they are concerned its a valid transaction. I Tried phoning elitegadgest at least 10 times over a three day period, but no answer. I am now really suspicious and will make sure my bank does not honour the requests made by me for payment for this item if any requests are made
They sent a battered second-hand camera (someone had helpfully put a sticker on the side saying "B-"), in place of the one I ordered.
This company doesn't appear to understand the UK's Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations and has so far not refunded my money.
I fully expect to be reclaiming my payment in the Small Claims Court...
I'm generally happy with the service, however I have few points to note. The webpage stated the item to be in stock, but this was not the case and I had to wait for 3 weeks for the item to be delivered. Also, it took the customer service several days to reply to my e-mails. In the end I did get my item in a perfect condition and I'm happy about it.
I bought a camera two months ago and my money was taken immediately from the card but no camera was dispatched after three weeks. When chasing, I received a message about a faulty stock and the need to reflll the stock but when asking for updates over three weeks the communication was extremely poor or non existent.
Tried to reach this company by phone and it just rang forever and no one picks up so I asked for a full refund via the website.
I got a confirmation email of my refund and I kinda felt relieved BUT after more than four weeks still no money was paid back into in my account!
EG does not answer the phone neither returns my emails.
I have reported EG to my Bank and will report to the police since they stole 200 pounds!
PLEASE TRY TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS "COMPANY" and please also share similar experiences in this forum so that there is more evidence and this criminal will hopefully be caught.
Be aware that this Craig operates under different company names and websites and has changed a few business names since 2007.
I seriously doubt than any of the positive reviews here are authentic.
If still in doubt check the avforums.com website and read how many people have been scammed. I am sorry I did not search the web before buying. Good lesson learnt.
Elite Gadgets has same company number and vat number as osoo. I ordered an item from osoo.co.uk expecting next day delivery as the product was showing as in stock and the payment had been taken from my credit card. 5 days later and the item has still not arrived.
I have tried ringing but the phone just goes to answerphone and the company have not replied to my calls.
I have sent emails which have also gone unanswered.
My only course of action left is to initiate a dispute with my credit card company in order to obtain a refund.

I ordered a pair of 3D glasses for use with my Samsung TV as the company said they were in stock. They were also at a fair price in comparison to other sites and much better than in the High St. They arrived within a few days in good order and so my experience with this company has been good.
Bought 2 sets of 3d glasses on web site says they were rechargeable but when receive they were battery operated and did not look like ones on web site I contacted them and they offered me a refund but I had already opened one of the pairs to try and they were ok so decided to keep them also when ordered they said in stock but took 3 weeks to arrive . However they were the best price I could find at the time and they do work fine
The Samsung SSG-3100GB/XC 3D Glasses is the latest product with a stylish appearance and a comfortable wear design.
When using the SSG-3100GB/XC Glasses it will help to view the lifelike 3D virtual pictures on Samsung D-series 3D TV.
The auto power on/off mode build-into this pair of rechargeable Samsung 3D glasses realizes a great save on battery life.
as of writing this review their web site still has the wrong description about the glasses even though I told them they were wrong ssg 3100 are NOT rechargeable
Ordered a camera from the above website entering my full address in the usual place and yet I received an email saying the camera had been delivered to a flat 5 doors down my road! Not sure how they can get the address wrong after I typed it correctly into the form. Luckily the people at this flat were nice and held the parcel for me and I picked it up.
Box was also dented.
Camera however is good and works fine.
I ordened a battery for a Nikon Coolpix 8400. It took several weeks and some e-mails before it arrived. The battery does not fit in the camera and the battery charger. I sent several e-mails to Elitegadgets but did not get any answer.
I wanted two sony TX7's, got them both sent for one delivery cost. Brand new in un-opened boxes. At a cost that I could have paid for one, on some sites. very pleased. Surprised that there are negative postings. I'm very pleased with my purchase and would not hesitate to use again.
After looking on the internet for ages for a company that sold a particular camera I was happy when I found it on Elite Gadgets and thought it would make a perfect birthday present for someone. I have found this camera elsewhere a lot cheaper but they were all refurbished models which I did not want.
I checked Elistgadgets FAQs page which says:
Are all items brand new?
Yes, all items are brand new. Unlike some sellers, all of the items which we sell are brand new. We not sell refurbished stock. All items are brand new in their original packaging.
So, imagine my surprise when the camera arrived in a box with REFURBISHED on!! I had paid almost twice the price of other retailers and still got somethong I did not want. Not only does this company have TERRIBLE customer services, they're outright LIARS as information on their own website is wrong!!
I would not recommend and would erge you NOT to use this company EVER!!!!!

I've only ordered once from EliteGadgets--being in Canada I'm not quite in their target market and I have plenty of choices here. But I was searching for a Panasonic leather case for my Panasonic camera--you'd think that would be easy enough to find *somewhere* in North America. Well, after exhausting every avenue I could think of, I finally discovered the item on EliteGadgets' web site. I had never ordered from Europe before and was leery about the shipping and any potential hassles. But I'm happy to report that everything went smoothly--the price was good after exchange, the shipping charge was fair, and the item arrived with no nasty surprises. It took a while to get here, but not as long as items shipped from Asia.
An item was sent a few months after the order (I believed it had been cancelled). The item was returned in original packaging but Elite Gadgets denied having received it (nothing on their website suggests I had to go to the expense of Recorded Delivery) and refused to give a refund.
Completely unsatisfactory and very poorly handled from start to finish - leaving the customer close to £90 out of pocket. Communication was appalling.
I would not use them again despite the attractive prices.

Ordered a phone for a christmas present, which didnt arrive for a couple of weeks. When it did it wasnt even the right colour. So i emailed them and they said it wasnt in stock, so they thought they'd send the silver phone instead. Wasnt impressed. Then, about a two weeks ago the phone broke. So I contacted them to find out how to return it and all they did was send me a copy of my invoice, with no writing or explaination. So i emailed again and told them the problem and their reply was of no help. Then on the third email they said it was a sony ericsson warranty. So I emailed to ask to I deal with SE directly and the reply was "Yeah, if you want". To sum things up, 1)Completely useless in terms of helping. 2) Phone was overpriced. 3) Wasnt what I ordered. 4) Basic packaging with the phone. Didnt even get an instruction manual.
Worst online company I've ever had dealings with!!!! Item was ordered after 2weeks still had not arriver. So I rang them and they had no idea what happened even tho the money had been taken out but said it would be sent out in 1week. Again after 2weeks a total of 4weeks since it was first ordered I rang and rang and finaly got through again and with no answer to my question I canclled the order!
I only give 1 rating star as there is nothing lower !!!!!

I purchased the camera from them because the camera was shown as being in stock although when I contacted them I was told it was a pre-order, this was not mentioned on the website. and that it would be a couple of weeks.
The response to my queries was swift and curtious, although the information was a little inaccurate, and the item was packaged well but I would hesitate to buy from them again if I needed something quickly as they advertise products as being in stock when they clearly are not.
When I bought the product it was stated as being in stock, although Panasonic had not released it. When communicating they were excellent with the response times and truthful with the proposed delivery dates. I would certainly use them again as the products are excellent and they are very reasonably priced.
I wanted to get a Wii Fit Balance Board as a Christmas present when the product first came out (2008). I couldn't find anywhere that had it in stock.
Elitegadgets did still have stock, and could deliver on time, and so I was happy to pay well over the odds for the product (£109.99 when everywhere else was offering the product for around £70-£80, but none in stock).
Everything arrived on time, so no problems there.
I haven't used the service again, as I prefer to use other providers like amazon, and I've improved my present buying planning to avoid paying too much in future.
I have been purchasing items online for many years and this was one of the worst experiences I have had. The purchase was of a weather station for a Christmas present, bought via Amazon. When it was opened for use the weather station itself was totally dead and not functioning at all. Emailed (via Amazon) to inform Elite Gadgets of this and to ask for full refund.
After 5/6 days or so of hearing nothing I phoned repeatedly and got many engaged tones but eventually got through but only to an answer machine - I left a message.
After 10 days I emailed again via Amazon saying how unimpressed I was with both the non-working item and also with hearing nothing and again asked for a full refund. About a day later got quite an abrupt email back saying that if they hadn't replied it must only be because they hadn't had an email and saying a replacement would be sent.
I replied repeating again that I wanted a full refund and also, as Amazon keeps a copy of emails sent to sellers, I copied that into my reply.
I was sent another email saying I could return the item and including a returns form to complete - but no post paid coupon. I completed the form and returned the item at my expense but with cost of return postage noted inside the item. About a week or 10 days later I had not received a refund but was sent another weather station! I had to email yet again to get my refund (without the return postage) and also had to return the 'extra' weather station they had sent.
So, a broken item was sent and it took 4/5 emails, a phone call and almost a month of time for the matter to be resolved and I still ended up out of pocket.
Very poor experience indeed.
The only reason it is 2 stars rather than 1 is that according to the review scoring system 1 is only for an experience that 'can be considered as fraud'.
not a fast moving company, from my email record, over a week to be dispatched & if my memory serves me correctly then some time before delivery.
The £75.95 Battery arrived too late for the holiday :-(
Just over a year later they ask me for a revew.
3 stars is given for a acceptable experience, which ended with the promised product being delivered in the desired quality.
If it is not common order in plentey of time. the battery worked well this March holiday
Although the website was easy to use and the product arrived very quickly I was promised a refund when I realised I had ordered the wrong battery for my camera in error. The refund never materialised and despite sending the battery to the company address by recorded delivery for a refund twice the package was returned to me on the 1st occasion by the post office and I received no response on the 2nd occasion. I ended up buying the correct battery elsewhere.

If you want to 'chance it' to save a couple of quids then good luck. You might be in for a little bit of a wait though as stock isn't always held on site - and this isn't mentioned.
It may not even be available 'In Stock' via the third party that is going to deliver it - so be prepared for some anxious waiting - with little correspondence.
You've been warned.
