Unfair insurance expenses for foreigners

We have a local branch of Enterprise just around the corner and have used them four times over the last year. The major problem is their disproportionally expensive and unfair insurances offered to foreigners without American credit cards. The price of the car is actually the minor expense when you want to rent a car for the weekend.

Branch Manger Threatened my husband in front of customers (North Oak location)

This is the worst company ever! I told the guy that rented me the car because I had an accident SEVERAL times I did not want to pay additional money for insurance when I have full coverage insurance with SEVERAL witnesses including my husband. Yet after telling him this he marks where I need to initial and I initial and sign where he indicated and well of course he signed me up for the insurance! It says decline everywhere yet the line across where he has me initial enrolled me for 18.00 insurance?! They also didn't put my husband on the rental agreement and charged his credit card (I am not even an authorized user on this card) for the bill of 386.00 which should have been 33.48 and it has been a 3 week battle with them trying to get them to fix this error. The branch manager called me stupid and a liar in front of witnesses as well. We have yet to receive a call from the regional manager. This has been the most unbelievable experience you can imagine.

Enterprise is horrible

Rented a car for my Palm Beach trip and was not impressed. I requested a non-smoking mid-size car. When I sat in the car, I immediately noticed the overbearing air freshener and the masked stench of cigarette smoke. I requested a different vehicle, and I was told that I would have to take a small car or upgrade because they were out of mid-size cars. I asked if they would upgrade and give me a discount to offset the fuel mileage. The manager actually laughed and said that they can't. I immediately walked outside to call another rental car agency. Forgetting my wallet on the counter, I walked back in to hear the manager telling his staff "Why would we discount her - we will rent every one of these tonight!"

I was upset at that point. I asked the girl at the counter to cancel my reservation, and I walked to Alamo. I told the manager there what had happened and they offered me the deal that I asked Enterprise for without hesitation. They gave me a Chrysler 300 for the same price as a Nissan compact. I think it was a versa. The Alamo staff was genuinely nice. Also, they were classy. Instead of bashing Enterprise, they simply said "We are sorry you had a bad experience. We will take care of you."

Enterprise is off my radar now!

Bad service and watch out for the insurance fee!

've rented from Enterprise four times in the past two months (they're the closest car rental company from where I live).
In spite of the fact I've been renting with them regularly and am always dealing with the same people, they have made zero commercial gestures.
They require you to come in with a paycheck stub or a utility bill in your name. Even though I've rented 4 times in less than 2 months with them, they still want me to bring a utility bill. I ran into a big hassle with my printer and called to see if I could bring something on a flash drive. They said they could not open anything from a flash drive (I've seen them print google maps directions from their computers so they're not restricted in what they can do on the machines). So much for making things easier.
The people who work there are not all pleasant. I've only been to a small West Michigan office so I don't know if it's the same everywhere. Anyway, a couple people are always making an effort to smile and be helpful. One guy always complains about how hard his job is and the one lady seems so confused about what is going on it's painful to watch. I talked to her on the phone and after telling her my name, explaining that I had rented from their location before, she pulled my info on her computer. The first thing she asks is my address to make sure I'm calling the nearest location. At first she tells me the only option I have is an intermediate car at 10:30 (she makes it clear there is absolutely nothing else). I explain that 10:30 is not going to work for me, and that I need something earlier...all of a sudden she has 3 different classes of vehicles available for 9:30. I understand scheduling car rentals is not easy but lying to customers is not the best way to do it.
The fess are correct, the prices for the vehicles increase in function of the size and what you spend on the vehicle itself is reasonable. Then there is a $14 a day fee if you're under 24 (it's $14 A DAY, not for the whole rental). The part that really bothers me is the insurance they sell you. The insurance is NOT included in the quote they give you over the phone and they don't even mention the insurance over the phone. The first time I rented a car with them, I fill out the paperwork inside, we go take a look at the car and there I am told that they offer an insurance and that it's $60 a day. I'm really surprised at this point and don't really want to spend an additional $60, and after waiting 5 min in the freezing weather the Enterprise employee finally caves in and tells me I can also subscribe to their basic plan, which costs only $20 a day. From then on I just told them I wanted the $20 plan right away since they apparently don't want to tell customers about the cheapest option?
And they also take $250 (they call it a deposit) and then refund everything to your account except the cost of the rental + insurance.
The vehicles are overall pretty good. I've rented a SUV from them and the vehicle was really nice, same with an intermediate size vehicle (except for the car charger that had no power?). I've also rented one of their small disposable vehicles and would not recommend it (ticking noise coming from the motor, the gears were really rough, etc..)

If it sounds too cheap, it problably isnt't. Bad service and hidden cost!

Rented a car in Nice (France) for one week, incl. a navigation and ensurance for one week for around €140. When we picked up the car, the navigation was extra, and the ensurance didn't cover the last €850. So it ended up in €200.
After one day, the navigation stopped working, since the cigaret charger didn't work. Called the company, who gave us the address to get to the nearest town with a Enterprise office. The offece didn't exist on the address given. After som google search we found an other address which the Nice office didn't know about. We went there, and there was no car. After sone fight over the phone, they accepted to get us a new one at our location. They where 1 1/2 hour late. The new car worked and we delivered it back in same shape and full of diesel 6 days later. Today I got the reciept. The charched us for extra size car and almost 13 liter of diesel. Total cost €280.
Two stars for the ground floor personal who tried there best. 0 stars for Enterprice.com

Worst company I have ever dealt with

We needed a rental car because ours was involved in an accident. The insurance company used Enterprise. The car we received smelled of smoke and had burn holes in the seat. When we asked about insurance the dealer told us that State farm covers the car for $10/day. We assumed by that statement the car was covered. The company called on a daily basis reminding us when we needed to return the car. When we did return it they found a crack in the front bumper. I told them the crack was there it probably looks worse because it was freezing the day we got it and now its warmed up so it probably seperated from previous work. They told us their Damage department will contact us. When we have tried to talk to the damage department they refuse to fax us the information on previous damage. I would not recommend dealing with this company in anyway.

Best experience ever with a rental car company

Often we as consumers are dissapointed by poor sservice which makes some of use write reviews hoping that the provider will learn and improve. Once in a while we get surpirsed by fantastic service. I experienced that recently with the car rental company Enterprise. The service so good that next time I expect to be dissapointed ... I do not expect them to replicate. But if they do ... I will be blown away.

Now, I had booked a car for me and my family to be picked up in Heathrow airport. The rental cars are a bit away so it takes a shuttle ride. Nothing special, but the driver was polite and went direct rather than visiting the other manyu terminals. When we arrived a the rental car center we were received and greeted by one of the clerks when we got of the bus. He walked us all the way to his counter. I thought ... "what is he up to ?" ... he made the contract and we chit chatted a bit. His attitude was positive and unchanged also when he learned that I booked via TravelJigSaw to save money. But he took no offence from that. When finished he walked us to the car, went around it with us to identify any important scratches etc. He stayed by the car when we got in, and asked if I had located all the handles. Then I noted it was a manual gear shift and not the automatic we had booked. When mentioned he took us to another car, the procedure was repeated, and he was super friendly.

This was great service. I am not sure if so much service is sustainable from a business perspective ... obviously it would have a chance if I come back to Enterprise for my next many rental cars because of this experience.

Nothing less than the best experience ever with a rental car company.
