THOROUGHLY DISREPUTABLE OUTFIT - WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TO MY WORST ENEMY!

Hi Guys
Wanted to sell my white 16 GB iPhone 4.
Envirofone emails on 25/03/2014 said "Hi Christine, You have £80.01 from Envirofone waiting for you" and "Hi Christine, You've just sold us your device - price £80.01".
But email on 28/03/2014 said "Hi Christine, Your iPhone 4 has failed testing" and reduced price to £55.93, the reason given that the water damage marker on the charger port had been triggered.
I took my phone to the Apple Store on Regent Street where I was told the condition was excellent. Someone there recommended CeX. Took it to North End Road CeX branch yesterday (Fulham) and received £89 in cash no problem.
Envirofone withhold and manipulate information to get hold of your phone at well below market prices:
1. Envirofone refused to give any guidance on what might constitute damage when I phoned to ask. This is a common scam as with Zoomfish, who said my iPad was chipped and and damaged and reduced the price by £50, when I no longer had it to check OF COURSE. Water damage is indicated IF inside the headphone or charger ports a small spot has changed from WHITE to PINK or RED. But a small amount of colouring can come from moisture in the air and IS NO PROBLEM at all. I think it is a pretext to reduce the price offered.
2. I included two chargers when I sent my iPhone to Envirofone but they did not return them with my iPhone. Eventually I got ONE BACK , when I requested it, THEY SAID AS A GESTURE OF GOOD WILL! Normally keeping other people's property without their permission is called THEFT.
3. Envirofone website promises to return phones right away, if the offer is not accepted. In the event they tell you it will take up to 10 days. Why, when phones to sell are delivered the next day? It couldn't be that they are trying to push you to accept a lousy offer?
In my experience CeX is the place to go. I could alternatively have had a voucher for £120 to spend or upgrade inshore.

Picked up my phones. No receipt! Awaiting to see if they pay!

I've come home to find a BLANK SIGNED Consignment Note left by Interlink Express. The arranged time of the pick-up was 12-5pm. He came at 11am. I was at work but my girlfriend answered the door. Apparently, he couldnt pull the details up on his hand-held machine BECAUSE he was early.

I'd like to MAKE A COMPLAINT!

What proof have I that your driver took my phones. If I'd have been there I'd have told him to come back at the allotted time or come back when his machine was working!

If this is a scam then I'll be contacting the Police if it's apparent that the phones have not arrived with yourselves i.e. latest Monday. I've just tried ringing your offices - you've all left for the day. This is not a great experience.

Claim my iphone is water damaged! Never been near any water!

Offered £120 for iPhone 4s seemed a good deal! Paid £7 special delivery and just had email saying phone is water damaged! News to me my phone has never been dropped in water or had any spills on it and was in mint condition! Of course I can refuse the offer of £90 they have revised me due to this but is this some elaborate con to reduce payments? I bet most people would accept this! Everyone beware of thus before accepting trade in with these guys!

Great but...

Sold a 16GB iPhone 4 through Envirofone for £76, it passed all tests and payment was prompt. The only irritating thing is how often the prices they pay for each device change, before I'd even received an envelope for mine they were buying them for about £10 more! That said I had no issues with the actual service provided and I would happily use them again :P

Total Rip Off and then a stick in the tail and will be taking further action on moral grounds alone

Wish I had checked here forst.Exactly the same as previous reviewer dont use these guys. Offered £ 170 for two iphone 4 16gb units having just upgraded both to 5's with both 4's working perfectly upto the day of upgrade and were still perfect when sent but with following. I knew one had a cracked rear ( £ 25 to repair with MGroup ) and 1 had slight water damage on screen ( £ 50 to repair again with MGroup ) Seemed a waste to send off, get them repaired and then send to envirofone so assumed they would calculate similar repair and offer fair price as advertised. Competition offered £30 each for broken !! They offered £ 8.58 EACH and when I immediately rejected offer and requested phones back they then say phone being return and when you check the terms it takes upto 10 working days !!!! Trading Standards needed here I feel

Rip off

Offered me £120 initially for my iPhone 4S so accepted it. I then paid £7 to send it to them by special delivery. They then came back with a reviewed offer if £18.10 due to a half mm size scratch on the screen. A new screen can be obtained for £40. That leaves my phone value at £80. Absolutely disgusted by these chancers!!! If I could give them zero stars I would!

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

DONT USE ENVIROFINE!! sent in my phone which I had just got tested with Apple and told it was in perfect condition. Envirofone slashed the offer in half claiming water damage so I rejected the offer. To make things worse it has been a month now and there is no return of my phone (was told it would take 10 days!!). After contacting them I've been told it will take upto 3 weeks to find out what's happened and if it's 'lost' they will pay me the reduced offer that I rejected in the first place!! Plus I'm out the cost of special delivery!! Shocking company and total con!!

Sent off my s3 and because it had a problem with the battery COVER they took off £54!!
you can get a replacement cover for £3.99..

APPALED BY THE BLATANT LIES AND FALSE ADVERTISING BY THIS COMPANY !!!!

I sent envirofone my iphone (quoted £100.11) & a blackberry z10 (£65.00). I usually use [external reference] but as i had been quoted £20 more for my iphone from envirofone i thought i'd give them ago BIG MISTAKE !!. They sent me out packaging to send back via royal mail and a track option too so far so good. Then the problems started clearly stated on royal mails track and trace service that package had been delivered successfully on Tuesday 11th @ 8am. Called envirofone to confirm this and thats when the lies started. Customer service agent stated they had'nt received my phones yet and that royal mail missadvises customers all the time and this is an issue with using them. So i call royal mail they state no theyre giving you wrong information as its all done via handhelds that the delivery driver has and they are scanned when the driver is at the recipients address and we hold onfo on who accepted delivery etc. So i can evirofone again [name] they are clearly lying to you because we dont have your items. Eventually received them on the day after (Wednesday) when i called them. The customer service agent informed me that they would honour the price for the blackberry (£65.) but the iphone had a pressure mark on the lcd and our revised offer is £9.21. I asked agent there was no damage on the screen as iphones have reinforced glass and even if the lcd was damaged surely the screen would show damage too. Spoken to like an idiot and basically told take it or leave it. What the agent never counted on was i was in the apple store for a fault on the camera a few days prior to this (the fault was the front facing camera was blank - and this is a common fault experianced in iphones supposedly) and theyre engineer had accessed my phone opended it up / checked water damage indicators etc and if they had found any issues with the phe phone it wouldve been highlighted in the accessment after all that itturned out all that was needed to be done was a software update that resolved issue. Agent then offered for a 2nd assessment and later on that day i received a call from a nice female manage informing me as a gesture of goodwill we will honour original quote (£100.11) brilliant !!! but then i asked her when the payment will be clear and that when she told Monday 24th (for blackberry) and Tuesday 25th (for iphone) i said hold on why it taking that long when your website states 24hour process for a fast payment so why then. She stated it can take upto 8 days as stated in the t&c's my answer to that was why advertise 24hr payments when you clearly dont (now im not a lawyer but you may find thats classed as false advetising envirofone) She then came at me with another lie - stating that it is the bank that takes upto 8 days to process payment as its done via bacs - thats when i informed her i work in a bank as a financial advisor and that she's just blantantly lied to me. She told me im not lying thats the process and thats all i can advise you on so basically telling me tough. i said to her no im not accepting that excuse. What envirophone dont want you to know is they just dont want to pay a fee to the bank to get customers a faster payment - i put that to her and low and behold another lie. Asked her the companies complaints process is and that iam putting in a formal complaint about the you (the manger im on the phone to) for your blatant lies just to fob me off with any cock n bull story to get rid on me. She informed me that i can send a letter in. I then asked why cant i not do it via internet or with you now and was told only via letter is accepted. Today is the Thursday 20th March over a week since they got my phone still no payment. I have lodged a grievance against Envirophone with OFT (Office of fair trading) & ASA (Advertising standards authority) do to there false advertising / miss information & processes. SO DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO USE THIS COMPANY !! THEY

Won't be using again in the future. Shocking service and length of payment time is ridiculous!!!!

The fast payment statement is a joke as my phone was tested and accepted on the 17th, but I won't get my money until the 26th as it can take up to 7 working days to send the payment apparently. I queried this with one of their sales delay team, and was promptly referred to the terms and conditions that I had accepted. If 7 working days is their idea of fast payment, I would hate to see their version of slow payment. Sold my last phone to Mazuma and it was all sorted in the space of 5 working days, so it's a no brainer on who I will be using next time. If you are gonna sell a mobile, don't use Envirofone as the currency could have changed by the time you get your money!!!!!!!!!!!

NEVER EVER AGAIN! PLEASE DO NOT USE!!!

I sold my phone on the 22.02.14. It was received on 27.02.14. It successfully passed testing on 28.02.14 and the payment line reads "Your payment was sent to you on 03.03.14 at 07.33"
I have checked my bank account every day for the £320 owed to me and on the 4th working day thought something funny was going on. I decided to email Envirophone only to be told I am not receiving the payment until 11.03.14, 3 weeks after I started this whole process.
I will never use this company again, I will be telling everyone I know not to use them and If I hadnt been working all the time would have sold it on the high street and got the money the same day!!
I asked for the phone back and was told I could not receive the phone back as the payment has already been sent!!

So in summary they have my phone and they have my money! Utterly disgusting company!

Never never never again

I am absolutely furious that this company state water damage to try and reduce the payments. My iphones were absolutely immaculate and i had been offered almost as much from phones4u and a local company. Never again, what an absolute insult to to the integrity of good honest customers. No way is one of my phones water damaged - it's almost been wrapped in cotton wool and as good as the day i got it. I will have it back thank you and get my £120 elsewhere.

We received two iPhone's from you. One of them passed through at full value but the other one had a triggered water marker in the headphone port. If a water marker comes into contact with water it turns bright red, which is what has happened with your phone.

Avoid at all costs!

I sent in my iphone 5s 16gb which I know was fully working and I had literally had it for a couple of months. A friend gave me their unwanted upgrade so I sold them my iphone 5s. They offered me £350 for it and came back and said it was water damaged and would offer me £175 for it! I immediately rejected it as I knew there was no way it could be water damaged as I have had it in a case and it has never been in contact with water. I received my phone back relatively quickly which was the only consolation out of this nightmare situation. I sold my phone to another well known company who have confirmed today that it is in full working order and have agreed to pay me the full price. This infuriates me that companies like this think they can get away with it because there are some people who will want the money quick who will agree the half-price they get offered. I work for a well known communications company and will be letting my friends know of this awful experience I have endured.

When we received your phone we found that the water marker underneath the sim gate had turned red, indicating that it had come into contact with water. Because of this we weren't able to offer you the full value for your phone. You rejected our offer and we returned the phone to you free of charge. Many other recycling companies will charge anything up to £10 to return a phone.

Slow payment but good customer services

Unfortunately my iphone 4s 16gb has been water damaged so was offered half of what i was promised even though i was pretty sure it would pass the testing.
But i have had my phone for 2 years so im not going to argue.
I had a few queries and the staff were so lovely and helped me with what was needed. They even rang me back so i wouldn't have to wait on the phone to long.
The annoying thing is it takes 8 days for payment to reach my account. Got the email on the 27th and said it would reach my account March 6th.
If money would reach my account right away i would of given 5 stars.

USE MAZUMA, ENVIROFONE ARE A JOKE ! DON'T EXPECT FAST PAYMENT! THIS

I used Envirofone a few years ago and was fairly happy so after using Mazuma for my last ten or so transactions I thought I'd give Envirofone another go......BIG MISTAKE.

Even though royal mail have confirmed that my phone has been delivered, my account is still showing as not yet received. After speaking to Nicola G at Envirofone customer services I have now been told that the parcel is delivered to the nearest sorting office and can take one to five days to actually reach Envirofone. What a joke !

I am now reading horrendous reviews on lengthy payment processing.

I shall revert back to using Mazuma in the future, delivered straight to their door and payment in your bank account the same day. In this day and age, with all banks offering a faster payment service anything but same day payment is unaceptable !

I await my fate ! :-(

***** UPDATE*****

I have today been informed that my device has passed testing and that the funds will clear my account on the SEVENTH OF MARCH. This is SEVEN working days. How is this fast payment Envirofone ?

I have now found out that Envirofone use FUTURE DATED FASTER PAYMENTS, so in effect THEY hold on to your money as long as possible and they CHOOSE the date your funds are transferred.....

Good all Round Service - Don't expect payment instantly though.

I've used envirofone before and found it to be a good service, often then not offering more money for handsets than other competitors. Never had a problem when phone sent in, customer service or experience in general no sooner then received (usually next day) its passed testing.

Only reason for awarding 4 stars is payment seems much slower than my previous phone sale in that 8 days (6 working days) for the payment to clear. I am sure this was less than 3 last time.

Company Claims fast payment and as per them fast payment is 7 working days, which i feel is a joke. I have sent phones to other companies and no where i have see this thing happening. I would suggest make that think clear to your customers, do not write twisted terms and conditions. I will go back to my trusted companies who do not make fake or twisted promises

I sent my phone to this company after reading reviews and found they received my Iphone 4 they stated it was damaged how really not quite sure and phone has been in a protective gel since I have had it. My offer was hence reduced and halved by 50%. I was then given a option of accepting the payment or waiting 14 days for the return of my device so offer accepted and them informed that the payment would not reach my account until 27th of Feb. This is 8 working days for a BACS transfer, aware as working within financial sector a payment can be processed regardless of bank same day or up to 3 working days. I have complained and only ever received a pre-generated e-mail reply so this show the level of their customer service if reading this I would state to anyone to stay well away from the firm.

I won't be coming back

I have used Envirofone in the past and had no problems, i even recommended to friends and family. Unfortunately, this time i felt completely ripped off and deceived. I sent my iphone 4s off and was quoted £120 to then be offered £12.10 because it was faulty.

£12.10 for an iphone 4s? Are you kidding me? I look after all my phones, i use covers, screen protectors and at the end of all my contracts i know i will be able to sell them as they are still in perfect condition. The infuriating part of this was they said it was 'water damaged.' I have never so much as spilled a drop on my phone, it honestly feels like a massive rip off!

I have since posted my phone off to a rival company who tested it, verified it had no faults and paid me the full amount.

I can see the 'water damage' comment has been mentioned a lot by other customers on here so it's quite clear it's not just me

All mobiles have a marker/sensor inside the handset. If this sensor has changed colour it shows that the phone has been in contact with moisture. This can be caused by a number of things and the phone does not necessarily need to have been submerged in water. The phone may still work most of the time with this fault, but unfortunately it is technically classed as water damaged. Your phone also had a fault with the power button which is why the value was dropped so significantly.
