Awful place. New back to cycling at the start of 2013 and bought a Scott Foil 40 in size 54 from here, and had what I thought was a bike fit on picking up the bike. 6 Months later I got a coach and had a fit with him and he had to move the saddle so far forward it was on the max on the rails, so I then investigated why my seat post was a lay back and after contacting Scott they conformed all 54 frames and below should come with an inline post. I raised this with Chris Lines at Epic and he claimed the bike arrived with the lay back post from Scott, so re contacted Scott and they said no...all 54 frames and below are supplied with an inline post. I also contacted 2 other Scott dealers who confirmed what Scott had said. I then went back to Epic for them to resolve with an inline post and they said that Scott were basically lying, and to quote 'supply us with the same frames with lots of different size components all the time, some turn up with a 90 or 120 stem or 170 or 172 cranks on the same size frame'. Scott offered a goodwill gesture and sent a very tatty and used inline post, however, it is not Scott's issue it is with the shop Epic Cycles. Chris at Epic Cycles has refused to take accountability for the error and has refused to offer a resolution from the shop, so now I am stuck with an immaculate bike with a tatty seat post supplied from Scott. Cheekily he did offer to sell me a new in line seat post for 180 pounds, which is in effect him selling me what I am entitled to for free. is it legal for a bike shop to replace a component on a bike that has been sold without the customer's consent? Irrespective of who is to blame for the wrong seat post, it is the wrong seat post for that frame size on a bike bought from new which only came to light after a genuine bike fit and then my own investigation. Avoid this shop like the plague and don't trust them. Fully check the specification of any product you have bought from them, and if god forbid you are buying anything from them, make sure it is fully correct and to specification as if not, it appears they couldn't care less post sale.
I was looking to buy a new road bike, and stumbled across the Epic Cycles web site by accident during my research, and they had the bike I wanted at a very good price so I thought I'd give them a go. My email request was answered quickly and after a quick phone call I made an appointment to go over for a bike fitting which was free if purchasing a bike from them. So, over I went, and after a few hours of setting up, swapping stem lengths ( at no extra charge ) and swapping the saddle for a womens specific one, where I only had to pay the price difference between the current saddle and my new one, I went for a quick road test and left as a very happy customer with a nicely set up shiny new bike. I would definitely buy again from Epic Cycles!
