Have used three different products from Essential and had to claim on one of them I must say this was carried out with utmost efficiency so I have absolutely no qualms about using Essential for my insurance needs
Having been a policyholder of Essential Travel for several years (and a claimant on one occasion) I was extremely disappointed to find that my renewal premium had increased from £82 to £299 with no word of explanation. I have renewed but with dramatically reduced cover. I think the insurer's action demonstrated an unacceptable disregard for their policyholders.
On the positive side, I was pleased with the manner in which my claim was handled.
Once bought there's no details of what to do in an emergency, phone numbers on the summary, key acts etc.and can't find them on the website.
Website is very slow.
The travel insurance seems good (not had to claim yet!) but I can't understand why my policy didn't auto-renew when it expired. This meant I went abroad for a weekend without insurance (I thought I was covered) because I wasn't notified of the expiry until after it had happened. Also, the website is a little clunky. I am logged in, I buy my insurance and then I am asked to provide a password so it can set up an account, not really registering that I already have an account. And why don't returning customers get some sort of discount for renewing?
Have used your services for insurance & parking several times in the past & they have always been excellent.
This week just before our holiday starts on 21/10/13 my wife whilst on a routine visit to the doctors was told to go for an ECG.
We are waiting for the results of this ECG & decided to increase my wifes travel insurance but could not do this until late Saturday evening due to being away from home till then.
On opening my account, policy number 6201386 on line I found the policy cannot be amended.
The customer services number you issue is only available at restricted times & so there is no way I can extra cover for my wife at this time.
Surely this cannot be acceptable
I paid for Essential level (4 adults +2 kids ) 73.60£ on 17/11/2010 21:19:22 it was Travel Insurance Policy Number 5112698 - ... But now the same level cost me more then 90£ !!!-( after 2 years 50% more!! - ...so why not 100%- is no difference as well!)
--simple you lost another loyalty client.
On the market is lots different cheapest companies with similar condition as well dont forget.
I booked my holiday and car parking through essential travel, insurance was cheap car parking at Leeds Bradford dearer, but still cheaper than all the others. Parking at Leeds is dear ,so still would recommend ,many thanks.
Required for decompression and technical diving course down to 45m. Extra depth from 30m could be specifically added on whereas many diving insurances only cover to 30m. Bearing in mind that decompression illness (DCI) can occur for a multitude of reasons it is important to be fully insured to whatever depth you are diving to. So excellent that the policy actually lists the extra depth in there key facts.
Came across this company as one recommended for people at risk of anaphalaxis. Other companies would not cover him as he had been hospitalised within the previous two years. Although we had to pay a whopping medical cover premium, we could at least go on the holiday we had already booked. We have since had our holiday in Barcelona, which was wonderful, with no peanut related medical emergencies (with no thanks to BA, who thrust peanuts in his direction on all four flights there and back). I can only hope, if there had been one, that Essential Travel would have been equally efficient. They are now top of the list for travel insurance for our next trip, whenever that might be.
Clearly laid out guidelines made everything easy to understand. Price good but then I know that from previous trips with your firm. Thank god I haven't had to claim and I hope I never do. If that ever occurs then I hope my path will be just as smooth.
I booked travel insurance for my three daughters who were travellig abroad with their grandparents. Completed online in a matter of minutes with added protection to cover my daughters asthma and all at an affordable price.
Today I done a query through google looking for travel insurance for my two children aged 16 and 13 - I was pleasantly surprised at the price I got and booked it staright away accessing documents etc was very easy to do.
I tried several 'known' insurance companies and made lots of google searches to try to get travel insurance for my 5 year old grandson for when he is coming on holiday with us without his parents. For all my efforts this was the only company I could find that allowed an on line application and the order was dealt with in minutes. I won't say how much it cost for an 8 day European travel insurance for the 5 year old, other than to say it was way lower than my expectations. Superb company to deal with.
Quite a good company to dael with; pretty straight forward, but it is very irritating that when applying for a single journey you have to input everything again rather than just the facts of the journey and medical screening, even though you are registered.
You sometimes wonder if its worth bothering with insurance because you never think 'its' going to happen to you, but it is worth every penny. A fall during a walk back from the car resulted in a broken hip, a hospital stay in Italy with x-rays, CAT scan, bloods and an air ambulance back home! The cost of the single trip insurance for the two us was the best money I've spent in a long time.
To find out that the only way to claim is by using a premium rate line when you want to claim is sharp and shabby practice. The policy is meant to cover you when you have a loss, not be an additional revenue opportunity for you.
I am sure this review will not find its way onto the Essential Travel Web which is a pity. Customers should know in advance. Maybe it is in the small print somewhere but as you well know your web site has been down for weeks making that opportunity void.
Getting connected takes a while, but on e connected they handled my insurance renewal very efficiently .
Information for each option very well explained and seems good value for the cost but not happy with the payment menue. It states there is a charge for using a credit card but nothing noted of any charge being made for using a debit card, which I did, and was charged £1.33 and on my confirmation it says charge for credit card which it was not. Now I agree £1.33 is not an exorbitant amount but it is the principal of the matter. It should be clearly stated if a charge is going to be made for using a debit card as it does with a credit card. With my rant over, I would not hesitate to use this service again.
My flight was on Thursday Friday 5/09/2013 and I forgot my insurance cover for the trip. there was a problem that was soon resolved by Essential Travel Insurance within a few minutes on the Wednesday evening so efficiently and and the cost well within the budget allocated.
I was annoyed that I did not get a reminder that my insurance was about to run out and only discovered this when checking my documents just prior to going on holiday. The premium was considerably higher than last year but I had no time to search for a better deal. I have used Essential travel for some years and the premiums have been competitive up to now. I will definitely be looking for a better quote next time
Good insurance, although never had to claim so can't really comment. Second year running now i've had to phone up and get the necessary documents sent to me even though i had paid the postage to get them sent out. Quick phone call and dealt with swiftly.
Used this Company now three times and have never experienced any problems, I have recommended them to family and friends on many occasions, they have covered my existing medical conditions at a very reasonable cost, will use them again.
