Experian CreditExpert. (Expert???) I signed to this service last week. I could not obtain instant access so as an extra security measure the service sent me a PIN via Royal Mail to my address. This worked and I could access my report which showed two accounts and an address history of 8yrs (correct). I downloaded my report several times without problem. When I rang a few days later the rep thought it odd that my account didn't show my bank account so to 'help' me linked it together and screwed up the entire report. The next day I spent 30mins on a call going through it all to be told it would be updated overnight, it was not, I spent a further 42mins on the phone the next day going through the report to be told that all would be updated overnight, it was not. The next day I saw no report whatsoever. Two hours later and my account was cancelled by Experian and I was allowed no access to online records. The company said I could not access the information as they could not prove I was me but at the same time would send me a full printout of my report to me at the address I supplied as that was okay because they did know it was me. Everybody I spoke to was completely polite and pleasant but clearly did not know what they were doing. The cancellation was against Experian's published T&Cs but they do what they wish. Despite blocking my access they continue to make money selling my records online.
I went to do a £2 credit report, only to receive a website error that there was a problem BUT they had still taken payment.
Currently 10 emails later, I've yet to either get a refund, or my credit report. They're unable to check their own payments to see I was charged and instead want me to send them an entire copy of my bank statement (not sure I trust them to do so).
I used Equifax and had no such problems. My advice, use them over Experian.
Poor set up, can't cancel the policy online...Emailed to cancel and they don't accept that- have to call them. Annoying when companies make you call up and answer loads of questions before they can cancel the policy.
I had an account with them in the past and it was very easy to re-open one again with them. Got my credit score from 'Fair' to 'Good' in just a couple of months,
Whenever i've had to phone customer services they've been very helpful.
I was worried when getting an account with them that it would be really difficult to cancel, but actually i just had to call a number and the chap on the other end of the phone was very helpful and closed the account for me. They did have to ask a bunch of questions from their script about why you're cancelling, but cant blame them for that really.
