Dare I say it 'typical' cycle shop response. I,ve been buying online and via the post for 30 years now, and the response I,ve got most of the time has left me exasperated. There are only 2 cycle shops in this country where you are guaranteed getting the goods you ordered within a reasonable timeline - [external reference] and [external reference].
I ordered from this company 10 days before hand ,an item required for a race ,and I still havn,t received it. The courier they use ,well, its a bloke in a van and he covers about a 200 mile square area, so miss him, and you are faced with a 60 mile return trip to the 'depot' (some lock-up in Ipswich). What a service, basically ,I,ve got to spend a week sitting by the door waiting for him to come - I,m sure my boss will understand!
Don,t waste your time ,the service is non-existent, they not cheap ,and generally its not worth the hassle, we,ve all got lives , I don,t see why I should run around organising my life around a company who I HAVE paid for a service from.
Looking for a replacement cycle helmet, and these guys came up with the best price for the one I was looking for. Placed the order, and received the product really fast. Fantastic service.
Excellent communication, by phoning and letting me know when the bike was to be dispatched and if there would be someone in to receive the bike. A nice touch was also finding sachets of energy drinks free of charge, just like the delivery charge. I would definitely recommend anyone to look at Fatbirds when buying a new bike in the future.
After placing an order online for a product that was "in stock", I received no communications for 5 days, and then, when I phoned them, got told it was being checked into the warehouse and should be with me in 3 workings days. The next working day, I got an email telling me the item was out of stock, and also out of stock at the supplier. Someone was clearly lying to me.
I've asked for a refund, so I'll wait and see how quickly that gets processed.
I had the choice of ordering the Ti Lynskey Sportive frame from a number of different online stores but chose Fatbirds due to the information available, description and price.
I received a great frameset deal which was delivered in good timing. I also like the text message you recieve informing you when the frame will be delivered,

Really pleased with my first transaction with Fat Birds. I usually buy from Chain Reaction Cycles but Fat Birds had what I was looking for at a significantly lower price. I had to add products to make up the £50 threshold for free delivery but there is a lot of stuff to choose from on their site/shop.
The delivery took a week to arrive and I'd not been notified that it had been dispatched (a nice feature of CRC) but the delivery was packaged sensibly and I was really pleased with all the items I'd purchased (helmet, rear LED light, puncture repair kit).
I'd definitely recommend them.
I placed the order, on Monday 19th Aug (items listed on the website as in stock), and payment was taken at the same time. Received this request for feedback a week later on Monday 26th, but the goods still hadn't arrived. Phoned on Tuesday 27th Aug (8 days after placing the order and making payment) to discover that, not only has my order not been sent out, but Fatbirds don't even have the items in stock. They'll apparently dispatch them to me when they arrive from the wholesaler. So 1 star feedback for:
1. Showing the item as being in stock when it clearly wasn't
2. Taking my money regardless
3. Not contacting me to tell me about the delay
Everything went well with this purchase, the price was very competitive and the delivery was very speedy. The only comment i would make is that the company could do with sending an email to say that the item was dispatched with an idea of delivery. After acknowledgement of my order, the next contact was actual delivery of the item. I was concerned that i'd not received an idea of delivery, so i sent an email requesting information. The item arrived within 30 minutes of sending the email!

I am very pleased with my purchase of a Magenta Bell helmet. My daughter is really delighted with it and it arrived in time for her birthday, which I was so relieved about as I left it quite late with my order. The helmet is fantastic, great quality and value. Can't fault the service at all, really pleased and would definitely buy from again.
Most of the prices are the best I could find on the web. Quick delivery and easy PayPal checkout.
Only thing that I found really annoying was half the stuff I wanted was out of stock. Would have purchased more fatbirds.

The carrier employed by this company put a card through my letter box saying they tried to deliver but I was at home at the time and they didn't even ring the bell. I contacted Fatbirds to complain about this and ask them to make sure their carrier delivered the next day but they ignored this email. The following morning I got a text from the carrier to say that the delivery had been further delayed so I emailed Fatbirds again, cancelling the order. Half an hour later the order arrived!
Neither email was answered but about a week later I got a phone call from Fatbirds customer relations asking about the delivery. The phone call broke up in mid call and was never followed up.
Order from somebody else!
This week I placed my 1st order with Fatbirds and what a great experience. My email queries were answered promptly and they were very willing to oblige with my delivery request. I placed my order Monday night and my new wheels (Kinesis Crosslight CX Disc) were delivered just after noon on Friday as arranged. The wheels are so good and the fact they were on sale as well made the deal even more sweeter. I will 100% be using these guys again.
Found this site by searching for a particular saddle for my bike, I was curious about the name, an amazed at the range of goods available. I think they can give CRC a run for their money.
Ordering was quick and easy and transaction was straight forward.

Having lost a treasured bike to a young car driver's inability to control his vehicle, I looked to Fatbirds for a replacement. My goal was simple... I wanted a stunning bike. Quality had to come first, so a Van Nicholas Chinook Track frame and fork was chosen to start the build. From the very first contact with the shop, Retail Manager Craig took care of me and my bike build. I've lost count of how many emails we exchanged, but while my frame was on order, we used the time to exactly specify the bike I wanted to ride and own for many years. Although the frame delivery ran a little later than scheduled from the factory, every other component was delivered on time and exactly as ordered. The pricing was very competitive and finished bike has exceeded my very high expectations. Would I recommend Fatbirds? Definitely! The Fatbirds Team did a fantastic job from start to finish. Fast, friendly and fun too.

Was after a tricky to find headset. Not only were Fatbirds one of the few places that had it, they were cheapest. Wasn't free postage, but a reasonable charge and very quick delivery. Ordered Saturday PM, delivered to Orkney Tuesday PM.
Will use again and recommend.
It was great to get a good deal on a helmet that my 10 year old son chose for his birthday. On top of that an excellent delivery option meaning it would arrive in time. Very didsapointed to have ordered on the 8th with express 48 hour option and to only receive it last thing today ... the 13th. So it meant a couple of waisted days waiting in for the delivery combined with a very upset boy who could understand why it is called Express 48 hour delivery. Neither do I.
Poor delivery service is enough for me to order with a competitor next time.
I purchased a titanium frame and a set of carbon forks with a value of 1500-pound. The frame was advertised on Fatbirds website with a free headset. When the frame & fork arrived the headset was missing. I phoned explaining the situation and was dealt with in a polite & positive manner, but the sales person said the free headset was an error on their website and the offer will be removed. It is still on the website as a current offer, by the way. He informed me that as a good will gesture he would honour the offer and forward a headset. He even phoned me back and informed me when it would arrive. Unfortunately when it arrived it was the wrong type which was of no use for the frame & fork combination that I have purchased. Again I phoned Fatbirds explaining the situation and spoke to a gentleman called [name] or [name], I think. He initially informed me that a free headset is just that, even though I explained it was of no use for the combination of frame and forks I purchased. He later said he would look into the matter and get back to me. Four days after this conversation still no phone call to explain whats happening, no compatible headset has arrived, and I am looking at a lovely titanium and carbon white elephant which is of no use in it"s current state. I have actually sourced a headset Myself and purchased from another supplier, as I am not only tied of waiting for the promised telephone call, but I have lost all confidence in The Fatbirds outlet.
Such a pity really because I will be after a titanium road bike in the not to distant future, and for the price of a phone call to keep me informed of the situation, I would of bought from Fatbirds. My first and last purchase from this outlet.
