Cheaper than the rest but disappointing website layout!
I tried to book a car and a trailer on to a specific ferry in July which I found incredibly difficult when you are told sorry no availability and then not proceed to give the times there is a ferry available. Most frustrating because I then had to enter all the details of all the passengers over again. I got desperate and had to ring the company but to their credit the woman was able to contact the ferry company who was able to jiggle things about with the bookings (and cars on the ferry I believe) which then allowed us to get a space on the ferry we wanted.
Relief........as we had our holiday booked and had to travel that morning.
And they were cheaper too.....every little helps!

Simple useful site.
I like this site. It was easy to find and compare different crossings and prices, which I wanted to do, and it was easy to book the tickets.

Too slow and not transparent
This site took ages to produce a search and when you went to book it was frustrating, you could not see how much the seating was in addition until it was selected, and then only when you went to pay.At this stage it was not possible to delete the seating extra's without coming out of the site and starting all over again.Why cannot these costs be flagged up front? This is exactly the sort of problems that prevents me revisiting the site.

Very user-friendly site. Booking was easy and quick. Wish the trains were as easy.
I have been doing a lot of online booking for our European holiday and met quite a few problems, particularly with railway sites.
Ferry online is accessible, clear and concise and appreciated by us older folk who are not intuitive when it comes to computer work.

G'day,
My experience booking my ferry online crossing was the easiest transaction I have purchased in a long time. Timely response of registration number for my next day trip. I would recommend this process for booking ferry crossings from Dover to Calais to everyone.

Rip of Britain if you need to take your pets on holiday.
I think the cost to take the dog, in my car, in my boot is actually outrages. If she was able to walk around I could appreciate the cost. It doesn't take 2 minutes to check the dog's details.

Santander to Plymouth
We costed out the travel costs including driving through France, tolls, overnight stays, ferry costs and it worked out the same as just driving from Albox to Santander - cutting out the drive through France.
Once this decision was made we went into this website and it was totally straight forward, it was booked in seconds, to be honest much quicker than booking a flight with some airlines !

better go direct
The cost was the same as going direct to Brittany ferries but if you yneed to alter anything you need to ring them. they only work weekday and then you pay both ferry charge and theirs so your worse. off.

Having booked with you for our Calais to Dover route, I wanted the same easy experience to book on Scanlines Ferry from Denmark to Germany - but alas your website did not carry this route! Hope you extend to this service soon!

read the small print and don't get a problem on a bank holiday!
When my car broke down on a weekend break , I could not contact them, bank holiday! when I did get a nice young man called Stewart to listen to my problems, he said no Problem Just get the ferry when your car is repaired and pay £10 altered booking fee , but when I got there the only way to get the ferry home was to pay as much for the ticket home as I had paid for the whole trip !! held to ransome at the dock thank you Stewart! I am sorry to read of the problems you had with your vehicle. However there are no members of staff here called Stewart. I presume you contacted MyFerryLink your ferry operator direct who may have given you this information. There is indeed a £10 amendment fee for their bookings but they certainly did not advice you correctly it seems, as you would be charged the additional cost of the turn up rate for your fare in addition to the amendment fee.
If you had taken out European Breakdown cover I would suggest you contact your insurers and make a claim.

Reasonably easy web site to book ferry tickets
I've been using another site to purchase my tickets but a glitch in their system send me looking for an alternative and I found Ferryonline. Worked ok but I'm looking for a site that remembers me so I don't have to fill in all my details everytime. Don't know if these guys have that facility but will use them again and find out.

everything excellent except payment
Two years ago the same problem - we booked our channel crossing, trying to pay online by credit / debit card. None of our cards were accepted! Neither Visas, nor Masters. The same cards used for payment English Heritage pass, National Trust pass, only Ferryonline rejected them. Next day we cleared it by phone, payment was done from UK (using the same card!), all OK.
What is the problem at all? You are asked to betray all the card numbers including the security code to the operator by phone - extremely dangerous action! Otherwise you can cross the channel in dinghy.
I am currious why the ferryonline cannot solve the payment procedure so long?

Thank you for your comments. Regarding credit or debit card processes - we require the additional 3d secure password before a purchase can be completed online. This is additional security required for purchases made over the internet, that we and many major online retailers have embraced. It protects you, incase of a lost card - it would not be able to be used on our website and it is also a safeguard for retailers.
If your card is a visa it is the Verified by Visa protocol and Secure by MasterCard if a MasterCard. We would suggest you visit the website of your card issuer and set this up.
Of course we apologise if this has inconvenienced you but hope you can appreciate the needs to implement this new security provided by your card issuer.

really a shame you can't log in and keep your details in the system
title says everything... Website is OK, often cheaper than other websites, however it is really annoying that you have to enter the details of all family members EACH time you buy tickets....

Wonderful service. Easy to book online. Once booked online had to telephone to confirm details of our pet but call handled by very competent person who was precise and quickly added the additional cost and gave very helpful information about the port procedure. Good value ferry prices
Website was easy to use, and found a really good value return trip from Calais to Dunkirk.
However, a bit more guidance / directions to which port the ferry would return from Dunkirk would have been useful as there are many motorway exits listing different numbered ports as you head towards Dunkirk (motorway exit number a minimum)

Not completely sold!
I was a bit disgusted with your web site in the fact once the payment was made, I could not alter the booking with making a long distaff international call. As soon as I hit the "submit" button, I realized that I entered the wrong date by a day. I wrote to you by email, but only to find that I still needed to make the international call - which I did - twice in fact, only to realize your office was closed on that Monday, for a holiday.

Amended Ferry booking promptly for a reasonable Admin charge.
Having inadvertantly booked a flight on the same date as an intended ferry crossing, the ferry crossing date and time were altered following an email request from me whilst in Greece. Given the problems that one often has amending bookings, I was very impressed with the speed at which this was done.
