I had 3 parcels under the 'Prime' service with Amazon and for some reason this week they are all coming via HDNL. They were due to be delivered on Monday and according to the Amazon website (which I can only assume comes from information that HDNL supply them) my parcels were delivered at 1109 03 Dec! However on checking the HDNL website they went out for delivery on 04 Dec was then returned and went back out again on the 05 Dec and no more information after that. I contacted amazon who said that looking through the records that it says there was no access to the property! I am on a Military Base that has 24hr manning at the main guard room, this company has delivered (slowly) to the address in the past (unfortunately the OU use them too) and they are aware they should arrive before 5pm for the main post room and carry identification just like all the other delivery companies that have no problems with delivering packages.
I even called them once to hold a package so that I could collect it myself which they assured me they had put aside when I got to the depot (it’s a 40 minute drive away) the parcel was nowhere to be seen and so they called the driver who said he had just delivered it to me and updated there system saying it was signed for by me which was a lie as I was stood in the depot!
Do not use them, on many occasions they have 'delivered' my items yet i have not received them. One even stated 'Delivered - left on porch' - i don't even have a porch and surprise surprise i never got my item. I have no idea why Amazon use them!
They are either thieves or imbeciles perhaps both who knows. All i know is DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR DELIVERIES unless not receiving your order is what you are after!
I have been let down once again by HDNL delivery service who pretend that they have attempted a delivery and left a card but I can prove now on two different occasions thet they make up different stories to cover up that they are not capable of delivering items when they say they will. Last time I was told a card had been left when they attempted a delivery but on asking the driver the next day he told me that he had returned to the depot because of a mechanical problem with the van. Yesterday I was told that a card had been left at my address at mid day, totally made up, and today they promised delivery but I have been in all day and still nothing. Amazon must do something about this very very poor service, It does not look good on them!!
DONT EVEN DESERVE THE 1 STAR!
I waited in alllllllllllllll day!
I went online to track order this is what it said.

NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!
I can't believe Amazon are still using these last minute.com ametuers. Once I ordered a TV and it went 'missing'. After a while Amazon had to just take charge and send out another one express delivery free of charge.
Recently I ordered some clothes and it had a tracking number. I clicked on it after a day or so and nothing there. Tried every day for a few more days and at last I get a response. To my horror it's HDNL and they have only just got around to processing the order. Usually despite having selected free delivery most other parcel services beat the estimated delivery dates by a few days because they are well organised and offer a good customer service. HDNL/YODEL on the other hand are content to to just either get the delivery to you on the exact day Amazon has estimated or worse afterwards because they can argue delivery times are just estimates and they are legally entitled to be late by a few more days. To me that's just rubbish service.
I can only assume the reason behind Amazon using them is because Yodel must have offered Amazon a stupidly cheap deal that none of the other superior services can match and probably contracted to do so for a set number of years at the least. I just hope one day Amazon comes to their senses and stops using them for good.
Ordered some books via Amazon - they should have been delivered on the 9th Nov - waited in all day, called Amazon - they said HDNL tried to deliver them at 09:00, well is was in No Card was left.
Called Amazon as without a Card Number I couldn't speak to HDNL, they arranged to the books to be delivered on Saturday and if I was out for them to be left in the porch.
Arrived home, checked on the Amazon web site, they were delivered to a neighbours house 5minutes before, no house number quoted no Card left at my address.
Called Amazon, they said they were left at house number 37 - however there is not a 37 on my street !
Called Amazon back, they could not get hold of HDNL as they had gone home at 13:00
This if the 5th time we have had problems with HDNL - Will Never be using both companies again
I ordered some boots from office, they were to be delivered within 5-7 days. The parcel was delivered quite quickly however it was left on the doorstep. Someone was in the house when they said the package had arrived on the website, however never heard a knock on the door and there was no postcard put through the door to say that the package had been put in a safe place and as we don't use our front door very much i found the package the next morning, thank god it hadn't been stolen as those were an expensive pair of shoes!!!!! But at least they turned up, read all the horror stories on here of HDNL lying about it being delivered when it was sitting in some warehouse somewhere.
HDNL take the crown of being useless. The parcel was supposed to be delivered to a company located on an industrial estate. Now, granted, these units on industrial estates can sometimes be difficult to find but it really doesn't take much to look for the big sign above a door screaming "[company name] here I am". Or how about asking one of the many members of the public/other tradesmen that work on the industrial estate. If this was a regular occurence with other delivery companies then I would cut them some slack but seriously.... The first day HDNL tracking states that delivery was attempted and a card was left, WRONG. No delivery was attempted, at least not to the address it should have been. On the second day HDNL tracking states that the company has moved, WRONG. So what can I do as the helpless customer waiting for a very important and expensive parcel that was paid for next day delivery? I phone the customer services contact centre for some help. How can they help me? Arrange for the parcel to be delivered to the same address the next day and leave a message for the delivery driver. All this at the cost of 10 pence per minute. AAAAGGGGHHHHHH. If the numbskull couldn't find the place two days in a row then what makes them think he will find it on the third day? The funniest thing is, this address is really not difficult to find, absolutely no one else has struggled to find us. Every other delivery company (and we get a lot of deliveries) has managed to find us no problem so what kind of idiots are HDNL employing and will I ever get my parcel??
I ordered an expensive car stereo unit on the Saturday from Amazon, for Monday delivery, nothing arrived for 2 days. I contacted Amazon who sent out another unit, also next day delivery, and that didn't turn up either. It's now been a week and HDNL/Yodel have no record of the packages and seem to have put fake tracking information. I assume the drivers stole both packages. This has happened SO much with HDNL. It took them a week to deliver a camera memory card to me, from their Gatwick Depot, about 25 minutes from me. F*cking terrible.
Worst Courier IMO, I ordered 2 PC components from Amazon one first class the other free delivery. At first 4 days had past and still nothing I was annoyed and assumed they had sent them together in which if this was the case I'd want a refund on the first class payment. 1 week past and still nothing. I decided to use the tracking and the only updates on the tracker were telling me that the day after I ordered it They received it into the Sandwell depot and then saying it was despatched later that day. that was 6 days ago. I decided to give them a call. I didn't want to at first because of the steep call price but decided it was worth it. After waiting 10 minutes on the phone so paying £1 I was finally put through I gave them my tracking number and was put on hold for about 2 minutes when I hear "The Other person has cleared" At this point I was incredibly angry. I'd just payed £1.20 wasted 12 minutes of my time to get no where. I reluctantly rang them again. After 3 minutes on the phone I got put through and gave them my tracking number. The assistant then replied."Umm, It doesn't look good. It seems like the parcel has been lost." At this point I had had enough. He said to give him until the end of the week to track it down and he then said If they found nothing they would contact Amazon to see about a refund/replacement. It came Saturday. I had received no word from Amazon. I rang Amazon and they told me they had heard nothing from HDNL. Fuming, I asked Amazon to contact them. After Amazon getting back to me they told me HDNL would try to track it down and reply the NEXT Friday. At this point I cancelled the order. I got a refund from Amazon and Ordered it again both first class. The next day it was delivered by Royal Mail I was so pleased. IF YOU FIND OUT YOUR ITEM IS BEING DELIVERED BY HDNL/YODEL CANCEL AND REORDER!
I would advise anyone to steer clear of HDNL if at all possible. I buy lots of things from Amazon and most times the parcels are dumped outside the communal entrance of the sheltered accomodation i live in. Usually a neighbour will spot it and bring the parcel to me. There is a keypad by the door to tap in the address and enter the building, but some of these couriers are either to bone idle or thick to do a proper job. Other couriers and royal mail are great so no complaints there.
Okay so the buyer lived in Scotland and he wanted to send the TV back. No problem I said. So I sent the buyer instructions to return the item. It's pretty straight forward, a six year old could follow it. He sent it off and I began tracking it from then on. Then Parcel was held up at the HDNL Glasgow depot from Friday. It was still there over the weekend into the following week. After calling the assistant on the phone at YODEL/HDNL at the Glasgow depot, she said I have to contact CollectPlus. SIGH
I contacted CollectPlus and told them about the hold up and after I gave her an ear full, she finally got it to move from Glasgow to Sandwell depot. Phew. The parcel was out for delivery and was due to be at my door, only when I checked the tracking notice, it said it got delivered. HUH? To whom I thought? I haven't received anything. I've read bad reviews about YODEL/HDNL before hand, and I began to panic. I called CollectPlus and told them I didn't receive any item at my door from HDNL. She told me it was delivered to someone buy the name of ''Gale''. Well whose this ''Gale'' I asked? She said she'll check with the driver at the depot to see where he had delivered it to and will notify me of any updates by phone.
The next day came and all through out the day they hadn't replied. So I then had to make a phone call at my own expense. She told me the depot informed them the driver who delivered the parcel was off sick, but they'll notify me of any updates when the driver returns to work at the depot. So the next day came and again I had to make the call and waited another 10 minutes on the phone. She said they still haven't had anything new because the driver was still off sick. Suspicious.
I then replied ''will you definitely know who the driver is?'' She replied ''Oh yes, they will definitely know, because of time logs.'' I told her then to call me back on my phone if you have anything new. The weekend came and YET AGAIN I had to make the call and they had no new updates for me except to tell me the driver was STILL off sick. Okay. I then threatened to involve the Police.
My back was against the wall. Too much time was being wasted and the process was moving VERY SLOWLY. The male assistant at CollectPlus told me I should make a claim. I filled out the claims form and sent it in PDF format via email. The following week and again I had to make the call, and waited 7 minutes to talk to someone.
I wanted to check the status of my claim and he told me its still being processed. Okay, so I then asked him if he knows the where about of my parcel? He said "the driver still has not turned up at work which is a cause for concern'' and added ''so I'd follow through with the claim because you most likely never see it again.'' Two weeks later, I finally got a response in the form of a cheque sent to me to the sum of £106 pounds. I never had to refund a buyer on Amazon before and if I was fully aware of the partial refund feature on Amazon, I would have paid the full amount (£10/£200 cover) for the return of my TV. This whole experience has left me feeling very angry with myself.
I am normally a very curious person and totally I disregarded the shear amount of bad reviews on here, on Google and other review sites regarding YODEL aka HDNL. Evidence that HDNL/Home Delivery Network AKA YODEL deliver a bad service was all to see. All in all I lost £40 paying for the shipping and returns. £106 in refunds from Collect Plus doesn't total up to the complete value of the item plus delivery (£146.18). Verdict - CollectPlus = EPIC FAIL.
CollectPlus were very slow with dealing with my case - when you finally get to talk to someone at their office after an average waiting time of 10 minutes on the phone queues. Listening to the most annoying music going around in a continuous loop. I felt I had to galvanize them to DO something with investigating the whereabouts of my TV. Please, if you have any common sense at all (of which I was seriously LACKING OF at the time), you'll avoid Collect Plus and HDNL/Home Delivery Network AKA YODEL, because you only get what you pay for.
I placed an order on amazon.co.uk on the 23rd of August, as i write this it is the 29th! Contacted amazon yesterday who told the company to send out the item today (29th) as it had not arrived. I checked the item status at 6pm today and it said UNDELIVERABLE!! I had not been emailed, phoned and a note had not been left at my door. Also i had been in the whole day! I rang amazon who told me that the item had been damaged. This was the second time i had tried to get this item delivered, unbelievable and atrocious i though. I and many others deserve to be compensated for this atrocity! How any company could work like this shocks me!! And why do a good, reputable company like amazon use them?? No wonder watchdog investigated, but it seems they still haven't changed! I felt so strongly i felt i just had to write a review!! 1 Star makes them look good!! DO NOT USE!!! You have been warned!
Here's the tracking info from Amazon:

Only problem - it wasn't delivered!
No delivery or attempted delivery - we were at home all day. someone's not being truthful, are they?
Amazon now have to send out a replacement.
This is the second time in as many weeks that HDNL have failed miserably yo deliver to me on time . I pay for Amazon prime which guarantees next day delivery - I shudder when I see its coming via HDNL - total pants!
I ordered a package from Amazon. I got it today.
03/08/2012 20:46:00 DROITWICH The parcel has been sorted at our hub
04/08/2012 03:25:00 STOKE DEPOT The parcel has been received into depot
04/08/2012 05:52:00 STOKE VAN The parcel has been loaded on to the drivers van
04/08/2012 09:32:00 Yes! I got the package.
I think those haven't had any problems, are not posting their experience.
Anyway, the service is Awesome.
Never before have I come across such an inept organisation... The tracking information for my goods - which have still not turned up - is a complete joke and utterly meaningless. For 2 days there was 'no access to property', the parcel was then 'delivered to customer' on 2 consecutive days, then loaded onto the van again only to be returned to the depot as 'no access to property' yet again. Customer Services cannot / will not discuss the matter with me and what's more I am charged a lot of money for a wasted phone call. Clearly HDNL have no desire or intention of delivering parcels and should be avoided at all cost...
The parcel was suppose to be delivered today, I've been waiting in the house all day, nothing... I've just checked the Amazon and HDNL websides to see the progress of the parcel - on both of them it says that it was delivered 5 hours ago- surely not to me!!!!!!!!!! Where is my parcel???!!!!
I swear I'd never buy a thing from a company who used these IDIOTS for their delivery.
As normal parcel from amazon has not turned up - not even attempted this time which is better than the normal lie of we tried.Amazon really need to change before most of there customer change - shame as everything else is really good with amazon
worst delivery company i have ever had the misfortune to deal with, ordered my parcel on the friday and thought i would order next day delivery so it would arrive saturday but nooo they claim a delivery was attempted but i was not in even though i was in the entire day bored stiff because i had to wait for this stupid parcel, then they said i could have the item monday so i demanded my shipping cost to be refunded and thanks to amazon they did that. if my order does not arrive today then i will be cancelling it and amazon will never receive my business again until they ditch hdnl
I made an order from JJB on 3rd July, paid extra for 24 hour delivery. Items that were required for a childrens part on 7th July had not arrived the next day, nor the following day. So Friday July 6th at 3pm I call them to be told the drive forgot to put themon the van - no apology etc. I asked if I could collect them as I needed them for the next day to be told I couldnt, they woulkd be delivered on Monday. Told him Monday was no good to me. It fell on deaf ears. I had to explain to 15 dissapointed children that they could not have their gift but would get it as soon as possible. Here we go again, Monday came and went with no delivery, I left it until Tuesday 10th - at 5pm still no balls, This time the person I spoke to actually apologised but still could offer no explanation. The balls finally arrived on 11th July at 1705 - over 7 days after the order was placed. The poor delivery drive was asked why the delay. His response was that he had been on holiday and the other drivers could not be bothered to do is run.!!!!!! absoulutely awful company. I will not be ordering from any company that uses them!
Giving them 1 star is 1 star too many! Got next day delivery, check the tracker when I get home to see it was delivered and left in a secure location at 11:15. Someone was in all day and no attempt at delivery was made. I ring them and end up having to wait a week while they go through interviewing the driver and trying to shift their arse into gear!
Dont think I would have even got my package if it wasn't for Amazon butting in

HDNL must be the worst delivery company on earth! Run by imcompetent's who don't care. After wasting a whole day staying in waiting for a package, nothing arrived, despite it saying "in-transit" on their website. I only live 2 miles from the depot, what can take them so long? Did they gaffer tape it to a tortoise?
When will Amazon realise that as delivery companies go HDNL and Yodel (they're the same company btw) are the worst in the world and put people off buying stuff on Amazon? Frankly, with this level of service, I'm surprised they're still in business. They deserve to go bust and for all their lazy good for nothing drivers and staff to lose their jobs! If I could've given them no stars I would've.
on Saturday morning i received a text from republic, stating the delivery is due that day between 12pm-8pm. so had to wait, also wasting all the time which i was going to use to do something else, for no one to show up at my door!!!! looked at the tracking... shows the parcel left at 8.... then went back to the depot at 4... now... it was due between 12 and 8 and they gave up a 4... what a quality service!!!

I recently ordered some items from JJB Sports, but getting my items was a complete nightmare. A week after I placed my order I got an email on a Sunday night saying that HDNL would deliver my parcel by Monday between 12-8pm. So I waited in Monday. No parcel. The tracking service said it returned to the depot at 6.30pm. So I attempted to reschedule delivery online and waited in Tuesday. Still no parcel. I tried several times to contact HDNL and was left on indefinate automated hold on a premium rate number. Finding and using their contact information is so unnecessarily difficult. Wednesday, my parcel sat in the depot. Thursday, the tracking service suggested my parcel went for a ride in the van without reaching my house. I finally received it on Friday, after a week of frustrated waiting and rearranged working hours...and was given an excuse that they'd tried to deliver it on Monday to the wrong house. The experience was so bad that I will actively avoid companies that use Yodel/HDNL from now on.
We've had several Amazon deliveries now that never arrived because of HDNL. If Amazon doesn't soon cancel their partnership with them my days shopping there are over. Not only are they incompetent beyond belief, they also lie, both when it comes to 'We tried to deliver' (more than once I have been in all day - no delivery - no note - nothing), and when you then speak to their customer "service"
Utterly useless. Avoid at all costs.
I'd give the ZERO stars if it were an option.
I've ordered recently 3 large items from Amazon on 24 hour delivery using HDNL. All 3 items have arrived the next day before lunch time. One item was sent to my flat which is on a brand new estate and I normally always have to give the courier directions when they get onto the estate. However the HDNL driver found the flat no problem and even came to the front door of the flat instead of ringing the buzzer outside. The last item I had delivered was to my parents house just outside of Cambridge. It's on the high street and not that easy to find being that the houses arn't numbered. Again, the driver came at 11am with no problems. Looking at all the bad reviews maybe it's certain depots which are causing a majority of the problems. I can say that I have never had a problem with orders coming from their Ipswich or Hitchin depots. I've always received a good service from HDNL and hopefully it will stay that way as I buy a lot of bulky items from Amazon.
There should be laws or regulations that monitor such incompetent and fraudulent practices perpetuated by this stupid company. Its been 5 days now and I still haven't gotten my next day delivery package. The same message has been on the tracker for four days. I called their office and was told they would send an email to the depot and that they didn't have a number to that depot? Mental I tell you
6 weeks ago i ordered my wedding dress off ebay for our wedding on 11th june this year.i was told 4 weeks for delivery.when it did not arrive on the date we were given my fiance contacted the seller and was told that it would arrive by april 15th which is a sunday so not likely!we then recieved an email a week later with a tracking number and told it had been shipped.it has now finally reached liverpool but i have found out the courier company is hdnl.slightly worried about this as reviews of this company have been dreadful.i also heard that they have been taken over by yodel here in belfast????im not sure about this but it is slightly comforting as i am an avon rep and have yet to have a bad experience with yodel.can anyone tell me if this is true?have tried contacting them but so far i have gotten nowhere.
I was asked by my daughter to sit in her flat and wait for a delivery from your company. The tracking reference was 8410207460641 and according to the log it was loaded on to the van in Bristol at 10:33 today 12/4/12 and by 19:22 it was back in the Bristol depot with no apparent attempt to deliver the parcel. This means it was on the van for almost 9hrs and there is no reason why it was returned to the depot undelivered. This follows on from the fact it should have been delivered on the 11/4/12 but sat in the Bristol depot all day. Your web site gives the impression that you are a firm which is forward thinking in deliverys to customers but I would not agree
I ordered a DVD with Amazon Prime with a 1 day guaranteed delivery. I didn't get the parcel but on their tracking system the package is marked as delivered?!?!? Where? Because it wasn't delivered to me. Amazon WHY OH WHY YOU HAVE TO USE THEM??? I have cancelled my Prime membership, what a load of rubbish.
Ordered some DVD's from Amazon for next day delivery on Fri 30th April. Home Delivery Network website shows them checked in at 22:30 that evening. Nothing since - it's now 3pm Weds 4th.
Called their 10p per min 'helpline' - told that there is a problem. Would not give me a date when I can expect to receive the items.
Completely rubbish company. I can't understand why Amazon would use such cowboys. I won't be buying from Amazon again till they get rid.
