I had made many international payments over the last 7 years through my bank, knowing it was expensive but secure. I had seen & heard of HiFx & similar companies but was sceptical about the security. Earlier this year I" bit the bullet" & all my fears were allayed as it was so easy. I have made two more payments since. It is simple and I know I'm getting the best exchange rates.
I have now made two international transfers (GBP-AUD) using HiFX. Both transfers were for the same amount and one month apart. It was easy to sign up and the first transfer went very well. I got a rate only a cent or two below that advertised for the currencies by the simple converter available on the HiFX entry page. On the second transfer I noticed that the rate I was quoted for the transfer came out 4-5 cents lower than that shown on the entry page. My wife also has a HiFX account, as yet unused. When she and I logged on to our accounts simultaneously the rate she was quoted was consistently and considerably better than that quoted to me. I emailed HiFX to ask why this was occurring and was called back the next day. The person I spoke to made all sorts of excuses about the market rate and live updates and all the obvious avoidance bluster. When I wasn't satisfied with that as an answer she ended the conversation rather brusquely. This made an already unhappy customer even more annoyed.
I have also been rather suspicious of the intentions of HiFX when pushing their monthly salary purchase tool (where they buy the currency in bulk at a specific point in time and then sell it back to you month by month). Although this seems like a great facility, the operator I spoke to was suspiciously pushy and tried to encourage me to sign up there and then, claiming the exchange was very favourable for me. The exchange has subsequently improved considerably which I do not blame the operator for not foreseeing. However, the improvement was widely predicted and she made no reference to the fact that she had tried to persuade me to sign up at a far lower exchange rate. Over time I went from feeling as if HiFX were providing me with a valuable service to getting the distinct feeling I was being subjected to a sales pitch.
After completing just two transfers I am now exploring other options before I decide whether to continue with HiFX.

Is it me or do you fail to address any of my comments? Your reply feels very much like a stock response to a skim read of my review. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my first attempt. My perceived failings of the HiFX system were:

Mark, you fail to address this issue adequately. The only explanation I can come up with myself is that first time transfers receive a better deal or that my wife is somehow on some form of preferable 'Premium' membership.
2. "When I wasn't satisfied with that as an answer she ended the conversation rather brusquely. This made an already unhappy customer even more annoyed." That is polite English for, 'she hung up on me'. Mark, you manage to ignore this very proficiently.
3. "However, the improvement was widely predicted and she made no reference to the fact that she had tried to persuade me to sign up at a far lower exchange rate." Mark, this wasn't really an issue but I was not wanting you to provide me with a stock description of the Regular Payments Service.
Had no problems sending my money every page was easy to follow and fill in and reply to say it had been sent was very good. Would use any time to send money and recommend.

It is so straight forward, I always use HIFX to transfer funds to my Spanish Bank account. I can do it from home, the rates are fair and it is so much less hassle than using a high street bank.
I first used them 2 years ago and they just made money transferring so easy. Since then I have used them again and again, and any queries are just sorted, done!!
They always take the time, even after the transfer is done, to make sure everything is to you're satisfaction.

Hifx is the simplest and most convenient method I have found for transferring currency abroad. The website is easy to use, all rates and charges are clearly laid out. You know exactly what you will get for your money and when the money will be sent. If I make payment early enough in the day the money is often in my foreign account by the same afternoon!
The payment is made through verified by visa which gives me added peace of mind that my money is secure. Their exchange rates are also preferable to those offered by banks or post office.
I've been using HIFX for a few years for all my personal and business currency exchange payments - I am wondering why it took me so long to change from using the slow and low exchange rate, banking system to the fast, efficient HIFX. I'd recommend HIFX to anyone who needs to make regular payments in different currencies.
My son and family live in Australia, and I regularly transfer money to them for birthdays, Christmas etc. I do this with HiFX online, and it is unbelievably easy to use, as their website is simple to follow. When I first bagan to use it and sometimes got a bit stuck, all it took was a phone call, and I was talked through what to to - or sometimes they even did it for me! Not now though as it seems to be fool proof.

This is the first time I did a transfer thru them and unlike a bank it felt like handing over a money to a stranger and it turned out that the transfer was done on time at the best rates possible and we get detailed confirmations at each stage. I would use them for all my transfers in future !!
I have been really fed up at receiving poor exchange rates from my bank and read about several foreign exchange companies and decided on using HiFX on a test basis. I saved several hundred pounds on a USD to GBP exchange. It was easy to set up an account with HiFX and to undertake the transaction online at any time of day or night. I also knew that there was a real human being I could phone if I needed help without going through a million-and-one security questions or phone extension options. There is no way I will use high street banks for foreign exchange again - they're a rip off!
I have held a business account with HiFX for almost two years now, and their service has always been superb. The online system is easy to use, and any problems (very rare) are handled effectively and without fuss. All transactions are assessed at an above average rate of exchange, compared to most banks and building societies. It's a very convenient on-line system, which enables you to convert and transfer money, to your designated bank very quickly.
I am so grateful to HiFX. I needed to transfer my life savings from US to Sterling and every day I called the bank the exchange rate just seemed to be worse and worse. A first experience with HiFX.This involved laying aside old loyalties to high street banks, and thinking beyond old prejudices and cautions concerning new players. I have to admit that articles written in the Independent and Sunday Times helped hugely to reshape my thinking.
Setting up an account with HiFX was routine with no untoward information-gathering. My subsequent security clearance involved one innocuous and pleasant telephone query and I was up and running. The transfer process involved commiting to an exchange rate, and watching the numbers fluctuate up and down needed the discipline to cease being mesmerised and hit the button ! The screen told me that the transfer would be made the following day, and although I completed this part of the process before midday, the transfer need was not time-critical and I did not pursue this query. The funds left my bank that afternoon, and HiFX made the transfer the following morning, very promptly confirmed by the Belgian recipient. Every step of the entire process was covered by swift affirmative emails from HiFX. I am fully happy with the rate received and narrow spread employed by HiFX. They did have overnight use of my funds but it cost me not one penny in add-on fees.

Watching the rate as they change means you can control when you make the exchange. We do recommend HiFX to our friends.
HiFX always give an excellent exchange rate and it is usually very easy to make transactions on-line. This time because of of problems with their web site and IE11, this looked as if it would not be possible. However, a quick phone call and advice to switch to Google Chrome fixed the problem and we transferred the money without hitch.
Once registered a simple and straightforward way to transfer money online.
Kept well informed at every stage and any questions answered online or by telephone.

We cannot commit to regular monthly payments set in advance, so each time we make a transaction monthly we are given a £9 00 charge and an additional charge if we pay with a credit card, we still use the service every month but when I rang to ask if the £9.00 charge could be waved I was told NO be the person I spoke too. I felt we are obviously too small fry for them to really be bothered with and they were not really interested in our problems. I cannot fault the service but it is very impersonal .
