Where are the records and music?
I used to go in various HMV branches and buy records and CDs, I don't bother anymore, they don't stock records except in Oxford St and those are too dear compared to other shops.
They sell the same games and tech as other shops, no real point of difference

slow delivery
HMV.com says "If you've pre-ordered, we'll aim to get it to you on the day of release."
I pre-ordered a game for my son because of this claim, but it arrived days late.
There does not appear to be any way to contact someone at HMV.com about late deliveries (their policy is for the customer to wait 14days past the delivery date).
I'd recommend going elsewhere if you want a timely delivery.

Ordered dvd
I had pre-ordered a box set of Prisoner Cell Block H and have been waiting for them to arrive I went into my local store the other day to find them on the shelves. I got an email from them today saying they were out of stock. I feel very let down by the online service whats the point of having the pre ordering service if they don't follow it through

competitive prices on tech products, very efficient dispatch
I've bought quite a lot from hmv.com over the past few months. Usually their dispatch time is pretty good (typically 4 or 5 days). Occaisionally it has taken longer, but in those case an email is sent notifying of the delay. As far as I know, you are only debited when the item is actually dispatched, not at the time of order, which is a good thing.
One thing to note - if you order multiple items, they tend to be packed and shipped separately (order 5 headphones at the same time and you'll receive 5 packages!). I have no real problem with this, although it does seem a strange way to go about things...I guess they're just geared up for single item orders.

Fast
Have now used their online site twice now to redeem evouchers.Great prices great range.Delivery,received goods within a couple of days.Check out for those coming christmas presents

Look for the bargains
HMV do have some great deals but you need to shop around. In store the shop has many of the same items dotted around the store with different prices which is annoying.
On line is very good and quick to find those bargains you need but as with everything HMV sells, other sell the same so you are keeping an eye on the money, check around before you buy.

Rip off
If you buy tickets for a concert that gets cancelled they do not honour their own terms and conditions but refuse to refund and stop answering emails

Very good service
I have used HMV.com for all my CDs and DVDs and found them to be consistently good.
They are competitive, have an excellent selection, always package very well and send immediately if the product is in stock.

Good online experience and quick delivery.
online ordering was easy and therefore i would highly recommend HMV. Although items were delivered from the channel islands, they arrived quickly.

Excellent company throughout
I love HMV, their stores are a beacon in a drab high street - as were Virgin.
The only problem I have always had is that CD's and related products are way too expensive.
In my opinion, HMV as a company would be saved if they drastically reduced their prices.
I would also appreciate re-packaging of CD's into DVD fomat cases offering more content and value for money.

HMV delivery service is brilliant and trusting plus it has FREE DELIVERY in the U.K which is excellent! i never have to leave my house if i want to buy entertainment again :) HMV is cheap and reliable and i always get my orders on time and they tell me all the details i need to know. Good name and bargins
I have to say I have no real problems with HMV
All round they seem to be pretty solid from my point of view.
Good deals on a lot of products and customer service is great.
I'm a console freak and when it comes to games and trade in,
they rock! 'Game' used to have it all, but for me HMV have hit them hard.

Good value and good service
OK, just to make it clear I'm talking about the online service here, although I have to say, I find the shops excellent too.
Quite competitively priced on the whole, although they maybe need to keep their eye on www.find-dvd-co.uk to make sure they keep in line. A lot of people will just go for the cheapest option. Having said that, if HMV are selling it for a little bit more, I would go with HMV every time as I know it will get delivered on time, unlike some companies who seem competitive but it takes a lot of hassle to actually get your product.
I also like the Pure rewards system.

Good, if Item is in stock
Ordered 5 items in past year, 3 have been cancelled by HMV after anything from a day to 3 weeks for various reasons. (maybe I'm unlucky)
I still order from them, I'm just not too surprised if they cancel the order.
If they truly have the item in stock, you'll usually get a "It's on its way" email the next day or so and everything is nice and fast.
The letting you know the item is in the post is a good touch.
If you find a really good bargain, just don't be too surprised to get a cancel order email a few days later. The money is refund quick enough so you can buy elsewhere if needed.

High price, poor choice
As much as I like their retail outlets, I found their webstore quite frustrating. There isn't much on offer aprt from the very main stream stuff, and their prices are always on the high side.

One of the last High Street music/film stores left
I love films and quite often I have pre-ordered them with HMV. I find that their online prices are really competitive. The delivery is free and quite quick. You get emails letting you know when your item is dispatched, out of stock or released. However the in store price does not match what they are selling them online for.
The store prices are over priced unless on a deal.
I am a member of Pure, which was £3 to join and it earns you points to get money off, music downloads or music/film memorabilia. The money voucher can only be used in store which is a little bit annoying as in the store it costs more money. If the store prices were cheaper more people would shop there. It is difficult for them as I am aware that they are suffering financial difficulties. I feel that a lot of people avoid shopping in the store because of the prices and would rather wait and buy online from other places completely unaware that HMV prices are cheaper online.

Good delivery time
I ordered loads of blue rays in the 2 for £24 sale the other day they all came within 3 days and were all in separate packages, so didn't have to say in for the postman to come. There are other really great bargains on the site

Excellent Service
Have ordered dvds a few times on hmv.com. The items were dispatched quickly and arrived when quoted in good condition. I have never had a problem with any of my orders or items I have received.
It is worth shopping around though because some of their prices, particularly box sets, can be quite steep compared to other retailers offering the same box set!

One of the Best
The service at hmv from my experience is excellent. Usually delivered quickly and whenever i have had any problem it has been easily resolved. The prices may not always be the best on all items, but for alot of things it is the best place to get them, also cheaper than in store prices for the majority. Highly recomended.

Selv om der står at varen har dansk tekst, er det mange gange ikke tilfælde.
Priserne ser okay ud, men i skal lige lægge 2,5 pund til pr. dvd i forsendelse.
Og deres kundeservice er alt for langsommelig

Just okay
Prices werent fantastic and the delivery is a little slow if you like to order from the chains then it is ok but sometimes you get better service from the smaller companies. Just okay imo

Very good service
HMV.com is often very quicky at dispatching items. Where its competitors often take a day or two, HMV usually has my orders shipped within a few hours. On the rare times I've had to contact their customer service, they've always been very good.
Much like their stores, their prices aren't always the most competitive. It is worth shopping around, but HMV.com is certainly a good place to be ordering from.
