I love Hobbycraft, I always end up spending more than I intended because I always see things that catch my eye. I really do wish they had a customer loyalty card though, with money off or a free gift after you've spent a certain amount of money.
I go into hobby craft with a little shopping list and leave with much much more.
Ideas all around - I started off coming into pick up things for crafts in school (cos I'm a teacher), then I took up a bit of jewellery making myself and my pupils, great way to have 'therapy' chats - while we are beading. Now I'm making cards, got a new sizzix big shot, And doing decoupatch. I'm a bit worried about going bankrupted!! And also worried I may need a bigger house for all my stuff.
The staff are helpful but to be honest everything is well layed out so I can browse and find what I didn't know I actually needed!!
This is a great shop to visit. Even if I'm not feeling very inspired before I get there. , I always find something for my next project . I love to do lots of different crafts so this is the perfect place for me as they have things for every possible craft you can think of from cakes to train models!! There's plenty for my two toddlers to choose from as well(age 2 and 3.5). I would recommend this place to any level of craft maker from novice to advance.
As much as I enjoy shopping in Hobbycraft, I've found slowly but surely that production selection has gone down within my favourite section of craft. Paper craft. Now I understand that it's not possible to stock every single product available. But after a lot of the stores were done up and it seemed like half the products disappeared. I've also noticed it with other sections too. Also I find Hobbycraft very expensive, seeing as HC is the only big craft store in the UK, you'd think you wouldn't need to have such high prices on things. I run a business myself and understand profit margins, but some of HC's are crazy
I popped in for card toppers and found what I needed easily (and ended up buying more!) The guy on the tills was friendly and enthusiastic. I also attend a knitting group and crochet group in store and we are welcomed and made to feel special
The nearest store is 25 miles away from me, so it is rare that I can get there. And of course any of the lovely evening activities are out.
Saying that, I love the store. It gives me EVERYTHING I need for all of my crafting and needlework ... even my jewelry is now made with a lot of things from Hobby Craft!
Please open a store closer to me and then I will be in heaven :)
I Love going into hobbycraft, its my candy store! But unfortunately I only purchase a little of what I need as I can buy the other items cheaper elsewhere, I only wish hobbycraft expanded its sculpting/clay area and stocked more supplies as this is my hobby and most of my supplies I need I either have to use ebay or buy from USA which can be quite costly! Overall though a well layed out shopping experience with a welcoming atmosphere :)
I first went to Hobbycraft a few years ago before they came to Scotland. When I found out that it was coming to Dundee I was over the moon. I am in the shop quite often and still go into them even on holiday. There is always a great selection of craft items. I would like them to start a rewards scheme. I do a few different crafts, cake decorating, cross stitch, knitting, jewellery and I know I can always get what I need there. Well done Hobbycraft.
The knit and knatter has become a very special place to a lot of people including myself. It is a great meeting place for old friends, new friends, mothers and daughters, and elderly people who may not see many folk through the week. The fact that everyone is like minded makes it even more enjoyable. The staff are always so friendly especially Denise. We are all aware that time is precious to the staff but I for one really appreciate the group and that we are able to meet in your store.
As a shop, pretty good in general - staff on the shop floor are friendly and helpful. A little overpriced but craft stuff often is. Rubbish and overpriced for knitting stuff despite having a large selection. Opinion of company not so strong after they decided to use my friend Lauren O'Farrell's copyrighted images without permission. It makes me wonder about their business principles given that big companies rarely rip off small artists only once.
