My wife and I have been using Holiday Autos for a couple of years now, have rented around 10 cars until now in different locations (France, Spain, Crete, Malta, Gran Canaria) and this company has never failed us.
The cars were always spotless (a few times we got the factory new ones), equipped as ordered and with unbeatable prices.
We scratched the rented car once and had to pay for the damage, but, since we bought the Total Damage Excess Waiver, we contacted Holiday Autos and got our money back in 2 weeks without any hassle.
We will definitely use them in the future and would recommend them to everybody.
We have used Holidayautos several times and I have to say they are perfect. You will get a car for a price you will NOT get anywhere else. I can't understand why the rest is complaining about their own mistakes. We did one ourselves too, we didn't read properly terms & conditions of a single car dealer and we had a problem, but Holidayauots returned us all the money even if it was our mistake. People, read the terms. We always rent a car with full to full policy, because if they have to do the refill it's very expensive and that's the way how it works with all car dealers. And none of this is problem of Holidayautos, they are simply not responsible for any of this. They do amazing job by offering us a car for such low prices you will never get if you contact the car dealer yourself.
I have rented cars from Holiday Autos several times over the years and I've always had a good experience. The last years I've rented my cars from Avis, but since I spent 1 1/2 hour waiting at the Avis Counter last time, I decided this time to give Holiday Autos a try this time.
Everything went as expected, until I picked up the car. First they wanted a deposit of 400 euro (OK! Nothing unusual with that), which would be returned when I returned the car. Haven't seen the Money yet and on their homepage it says it could take 3-4 weeks before the Money is returned and that due to credit Companies. Bullshit! I always get the deposit back after a day. I know they haven't charged me anything, as I already got the final invoice for the car.
Then, when I found the car it was full of dents and scratches. When I opened the door, I immediately discovered that the car was full of cigarette smoke. I then got hold of one of the employes and asked if I could have another car. Well, I could not! His solution was to use a spray to cover up the worst part of the cigarette smell. We then went over the car and I took some photos of the car with him beside the car, so I had proof of the damages. He then wrote wown some of damages of the car in the contract and went back to the office.
The car itself was ok, but the service I got from Maggiore (the rental agent), was far from good enough. Also I am pretty sure that they would have tried to charge me for the dents, if I hadn't had the employe writing them down in the contract.
A good advice is to always take some photos of the car from different angels. I know some rental agents try to charge their customers for old damages and I am pretty sure that damages are paid for at lest 3-4 times by different customers.
The problem with Holiday Autos is that they have some terrible partners that in the end are causing them a lot of problems and bad reputation.
Anyway, be aware that I also had some bad experiences with Avis and in some countries (like Italy), it's ok to screw the customers....
I have used Holiday Autos several times without any issue with them. When reading these reviews I am amazed that so many confuse what Holiday Autos function is and then give it poor reviews for issues that are not theirs. Lets be clear - they are NOT a car rental company but are a discounter/reseller just like Travelocity, Expedia, etc. They use CarTrawler as a back-end which is just like several other popular discounter companies. I have found that they provide rentals at a price which is generally significantly cheaper than other sites - or the rental companies directly. I have not had any issues of mis-selling or misrepresentation from their site ever. As they are reselling other company's products, it is important to read the details of EACH INDIVIDUAL rental offer as each represents the policies of that specific (and different) rental company. Do not confuse the responsibilities between Holiday Autos and the actual car rental companies.
I also have been surprised to see the reviews and the low scores. I have been using HolidayAutos for more than 6 years and have had good experiences.
The most recent hire was a three day hire with GreenMotion in Edinburgh Airport. The price was excellent and included a second driver on the car for free. The booking confirmation said I needed to bring extra identification documents, which I did but this was not inspected at all.
The GreenMotion staff were very helpful and arranged for me to bring my motor home onto the rental site to make the pickup easier. The car offered was a near new diesel Peugeot 208 (very impressed with the car). They car was checked carefully for existing damage (this being mainly to the wheels) and this noted. I was asked to confirm medical conditions, convictions and accidents (which was not the case previously with HolidayAutos and Europecar) but it was no issue.
I was offered extra insurance but with no pressure selling (I have a stand alone excess coverage policy so I always decline this).
When the car was returned then there was no extra damage noted and I was on my way. Overall an excellent experience.
I should have read the review before making a booking and going on a holiday.
I booked a car through HolidayAuto as they offered a good price compared to other car hire companies.
Everything went OK until I was about to pick up my booked car from a company called Olympic Car Hire at Heraklion airport, Crete. Their so-called "office" was just like a tent. When I was completing paperwork, I was told that I had to pay extra €85 on fuel with empty-return policy. I had expected that I paid everything to HolidayAuto. At the end, total cost was more expensive than other hire companies. I complained about this to HolidayAuto via emails, but totally-unhelful replies came from a firm called CarTrawer Support Team (who are they??).
The so-called "upgraded" car was old Hyndai with very dirty interior and lots of dents outside. Surprisingly, the staff did not check existing dents/damage and tried to pass on the key to me without the check, and I had to ask them to check it with them!! Also, I had to clean inside the car by myself when I reached to our hotel.
At the end of my one-week holiday, I managed to almost empty the car tank after driving hundreds of miles/kilometers, and returned the car with empty light ON on the dashboard. Even if the tank was empty, it would cost them only €70 ~ €75 to fill up. So, remaining balance has gone into their pocket. I still wonder how many customers can manage to empty the tank during their relaxing holiday.
Their method is totally rip-off. I will not use them again. Never!!
I booked with Holiday Auto for a car in Italy mainly because its advertised price for a second driver was very reasonable. When we used their vender, Locauto, they charged us double that cost and would not budge of we could not rent the car. After we arrived home could not get any satisfaction from Holiday Auto. Could not even reach them by phone after trying 10 times over three days. Finally reached UK division and she didn't even have our reservation in system anymore. They wipe their hands of everything that happens once you make your reservation with them. WILL NEVER USE HOLIDAY AUTO again!
Thought Id got a good deal. Checked contract to ensure all insurance included. Got back to find that an extra £41 had been taken from my credit card for 3 days hire. Was told by holiday autos that the extra was for CDW insurance. So much for all inclusive prices.
Booked GreenMotion car hire through Holiday Autos. After a tortuous, and expensive journey on the Hoppa Bus, I made it to the Holiday Inn Heathrow (M4 Jct 4). Shoddy outfit from the outside, but staff were friendly enough. I was put under pressure to buy additional insurance (twice the price of what normal car hire companies would offer) and decided against it as I knew I was hardly going to use the car, and it would be parked on a drive. I have hired cars for over 20 years and never had a scratch. Somewhat, I had a 6th sense something was not right. Damages on the car were checked by the attendant in the dark with the help of a mobile phone light (??!!) - needless to say this made me very nervous, and I made sure I followed the attendant all the way round the car - we recorded 22 minor scratches and dents. I returned the car yesterday (after driving around Heathrow for one hour, as no directions were given to me about access to the car park where the rental office was), they were very quick in picking up that I was very concerned about missing my flight. The person who checked the car went straight to a wheel (??!!) and claimed there was new damage (scratch) on the rim. I told him this was recorded on Friday, and after checking their 'systems' he confirmed this was new and was going to cost me 150GBP. I then realised that the particular scratch had conveniently been missed out on the car condition report form. I had a choice to argue, or miss my flight. I took the latter. I am thoroughly disgusted by the way they used the fact that I was a woman on her own, going back to Germany, worried about missing a flight to charge me for damage that was already there (and that would not even be a discussion for normal car hire companies). Yes they are cheap, but they know how to use vulnerable people and extract as much money out of them as they can. Unfortunately, what they don't know is that we have CCTV evidence that I pointed the damage to the attendant, and that my husband is British and living in the UK, so they will be dealing with him now. They have some interesting times coming up. My advice: stay clear if you can, especially if you are not a UK resident. If you really want to take the risk, take as many photos/videos as you can of the vehicle. They claim they are very thorough with their inspections, and prey on the fact their customers work on trust. Make you are very thorough too. Allow at least 2 hours before your check in time, as location is miles out of Heathrow, and bus connections only every 30 mns.
I booked through this company and was attracted by the FREE additional driver offer. I accepted the quote and when I got the Voucher found €48 additional charge payable locally. I immediately telephoned Holiday Autos to query this and they said "Don't worry it's just routine you won't be asked for the €48 as it's all included in what I've already paid". Upon arrivinng at Malaga at 1am Guess What - their contractor said that we had to pay the €48 or both of us won't be able to drive. At that time of night there was not much choice of any where else to go so we were forced to cough up. It's taken me three weeks to try and resolve this. They said that they have a transcript of my call where they say they never claimed that it was included. I made that call for one reason only and I am very clear and very precise about what they said. Their transcript is pure and total fiction. They refuse to let me have a copy of the recording. I'm going to pursue these crooks through the County Court. I hire holiday cars around 6 times a year and this is the first and very last time I use Holiday Autos - they are crooks they are rude on the phone and no one there wants to take responsibility for anything. Their customer service dept is not customer facing, just a bunch if spineless snakes working in the back room. In my book "includes Free Additional Driver" means exactly that - how they can actually charge for it I don't know.
Larnaca Airport Cyprus - weeks car hire October 2013. They rip you off at booking stage where you have to purchase an expensive insurance £48 just to cover the £525 excess charge. Tried to cancel as it said free cancellation but they want a £20 administration charge to cancel. You then have to purchase a full tank of fuel £89 on arrival at airport. Car is so shabby - paint peeling off, dents - no washer fluid - driving at night home from airport dangerous couldn't see out of front windshield. Total for one weeks hire over £200! ridiculous. Was through Europcar that the hire took place on behalf of Holiday Autos.
i booked a car in malaga on 5/9/13 for 10 nights. i actually booked it 6 hours before i went. on arrival the car hire co record refused our cc. but would take it if we paid 600 euros for their insurance which we declined. we never got a car. and holiday autos refused a refund on the basis that we did not comply with the cc terms. but i find it strange that they take their payment on a debit card but you cant secure a car on a debit card. j jenkins
This is a sham!! Goldcar are joke!!! The queue was over an hour and a half!! The plane journey was only 2 hours.
Then the preceded to rip us off with another 45 euros for insurance and 95 for fuel!! It only holds 80 euros worth of fuel.
We used less than half a tank why don't we get a refund?
I will never use this company again. And this will be posted on trip advisor
Initially we were not intending to hire a car for our week in Nerja,Southern Spain. When my husband researched transfer fees from Malaga airport it would be roughly about 140 euros for a return transfer from the airport to Nerja, so he compared this to rental prices. We knew that we would'nt be using the car much so even with the excess insurance we pre bought for £34 from the ad that pops up and petrol we thought car hire would be better value. How wrong we were. We arrived at Malaga airport and found the local agent Firefly where there was a terrible queing system full of hot, irrate customers not surprising since they had all been robbed basically. This is where my husband was told we had to buy their excess insurance because you have to have a credit card not debit card to honour the one we bought before we left, That was £65 but the real stinger the car has already a full tank of petrol, and their charge £90!!!. We used less than three quarters of the tank. There were lots of other people in exactly the same situation, it is not the sort of start you want to your holiday and we will never use them again and will make sure all my friends and family know of this too. If you were a reputable company why would you use such a dreadful local agent that charges more than double for the cost of fuel. Dreadful.
Very difficult to find their cabin which was outside the airport and up lots of steps
Arrived late at night to find no one in the office, after looking around the lady did come and take our details. The phone rang so she decided that the customer on the phone was more important than the one standing in front of her. My wife was ready for pulling the plug out of the phone.
The receptionist then pointed us to some car seats for our granddaughter which we had to carry to the car. She did not fix it for us or even explain how it should be fitted.
The car was not up to scratch either - bits of plastic missing, boot difficult to close
I would NOT recommend hire a car from this company if you are going to Crete
Had a rental vehicle for one week in Malta. Got to the rental desk to be told that they had to have a credit card for 1000 euro damage waiver, even though I argued that I had already paid for the upgraded insurance at the time to booking with Holiday Auto's but, to no avail so my Mum reluctantly handed over her card. We were then told that we were being given an 'upgraded' car - what a joke. Found our way out to the rentals car park and presented with a Japanese box on wheels covered in dents and scratches and with a very cloudy driver's side headlight. I insisted on checking the lights were actually working before we left and, no surprises, this headlight did not work so, they didn't check the car from when it was brought back by the last customer to it going out again. I refused to accept the vehicle as it was not roadworthy and then, of course, we were forced to wait around an hour and a half, in the full sun, standing in the car park as no office or anywhere to sit in the shade whilst we waited for them to find another car for us. Eventually, they gave us a small Peugeot which was clean inside and out and we checked off the condition of the bodywork with the member of staff from the hire car company and off we went, at last. We didn't use the car a great deal whilst we were away but the automatic gearbox was shocking and felt like it was about to fall out of the car as it vibrated and shuddered so badly.
Returned the car at 6.00 p.m. so, out of hours so, no member of staff to check off condition of vehicle upon return. Fly home and then a week later, my Mum tells me that she has had £370 deducted from her credit card with absolutely no communication from Holiday Autos as to why.
So, duly contacted them and they eventually told me it was for damage to the vehicle. I disputed this very strongly with them as I know for a fact that there was no damage to that vehicle when I returned it but, lesson learnt, should have taken photographs before flying home. However, their attitude was why was I so angry about it when I had paid for the upgraded damage excess as it would be refunded.
Not the point, I don't like being accused of something I haven't done.
Anyway, my Mum kept checking her credit card statement, still no sign of the money so, I phoned them up again, today (only to be cut off the first time) eventually get to speak to someone who tells me the credit was processed on 17th July. Tell my Mum to phone and check with credit card company but still no unprocessed credits. So, on a whim, I check my own bank account to find that the idiots had paid it back to me, not my mother's credit card.
Useless, useless, useless, rip off merchants, liers - I WILL NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN
Holiday Autos are one of the worst companies I have ever had the misfortune of using!... their prices are so great that as a regular hire car user I have been tempted by them 3 times in the last 2 years. On every occasion the experience has been unbelievibly poor in every single aspect of the companies operations.
My first experience using them was from Sienna airport it became apparent that the hire car place was no where near the airport, there were no signs to it and not speaking any italian I was unable to find it. Calling Holiday Autos proved next to useless as they also did not know where it was either - eventually I found it with the help of one of the 'real' hire car places. Now 2 hours late for my meeting I then discovered that they had not been told of the GPS I had requested via Holiday Autos and so I had to use my iphone at vast cost to get to my destination.
My second experience, using them from Ankara airport, resulted in us waiting 3 hours to be picked up by some random stranger in front of the airport to be driven to a Shell petrol station forecourt where we were introduced to our car - no check in place and again they had not been informed of the GPS request - Calling Holiday Auto's to provide us with some backup to ensure we recieved the GPS we had already paid Holiday Autos for proved useless with them quickly telling us that they could not be responsible for the hire car companies actions. We were left having to pay the local company for a GPS we had already bought.
Having sworn never to use them again I was tempted back when traveling from Vienna airport as their hire car partner was actually based in the airport (the very pleasant Mega Drive) - what could go wrong I thought! I arrived to find that Holiday Autos had taken payment from my card twice (I had never been made aware that they had taken my money and wonder if they ever would have told me had I not contacted them). As a result their computer system had got confused and had not sent the voucher to the hire car company so the car could not be released. After several angry calls with them dodging responsibility and saying they could not get the vouher to the company until tomorrow even thought i was on a 1 day hire! they emailed it over (first to the wrong address as they didn't have the correct one on their system). In the meatime I had racked up a load of expense on mobile phone calls to them and had eaten expensive airport food whilst waiting for them to get the voucher over. now 3 hours late I was left with a 45minute meeting time before having to return back to the airport for my flight.
I can simply not understand what can be so complex about setting up hire car reservations but one thing is for sure that Holiday Auto's are the last people to have mastered the art - one word describes them and their operations - pathetic.
If like me you simply can't resist their prices, remember to factor in the cost of extra gps's, taxi journerys, international roaming charge, unforseen subsistence and extensive delays before comparing them to the prices from a 'real' hire car company.
PS - I given them 1/5 here simply because there is no option for 0/5 which is actually what they deserve
Used them for a 2 week booking from Madrid airport. Their chosen local partner was Firefly car hire. Not a good experience :
1. Even though we arrived on time, we had to wait 45 mins to be seen then 1 and a half hours before a car was ready, all in a very hot office in the car park with aircon for staff only!
2. Our car was not ready, but in the 2+ hours we had to wait, I watched 4 members of their staff sitting in one of the cars smoking and chatting whilst 2 were left in the office to deal with all customers. Could these 4 not have been cleaning cars or at least trying to help.
3. Were ripped off for a tank of fuel at double what t cost me to fill the tank at a local petrol station.
4. Were ripped off with additional insurance because the "fully insured" offering from Holiday Autos did not cover windscreen, wheels or tyres.
5. Car was a dented, dirty and not up to normal car hire standards.
6. Car itself was poor quality and not well serviced, struggled to keep up with the speed limits on even slight inclines on the motorway.
My advice, stick with one of the big companies like Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Sixt etc. It may look more expensive, but in the long run it won't be and you will get a much more suitable and safe rental car.
I booked a car through Holiday autos .com for a car rental in Curacao and their voucher clearly states:
All prices are inclusive of airport fee ,unlimited mileage ,VAT and Fuel.
National Car rental who was the provider charged me concession fee and OB/Tax which is exactly the same as airport fee and VAT so I paid double .
Holiday autos feels that these fees are different .I am sorry to say that they are at least misleading ;or better put fraudulent .
I therefore totally agree with the comments of the other customers regarding this company !!!!
On first impressions HolidayAutos seems to offer value for money, but it is in the details you find their true 'cost' , I bought the total damage excess waiver to avoid the massive unjustified excess, their partners charge, but when I came to collect the car at the Belfast airport I'm told that I haven't bought the excessive waiver and I still need to supply a £1000 deposit or buy the excessive waiver from them. It turns out that this is a scam HolidayAutos and their partners pull on unsuspecting punters, I had in fact bought the excess waiver, but buying it from HolidayAutos direct meant I would still need to pay their partners excessive waiver or pay a massive deposit and if anything happen(a scratch would do) the partner would take the money from the deposit and I would need to claim it back from HolidayAutos. Neither HolidayAutos or Budget made this clear in the hope they could fleece me. Please do not make the same mistake as me, go to Kayak, avoid high excess charges, NEVER use HolidayAutos.
Holiday Autos do not give you the name of the rental company until you have booked. At Gatwick they use Easirent who are not even based at the Airport. We waited for over 1h20 minutes whilst Easirent kept saying that their driver was just about to arrive. The driver was then supposed to take us to the car.
In the end we gave up and hired directly with Hertz which cost us loads because we were last minute. Holiday Autos have just refunded the original rental cost and paid for my 10 wasted phone calls to Easirent. I am out of pocket for about £250 because of this.
I would never use Holiday Autos again.
We booked a holiday with KPX Travel to Lake Como Region.
This was meant to include Car Hire, Hotel and Flights however we had to pay an extra £130 to the car hire company (Holiday Autos) which included extra insurance which they say we needed and snow chains. They then took an extra 351,91 EUR plus VAT from our credit card for so called damage to the vehicle
Here is a link to the deal on Groupon dea
http://getaways.groupon.co.uk/d-17548652-Lake-Como-Region The Hotel was really nice
Obviously Ryan Air had their extra charges
We tried to resolve this through KPX Travel but they don’t want to know
Avoid using KPX Travel and Holiday Autos
I booked a car to pick up in Funchal just before we left on holiday and received an email back which said - 'We've received your booking for car hire, but we need to check that the car you have selected is available. We aim to get back to you within the next 2 working days to confirm the status of your booking' - Needless to say reading the other posts here I never heard anything more from them but they still charged my credit card as if they'd supplied a car - AVOID AVOID AVOID!!

Took my money and gave me a confirmation number, I arrived at the airport and the hire centre had no record of a transaction. They called holiday autos and they told me they had cancelled it due to lack of availability of cars and emailed me, which they hadn't (I looked in my spam folder). I was left high and dry. They refunded me about 2 weeks later and it was £15 less than I paid. Idiots and charlatans.

Fortunately I have narrowly avoided using this company for car hire in Spain. I had booked a car for two weeks at a very competitive rate through the CSMA discount scheme which (if booked before 7th April included a free upgrade to total excess waiver on the insurance). I booked received a confirmation but couldn't acces the bill to see what they actually charged me for 24 hours. When I checked I found that they had charged me for the upgrade on insurance. Some mistake or innocent error or IT cock up I thought. I called HA customer service (on the Saturday on the day following my booking) and got through to a (I assume) Indian lady who had difficulty undertanding what my problem was and kept trying to terminate the call at the slightest indication thta I had said 'yes' to anything. I have to say I have a great deal of sympathy for call centre staff who are incredibly badly paid given next to no training and given impossible targets. That said it took me over 20 minutes to get her to eventually put me through to a supervisor. It transpired that customer services had no knowledg of the free upgrade offer and I had to take the supervisor to their own adverty on the CSMA web-site before they agreed that I was indeed entitled to the free upgrade but unfortuantely their technical staff weren't in until Monday (after the offer closed) and they could only suggest sending in an email query or phoning back on Monday. To be fair the supervisor did eventually call me back and said the reason for the charge was that the total damage waiver box on the booking form was ticked (I should point out that the form has this box ticked as a default setting, you have to deliberately 'untick' the box) and therefore HA had charged me. Apparently if the box had not been ticked, indicating standard insurance waiver they woul have upgraded me. When I pointed out that what he was saying was that HA would have upgraded me if I hadn't asked for what I was entitled to but charged me when I actually asked for something to which (he agreed) I was entitled he said that he couldn't do anything about it. This is the point that I decided to cancel and avoid anything more to do with such a confused and incompetent organisation. I should also state that they had the cheek to try and charge me a £15 cancellation fee which I had to point out was not legally enforceable. Saying that as I still have to wait another 24 hgours for the credit invoice to become available I am not entirely certain that they have waived the fee?
The point is that if this company cannot even communicate their own offers to their own customer service staff let alone operate their own booking system and then still try to rip you off at the last minute what on earth could have happened if I had actually gone through with this booking and had a problem in Spain. I have no faith in this company and despite looking competitive frankly I would rather spend a few more pounds for abetter service. I have passed this information onto the CSMA who will hopefully choose another preferred partner company to do business with.

We were booking a car in Palermo.
At the time of booking, the provider had not advised that the car rental place is miles from the airport.
The instruction given after the booking were non existent and we went to a “car rental” building. Apparently “our” car rental place wasn’t there. We had to search and were lucky to find a van that was picking us up (which we didn’t know about).
Then a trip for 20min to a different village.
During booking, the car’s papers were already filled in and we made a mistake not checking them.
We paid for this dearly on the return of the car. They told us, that there is a new scratch and charged us £90, without even getting our approval. The scratch must have been there before, as it was going across 2 doors and they had problem with only one, the other was marked on the paper.
On the return to the UK, we contacted holiday autos, but they haven’t even bothered to reply.
Horrible experience – NEVET again!
Just when I thought I had seen every scam, sharp practice and rip off that Holiday Autoes could throw at me, you come up with an absolute beauty. You should be really proud of yourself because this must have made you millions of pounds whilst distressing thousands of your customers, not just me. Before I continue, I ask that in any response to me you don’t insult me by saving it is nothing to do with you and it’s your suppliers. Or tell me it’s on the terms and conditions. I run my own business and when a client deals with our company we are responsible for all parts of the supply chain. I would not expect to complain to a supermarket to be told to go and speak to the farmer. I know that you are aware, understand and agree to all charges, conditions and operating practices of the car hire companies. When I book a car through Holiday Autoes that is exactly what I do.
If you (like at my company) did not agree with the terms of a supplier then you can either get them to change the way they operate or you could drop them as a supplier, from this I conclude that you have sat down with them at formal meetings and agreed all charges and ways of working, you have therefore agreed to these scams. If not, your set up is amateurish.
The scam that has really got me angry this time is arriving to pick up my car, after paying for everything I wanted on line to be hit with additional costs of 196 euros (in case you think this is a typo, you are right one hundred and ninety six euros.)
We travelled on one of the busiest Fridays of the season Friday 27th July, to one of the busiest airports Alicante, at the busiest of times, after work on Friday. When I picked up my car, the airport was packed with families picking up cars and after waiting for an hour was charged an additional 35uros (thirty five euros) it appeared on the bill as “others” when I challenged this I was told it was because It was late. Now let me remind you of something, it was “peak time”, peak season and the airport was packed so why did you charge me 35 euros extra? I could understand if it was 4am at an airport that was closed but this was the main pick up period. This scam is a disgrace and you should be ashamed of yourself. Is it your policy to try and ruin hard working customers holidays before they have even begun? And before you try, in your usual way, of distancing yourself from all your responsibilities, I would also like to mention that friends on the same flight as us who booked their car through another company, not Holiday Autos, were not charged this 35 Euros.
I want this 35 Euros refunding to me.
The second part of your scam was the additional driver cover on the policy. You can’t go on a family holiday and not have additional insurance cover. If the main driver was not able to drive (sprained ankle for example) then you have to make sure you can legally drive. We were charged 44 euros for this. Now to put this into context, only one person can drive the car at a time and my wife driving is no more likely to have an accident than me so why were we charged a rate equivalent to 1,606 euros a year. This is over 4 times my fully comprehensible insurance cost at home to drive. And this is an extra don’t forget on top of the car hire cost which was inclusive of insurance. You can’t say it is an admin charge at this rate. Also, my wife put herself down as second driver on our friends car, the family who did not book through Holiday autoes and they were charged 20 Euros, so explain why the same person is charged twice as much through Holiday Autoes
I want 22 Euros refunded to me for this overcharge compared to other companies
The third part of your scam is the fuel charge. We were charged 117 Euros for fuel we did not want or need. As well as the rip off factor, I would also like to question your corporate responsibility.
According to my research, the fuel tank size of the Berlingo is 60 litres. The cost of fuel at the time of the trip was 1.40 per litre which equates to 84 Euros. You charged me 117 Euros, a difference of 33 Euros. What a rip off.
I want this 33 Euros refunding to me.
No one can dive a car and return it empty, this is impossible for obvious reasons, at the best there would be 5 litres left in the tank. How dare you charge for the full 60 litres when nobody can or would risk driving to empty?
I want 7 Euros refunding to me to cover the fuel that is always left in a tank
A full tank covers 1145 km, how many people do you know who drive this distance on a beach family holiday. We have been charged this amount before by Holiday Autoes for a 5 day holiday. This would equate to an annual mileage of 84,000 km. We did not want this fuel yet we were charged for it. In the past you have said that some customers prefer to do it this way, well firstly I have never spoken to anybody who has said that, and secondly, if that is true you should allow customers to choose. It would be a 2 minute job to add to the website the fuel policy choice to enable people to return the car full or empty, the fact that you don’t provide this choice proves to me you are part of this fuel rip off and profiting from it. My company creates websites so I know this to be a very simple job.
I want 30 Euros refunding for the ¼ tank of fuel I was unable to use.
What infuriates almost as much as your contempt for your customers and your clear determination to rip each and every one off as much as possible, is your contempt for the planet we live on. It is now proven the link between carbon emissions and global warming yet your fuel policies actively encourage people to use more fuel than they need, you will frequently hear the phrase “we might as well drive as we have paid for the fuel” How can you sleep at night knowing you are contributing to the death of the planet just so you can dishonestly make a few extra pounds, do you not have any corporate responsibility at all. Do you not care about the next generation who will inherit the planet from the rest of us?
I wonder if you have a mission statement to “ruin family holidays and destroy the planet”
Please contact me to arrange the refund of the 127 euros I have been unjustly charged and to explain what changes you are planning to make to the way you operate.
We booked a car through Holidayautos, brokers for car hire firms, for a week in Spain in November 2012. When we arrived to pick up the vehicle at RecordGo we were informed on presentation of our annual insurance4carhire policy 'We've seen this before and it's no good'. We were pressurised to take out further insurance at additional cost. When we arrived home we realised we had been conned when we received an email from insurance4carhire stating RecordGo had used this ploy on others. We complained to Holidayautos who eventually said that they could do nothing after the event. When we questioned why the company we were booking with was not clearly shown on their website until after the booking had been COMPLETED they said:
Please kindly note that car hire company's name may be checked during the booking process under important information section headed 'picking up your car'. Important information section can be found on our website at the second page where the cars are presented. Under the picture of the car you will find car details, please click on it and then go to further information.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH. THE COMPANY USED SHOULD BE CLEARLY SHOWN ON THE BOOKING FORM PRIOR TO MAKING A BOOKING AND NOT HIDDEN IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
We won't use Holidayautos again in Spain and would advise everyone to beware of RecordGo and the tactics they use.

Terrible Hire Company, did not provide a car, they took £400 and no refund was provided. TOTAL SCAMMERS!
Now in the process of taking this company to court.
If you try and call their customer service line you will end up paying premium line rates at almost £1.00 a minute so they can make more money of your complaint.
Do not hire from this company you have been warned.
We asked where the nearest petrol station were and was told it was 15 k north of the airport. We entered from the south when returning and found no petrol station closer than 30 k south and figured it was the best possible for all parts. But we were charged 30€ for the missing 1,5 liters int the tank. And their return desk was crowded with people having the same sort of trouble. Stay away from this company!
Had absolutely no problems using Holiday Autos. Ordered a luxury car for 24 hours for a relative's wedding (so used a local pickup, UK based), car was ready, very clean and everything just as the website said.
I have used this company a few years ago for hire from Geneva airport and again, had no problems.
I will certainly use this company again.
