I suffered a life changing injury playing football earlier this year and have spent 10 months at home recuperating. I decided to make best use of this time and study from home 'AAT in accountancy'. After nearly 20 years working in sales and recruitment I wanted to pursue a new career in accountancy. I initially researched courses online and was attracted by Home Learning College. In-particular the advice I received and customer support was exceptional. It gave me the confidence to commit to studying Level 2 & 3.
Six months on and I am about to sit my first two exams. I will return to work in January as 'accounts assistant'. I have thoroughly enjoyed my home study experience. I would have no hesitation recommending HLC.
I've recently started my second course with Home Learning College - I enjoyed the first course so much that I decided to do another course to further extend my knowledge!
I first studied the Level 3 certificate in supporting teaching and learning in schools. The study books were excellent - truly informative and an invaluable resource for both my assignments and my practical activities. The assignments were well laid out and I really feel as though this layout allowed me to gain a thorough knowledge of the subjects within the course. The practical element was tricky at times, but with the support of the tutors and the students via the online forum, these were easy to tackle and complete.
After passing this course, I still had the study bug and decided to further my knowledge of children by studying the diploma in child psychology. I'm really enjoying the course so far, the study books are excellent - there are plenty of questions throughout the reading to test your understanding, and there are many activities to undertake, including observations and mini experiments to test out psychologist theory. The feedback I've received so far from my tutor has been superb and whenever I have a question via email, it is quickly answered.
I'd highly recommend anyone wanting to either become a teaching assistant, or someone who wants to gain a general understanding of child psychology to seriously consider using Home Learning College, as a trustworthy provider. Distance learning is amazing, as it truly fits to your own personal life and around your work needs. Furthermore, HLC offers great support, excellent reading materials and the opportunity to succeed!
I received a flyer through the post a couple of years ago to study bookkeeping with Home Learning College. I thought, why not, I like problem solving so I started my course. The support was great and I received a distinction for my Level II. Two years down the line I'm now qualified and in practice, with my own clients.

I found the Home Learning College an excellent way to train as a Bookkeeper. I have a 2 year old daughter so college/university wasn't going to be an option. I wanted to change career paths and found Home Learning College. The syllabus was well structured, the work and assessments were easy to follow and there was unlimited help from tutors whenever you required assistance. I would definitely recommend studying this way, whether its to increase skills or for a whole new change in career.
I would recommend HLC to anyone who wants to learn alongside a current career or childcare commitments. The great thing about the course that I did was that I could do as much or as little study as I wanted to do per day/week to fit in with my lifestyle and was able to take control of my learning in this way.
I found the tutors extremely helpful as well as being able to discuss elements of the course with people just like me who were studying the same subject and asking the same questions that I was.
Being able to complete the course on my terms and in a timescale that was preferable to me made all the difference to my experience in undertaking further qualifications. It really has given me the confidence to pursue career options not previously available.
I really wish I had done this years ago. I had a very positive experience with Home Learning College and even after I had completed (and passed!) my course they were on hand to help with questions I had with applying my new skills to my job.
I am currently half way through the NCFE Level 3 course in "Supporting Teaching and Learning in School" available with HLC. The resources offered are extremely detailed, from the course text books (also available online) to the specific and informative guidance notes for each assignment, together with electronic transcripts of all the previously answered question and tutor support via email or telephone. The live class sessions on topic of interest with open participation are particularly useful interactive resource, particularly as they can be accessed and viewed any time! I particularly chose this course as it requires compulsory practical experience and completion of specific, relevant tasks in a school environment - extra work, but the best training for the actual Teaching Assistant post.
The course requires dedication and a degree of additional, independent research/study which not only enables students to complete the course work, but also prepares them for similar challenges in the actual work environment.
I highly recommend this HLC distance learning course as a solid and reliable alternative to any college based course.
I have joined home learning college and this was one of the worse decisions i have taken. I was assured and given many promises about this course i paid a deposit to get started its been 4 weeks i didnt have my learning agreement which meant i couldnt start and cant recieve my books via post, when i finally do recieve the agreement and i sign it i still havent recieved my books or my AAT membership. I have sent an email complaining no one has had the decency to reply back to my email. I have called customer service been advised i will get a call back and havent done until now. I really wanted to get this course done as a vacancy was going at my work and by now i could have been 25% through the course however home learning has made this a bad experience and completely put me off. I am asking for my deposit back so i can sign up with another course provider again no response. As promised my books, AAT membership, NUS card will be with me within 7 days however nothing has been recieved. This is so unfair. Home learning if this was me and didnt pay your monthly instalment or fee would you have allowed me to continue with the course so why do it to students. I am really upset and very annoyed.
I am currently studying IAB Computerised Accounting for Business Level 2, I have signed up for Level 1, 2 & 3. I am really glad with the grades I was able to achieve for Level 1 with the support of the Home Learning College. As there are no scheduled time limits for assignments and tests, I was able to study on my own pace, I think that also helped me achieve the best grades possible.
I didn't have to spend extra money and time searching for the course materials needed, as those were included in the price of the course and was sent to me by post within a few days. The Home Learning College provides step by step guide and there is the opportunity to contact tutors and start a conversation about a topic you are unsure of, doesn't matter how many times you seek advice, without hesitation, tutors will be there to support you!
Home Learning College offers Live Classes and also recordings of those classes, so that students can go back and look through the recordings to make more notes and to understand the topics efficiently.
Even though I knew what job I wanted to end up doing, I wasn't perfectly sure the necessary steps to take in order to achieve the career path I dream of, However once I've spoken to the advisers of the Home Learning College, they've helped me through this. I should mention, if it is not clear from the review I've given so far, I am very happy with the experience I've gained by being a student at Home Learning College and hope to do so.
However I would really appreciate it if more Live Classes are held more often and if the tutors could reply sooner on the General Forum conversations students bring up. Thanks :)
I found out about Home Learning College online, it offered a lot of courses I was interested it. I spoke to the most helpful and lovely people from the customer service to get advice on which course would be best for me; I was advised by them that AAT Level 2 would be my perfect course. I'm currently half of the way through my course and I'm enjoying the whole process. The accountancy tutors are very helpful and friendly to ask for help and advice. It was the best decision to enrol in Home Learning College; I'm ever so grateful for the help and support the tutors offer.

I would like to recommend Home Learning College for providing an absolutely fantastic course, which covered every area of marketing that was relevant for the CIM level - Introductory Certificate Level 3.
The course books were brilliantly set out, with each unit covered in detail with additional case studies and suggested additional reading. The course books provided a great basis of knowledge, which should be expanded upon by using sources such as internet and textbooks in order to complete the course assignments. The assignments really made me have to think ‘like a marketer’ – which is the reason I took the course in the first place.
The tutors (I had Jessica and Jacqui) were always punctual with email responses, answering queries and going above and beyond what was required with their detailed help. I did not need to telephone them requiring assistance, perhaps that was just me, but judging by how they addressed email issues, general enquiries on the HLC message boards and the Live Classes, I can imagine a phone call experience would have been equally as positive.
HLC Virtual Learning Community (VLC) is excellent – it allows for students to access all course materials, submit their work, access Live Classes and converse with other students. What I really liked was the ability to access the online community at any time, and to start straight away which was not the case with other CIM providers I had enquired with before choosing HLC.
Live Classes were a great chance to see and hear tutors, and enter into discussions with them and other students. HLC made the Live Classes available to watch after having been recorded, but I would recommend trying to watch as they are filmed for the best experience. Tutors really engage with viewers and are humourous and polite. The VLC has a calendar to show you key dates.
I have now finished my HLC course, which prepared me well for the CIM assignments and test and I am thoroughly happy with how each has progressed. I would definitely recommend Home Learning College to anyone thinking of studying for a CIM/CAM qualification, as HLC provides the support and resources necessary to really achieve! Overall I would give Home Learning College 5/5 – very happy with everything!
I am now waiting for my results, so fingers crossed!

After studying many courses in the past in the classroom it took some time to adjust to online learning. Having the CIM Marketing Diploma already, the course has been useful in adding a range of online marketing options and tools to my skills base and I know the CAM Diploma has increased in recognition across the industry since I started it in January 2013.
The course resources have improved considerably in the past few months. The recent live classes are a better way of delivering information about the course, formats, etc - I just wish I’d had them at the start. The tutors are clearly very knowledgeable about digital marketing and it’s good to be able to interact with students and tutors and ask questions.
At the start a better idea about which organisation to pick as assignment and exam subjects would have been helpful. It would have been useful to know that organisations who do digital marketing well seem a better choice for DME, whereas those with room to improvement provide better subjects for the exams and DMP.
I found the original templates/factsheets etc rather confusing- it would be much clearer to only have the assignment details in one place as they don’t always match up– perhaps a fact sheet only or just details at the end of the Lesson PowerPoint presentation would be clearer.
It is difficult to arrange to speak to a tutor on the phone – I have only managed to speak to Jessica once since I started the course in January, but emails are usually answered by Jessica or Anna quite promptly and at all time of the night and day! I wonder whether more staff might help spread their workload. Having been through the process of my first exam I realise how much work the tutors have to do on a 3 monthly constant cycle as well as fielding queries from students.
For the time commitment needed, I found the 100 hours per module on assignments realistic, and achievable when working full-time if you are disciplined, but for the first exam the predicted commitment was 30-40 hours, but I spent well over 100 hours and ended up working till the small hours for some weeks. It would have been much easier to know this in the first place, so I could plan around it. The word count set by CIM/CAM doesn’t provide much scope for creativity or detail..
Overall I am enjoying the course, and feel I have picked up some useful digital skills. I have already recommended it to my marketing colleagues and it seems to be the best-recognised digital marketing course – it has been good to be able to do the assignments at my own pace.
I have studied previously with another home learning college in the past, and thought would change colleges and found Home Learning - I would definitely recommend them to anyone! Great help, staff are friendly and support is always there 24/7. The course suits my lifestyle as I work full time, and studying in my own time is perfect for me which means I don't need to rush it and can take my time. The course is easily presented and easy access to course materials can be found on the virtual community site group. There are tutor lessons which take place regularly, materials which can be accessed online, and the course is well structured - CIM Marketing. Definitely recommend to those looking for a career change or something new to learn about, gain a new qualification which is highly recognised by employers. (CB1259441)
I've completed one course with HLC & was so impressed I'm half way through my second. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone. The joining process is easy, the course books are great & the tutors are literally on tap.
HLC can't do the work for you or sit your exams so don't think they can make studying a breeze for you. If you've got the commitment to your studies then they will provide you with the support you need to get through.
From start to finish i have enjoyed every minute of it, the tutors are amazing and very informative. When i first started the course i had no idea about web design or any aspect about it, but after i completed the course and passed my exams i feel like i know a great deal about web design and it has pushed me into the right direction of a new career path.
I finished my two year course in march and i am now enrolling at Stafford university attending web programming this September, without home learning i don't think this would of been possible and it has opened new career paths for me in the future.
Thank you home learning :)
I was sceptical about doing a home learning course but I'm so glad I did! The tutor was fantastic and I never felt like I was alone thanks to the student forums and speedy responses to any queries from the tutors! The payments plan wAs affordable and easy to set up and I found the whole experience really good. It's not easy distant learning but I'd definitely do it again with Home learning college as I couldn't fault them one bit
I can understand questions about my qualifications or about my work experience; although asking about my salary and monthly payments is unimportant. I am not applying for a loan or even for a credit card, I am applying to finish my AAT qualification.
I have contacted with Home Learning College just to find an answer on the question: Can I do AAT level 4 in 2 years with them? Man had told me that he cannot answer me on this question till I didn't answer on some security questions, after he was asking me about financial situation and bank information. When I told him that I want just answer on one question and I am unhappy to answer on these questions the man told me that I am rude and he willnt speak with me at all. After this he just hang off the phone. I will go to other company with better customer service.
I began Home Learning College many years ago and passed the Computerised Bookkeeping Course with a distinction. I then decided to go for the Level II Manual Bookkeeping Course when I passed the exam I knew I would be qualified as a Bookkeeper myself. I have suffered through this course as I had to have brain surgery which took a lot of the course away but Home Learning understood what I had been through and extended my course free of charge for 8 months. I have always found all the tutors very friendly and helpful.
As I have completed all my assignments and mock exams etc I am now ready to take the final exam but getting a bid edgy so have just extended the course again for 3 months so I can gain my confidence back again to make sure I pass the exam.
I would really recommend Home Learning College for anything they wish to study as they will never struggle due to all the help behind the phone lines.
I decided to study with HLC as they offered the most professional and recognisable Digital Marketing qualification on the market. There was a lot of content and work involved so I knew it wouldn't be easy to achieve but from speaking to the course advisors and then my tutor, I knew that I could ask any question no matter how small.
I found things a bit overwhelming at first, a new way of studying and not having done it for so long left me feeling nervous but one email to my tutor Jessica and all of my concerns and worries were put aside. She managed to help me without giving me the answer and so when I finally got my first A grade I knew I had truly earnt it.
I am now working towards my first exam and the amount of support provided has been unbelievable. Ranging from live lessons, regular emails and simply repeating information, I know that I can achieve what I set out to do. I am already working part time in a marketing team because of this qualification and I know that I wouldn't be where I am now without it.
I would recommend HLC to everyone, but you have to put in as much as you want to get out and at the end of the day no one wants a qualification handed to them on a plate, it's far better to know that you have achieved something to set you up for your new job (fingers crossed!).
In the past I have used a home learning provider and I was very unhappy with the service and complained about the course and tutors during the whole of my studying, I never achieved completion of the course and I didn't receive any of my money back!
I've always wanted to study Criminology but after such a bad experience with the previous home learning provider, I didn't want to go down the same route. After deciding that Criminology could help with my career, I conducted thorough research with Home Learning College and after reading all the positive reviews I thought I'd sign up!
Now that I have completed my Criminology Course I was so glad that I did it, I learnt so much and I would recommend it to everyone or anyone looking to explore Criminology.
My Tutor and all staff that I engaged with were all very helpful, friendly and supportive to my every need.
The Tutor was available to talk to through email, telephone, or chat through the Student page. They would regularly hold live webinars so students could join in with the tutor where they would explain in detail about what was to be expected from the next assignment, but students could ask questions at the end of the webinar about any assignment or questions they had on the course material.
I have given 5 stars due to the service I received and the experience as a whole.
I enrolled in January 2013. I wanted to build myself a new career and having done online learning in the past felt this was a good option. How wrong was I.
I was talked into signing up for two courses by the 'student support agent', a salesman I now know. I wish I hadnt.
I have completed my level 2 AAT accounts course but only with major complaints to HLC and one to one support from the department deputy. I cannot get out of level 3 and will have to continue as it is costing me a great deal of money.
The website is extremely confusing. It takes weeks to sit an exam by which time what has been learnt gets forgotten. It is impossible to complete both courses in 6 months because of this as I was told at the beginning.
There are errors in the books and answers are often missing or wrong.
I would never recommend them.
A fabulous company to study with. They supported me on every step of the course, were very quick in replying to my queries and the manner in which they speak and treat you is second to none! It was a pleasure studying a subject I had no previous experience with, and I soon learned that this particular subject was the one for me! I have loved every single minute of my course and felt I had got to know all my tutors personally! I cannot thank them enough for their professional attitude and support. I will highly recommend this company to my friends who are thinking of going on a different career path.
Did not take the Comptia A+ exam, but did well on the online sections test. Would like to have had some type of Certificate to say I've done well but did not take the exam. My time with you feels like it never took place.
I would greatly recommend HLC to anyone wanting to study from home at a time to suit and at their own pace. The lessons are well structured and help from the Tutors is readily available. I recently passed my ICB Level II Manual Bookkeeping, and am now on with my ICB Level II Computerised Bookkeeping.
Have used HLC for my book keeping course - Tutors are great, live sessions really helpful, all the resources are where you need them, when you need them.
Haven't had any problems contacting the tutors or student services, when needed.
Would highly recommend HLC and will probably do further training with them in the future.
TOOK £2500 FROM ME TO DO AN AAT COURSE AND NEVER SUPPLIED THE COURSE. TUTORS ARE UNCONTACTABLE AND YOUR FOREVER CHASING THEM UP FOR EXAMS AND CHASING FOR TUTORS TO GET IN CONTACT AND THEN WHEN THEY DO WEEKS LATER THEY JUST HAND YOU THE ANSWERS TO THE ASSIGNMENT. I AM NOW PURSUING THEM VIA THE COURTS FOR MY MONEY BACK NEVER FINISHED THE COURSE INFACT DIDNT GET STARTED.
A have been studying with hlc for about 5 months now, and its going great. I have fabrastic support from my tutors. They regular check how im getting on and offer support where needed. The online resources and live lessons are great, couldnt be much better. :-) All questions are answered and explained. I have a visual disability and hlc have sent resources a d given me extra support and help i needed. Way better than going to an actual college. Once completed my current course i will definately be taking another up with hlc... :-)....
I embarked upon a new career path with Home Learning College. I can wholeheartedly recommend the college to any potential students. The tutors were supportive and quick to answer any questions. The course materials arrived swiftly and were comprehensive. I am so pleased that I opted for a distance-learning provider, as this allowed me to manage the pace of my studies. Thank you, Home Learning College. I am now employed in my chosen profession as a teaching assistant.
I have no regrets joining HLC, they are very good at setting up a learning package and are always there to support when they are needed. They even e-mail me when I haven't logged on for a while to see how I'm doing and to offer support.
I chose to study with the Home Learning College as they offer the opportunity to study at your own pace whilst working towards a valuable professional qualification. I have found the support from my tutor incredible and highly uplifting and they are always availble if you need help. I am currently in my final exam period and have recieved really helpful comments on my assignments so am now fully expecting to pass.
I would definitely recommend the Home Learning College to anyone wishing to study from home and gain a qualification that will look great on your CV and help further your career.
I have been more then happy with my decsion to enrol on the microsoft office course with HomeLearning, the advisors were extremely helpful and friendly. Being a single parent i was worried about how i would afford to pay the fees, the monthly installments are affordable and i didnt have to pay a large sum upfront. The tutor involved with my course has been excellent, feedback is always quick and the comments are always helpful. The course is excellent for a beginner like me, everything i need for my study is one handy place ( i believe that there are books you can purchase seperatly) although the books online are easy to read and follow.
The tutor is very friendly and help is given when needed. my whole experince so far has been positive, once i have completed this course ill definatly consider enrolling on another.
In february 2012 i enrolled for -as advertised- BTEC ADVANCED LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN TRAVEL AND TOURISM ISSUED BY EDEXCEL.
I finished in november 2012,but all i got is a silly award from home learning college.I have written several emails and made calls to student services and no one is giving me a straight answer ,about when the diploma will be issued by EDEXCEL.all i am told is that it is coming soon ,but Edexcel are very slow. However the college has changed the description of the course to A Certificate from ITT and EDEXCEL has been removed as an accrediting provider. Can someone tell me ,what is going on ?EDEXCEL ARE TELLING ME ONLY HLC CAN REQUEST FOR MY DIPLOMA. ,UNLESS THE COLLEGE GIVES ME THE PIN SLIPS.
.i applied to university and presented ucas with an assurance that i have completed BTEC level 3 Advanced diploma accredited and issued by EDEXCEL ,that is what is written on my contract with home learning college. Now they making me look like a fraud and not giving me an answer.
Can you send my certificate to me if I can’t get it from my centre?
We can’t send original certificates directly to students. This is because you have an arrangement with the centre to take the qualification, and as such they are responsible for:
Registering you to take the qualification
Teaching you the course
Assessing your achievements while you are taking the course
Claiming your certificate once you’ve finished the course.
If the certificate is to have a high educational value we need to ensure that the qualification has been rigorously tested. If we were to send certificates directly to students, without a record of your achievement, it would undermine the centre and may possibly lead employers, with whom you might apply for a job, or further education centres, with whom you may want to continue your studies, to doubt the value of our qualifications.
First started in Oct 2011 but didn't receive my course material until end of Nov as i wasn't told that i would need to make an upfront payment to get my course material until i was contacted by a course advisor. the trouble didn't stop their.....i then had problems accessing my software as the code i was given by Adobe wouldn't work....after 3months of trying to access the software i finally managed to get a valid code....with no help from Home Learning college who kept referring me back to Adobe...which then took me round in circles. not only did i start off on a bad foot but i couldn't even email my tutor as my email was blocked from his mailing list....you explain that one! when i finally contacted him...he acted as if i was the dumb one who was putting the code in, incorrectly. when i eventually sat down to do the web design material it just went over things that were no longer necessary to use and was very boring....what a waste of time!!!!! needless to say i have been offered the opportunity to change my course to something else.....hmmm we will see.
I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in the future and enrolled on a course which I soon realised wasn't for me. I received full support to alter the course and change to a different one, Criminology, and was given all the relevant information to help me through the process. Once I got started and received my course materials, I absolutely loved it. I had an amazing tutor which promptly marked my assignments and supported me from beginning to end. He also catered for different learning styles by providing online seminars alongside the printed course materials. I completed my Criminology Diploma within 6 months of changing course and I would recommend distance learning to anyone. I studied alongside working full-time and I found it was really helpful to be able to study where I feel most comfortable, at home.
Doing a course with Home Learning College was such a great experience for me. All the tutors were so helpful and very patient. Recorded live chats were fantastic, although i was not able to attend any of them but they were always accessible for me anytime at my convenience. I have completed my course and passed my final exam , Level II Certificate in Computerized Bookkeeping , 99% with Distinction. A big thank you to all the Bookkeeping tutors! :)
i completed the criminology course and never looked back
I found this course wonderful to work with. it explains itself in every question. my tutor was always there and very promt in getting back to me with any problems that i had. i would definatley recommend this course to anyone. it was very interesting and the course material was wonderful.
I did a course with the Home Learning college whilst i was made redundant.
I passed the course with a merit. the staff are friendly and on hand to help, my tutor always asnwered any questions i needed to ask and helped steer me in the right direction.
I signed up for two courses with Home Learning College in October 2011 one course was the Pyschology course and the other was the Criminolgy Course. This is the first time I have ever done anything like this so didn't have a clue what to expect. I received both course packs really quickly and was able to start them straight away. As a working parent I tried to put some time aside when my son had gone to bed to complete these courses, so I would sit down and read through them. When I saw the packs I thought what have I let myself in for? However, this is not the case, the course information is clear to understand and the Home Learning College website gives you the extra support you may need from fellow students and it is easy to use to upload your assignments. You also get your feedback from your assignments quickly and clearly from your tutors with relevent comments to your course which is great. Overall I would recommend this to anybody who asks (and those who don't) and wouldn't hesitate in doing another course from this company.
I was really happy with the service which I received from home learning college. If I needed a help my tutor was available anytime. Everything what I didn't understand in the book tutor helped me with other examples to get more clearer about situation or information which was written in the books. It was very useful course for me. All those skill which I gained successfully used at my workplace.
I am very pleased to be close to getting my first CIM qualification but I do feel that the support from my tutor could have been more than it was. From materials that really need updating to feedback from her that she never clarified or even contradicted herself on ("you're not using Harvard Referencing" was one assignment feedback, even though I was using exactly the same format as I had for my A graded assignment before...and the A graded one after that, and after that). As a graduate, I found the "how to write an assignment" webinars quite patronising and unhelpful, and there was no proper guidance on how to create the 'perfect' professional cover. For the exam piece, I was not provided with "a sample A grade assignment" and when I asked what she meant by "make your cover more professional", the only explanation was "the image looks blocked in", which is not very helpful to a non-designer. However, she did always mark my work very quickly, which enabled me to complete the course in the expected 2 years and usually answered my questions in a timely manner, if not always very clear.

I took time out to studied life coaching and has a made a major impact on my life and others around me. The course was easy to follow and the support was amazing and was given constructive feedback. The course make you look at making your own improvements in your life. It allows you to dream big and realise your dreams. It has made me go onto completing NLP diploma that its with the life coaching. It was the best money that I spent on a course and would advise anyone to take this course up.
