A very helpful and informative site for booking hostels around the world.
Many, many great features of the site and company. Flaws include, rating scales not sensitive enough...and they are often rigged by the hostels. May be better to increase the use of other objective identifiers of quality. Hostels often lie about hidden costs, and lack of facilities. This should be addressed, e.g. suprises of the hostel etc. in essence, the greatest difficulty for a user is identifying poor services, or lack of facilities, e.g. laundry, how much? Breakfast included, but still have to pay? City tax? The list goes on. Wifi quality may be beneficial to rate...important for travellers. Thats it for now. Oberall, a sensational site, which has made my travel extremely easy.

Good place great location
Accommodations are nice, staff is decent w English. Good prices for food and drink, breakfast is toast and jam. Excellent location in the heart of khao San road.

My Favorite HostelBooking website out there! 5 *****
I have been backpacking through the world for five years now and solmenly rely on hostelworld to make all my reservations. the webpage is clean and well structured. Each hostel has great systems of reviews and opinions. I wouldn't drift to any other hostel booking website.

Amazigh hostel is the right place to stay in Aljezur. The staff is very friendly and prestative. The rooms are good and have a lovely kitchen with all we need to cook. Is very well situated.

The hostel world app is great but lacks the great resources that are on the website such as guides and lists of nightclubs.

Easy to use, just can't use my Gold Card
Easy to find hostels I want, and comments from other travelers are really helpful. One thing I don't like is that even Hostelworld rewarded a free 1 month gold card for new register, but I just can't use it.

The easiest way to book your stay!
I went here online and liked what i saw after doing a little research on where i wanted to be staying at. This site really did give me pretty much all the info. i needed to make my decision and quickly book my stay. I actually did this with 2 other locations and i was done. Pretty simple and easy! Try it, you'll like it!

Perfect and complete source of hostel information
Fantastic website. Very detailed descriptions of each hostel and the traveler reviews are incredibly helpful. The ratings are very accurate and for the most part, what you see in the description is what you get when you arrive. Some of the information needs updating but overall, a very helpful service. Would've been lost planning my travels without it.

Extremely poor and unreliable service
If you have to pay a booking fee every time you book a room with hostelworld, additional to the 10% deposit they charge in advance, the minimum you can expect is that as they advertise, their bookings are 100% guarantee. Unfortunately, this is far from happening!!! Earlier in May my family and I found ourselves without a place where to stay on our first night in Tel Aviv. I raised the claim through their website and that was all I knew about them. They have completely ignored my claim and what is worst they haven't even care to remove the property -Yarden Sea Side Apartments from the system, to avoid other people to get into the same situation I was in. It is clear that despite all the fees, that other websites don't charge, the guarantee of their bookings is a matter of luck!

Reliant as my best friend saying I look good in this dress.
Hostel world is pretty much spot on with everything it has to offer. I started using this site about two months ago when I started my 6month holiday and so far not one glitch, and thankfully no surprises. The review system is very helpful as most hotels you don't know what your getting but this is an opportunity to see what it's really like through the customers eyes. I recommend this site to all my friends and I know that they all use this too. I just wish I knew of it earlier so I could have used it when I was back in Australia visiting friends in other places.

Best hostel experience possible
Absolutely loved Lisboa Central Hostel. Free food, family atmosphere and very clean. The staff were absolutely gorgeous- so giving and helpful- made us feel very welcome. Great for meeting people if you are travelling alone. THE BEST!

Urban Central is the perfect place to stay at its clean, quiet, positioned well and the staff are friendly.
If you want a place to stay that has all the ticks to being a great place then stay there because its perfect for families, groups or even just two couples needing a nice place to stay. The only negative is you have to check out by 10am which doesn't fit well when you have any hangovers :)

Poor rating system and excessive booking fee
Extensive selection of hostels but irritating that non- hostels or rooms where you need to book multiple beds come up when you search for one bed. Would be great to see what you would actually be charged given you had already entered number of guests when searching. I find booking.com now more useful for comparing prices.
Further to this the booking fee is a bit much so i would always look for same hostels on hostelbookers. Hostelbookers also have better search options to narrow hostels to what you want.
Further to this the automated overall rating on reviews is absolutely ridiculous as are the rating criteria. A lot of people look for a comfortable bed to sleep in, no such criteria in rating. Also things like character are of little significance to budget travellers whereas location is extremely important. A hostel in the most inconvenient location can still score 90% on the basis of other criteria yet a reasonable one in a good location may only score 80%. I think most travellers would still prefer the latter. I really feel averaging insignificant and significant criteria makes the whole review system frivolous.

When I search for hostel, the important thing is charge, ensuite or shared bathroom, the location.
Hostelworld provide all that I want to know.
