Horrible insurer!

They always lie you with stories like:
1) "Insurance that saves more than just money"
2) The best price from our panel of insurer is..."
If you get the renewal letter and they say "automatic renewal", send them a recorded letter in which you mention you don't carry on with them and if you still see them taking money from your account, take a legal action against them!

Financial Services Authority PLEASE READ THIS!

A complete nightmare!!! I moved home in April last year. Have emailed them, called them (which is also a nightmare!) but they continued to take the premium from my bank account! Three months after moving, I cancelled the DD. Somehow, they managed to go in again, and take another premium. AND a £25.00 fee!!! They now have a credit agency chasing me for monies THEY OWE ME! Written e mails are returned. Phonecalls, ignored...AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I was quoted a price for 3rd party fire and theft which was not bad so i took the policy (bad mistake). I was to pay over 10 months the policy had been running for 4 months when they started taking more money per month after ringing them (several times) they said my money would be in my bank that day..............18 months later and no longer with this shitty company i am still waiting for my money!!!!!.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

Absolute scam artists

We had insurance for 3 years now from ibuyeco and have normally been quite happy.

We've been paying every year for our insurance for the past 3 years.

This year we had a change of bank card and they tried to take the payment from the old card.

This declined of course, they then sent us a letter out stating that they were charging us £45 for cancelling our policy. I called them because we hadn't received or signed any contract for them this year.

I called them up immediately and explained that we hadn't received the letters and that if we pay our entire insurance now would they waive the £45 fee. All I got was I'm sorry but that fee has now been applied and you can't just pay us for your policy now without paying that £45 first.

I told them is this how they treat someone who has been with them for 3 years. I used to work in a call centre and know there is ways they can waive that fee.

Plus I deem that £45 fee is a charge for breach of contract and therefore exceeds the legal "reasonable" costs fee which most banks are limited to £12.

This is an extortionate scam, I will certainly not be buying my contents insurance from them again in the future - nor will I be using the company that referred me to them which was CompareTheMarket.

Also during the call to the customer service person regarding the £45 I got the response from her that we need to take this money to pay my wages for this phone call. I was absolutely disgusted that she said this, this was totally out of order to mention her wages being paid by the £45. Absolute scam artists - certainly will not deal with them or anyone associated with BSI again! Next time I'll be using LV, I already have a IPI policy with these and they are a lot more professional.

Ripped of For Cancillation...

I forgot to return (I agree to the terms and conditions agreement)so they slaped a £20 fine on me,I have now gone to a mobility car with free insurance so canncelled the ibuyeco policy and got slapped with a bill of £115 cancillation fee,ugh they can sing for that,when I first went with them 2 years ago I was paying £14 a month full com when I renewed june this year they wanted £29 a month you do the sums,it stinks,my advice would to stay well clear of this company.....

PS.Avon is allso in league with them charging me £4 a month..

Avoid

I took out home contents insurance with ibuyeco only to find months later that I have been signed up to two products (from companies other than ibuyeco) that I didn't request, I don't want and are unsuitable for me. I found the staff on the phone including the floor supervisor to be completely unconcerned about this and unwilling to help, saying it was my fault. I will not be renewing with them.
Also be aware that they have an automatic renewal policy on all of their products and you have to phone up to request they cancel this automatic renewal.I have done this but will be cancelling my direct debit after my last payment just to make absolutely sure I get rid of them. Be warned!

Unethical trading practises.

Bought car insurance from this company one year ago. The renewal quote seemed rather high, so found a cheaper alternative. Then discovered IbyEco had automatically renewed my insurance.

I certainly wouldn't have signed up for this option and don't recall being warned that this was the default. I cancelled before the renewal date and expected a full refund. I only received a part re-fund with no explanation.

Seems like a company that uses unethical practises so on this basis alone I wouldn't deal with them again. Even their name smacks of cynical exploitation.

Poor

I phoned to advise that I had changed the original alloy wheels and road tyres on my car to steel rims and winter tyres. Not a difficult situation one would have thought! The foreign representative I first spoke to had no idea what I was talking about and had to speak to someone else in the company on two occasions, each time putting me on hold. By this time I had been on the phone for 12 minutes. She then asked me to spell "steel rims and winter tyres"????. Being totally frustrated by this time I recalled the company to complain. Its taken another 20 minutes to get the information about the change across to them. They have absolutely no idea, or am I the only person to have fitted winter tyres to his vehicle?

No problem

Despite the comments here, I've not yet had any problem with ibuyeco for my car insurance. It was the cheapest available, and they've managed to switch my policy to a new car in this time with no fuss at all. I spoke to an Indian woman for one call, and an English man the next time I phoned so I don't believe all their call centres are foreign - and whilst a little abrupt in the way she spoke, the Indian lady was very helpful.

Can Be Expensive

I was charge £100 to transfer my insurance to another vehicle. The insurance company that they brokered was around £190 cheaper if I went direct for the same vehicle. I suspect ibuyeco will gain the reduction to the policy on top of my £100.

Will not use them in the future.

I BUY ECO CAR INSURANCE! STAY AWAY!!!!!

I BUY ECO CAR INSURANCE! STAY AWAY!!!!!! I PayD £735 2 insure my car for 12months! i have sold the car so i called them 2 cancel and get a refund! (I have had the insurance 4 2months) and there charging me £350 2 cancel!!! its a joke! so there givin me £201 back! So i have payd £534 for 2months insurance :O STAY AWAY!!

Avoid - poor service and no communication

Tried to buy home insurance on their website (after using a comparision website). Website did not confirm purchase and I never received any confirmation or policy details by email or post but my credit card was charged anyway. Spent ages arguing for refund, they were very unhelpful and very reluctant to give out any details.

AVOID THIS AWFUL COMPANY - THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY USELESS!!!!!!!!

NEVER go to 'ibuyeco' for car insurance, or any insurance for that matter. I've never known any company that is so bl**dy incompetent!!
It all started when my OH had a chip in the windscreen of his Mercedes, which he had fixed by Autoglass through the insurance.
We never heard anymore until he tried to change his insurance to another car (Audi), after he sold his Mercedes - and they said they wouldn't insure him because he'd had an accident!!!! A chip in the windscreen, an accident?
Anyway, we thought this had been resolved, then a few days later a letter arrived demanding the full amount of the 12 month policy because they said we'd cancelled the policy, which we didn't - all we wanted to do was change it to the Audi.
We then phoned them up (again!!) and they told him there was a system error and that we wouldn't be charged this money, and to cut a very long story short, they've taken well over £300 four times from our bank account (three times of which we've phoned the bank and got it refunded straight back). It happened again on Monday this week, my OH phoned them AGAIN and they assured him that they would refund the money back into our account on Thursday.
Guess what? No refund in our account today!! The OH has just phoned them and they said he needs to fill in an Indemnity Form before we can get the refund!! Why the hell didn't they say this on Monday, and why are they only sending the form out today?
The one time when they 'helped themselves' to over £300, we weren't aware it had happened, and my OH on his way to work, got petrol, went to pay for it, and his debit card was declined. He was nearly arrested because of this, and it was only because he was in uniform and showed his ID card to the guy, that they agreed for him to come back later and pay (which I did).
So NEVER go to 'ibuyeco' car insurance, they are TOTALLY useless!!
We are definitely going to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Services, as this is ridiculous. My OH has faxed a long letter of complaint to ibuyeco complaints dept at least four times now, and tried to phone them loads of times, and they never answer their phones - so he leaves a message and they never phone back. I only gave this company 1 star in the ratings on here because you have to on this review - otherwise they wouldn't be getting any stars!!! DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THIS COMPANY - STEER WELL CLEAR!!!!!

AVOID! Worst customer experience ever! (1 star is one too many!)

DO NOT USE!

I cancelled my policy as i changed car and the quote for the new car tripled and it was more effective to move than stay - they charged me a £555 fee to cancel (I was in month 3 so it still worked out cheaper to pay this than the new ridiculous quote - annoying but i'd get over it)

Next, my new reputable insurance cover require a notice of my no claims bonus, I was told by iBuyeco they would send so called to chase only to be told they thought they'd sent it, and if i wanted a new one it would be £10 admin fee. They hadnt even sent the first one so funny how she felt this £10 super replacement cover note would arrive. She argued with me one the phone for 15 mins (0844 number so thats the £10 straight off) wouldnt pass me to her supervisor and claimed the post in my area must have been slow.

DO NOT USE! Im sure they all sit around wearing masks! Last time i venture to an online site, they offer low prices and talk about eco premises but really the terms and conditions are out to con you from day one.

As for the £10 to reprint a bit of paper! Either their stationary supplier is ripping them off or its all set up for profiteering! The latter i suspect!

I told them I was going to write this review on all forums and they laughed, shame on you ibuyeco!

AVAOID - APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE

I stupidly went with IBUYECO as they were the cheapest - it is now very clear why, thier call centre staff have no manners, a severe lack of understanding of the English language(bit odd - call centres are based in India, with locals manning the phones yet they all seem to have very English names - Edward, Shaun to name but a few! - do they really give false names??) Call backs promised by managers are not returned, nor refunds promised after having taken a direct debit of over £100.00 instead of the agreed £27.43 - without informing me first.
PLEASE do not give this company your business or money, they do not deserve a penny of it.

Cowboys!!!!!!!!!

, Currently preparing documentation to take this company to court! applied for import insurance for a Pajero, quoted a price which I accepted, two weeks into the insurance they sent me a letter saying i hadn't given proof of my no claims insurance policy, i sent it straight away, guess what? not sufficient for thier needs, premium jumped from £350.00 to £1094.00!!! yet the same document was accepted by my present insurance company as proof as no claims. they have now put me in the hands of a debt collection company for excess of £400.00, for less than two weeks cover! in addition I cancelled the cover, told the advisor that I hadn't used the vehicle, but they could keep the deposit as cancelletion fee. They tried on three seperate occassions to extract money from my bank account for three different amounts! ranging from £30+ to £400+ I am waiting for hard copies from my bank to take this further to the Insurance Ombudsman and watchdog unless they retract thier demands I will take this all the way, be aware...they did not fullfil thier contractrual agreement with me, and did not supply the service I expected, yet I complied with all thier demands i.e. proof of no claims bonus, and return of hard copies of policies,

Be very very wary

I have nothing good to say about this company. The call centre staff are liars, argumentative and are rude. I purchased car insurance on the basis of price, the actual policy document varies from the 'sample' you see on the website when you sign up (yes I did read it and print it out - currently stored in my safe). When challenged I could cancel for a fee!!!!

Also note they WILL automatically renew the insurance regardless of the claim you can ask them not to. I only required 6 months cover as I will be immigrating. Noting this clause I called them up to stop the automatic renewal. I was told (contrary to the policy doc) that they WILL renew, they WILL attempt to take payment from the card and after I get renewal docs I can cancel if I can prove I have other insurance. Not much bloody good if I am 13000 miles away. If the payment bounces (which it will) then they will hand over to debt collectors. Charming company.

I strongly recommend AVOID or at least search the net and read all the reviews you can find before purchasing. I wish I had.

Avoid at all costs

I was covered by this company when, one day while sitting stationary, I was involved in a 7 car pile up. I was positioned number 4 in this mess. The driver at the back who ploughed into us all evenutally accepted liability but during the process my renewal came through. It had gone from £400 a year to £1300 a year, I complained but they wouldnt have any of it "you have an open claim" etc etc

So I paid it thinking that when its settled I will return to normal and get back anything I overpaid - WRONG

Once the whole thing was resolved (which took 10 months) I called to get my premium adjusted back down -
"best we can do is £1200" !!!! They say
"What? It want my fault, the other guy accept full responsibilty" I say
"yes, but you are more of a risk now!!"
"OK I want to cancel" I say
"that will be an additional £350"

Seriously, please avoid these guys
