The rental service is great as the vans are parked in convenient locations. In the case of my last hire it was just 10 minutes walk away from my home.
The "check out" procedure is very fast compared to conventional rentals.
The vans are clean and in good condition mechanically, though the outside of the vans have lots of dents, scraps and scratches.
Digital fuel gauges would be handy as it's sometimes hard to work out how much fuel to put into the van when returning it, so it would be handy if there was an indicator of how many litres you've used since the start of the booking.
I came across ICANHIRE after searching online for a van to hire at short notice. The registration process was quick and easy and only needs to be done once. I've never had trouble finding cars or vans to hire when I need them, even at short notice. They have a good range of vehicles, which are conveniently located around my local area. Unlike most hire companies, with ICANHIRE, you're not restricted to picking up and returning vehicles during office hours and all you need is your mobile phone to gain access. I've found ICANHIRE are always cheaper when compared to quotes from other companies and their pricing is straightforward, with everything except fuel included in the one price - and there is no mileage limit! Highly recommended :)
I used icanhire for the first time a week ago and I had a great experience. When I booked the vehicle I spoke to someone who was very clear and concise in what would happen and it took very little time to get everything booked. On the day I used the vehicle, I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and simple it was to get use of the vehicle using the automated system. The vehicle itself was in good condition and all issues were laid out in the log book. The only issue I had was that there was less than a quarter of a tank in te van but I called the helpline and they said to leave the same amount in when I returned it which was fine. All in all it was a great experience and I highly recommend icanhire!
I've used this company many times and whilst the first time can appear to be daunting (not having any one direct to speak to and a pin system to open the vehicles) once you're used to the system it beats any other system quite frankly! The team are also on hand 24/7 to give rapid help on the go and they seem quite lenient for instance I could change my 24 hour rental period to four hours later and hour before I was due to rent it with no fuss and no extra charge. I would like to see more location choices and a bigger selection of vehicle choice but other than that cannot complain.
I was dubious about the concept initially but after a short set up call everything worked smoothly - van was local and was able to collect it at a time to suit me, good concept which works - not a lot else to say....
I was surfing goggle to find my previous van hiring company contact number. Somehow my eye caught a sight of icanhire.com. Quickly looked at the reviews and found everyone one was happy to use their service except some one got disappointed because of long wait on the phone to speak to the customer service department. I filled out the booking form and waited for their call but did not get the call that evening. I received the call only the next morning although they say they call back in 30 minutes or quicker after we submit the booking form online. The next morning I cancelled the booking made to another company and decided to go ahead with this new way of hiring the van without meeting a member of staff when they called me back.
I was charged only the money as stated in the website. I drove more than 250 miles on the day but there was no any extra charges as this was unlimited mileage scheme. Quite easy to follow the process to get into the van, just need your mobile. All instruction comes in the form of text messages and emails. The best part to me was I had to go to my work at 7:30 am the next morning so I went to the same place to return back the van at mid night. I would either have to take the morning off in my work or pay a day extra to the van company if I would not be able to return the van that night. Followed the van return process sent in the text and jobs done in a minute.
I am very happy with their service and recommend to all I know to hire from them. However, if there could be more customer service attendants this could be faster and convenient for all of us.
I really wasn't sure, right up to the moment I arrived at the van location (a roadside spot less than a mile from my home), what I was going to experience, as a first time user of icanhire. Plenty of text message support, and a reasonable location sent by text and e-mail. A very tastefully liveried Transit LWB was easy to find, and the unlocking process was a simple case of following instructions on the phone - you do need to take a note of your unique PIN No and Booking reference. Once in, I immediately grabbed the damage report book, and made sure that all of the (very minor) dings and scrapes were accounted for - and they were. Unlock the key safe, check the fuel level and off we go. The van was a good condition throughout, with absolutely nothing to complain about. I returned with 15 minutes to spare 2 days later, popped the keys back in the safe, and repeated the pick up process to get the van remotely locked. An extremely pleasant customer experience, with the invoice arriving by e-mail after the van was returned.
On registration, you will have to go through a few phone calls to validate your ID through the DVLA. This was the only 'waiting' time involved, but they do tell you how long your wait will be, and you only need to do that once. The next time you use the site, you will sail through the booking process as an approved driver. All in all, a brilliant alternative to virtually every other hire company. Will definitely recommend, and will use again.
We have used ican hire 3 times this years. Me details were saved on the system so there was no hassle of going through checks. They are so reasonably priced I would not use anyone else for hire as the service is excellent.
My overall experience was brilliant arrived at the vehicle and unlocked first time. There wasn't a damage report book in the van so I phoned then to report a few scratches as I didnt know if they were new or old. This was the only hold up during my rental as I was in a que for about 20 mins. Apart from this the whole process was simple and easy . This is the second time I have used them and I will definately use them again .
My overall experience with Icanhire was excellent. I was late coming back from London with the van as I got stuck in traffic. I called up the company and told them; they were understanding and gave me extra time to return the vehicle. I did have a problem at first with the unlocking system when I arrived at the vehicle. Even though I was standing right next to the van it took me three attempts to unlock it. There must have just been a glitch with the system. Overall quick and easy experience. Would definitely use the company again.

A fresh and reassuring way to hire a vehicle. Most of the contact is by recorded message and this obviously cuts down on cost and overheads. Even so, I was confident that if there were any problems, they could be resolved quickly and competently. The van I have now used twice is conveniently parked 2 minutes walk from my house and the particular transit model is comfortable and adaptable.
icanhire have come up with a brilliant and original idea for renting a van. Forget trekking to a hire centre in the middle of nowhere to pick up a van and then rushing back through rush hour traffic to return it in time. Instead, all you have to do is book the van online and then pick it up from a street address near you. It's so simple!
Once you've booked the van, they call you up immediately to check your details and confirm the booking. The lady on the phone was friendly and helpful, but best of all she didn't waste time asking pointless questions. Quick and unfussy.
After that, you get detailed instructions on how to pick up the van. These were very easy to follow... once at the vehicle, you simply call a number and they unlock it remotely and there you go! The van is yours for the rental period stated.
The best part of the whole experience is that, unlike with other companies, there are no hidden costs. I was charged exactly what the website stated. The last time I rented a van with another company, I turned up on the day only to be charged a premium for being a young driver... maybe understandable if I had just turned 18, but at 23, with 5 years no claims and a clean licence, it just seemed patronising.
Also, the rental charge is for one day. But an actual day... 24 hours. So you don't have to pay for two days just because you rented it for the evening and returned it the next morning.
I'm a very happy customer... I won't be looking anywhere else next time.

Making the online booking was simple.
Also straightforward was the courteous call-back which involved a 3-way talk to DVLA to check my licence.
On the day the van was there at the expected location but the automated access process failed to recognise my booking number and, after several attempts, I had to phone for assistance, and found myself in a queueing system that took nearly 45 minutes before I was given remote access to the vehicle. It was a repeat at the end of the day although fortunately I was second in the queue and had to wait only two or three minutes for the van to be remotely locked. I was told I would receive, but never did, a message indicating the amount of fuel in the vehicle at the start of my rental.
The rental price is good, and if remote access issues and speed of telephone response can be improved then it would be a more highly rated rental scheme.
The vehicle was reasonably clean, and was a delight to drive with plenty of responsive pulling power. I did, however, report that a front tyre was in poor condition and a 'service now' icon was up from the start.
Notwithstanding the problems, I would rent again, but ensure I have time to spare to collect and return the vehicle! It may be worth noting that, in the event of an accident, it is the same number I had to phone that one needs to phone and in such circumstances finding yourself at the end of a very long queue would be more than the last straw!
I have used Icanhire three times now and I will definitely use them again. They are one of the cheapest rental companies that I could find with a really simple way of booking in an out of your van. That said make sure you have battery power in your phone!
The vans may not always be the newest but they were all in good working order and if I'm honest i'd be a little more nervous driving a brand new van without a mark on it. All in all if you are confident in relying on your phone and you want a cheap and reliable van these guys fit the bill.
I've used I canhire a couple of times now, and every time have found them exemplary.
Their vehicles have always been clean, well-serviced and well maintained.
My only comment would be when you book also check where the nearest petrol station is, as the vehicles are often bordering on empty when you collect them - if you're aware in advance it's not a problem, just remember to account for 5-10mins to fuel up before you start.
This is the first time we have hired a van and we've had a great experience! We were able to find a vehicle 10min away from home and the process of unlocking etc was so easy! The vehicle was in good condition and drove like a dream. We were able to collect our items and deliver to our home no problem. Knowing how easy this all was I will definitely use icanhire.com again and refer to friends and family!

the whole process was easy from start to finish, the price was good and the van was perfect for my needs.

I just rented a icanhire van to help my mate move house. Was very impressed with the automated service which was smooth, fast and felt reliable. Also the van was in excellent condition and a pleasure to drive. Sadly the previous occupant had 'forgotten' to remove their rubbish which was slightly disappointing but I don't hold this against icanhire and I removed it so the next person can enjoy the van as mug as I did. I will definitely be using this service again. It was local, fast, easy and the cheapest available :) well done icanhire for creating such a great product, brand and service - can't wait to hire from them again!
This was my first time to hire from icanhire and I was surprise how easy and kwik is. Excellent customer service and van was just across the road I live.I booked for four days,but I used only for two days and the refund the money for the rest two days. I'll recommend the icanhire without a doubt.
I chose this company because I wanted out of office hours van hire. The automated service went without a hitch and the van was clean and in good condition. I could deliver it back without being restricted to office hours. The only down point was, when I picked up the van a resident of the road came out to complain about the van being parked outside her house. All in all a really good van hire service, which I would use again and recommend to friends.
I often hire from here, and i must say it is really simple and easy to get hold of a van. Yes it can be annoying when you need to find one close last minute and their all booked up but for the price and service its not hard to see why everyone uses them.
The vans are usually in very good condition both drive wise and cleanliness, and the staff are very good at handling rare complaints with a good attitude and a fair solution.

Searched for a van at a location closest to me on their web site, reserved it, had my details verified by phone call. They verify your driving license by chatting to you and the DVLA via conference call (during DVLA office hours of course), then confirm the booking once payment details are sorted. You are then sent a text with the vehicle's exact location and an email of the procedure of what to do when you get to the van.
Basically you find the van, call their automated service which asks you to type in your driver ID and PIN numbers, along with your booking reference which are all emailed to you with the collection and return procedure. It then remotely unlocks the van for you and the keys are inside in a safe (combination is texted to you) or the glove box. After you drop t back it's simply a case of going through another automated service to close out the hire. Simples!
I can hire have developed a new automated van hire system that avoids trips to a hire centre with all the attendant delays.You do everything online or on the phone, this results in lower hire costs. The telephone support team were all very professional.

Excellent experience, they are customer focussed in providing a good quality service to their users. Like others I was a bit sceptical about picking a van up at the side of the road, however it worked! The automated service is a brilliant idea, very simple to follow and use. The idea of having no paperwork to complete was unique but refreshing and now I can use the van again and again with them holding my details...

Second time I had use the service and was even smoother this time since they had my details already. Would defo use again when I next need to book a Van. The only thing you have to judge is how much fuel to put back in when taking it back :). the automated phone system is great to making it a smooth process to sort it all out yourself and no annoying paper work :)
