This is the third time I've used Icanhire and once again they didn't let me down! The van was exactly where they said it would be, it was clean and the automated phone system worked as smoothly as always. The instructions emailed/messaged to me were spot on and were extremely clear. I would recommend this company/ van hire system to anyone.
We've hired from icanhire.com a few times now and can honestly say its the easiest way to hire a van. Always reliable and always a hassle free hire. Even extending the hire was easy. Great prices so wouldn't even think of going elsewhere now.
I only needed a van for a short period of time and didn't really want the responsibility of parking it up over night. Especially as I live in a permit only area. So parking is often difficult so this system was ideal. I was curious and a little nervous that finding the van and then accessing would be difficult but I was completely wrong. The only problem I had was that I am useless with my phone and can't access the messages whilst I am on the phone, so having phoned up I then had to ring off and write the numbers down I had been sent (ID code etc). After this minor hiccup it was just so easy. The van was relatively clean ( a few odd twigs in the back) an on board broom would be a useful addition to ensure it is swept out at the end of the rental. I used my phone as a Sat Nav and this made life even more simple. I would definitely use this company again. No hassle renting - fab!
As a first time user of this van hire service I expected something complicated with hiring the vehicle, door operating and key set up but everything was simplistic...what I really liked about it was that the vehicle was near home, easy to use, I could take it at the time I wanted throughout the day, drop it off when I liked as long as I was in my hire timeframe. I was really impressed with their speedy service and the wonders of technology used. Will definitely use the service again and again. Great thanks.
Done a fair bit of van driving in my time - and as london goes with all those narrow streets you have to take things careful - a few dents in the side from past users - but I'm not in it for fashion I'm moving. The fact these guys undercut zip - with no joining fees- good computer system - and friendly after hours support team on phone. I even extended my usage - no problem and they only charged me for time used.
And undercut all the opposition in my area.
Even offering my services to my mates when they shift - once in the system you can rebook in just a few clicks.
The condition of the vans - really poor and not looked after. The first Van had a smashed passenger side mirror - dangerous to drive. The second van the roller door was faulty - we called them they then turned up 5 hours later. The next thing we knew was when £750 was taken out of my account - they said we had damaged the door. After many calls and emails even though we had provided proof that we had not damaged the door the Director C Cox stated he will be taking us to court for his costs. In all the time in dealing with companies I have never had an experience such as this. I have requested many times information from them and they have refused - C Cox was rude and does not care for customer service or even the law. The company which I believe is in decline will cease trading just like the 12 companies C Cox was a director off before
I was use I can hire every week, and found that it way better than any other big name companies like HERTZ, EUROPCAR, and others. Straight forward no hassle, online booking, just pick up and drop off where you picked it up, fully automated, no human intervention whatsoever unless emergency. 3rd time I've used icanhire, and I have to say it's so simple. This time the van was even within walking distance from my home! I would really recommend icanhire BUT I don't want too many people to know about them, as I want to get a van next to my house next time. Great service, even when I had to call the office about something else they were professional and understanding.
I'll admit to a few reservations the first 2 times I booked a transit as the business model was unfamiliar to me and I fully expected to be stuck with a raft of 'small print' charges.
Happy to say that after 3 trouble free rentals, icanhire seem to do pretty much exactly as they claim. Additionally, when I have had to talk to customer service, they have been UK-based, helpful, and reachable on a geographic published number after a very reasonable hold time.
Rented one of icanhire - Ford Transit 85 T280S FWD van. The whole experience from booking the van, the communication and details of collection and returning the van were spot on. I had no problems with the van or any part of this process. Van was in good condition and was clean which made the experience more pleasurable. Would definitely use again. And highly recommend icanhire. Infact am in need of another van for this weekend so one gues where I am going......icanhire! Great company. Thanks
I spoke to a friend about Icanhire and loved the idea, the whole process was so easy and suited me perfectly. The transit was spotlessly clean and ran perfectly, the lady I spoke to on customer service was very helpful and when I was running late gave me an extra hour for free, I liked the fact there were no hidden charges and I just paid exactly what it said on the quote. A fantastic service which I will now be using frequently for my business.
I was delighted at the concept, like everybody else, no queueing, no travel to an office in town etc. The reality was somewhat different from the ideal scenario a lot of other reviewers have experienced. Firstly it took several days for the company to contact me to confirm my booking, which was frustrating, as I was left dangling, not knowing whether to go elsewhere for a van. Once contact had been made, it was all fine until I encountered the actual vehicle I had hired. It would be kind to say it had seen better days. The Transit was older than I had expected, and had almost 100,000 miles under its belt. It was pretty battered, it's a good job I didn't need a smart van, but it would have been nice to get a newer, less used one. Plus, it was absolutely filthy, inside and out. The previous user had left food wrappers, mud, bits of old food etc in the cab and the back of the van was dirty too, with old screws and muck in the corners. Not a good start. Nevertheless, I thought I'd just get on with it, as it was pissing with rain and I had to get going to my destination. Then I discovered that the key fobs, one for cab, one for rear, were not working, batteries dead in both. I could not open the rear or side doors, which is obviously crucial. I phoned customer services and spoke to a guy (who sounded like I had woken him up) and he apologised but didn't have a solution. He did make a note of the state of the van though. By this time I was an hour late, very wet, and pissed off. Another call, another bloke, and I had a solution to opening the back, a bit of jiggery pokery with the key in the driver door. Fair enough, but how would I possibly know that??!!
I couldn't remotely lock the van, but I was so fed up by now that I got on the road and put it behind me. I was pleasantly surprised, the van, despite its age, was good to drive, plenty of power and mechanically sound. A result, after all the crap previously. From initially fuming at the incompetence of this company, over the day I mellowed, despite the M25 traffic, and realised that perhaps it was just bad luck that I got the old van with the high mileage, in the pouring rain, with the broken key fobs and the dodgy door locks and the dents and scrapes, and the filthy interior, and the whistle at fifty mph plus. Bad luck, that's all. I will try them again, but I have been warned. Next time I will be more cautious. I could have gone to Enterprise and got a new Trafic for about the same price, but that would have been boring and safe, and I would have missed out on all that fun. Not too bad, I say, it's a refreshing change from the norm, and next time I may get lucky.
Easy to use & economical. The telephone automated service for unlocking & locking the vehicle is excellent but if you have any queries the staff are very helpful. Good van. I minor problem I had the first time I tried to book has been resolved. The first time I used it, I did not have my driving licence with me when I tried to make the booking - had to phone customer services with the details - I wasn't happy with queuing system for reply - seemed to yo-yo down to 2 secs for an answer then back to 3 mins etc. for about 15 mins. Very happy with the service when I got thru. Second time I hired, I wanted to change my phone number - telephone queueing system much improved, no problem at all. If I'd had my licence number with me when I tried to make the booking the first time & if I had known I should use the same mobile number for making the booking and the automated service for unlocking, then I would not have had any problem. Overall this is an excellent service.
I have used icanhire several times now (sometimes renting a van for a couple of hours, other times for a whole day or longer) and the service has been faultless from start to finish every time.
Great vans, convenient locations, simple online booking and faultless pick up/drop off all via phone. It just makes everything so easy.
I must give an extra mention to the customer services. I once left something in a van and realised later on... the customer services rep contacted everybody that had used the van after me until I was able to track down the missing item. Furthermore, last time I needed to switch the van I wanted to rent - less than 5mins after contacting support through the online form, I was provided with amended booking details. In this day an age, it's almost unheard of to receive such amazing customer support online!
I have raved about the service to anyone who needs to rent a van and (until they've experienced it themselves) nobody can believe the way the system (remote locking/unlocking etc) works, but the most amazing thing is the fact that such a modern system is implemented so perfectly. The future of van rental is here!
Just what I was after! I needed a van for a few hours to move house. Looked around for a while at all the normal routes, hire companies, man with van etc. but I struggled with the cost/convenience ratio! either it was expensive or loads of hassle! The found icanhire who had a van around the corner. Never used it before and apart from the initial licence checks etc on the phone it was as simple as peas. Find the van, ring up the automated line to unlock it, use it, return to the parking spot, ring the automated line again to lock it. Convenience made the cost well worth it! Will definitely be using them again.
Marvellous experience, so easy to use. Brilliant customer service, really helpful. I hired a lwb transit van, and was slightly scared at size, but it was so easy to drive and well maintained. I would definitely use again, just wished they did cars too!
Went through the whole process, luckily I read the terms & conditions while I was waiting for a call back. For "insurance reasons" they don't rent to entertainers or musicians. Very disappointing & a waste of my time.
fantastically organised operation...so convenient as you don't have to deal with any paperwork. You turn up at the time you want the van and return it when you want. so easy to use. I would recommend to everyone! I used a van for 5 hours and it was so easy and hassle-free. I was able to collect down the road from where I live, I left my car in the spot the van was parked while I was using the van. Effortless!
