They do help provide some peace of mind that someone is minding the store, so to speak. If I have one criticism, it is the alerts. I have received alerts twice in the last 2 months. It is still not clear from the "details" of the alert as to what triggered it in either instance. In both cases, one of my creditors was listed (presumably that company listed has either run a credit check with one of the credit bureaus or reported to them, but it is unclear to me which is the case - that is not explicitly stated). Given the lack of details, it is not immediately obvious to me if there is something about which I should be concerned, and I am left to try to infer what was the trigger.
The only thing I can say bad about identity guard is that the iPhone 5 has been out for an entire year now and they still don't have an app that takes advantage of the extra real estate on the screen. If this were updated I would give them 5/5 stars.
Recent member and was looking to receive my first monthly update. Called support because I couldn't find the link to initiate the update and get the report. Was informed that although I was right that this is the day I can get an update, I can't get it until after the exact TIME I received my last one - it's time sensitive. Why? A little too restrictive in my opinion and I suggest IdentityGuard review this policy. It would be simpler to just set the system clock to 1201AM of the day of the eligible update otherwise you put customers in the position of sliding their update times and subsequently the days. I recommend you just key the updates to the day and not the day and time.
Called tried to get monthly updates instead of every 3 months they said i had to cancel first and redo my subscription so ill probably just cancel and not go back
Love the service, but I paid for my wife services on the same day that I paid for mine.Exact same package. She recieves a monthly update and I did not. Hmmmmm. Not a good start to the service. I will see how this plays out.
The whole time I had this credit monitoring service I thought that it was reporting up to date information from the bureaus. That was, until I paid off a chunk of bills and for 3 months received no updates. I finally went to each credit bureau directly to dispute the information just to find that the updates had actually already been made on their end. When I called Identity Guard to ask why my identity Guard report wasn't accurate to my credit bureau report, they said that their reports only get updated once every 3 months. What?? What's the point of paying for a service that isn't even accurate but once every 3 months? Also, I found out that the credit score isn't actually your credit score. It's one that they comprise based on a review of your credit report.
I felt a bit ripped off after learning this information since I had specifically paid for this type of service to closely monitor my report. Since that isn't the case with Identity Guard I will be cancelling my service.
They got 2 stars because I did get a view of my report and when I did call in, the customer service was friendly and professional despite the information she relayed.
I love this service and especially love to track my credit scores. I used the simulator to see what my score would be if I paid off my credit cards. I paid them off but currently I am still seeing credit reports and scores from July, and my creditors report monthly. Other than that, this is a great service to have!
I was totally amazed. When I signed up for this service I thought I would only be viewing my credit scores, but after I seen exactly what all Identity Guard had to offer I was pleasantly surprised. I seen things I had no idea were even there. I always wondered why I was being denied credit, So now with this new found information I can begin to work my way to a better credit score. Thank you Identity Guard.
Love the monitoring you offer. GREAT SERVICES!
Hate - Tried to update billing information five times on the site and was still billed to the wrong card. :( Still not sure if I get an update monthly on my credit report from all 3 or what I am recieving. If I am going to pay for this service I guess I need to figure this out!
I have been an Identity Guard customer for several years (my wife as well). As we both have been victims of identity theft in the past we found it necessary to have a service to monitor our credit. It has done a worthy job of that, monitoring our credit and allowing us to check out credit score quickly.
For the price paid, I feel like they could offer a complimentary 3 in 1 credit report quarterly or semi annually, as I believe they used to in the past a couple years ago. This was a huge diminishment of services without a price reduction in my opinion. Finally, when I was doing a refi on my house the mortgage company told me of something on my credit report that appeared to be just a case of the clerk at a local county courthouse typing in the wrong information. I thought this would be something rather simple to rectify and I further thought Identity Guard would handle this for me as part of their service. Well, they did not nor could they even provide a good accurate number or POC for the courthouse. Yes, I was able to Google it and find it myself and do the hard work myself, but I honestly believed that for almost $200/year I should be getting more than just a credit monitoring service with the ability to see my credit score, which in essence is what I get. As a result, I am giving serious considerations to evaluating some other services for the cost-benefits (e.g. Lifelock).
Well, it'd be great if they'd answer the phone. I want to cancel my service but I can't get ahold of anyone to do this. My credit is so bad monitoring it is like watching the Titanic sink so its a waste of money. But I needed the credit reports and this website was listed as one of the best so I chose it.
I switched away from FCR.com when I realized they had my score all wrong. Their mistake caused me to negotiate for my recent car purchase thinking my credit score was about 100 pts lower than it actually was! I love the car I bought, but I'm sure I could have negotiated better terms. This seems like a decent service, although it would be nice if there were more robust planning tools, although I realize that isn't exactly what this service is for. The only other complaint I have is that your app is not compatible with Android 4.2. Key Lime Pie will be out in a couple months... may want to hurry up on that, lest you look out of touch with recent tech, which I would think an identity theft prevention service would want to avoid.
I have been with Identity Guard for a number of years through my bank, which has now cancelled the service. I have had no problems with getting my reports monthly and so when my bank discontinued this service, we were given the option to go directly to Identity Guard. I have been satisfied with their serve and until I experience major problems with them, I will continue with them.
Also curious why Credit.com shows my Experian credit score of 636 while Identity Guard shows 563. That's a helluva difference and Credit.com referred me to Identity Guard. What am I to do now... pay a 3rd party for a 3rd opinion? And these scores do NOT correlate to those seen by mortgage companies, banks and auto finance people.
I really liked what your site seems to be offering me even though I have yet to discover the benifits of what your site can really do for me. I could use alittle assistance in getting my protective gear set up and used properly on. I have dabled inthe past with a few identity sites but yours seems more directly benificial towards my current needs. I have no prior knowledge of the full capacity that ur site do for me so any help(directly) will benifit our future business together. Thanks!
I believe in your services but I don't understand why it took the banks contacting me about my identity being compromised then me calling Identity Guard to inform them of this and to make sure I had done everything possible with my accounts so this person couldn't pursue my identity for further use.
I did receive advice of what to do from there, but why wasn't I alerted before the bank institutions? Two days had past from when I was getting the calls from the banks and when I made Identity Guard aware of this.
I will still use Identity Guard for extra protection but a little confused as to when the level of protection begins.
After researching, I'm sure I read I can update my credit report and score on a daily basis. Now it appears I can only update my report/score once a month. That's disappointing. That was the main draw to Identity Guard since I am in the market currently for a mortgage loan. Waiting 30 days is too long for an update. I was considering canceling another credit service I use, but maybe not now!
Credit scores do reflect banks, auto loan, insurance company's searches. Outstanding balances on CC reported quarterly and not current. I have been Identity Guard a long time
I have read the reviews and decided to “check-it-out”, because of the 30-day free trial.
The data seems consistent with other services of which I have access. I was actually surprised that this service gave a wider breadth of information than that of other services I already have … a more complete review of what lenders “could” see about me.
Although I just signed up today and cannot talk specifically about the issues raised with customer service, I can definitely tell you that the FICO numbers I received are not consistent across any service that I have received from any source … not just this service.
All FICO Scores retrieved on 08/04/2013
- Identity Guard (Equifax): 797
- (Other) (Equifax): 795
- Equifax : 764
Although the details in all three reports are consistent, this service shows debt ratios in the Score Details section under Negative Factors much higher than anticipated compared to the others. This can be attributed to outdated/closed loan information not being current in their system; but it does not appear to have affected the FICO score adversely.
VERY PROFESSIONAL, INFORMATIVE! Gives you peace of mind knowing this company is guarding and protecting your personal information and will alert you to any and everything directly and/or indirectly related to your account!
I signed up. Cool! I needed to provide more info about myself to get access to my credit history. Cool!
After all is done, I still dont have access to my credit score.
I was told to give 24 to 48 hours for my score to appear. Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cant you just push a button and grant me access?!?!?!?!
When I asked why it would take 24 to 48 hours, I was told that was a generic amount of time for the issue to become fixed!
Long story short, I just wanted to know what my score was so I can decide if I need a card or not!
I recommend anybody reading this, if you have a problem up front, dont waste your time. Many companies offer the exact service at no cost!
Right after posting this review, I received my credit score.
I have used Identity Guard for years now, which has been great, and when I got married I added an account for my wife. However when her account was created they needed a copy of our marriage certificate to prove the name change. They called us several times and asked us to fax in a copy of the document, which we did at least three times (with fax confirmation). Apparently nobody checks for faxes because they kept calling and then eventually CANCELLED her membership. I'm in the process of getting the membership restored but the fact they cancelled her membership (which we've been paying monthly for) over a marriage certificate may be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of. Very unhappy customer right now.
I was happily surprised that the CS rep is willing to go through your account /credit history and explain why certain events occur. Also was able to save some money with an upgraded service level. Go for it!
I believe that every adult should have this service. I have changed some of my bad financial habits based on the scores that are delivered to me every quarter and it has paid off. The only 2 things I wish this service had is a lock box for passwords that was easy to access from any mobile device and the chance to pull your credit score for free off cycle one/two times per year. There have been a couple of times where I was ready to make a big purchase (car) where I would have liked to know my current credit score without having to pay. Wish list aside, I love Identity Guard!
The service Identity Guard offers is a valuable one for our times. I grew up in the days when identity theft was not even a remote consideration in anyone's mind. But since the onset of all our great and glorious technology, many things have changed. So, In steps Identity Guard to help fill that void and make us all safer.
I believe your experience with this company will be something you'll appreciate, and that will educate you on what this whole security phenomenon is about. I must say their website is easy to navigate as well. Please visit and learn all you can to protect yourself and your family, and then give them a call to get all your questions answered.
First I want everyone to know that Identity Guard rose to five stars, thanks to Patricia Schaefer, a customer service supervisor, who was essential in putting out a fire when my service was inaccessible for a while. Her professionalism in resolving the problem made my experience with Identity Guard something I wont forget for a long time. I will no doubt will continue to pay the money for a premier credit monitoring service and a outstanding customer service supervisor.
She walked me through some pages so that I could find everything. She did not rush me and encouraged me to have an organized dispute process with the accounts that are listed as "I", individual, which are two accounts from the company where I served as President. That company went out of business when the factory was flattened in the May 2008 earthquake in China. The two creditors, Advanta and Chase, told me since I signed the credit forms, even if it was in my official capacity as President of the LLC, that I had to pay the $60K, personally responsible. The companies did not even try to contact the owner even though I provided his name and address. Hope this effort work. Right now my credit score shows Weak because of those two charged off corporate accounts.
I signed up with a 30 day free trial and was informed that in order to verify my identity I would need to provide additional information before I would be given access to my credit reports. Fine - not a problem! It actually made me feel more secure with them as a company. Within a couple days I faxed the requested info but was informed that what I sent was unacceptable. The representative was professional but unclear as to exactly what would be acceptable. My confusion was cleared up as soon as I spoke to a rep in the Verification Department and the proper items were again faxed. This time I was told that my driver license came through too dark and to send it again. I planned to go to Kinko's to have it professionally copied and faxed, but honestly I had important things to attend to - like life! Another week or so and I received a call from an employee that was very friendly and helpful - she identified herself as working in the Verification Department. I explained everything to her, she looked over my info and asked me questions about my past history and finally told me she would remove the "hold" and verify my identity based on our conversation. I should have gotten her name because after another week I still couldn't access anything online. The last time I spoke with them was a week or so after that. I called, explained the whole situation, was transferred to the Verification Department, explained everything again, was put on hold.... but got disconnected instead! Since I was driving and fairly over the whole thing I just waited to be called back. Unfortunately, the representative I was speaking to (the one that hung up on me) didn't find it necessary to call me back. It would have been nice. I've been extended the courtesy by other companies in the same situation. I was on the phone associated with my account and I just couldn't bring myself to call back and have to explain to another representative every single detail from the beginning AGAIN. At that point my free 30 day trial had expired anyway. I never did get to see my credit reports. My experience was bad, but I won't say the company is bad. Sh*t happens.... and I'm not out any coin.
I love this company and appreciate everything, however, it is very frustrating to deal with the recurring technical issues. Particularly annoying is the payment history button which should allow us to view the last 12 or 24 months and it never works. Many times there are screens that look like part of one screen is sitting on top of the previous screen and you cannot see either one very well. I have called and complained and the customer service is excellent, however, when is this going to be fixed? My family member worked for the company and said the same technical issues are there from 2 years ago! FIX THESE ISSUES PLEASE!
Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing service. Just have some technical issues every now and then and it's very frustrating when you wait all month to monitor your score while you have a company working on your credit..then you login and can't see it. I had a problem before that every time I logged in it prompted me to call customer service to verify my identity. I appreciated the privacy protection, but at the same time having to call every time, then wait on hold, then still have to wait 24 hours after they reset it to be able to view my scores...was not fun. They refunded me for the month I missed getting my score, so customer service here is very good. But then today I logged in on the day of my new scores again, and it wouldn't recognize my login even though it was correct. Then it locked me out of my account for 5 minutes. After I waited 5 minutes I login and the refresh your score button isn't working.
Just need to fix the snags!
I like the fact that all three credit scores are made available. And that I get notices for any activity on my credit records. I am very careful with my private information. Using a credit monitoring service helps me be proactive in my efforts to protect my information.
