Don't waste your time complaining, the customer is never right.
I recently had an issue in my local JD Weatherspoons public house (Cradley Heath), where I was short changed. I queried this immediately and even had a complete stranger agree that he saw the value of the note that i handed over. Even though I raised the issue straight away, the till wasn't checked for 40 minutes at a busy time and it was continually used during this period. The result was that the till balanced. Surely once an issue is raised the till should be locked off to investigate?
I have then had a nightmare getting through the to manager (they seem to employ lots of 'deputy' or 'shift' managers that basically have no way of resolving complaints. I had to leave my number twice, and called in three times to resolve this and each time the manager was in meetings or out.
I eventually spoke to the manager who tried to persuade me that i was wrong and that I should check more carefully what I was handing over. She wasn't bothered in the slightest that the till was continually used after my complaint before it was checked. To be honest she was patronising and could do with some advise on dealing with complaints.
I have also noticed an increased number of under age drinking, smoking in the entrance doors, and staff serving with dirty hands amongst other observations at the premises. I'll be avoiding all JD Weatherspoon premises from now on.

don't bother complaining
I had a bad experience at the Liberty bounds pub in London, It was a real bad breakfast, cheap I suppose but I would have prefered to have paid more and been able to eat it. To date I have sent two letters of complaint and not heard a thing back, time to give up I think.

The excelence in different ways!
In December 2012 i was a regular guest in ''The Tollemache'' in Grantham and in 2 January 2013 I had kunch in ''The Joseph Else'' in Lincoln, both in Lincolnshire U.K.
The Tollemache, an old fashion traditional pub, situated in heart of Grantham, offer us in Christmas Day a splendid dinner with a rich assorted cuisine in a great ambient with stimulating staff! When we visit The Joseph Else. situated in center of Lincoln also for lunch, I have surprise to see a modern location, absolutely 21 century trend with the young staff joyful and very efficient. One thing was unchangeable - an opulent quality food , impeccable served, with selected drinks and a tasteful. aroma black coffee! And in both of these Jdwetherspoon location , the prices was acceptably for an Esteuropean, as me! Emilia Eva Chiser

Well run and decent pubs
Ok, JD is mainly about cheap drink and they do that really well, but they also have a reasonable menu. OK they've removed some of the things I love (The Western Platter is famous in my family), but overall, and for the price, the food is pretty amazing.
I think you have to pick the pub you go to well. During the afternoon some of the pub seem to get more than their fair share of Giro money and some off the pubs (like many do I guess) smell of stale beer, but overall top notch and great value for money!

I'm on their wi fi right now
Love wetherspoons. Not the most atmospheric of places but oh so reliable for coffee, wifi, breakfast et al. They are open much earlier than most places that serve the above. And they are still head and sholuders above the rest for fair priced drinks and wide range of 'real' and interesting beers. They have their knockers but so what, I think they're brilliant.
