Fed up by being penalised for delivery costs. I live well outside the Highlands (I live in the in the lowlands of Scotland) however I am unfortunate enough to have a IV postcode which means “free delivery” costs me £15.
Placed my order at 8am yesterday morning and it arrived before 12noon today. Had excellent communication throughout. Am very impressed. Thank you
I wish i'd read this reviews first. Place a thousand pounds order for the next day delivery just to find out that one item was out of stock ( i only found out when i rang them) Jessop is a joke! Dont buy online !!!!!! Will put a complain letter soon as well. I really regret ordering from them.
I wouldn't buy a 5 pence washer from Jessops if it came wrapped in a £10 note. They have not answered one of my 3 emails and have nothing but contempt for their customers. Next day delivery became 5 days - no explanation - no response to emails.
I wish I had read some of their customer reviews before purchasing!
I only gave one star because zero was not an option.
Never again!
We have not purchased from their website but purchasing a Nikon Coolpix 9100 from their store in Lowestoft was a good experience. The store is clean and well products are well presented. The staff were pleasant and not too pushy in offering insurance and accessories. Would buy from again.
Just bought a camera with Jessop through the 0% finance online and was told the camera and the casing will be with me well before 10 working days! Call in today for customer services and being told that they couldnt dispatch the goods until all are in stock eventhough the camera were in stock!! It was kind of misleading as when you applying the finance online, it doesnt tell you that!! except when you call!!!!!!!!!! ANd they never call back like they promised!!!
went into buy a camera and found staff really couldnt be arsed helping and they hadnt a clue about the camera every question i asked the assistant had to go ask the manager . useless staff
The packaging of this product is seriously misleading. I attach photograph to demonstrate my point.
The large lower section of the package contains the gorilla legs whilst the upper section contains a smaller box which appears to contain the “ballhead”. Printed on this small box there is a picture of the ballhead and a picture of the legs+ballhead with camera attached. There are further pictures on the side of the main package which again show legs+ballhead. There is no written information on the package about its contents.
In the circumstances I think it is reasonable for me to expect the ballhead to be inside the small box and included in the price. When I opened the small box at home and found it empty I presumed the contents had been shoplifted. On returning to the Jessops Metro Centre, Gateshead shop on 22nd July I was amazed to be told the ballhead is not part of this product and it has to be purchased separately.
I think this packaging is misleading to the point of dishonesty.
I have been trying for 3+ weeks to get a response from Jessops. No response from anyone to date and that includes their Chief Executive, Trevor Moore.
when i first went into the store i though great , they can print my 30 year old negatives and i was very pleased , so i gave them to the member of staff , when i returned i got my prints eventually ,when i got home there was a row of negatives missing so i phoned the store and they said no we only processed the ones you gave me , but i was 100 % positive that there was a row missing so the staff looked about and found the row on the floor tried to blame me obviously, but if i had have dropped them i would have had a print already of the missing row , anyway i would never recommend them due to the fact they misplaced my precious 30 year old negative with photos of my mum who passed away a few years ago , they were kept safe all that time and they couldn't even do it for a weekend !
Only gave 1 star as wouldnt let me give none.
I worked at jessops for a total of 6 months, before i left to go elsewhere, it was the worst environment ive ever worked, I was bullied by another team member, as she was jelous Id come in as a team leader.
She would order people around, do nothing along with the shop floor manager. Behind the closed back door in the lab, alot goes on that the public dont see..
When informing management about the bullying they did nothing..
eventually the girl was moved stores.
I put in a complaint and to this day nothings been done...
I ordered one of their bundles online and from the off, the service was rubbish.
Sent only part of the order despite telling me I signed for it all! The bits they forgot to send were the actual Camera and bag!
Phone every day for a week and was promised a call back each day. This never happened.
Finally spoke to a Manager and was assured a call back but again never happened.
Asked for full refund to which she said we will refund you in full. I checked what they were refunding and she said £267. I had paid £619!!
The customer services at this company is a total joke and in a way I am glad it all fell through as I found the package cheaper elsewhere.
Avoid unless you enjoy hassle
I went into Jessops once to buy a Sony Digital camera and found the prices quite expensive than the original Sony store. However, i like the fact that Jessops offers free photo prints when u register with them.
My girlfriend always gets her photos from the store in Carlisle. Last month she went in and they told her that to get her photos within one hour was £40, and if she wanted them the next day it wasn't much cheaper...It worked out at £11!!!
She argued with them as they had already started to process them, and eventually got them for £11. Be wary!!
I like the idea of being able to go into a shop that specialises in photography and actually talk to someone who knows what they're talking about.
What I don't like is the idea of seeing an 8GB memory card that's about three times the price of a 16GB one online, and that's where Jessops are seriously flawed.
Unless the prices become more competitive, I fear the writing is on the wall for Jessops. Such a shame as the brand is a household name and with a little care and attention to detail - i.e. getting prices more in line with competition - things could be very different.
I gave Jessops one star only because I couldn't give zero stars. Customer service with Jessops is dreadful, enough said, shop elsewhere.
Excellent service, knowledgeable staff & decent prices. Offer good in store advice & have service where you can order online select your store for collection & no charges made until you actually collect the goods you expect. They will even hold stuff for several days pre collection which is useful. Had an appalling service experience previously with Simply Electronics - a complete sham company,Jessops are the real deal when it comes to photography & hardly any more expensive than Amazon for most items.
Ordered a camera from Jessops website and paid extra for saturday delivery. DHL just delivered a package containing a brown envelope with an invoice for £9.99 with someone else's name on it, no camera in sight. Phoned customer services and got a half-arsed apology saying something must have gone wrong in the warehouse, and the camera might still turn up today (although more than likely will be Monday), but if it doesn't to phone back (at my cost!!!!) and they will issue me with a refund for the delivery cost. Last time I ever buy anything from this joke of a company
I found this company excellent to deal with. The advise over phone was accurate and helpful and the order was speedy and spot on.
Really need to get this off my chest i am so angry with the way i have been treated today in Jessops Torquay i took a my camere in to be repaired in January . I was aked to leave a deposit of £25.00 and if i wanted the repair doing this would come off my bill if not it would loose the £25.00. No problem ther so i payed the Dave the £25.00 and he asked me to sign a receipt to say ive payed the £25.00 and have gone to pick up my camera today in Febuary i spoke to the store manager Keith he went and got my camera and unwaped it all was looking good then he turned my camera over opend my battery department and said oh no battery.i said there was one in there when i left it he said there was not as it was not listed in my receipt.he said you signed for it with no battery i said i thought i signed for the deposit only. i was not told i was signing for my camera strap n covers or i would have picked up on it straight away. keith told me that everyone says there battery has gone missing that why we sign for it so he put a new one in my camera took some photos he said nice with a smile i am still mad i have no battery he said right lets settle this bill and we can sort the battery out. Ok i said. so i paid in full then he said i can have a battery for £20.00. No way i thought i want my battery back i left in it not to mention the battery he was trying to sell me was not a genuine Nikon and i had a genuine Nikon battery in it when they took it from me for the service. i said i did not have the money for this battery and then i said to keith if you send all cameras away with no battery in it then why did he flip it over open the battery cover and go oh no battery very odd i think. i don't like being called a lier what ever happend to the customer is always right. Not in this store i tell you. so i told them i wont be shopping in jessops ever again and left. All the money they will lose from me because of a battery i will go to Mifsuds in Brixham from now on. Sure it way out my way but i only want good service. i have phoned Jessops and put a complaint in, lets see if they call me back on Monday i am also writing to jessops head office too. i will get my battery back as i wont stop ringing writing to them until i do. I will update this so you will all no how this is resolved.

Placed an order for three items totalling £1200 after being accepted by v12 finance. Two of the items in stock third item uto 28 days delivery but would not send out any item until all items in stock ie incomplete order and this was a 16th birthday gift.
28 days past still waiting for items no reply to emails or letters - phoned numerous times to be told still waiting for stock from supplier.
Told them to cancel third item and send me items in stock i ordered they took my visa card details to refund deposit and place new order and was told it would be done.Rang today and they dont know anything about it and they would ring me back in five minutes - guess what ?
I have contacted trading standards to see what i can do.
The best buying decision is stay away from jessops online they are only interested in taking your money there is no such thing as customer support or after sales service they just dont care.
I mean i have dealt with Jessops on several occasions and whenever i've been stuck in a rut with photography, they've always helped with any query, Jessops are also getting very competative with other online retailers, you may save with others but there's always a Jessops pretty close to you if you have any problems with equipment, i have found the staff very very helpful when i have needed answers, so this is why i have given Jessops the full star treatment
My shipment finally came , i waited for about 3 weeks.
Things are nicely pack and just what i was hoping to see.
Not all goods from the online store are available to pick up in store and have to be ordered online making gift vouchers useless. - basically if you want something from the online service, shop around usually you can find on amazon or another suplier of photographic equipment cheaper, dont ask your relatives to buy a gift card for jessops - I now have one for £70 that I cant use
Why dont Jessops allow you to order online and pick up and pay at store even if it would mean having to wait a few days for certain non stock items.?
I ordered an SLR from Jessops after being let down by an 0n-line shop. Ordered over the web and collected in <1h. Price was not too bad either.
TERRY
I used them for a top photobook and it was rubbish, didnt know they were making it til the last minute and thought it may be good, customer service werent interested.
As a company Jessops do not have a functioning complaints service in place.
Just over a year ago I purchased from them a Canon EX 430 II flash which decided to develop a fault within a couple of months of the end of its warranty. Legally even after the end of the warranty period an item may be eligible for a free repair or replacement if it can be proven that the fault is a manufacturing one. Jessops refuse to abide by the Sale of Goods Act and can only offer me a repair which costs as much as a brand new flash. I cannot communicate with their Head Office as a central Customer Services centre does not seem to exist. Their website states that all faults should be discussed with their store staff. Their store staff have been instructed to offer nothing but a repair at a charge and deny any knowledge of the Sale of Goods Act. Catch 22 comes to mind!
I feel that legal action is the only way to get Jessops to mend their ways. When every other company out there is focusing on customer relations and customer service, Jessops are only interested in our cash and not in our custom.
Generally they are very expensive when compared to places like Amazon, however you get what you pay for and they have time to go over products with you and let you try them in the shop. After sales can be pure and difficult to solve small problems.
I always use their reserve and collect facility if the price is already competative, the guys in my local stores (Wakefield and Huddersfield) are very knowledgable.
If I want something that is cheaper elsewhere Jessops will do their best to match it if not beat it.
I shopped around and couldn't find anyone else that could beat them on price. I ordered a digital camera and it arrived when it should and it works so all good!
I ordered a pair of binoculars from Jessops, got the email saying it was ready to be collected from the store, spent my lunchbreak to get to said store only to be told that they didn't have my order and could not explain why, the sales guy offered me another pair saying that they were the same spec as the ones I ordered, which they were not! Whilst I was looking at the others on display he started serving another customer who was having trouble with processing photos, I gave up 15minutes later as I needed to get back to work, needless to say I will not use Jessops again.
I ordered Nikon D700, a lens and a spare battery. The items were (claimed to be) in stock and guaranteed as next day delivery with DHL for as long as ordered before 5pm.
The items were despatched late in the afternoon the day after I placed the order (I could follow this via Jessop's and DHL's tracking orders) and they did not arrive the next day. I called DHL to complain, they said they never guarantee next day deliveries and that the customer (i.e. Jessops) would have known this. Jessops promises on their web page deliveries until 9pm, up to 3 re-deliveries within the next 48 hours, and Saturday delivery. DHL told me they do none of these, and that Jessops would have known this when they send the parcel. It took me five days (not a day) to get this camera.
It seems that the delivery times and packages Jessops is advertising on their web site are completely incorrect. Had I known this I would have ordered from somewhere else (e.g. see Park Cameras).
I put feedback to Jessops but have not heard anything back. For over £2000 order I would have expected better than this. I would not use them again.
although the homepage advertises free next day delivery, i was charged £15.95 because outside of main cities. tracking of parcel didn't work. after seven days, order still not arrived. was promised twice that" it would be tomorrow" so i stayed home for two days in vain.
sent 4 or 5 emails; only some were answered, on average after three days. the parcel still has not arrived. it was a very expensive camera and lens.
staff on the phone could never help me, had to look it up. some phoned back, some didn't. overall, extremely unsatisfactory service. i wish i had not ordered from jessops! i paid, i have no camera and nobody takes any notice!!!don't make the same mistake as me!
