Ordered laptop, had to check with customers service about whether windows 7 or 8 was the primary operating system. A very quick reply and laptop sent. Received very quickly and up and working okay. So pleased with it I immediately ordered one for the wife and that arrived today. superb service from start to finish.
I ordered the laptop last Tuesday afternoon. It arrived on Wednesday.
I am amazed at this incredible turnaround. The computer was in first
class condition. My only criticism is that no backup CD/DVD-ROM was
provided for the installed OS. Fortunately, I didn't need it as I replaced
Windows 8 with a Linux distribution (Linux Mint).
The HP 4545s is excellent value for money and I heartily recommend it.
laptopdirect's performance was superb.
They had exactly the product I wanted (Lenovo C340 6GB all in one PC) whereas most online vendors seemed to be out of stock. I paid extra for delivery on a specified day and that is when it arrived. Very pleased with the product - was easy to set up (and I am no tech wizard) and getting used to Windows 8, which some people say is difficult, didn't seem bad. Overall, completely satisfied with Laptops Direct
I bought a laptop and was assured if I took out 3 years warranty faults would be fixed. A piece of plastic broke of the screen which caused a crack at the back of the laptop. I sent it back (I had to pay £20). I arranged to have it sent back and they receive it and told me,
In addition to this it has been noted that the system has taken substantial damage to the chassis, we regret that such damages void warranty on the machine as any hardware failures that occur in future may be caused by these damages.
Beware, warranty doesn't cover you if it is BROKEN and they will NOT tell you this when you purchase the item.
I run a local design company and I purchased a spare laptop for the office a Acer laptop about a year ago which has had little or no use. We were wanting to purchase a higher spec'd machine for the office and got told about there trade in deal.
The trade in valuation came to £110.00 which we were happy about. I read the terms and our laptop (hardly used) fitted all criteria so I was confident of the £110.00.
The laptop was packaged and handed in at Laptops Direct.
They came back to me with an email offering £55.00 noting "moderate use, and light scratches on the bevel."
I obviously complained about this, and 3 messages went ignored before I finally got a reply of:
2Thank you for your e-message 11/10/2013.
We apologise for the length of time it has taken us to respond to your e-message.
We can confirm that we received your item last month, thank you.
We can confirm that we have had to grade the item LD02 which would mean light scratches and damage to the bezel.
We are unable to offer any more for this item after speaking with management.
If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards "
This is obviously a continuous way the company are operating. Offering customers high prices on laptops that for fill the criteria set out and then at least halving the offer when you've bought a new laptop off them.
I challenge anyone to get the full offering price on a laptop without giving them a brand new boxed laptop!
They've lost a very good local customer/company and someone who could have recommended them to clients through poor customer service and devious trade in tactics
I really couldn't have asked for more here. Not only did I get an amazing deal on my laptop, but I received regular updates at every stage of the journey and then my laptop arrived much faster than quoted. Couldn't be happier!
What can i say apart from great service, you can track your order from start to finish, was first time i had used this site and will be using again
Decided to buy the item a couple of weeks ago, placed an order elsewhere (was listed as 5% cheaper than Laptops Direct) but was let down. Cancelled order and placed with Laptops Direct. Specified next day delivery. Got an order confirmation immediately, a shipping confirmation within 15 minutes and the item within 24 hours. Experience could not have been better.
Here is a letter of complaint I sent to mr [name] (director) and mr [name] (cust services mgr)
After 7 messages left on his answer phone and 8 email I have still not had a response ! I have now involved bbc watchdog as I still have not had a refund or have any sight of a laptop !
I WILL get my money back !!!
After 12 days the laptop developed an issue displaying an error when starting up.
My son was told it was a software problem and after 2 days of speaking to technical support and manufacture support (Mon 1st October) – My son was instructed to send the Laptop back (When I (David Crisp) requested a replacement Laptops direct would not provide one at this point) - The item was packaged and marked up "fragile", "handle with care" and was given to the Laptops Direct courier on the Wed 3rd October whom was also informed that the package was a laptop, the courier placed the laptop on the front passenger seat – My son made appropriate arrangements in his mind for the laptop to be delivered unharmed. Both my son (who is totally reliant on this Laptop for his university work) and I were informed that there would be a 24hr turnaround and would more than likely have the laptop returned by Monday 7th October. We have since received an e-mail stating the laptop was damaged in transit and the fault is now a hardware problem and could take up to 28 days to fix after which my son will receive a laptop that has previously been damaged in transit. I have requested on a number of occasions a full refund or a replacement and also copies of every communication I have had with Laptops Direct under the Freedom of information act , as I feel I have been mis-advised and treated unfairly. As yet I have had little success obtaining this information (these requests have been made to various members of the Laptops Direct Customer Care Department). I have been informed that here is a charge to supply this information, however I cannot find any reference to these charges on your website and feel that charging for information when in dispute is totally inappropriate. In summary I have spent nearly £600 on a laptop and accessories, this laptop was operational for 10 days before developing a fault, the laptop was sent back in good faith by my son. My son has now been informed that it is HIS fault the product has developed damage in transit and it will not repaired for 28 days after which he will receive a laptop that has untold damaged from transit. I would just also like to say that the Customer Service we have received in trying to find a resolution has been very poor to say the least. I have kept full records of all communication and am awaiting the corresponding publications from Laptops Direct before my solicitor can build a case if my appeal for a full refund or replacement laptop is not approved. I am currently taking advice from Consumer Direct and Trading Standards who both support my request and have notified BBC watchdog of all communications..
This is the first time I've bought a laptop online and it was a good experience. I used the query service to verify a couple of things and got a prompt reply that answered my question fully. Price of the product was good and postage was cheap. It arrived on time and I'm very happy. Would recommend Laptops Direct to others in the basis of this transaction
I originally purchased this item from Trove Shopping through Tesco Direct.
They were originally out of stock so I agreed to an email restock advice.
Low and behold they got one in stock the next day so I agreed to the sale at £94 pounds plus some pence thinking if Tesco were involved I would be getting a good deal, especially when the RRP was nearly £120.
On receipt I was a little bewildered on how the designer was thinking 2 camera bodies should go in - it looked more like a standard lens needed to be attached. So I went on line looking for a picture of the product with cameras and lenses in the bag for inspiration. I was shocked to inadvertently discover it was being offered, in the end after more diligent research, for £30-£40 less at some 12 different suppliers.
I challenged Trove and Tesco to price match but they refused - so I returned the product for refund.
Laptop Direct were the second cheapest but I didn't know of the other supplier.
So I ordered just before going to the parcel shop with the return to Trove using the return label and returns note they had sent me by email.
I have difficulty walking but pence short of £40 was worth the challenge.
Free P & P and 94 Tesco Clubcard points was the best offered by Trove Shopping.
More amazing was that the Laptops direct order was coming direct from their supplier. It arrived as promised a day and a half later. Same courier from same courier company to be signed for in identical packaging taped in an identical fashion with an identical delivery note with the same footer for recipient to sign and give to nobody inside.
ordered my laptop and 2 x 32gb flash drive pens, order was dispatched and arrived at my door the next day.
I can't fault the service at all, paid via Amazon checkout which was good as this eliminated the 1.5% surcharge if I had paid by credit card..
Thank you for your prompt and efficient delivery of the laptop which arrived safely. It came exactly with the specifications which I ordered. It was reasonably priced and the accessories laptop bag was perfect. I was searching for many hours over two nights to find a laptop with Windows 7 as Dell, PC World and other retailers refuse to sell or manufacture any laptop or desktop computer with anything but Windows 8 which is a cumbersome operating system. I will definely purchase from you again in the future. Thank you.
My mum wanted a new laptop, so with her insistence on speaking to a human in a 'reputable' shop, last week I took her along to PC World in Wakefield. Her budget was about £300 and all she wants the laptop for is looking on the internet. We went in, but pretty much left straight away as there were large gaps on the stands where the laptops were and the ones that were there were the more expensive ones. A shop calling itself PC WORLD had run out of PCs. Next stop, Currys across the road. A similar-ish story, but they had them on display. We found one for about £290 and went to ask a member of staff. Out of stock. Apparently ALL the students going back to school and uni had bought them all. This confused me as the students go back to school at the same time every year so you'd think they'd make contingencies for this and get more laptops in?! Anyway, we left laptopless, and I took her home again. Then, I thought we should look on the internet. I headed straight for Laptops Direct (can't remember if I've bought from you before but I'd heard of you obviously), found a Laptop she'd like (and in my opinion a slightly better one than the ones we'd seen in Currys) and got it under budget at £280. It came 2 days later and she's delighted with it. How is Currys/PC World still trading?! This is actually the second time they've been rubbish. Last year I went with my brother to buy a laptop, but we ended up going to Comet, who were very helpful, but of course they don't exist anymore. THANK YOU for delivering my mum's laptop in super quick time and I will never be buying from the Currys group ever again. I'm after a monitor for my macbook pro soon, but I'll wait until after my birthday at the end of the month for that. I'll be ordering one from you soon.
My laptop arrived in perfect condition without a scratch and the software (windows 8) was perfect. Could've had Microsoft Office already activated on the actual laptop, however that was easy to get hold of. Overall, very well received and shall be loved for years!
Recently bought a new top-end pc from these guys.
Although i paid for the fast delivery, they did not meet the time promised.
The laptop was faulty before a couple of weeks were in.i.e: An intermittent failure of a certain cluster of the keys on the keyboard. It also had some cosmetic problems,
The laptop went back for a refund, But they are now claiming that they can find no fault.
Although their own returns policy states that it takes 48 hours for an inspection, it took them over four days, and then they told me that even if it did have a cosmetic flaw (disregarding the other more serious problems for a minute here), that this was not covered under the guarantee. They obviously don't know about consumer rights. They will soon when i get them to court, which where this is heading presently.
So to summarise: DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED CASH WITH THIS COMPANY. IF YOU ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS THEY WILL NOT CARE.!! AND THEY WILL NOT RESPECT YOUR CONSUMER RIGHTS __ BE WARNED __

I ordered from Laptops Direct for a few reasons - I never pay full-price for anything if I can help it. I use cashback and discount sites a lot and I always fully research a product and company if I'm going to be spending a lot of money.
Laptops Direct was perfect - I was able to search the exact spec I wanted and then I chose from the choices provided. I went via TopCashback and earned some money back, plus used a discount code I got for signing up for a £1 trial of Which.
I paid slightly more for a faster delivery and it was worth it. My laptop, mouse and headphones all arrived separately via different couriers, which was a bit annoying, but they all arrived on the same day within hours of each other, so I wasn't kept waiting.
I would seriously caution against buying anything from this company as they are dishonest in what they sell i.e. miselling they tried to pass off a refurbished laptop as new and then did not refund my credit card for 4 weeks. When I challenged the lackey who kept saying sorry to get 'someone senior' ( I gave my telephone number) to ring me and explain why the service was so shite.. of course they never rang typical cowards hiding behind junior staff.
1/Phoned and ordered an new ACER laptop with software - waited paid and waited 10 days for delivery. There was no communication.
2/Rang and went through the usual rigmorole of trying to speak to some one. Spoke to sales staff who said would do an upgrade for same price, which I agreed. This on 22 August. When the e-mail confirmation came through it clearly stated 'refurbished' so immediately cancelled by e-mail but no response.
3/ Phoned again -speaking to a supervisor who then tried to sell me another despite not getting the point that any confidence I might have had, had vaporisesed like a wet fart. I was told that the order had been processed and that they would have to intercept the delivery from their warehouse (as if as a custome you are really bothered) all I wanted was my money back.
4/ Credit card statement came through and I had not been refunded by these crooks after 4 weeks so I rang again. Got the usual customer service platitudes/excuses-blaming a fault on the computer, delays with the warehouse returns etc. This is when I challenged for one of the directors or CE to personally phone and explain why the company clearly doesn't value its customers. You can guess the rest .. of course they didn'tphone.
My advice -avoid this dodgy company!

Used Laptops direct a number of times both in my position as ICT Manager in a Secondary school and for my friends and family. I just keep coming back! If you cant find what you want or have a query, just ring and they sort you out quickly and efficiently.
I was impressed enough to mention LD to my Deputy who I knew was looking for a laptop for his daughter for Uni and within an hour he was reporting he was now sorted! What better reccomendation is that?
I f I needed to make a gripe its not with LD but the Windows 8 operating system. But I reckon if I had mentioned that LD would have found a way around it!
Having purchased other laptops from them I thought I'd be safe using them for my wife's. The laptop developed a fault and this was reported (though we were unable to return it immediately as my wife needed it for work). When we were then able to return it we were told we had damaged it through misuse because that's what normally happens (not a direct quote).
Order number: 33883926
EDIT 24.9.13 - What Customer Service?
Despite an earlier "I'll look into it" (see earlier review above) all I've had back is another "stock" response stating that they won't look at it. The responses to my letter and e-mail and e-messages have never once apologised for the poor customer service when trying to return the laptop to the store and the attitude of the representative behind the counter. Unfortunately having reasonable prices is worthless if something goes wrong and all you get is finger-pointing, rudeness and an unwillingness to care for future business. Suffice to say that anyone I once recommended LD to will be advised to go elsewhere so they will likely lose more in potential business than it would have cost them to at least have the decency to investigate the issue properly. As with others, they often don't respond to e-messages (their preferred method of communication) within a reasonable time resulting in follow-up queries.
I bought a Lenovo Ideapad from Laptops Direct a couple of weeks ago, and I have had problems ever since. The laptop arrived and immediately I found faults, such as the brightness suddenly dropping, and the brightness increase button did not work. Having Googled it afterwards, this appeared to be a problem many people have with this. As well as this, the wifi would connect and disconnect, and then not accept the wifi code, despite the wifi working on every single laptop and phone in the house. The laptop then would not allow me to use skype until I updated it, and when i tried to, it did not update and remained as a pending update. I then used the camera, and the video was so slow that it only showed a picture of my face with the background noise appearing. Having found these in about 2 hours of use, i requested a return and listed the faults. I have received an email saying that my product was not faulty, and I have been charged 10% for restocking, as well as the £20 pound for the delivery, leaving me £60 down from before I bought a faulty product. Having rang them, they insist that the product was not faulty, and claim to understand my frustration, although why I would send back an item I have worked to buy all summer if it is not faulty does not make sense. They are crooks, and I suggest that you take your money elsewhere, and stay well away from laptops direct.

I purchased an apple display with a specified delivery date and they took the £785. The item did not arrive, I left it to the next day and still no show. So I used their eMessaging system and asked where it was. They told me it was out for delivery. 2 days later nothing. Eventually 5 days late a delivery for the wrong apple display (a thunderbolt model) turned up. I sent a eMessage saying it was wrong and I expect the correct item delivered delivered whilst getting the wrong item picked up. I got a reply saying sorry and they will resolve this. I was asked for model & serial number which I gave. 4 days have passed and despite repeated messages I'm being ignored.

Second Item I've purchased over the last 2 years from laptopsdirect.
Can't say a bad word about them.
This time round an HTC 8X at the right price, working beautifully on my beloved giffgaff.
Will be back for more and surely recommending you to some friends along the line.
It's easy to get ripped off by cheap copies when you're looking for a replacement for your laptop power supply but this product seems robust and is rated exactly as I require it to be. Also, asked for normal delivery and received the product the following day - perfect.
The service provided by laptopsdirect was extremely efficient. I was expecting a hitch along the way, but nope, nothing came up to delay or hinder what I ordered. Prompt delivery, and quick and easy service. And have to mention, great value for money!!!! My husband and I searched high and low to try and beat their prices, and we admitted defeat as they are truly the best in value and now we are convinced on service too! We have been recommending you. You're top of our list now!!!!
