I bought a tablet from them in december, which was faulty, and after contacting them they told me to contact the company directly (ARCHOS). I did not receive my tablet back until 8 weeks after I sent it off, (2 weeks over the legal amount of time for a repair). The new tablet was faulty and when I asked laptops direct for a repair they told me it wasn't their problem, as the new tablet came from ARCHOS. After getting in touch with the Citizens Advice Bureau I found out that it IS Laptops Direct's problem as they sold me it. After sending 3 emails, to which they replied with automated messages, I sent them a formal written complaint saying I wanted a refund because all the products I had been given were faulty, they told me they don't do refunds and will only offer for me to have to contact the company again and get another 'repair'. Laptops Direct are an awful company, do NOT buy from them or any of their sister companies, you will only get screwed over! (ARCHOS is also an awful company, don't buy any of their products!)
First when you'll contact them, you will receive super fast & kind service.
But after you have transferred your money, no one is willing to give you any service & answers to your questions.
You have to sent ~5 emails to get 1 answer. And everytime someone else is answering to you. In my case I found out after making the order & payment that they're selling stuff that is not in stock (website shows "available" all the time). Refund was really PAIN IN THE ASS. I feel like really lucky to get my money back after ~10 emails. People, you have been warned!!!!
Avoid this company!!
I recently ordered and paid for a tablet pc. I recieved an email a few hours later saying they had no stock as they have oversold it.
Took me 4 emails to find out how long it would take for my payment to be credit as their emails were templates which did not make sense.
I would not recommend using this company after my experience.
I think it is despicable that you have something available to order on your website, showing as in stock and then just cancel orders as you feel. I can guarantee you that you have lost a customer that would have used laptops direct for more business in the future, but if this is how you conduct business i have no choice but to take my business elsewhere.
Very, very poor! What a waste of time...
No stock control whatsoever.
They just lost a customer..
Had a query with an order and she was very determined to find out information to uncover why my order has not been dispatched as yet.
Ordered a Lenovo Z580 with a pen drive loaded with bootable file for OS.
Arrived on time. which was great!
Started the laptop which stopped working within the first 20 minutes of startup following a windows update. The laptop with remained switched on with a dark screen where it would go through a loop of Preparing Automatic Repair. Diagnosing your PC on & on & on & still it won't start. I tried booting the system using the bootable pen drive which I ordered with this laptop but no use.
I contacted them to report the fault & suggested them to send a new machine whilst arranging for the faulty one to be collected. They advised that the fault can only be established after investigation & that I will have to send the item back, which I did after paying £27.42 to parcel force.
Finally they established that there was a fault & they refunded me the value for the laptop but decided not to refund me for the pen drive (£20) & card charges (£6).. Obviously they didn't refund the return shipping charges.
So in short I lost just above £53/ & still I don't have a new laptop. Great ...isn't it.
Is it my fault if the laptop was faulty? why as a customer do I have to bear these costs? Unbelievable, how these companies can get away with all this?
I ordered a laptop and selected my delivery address to be different from my billing address, then an idiot from Laptops Direct called me because it had naturally flagged their security checks. I informed him that it was being delivered to my business address rather than my home, he then accused me of LYING as he didn't believe it to be a business address. I know where my own business is located, so I instructed him to cancel the order so i can order from elsewhere, now that i've seen other reviews on these sites it looks as though i've dodged a bullet and saved my money. Worst customer service rep i've ever spoken to.
I have never used a service as bad. For a month I have managed to keep my cool. Organising the return of my faulty laptop. Sold to me under the knowledge that this range of laptops are faulty. Sending paragraphs from UK trading law, managing to organise collection and agreeing they will pay me back for postage and all costs incured. They have just over charged me for collection. I am fuming. I will never spend a single penny with this company again.
I WARN ANYONE AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!
I recently bought a laptop from LD and immediately experienced compatibility issues between Windows 8 and Office 365. Basically Outlook kept crashing the system making the laptop essentially unusable for a small business owner - previous to the call i had spent 2 full days on calls with Microsoft tech support who said it was the machine. I called and explained the issue only to be told to complete a form, no probs there. Detailed the issue only to get an email response saying 'there is no compatibility issues between W8 & 365' - very patronising and clearly they hadn't read my detailed briefing sheet or taken an interest in my case. I simply got an automated email back saying that they have refused my request to send back. They didn't even consider my troubles and now I have been left with a dud machine that cost £600!!! Cheers. The very least they could do is actually call me rather than use a totally unprofessional email system that has no customer focus. I certainly won't be coming back and will be taking my £1,500 for a new MAC elsewhere - so short sighted.
If you are going to purchase from these loonies then I suggest you do it as a person and NOT a business as you have 7 days to return without quibble. Personally I'm not wasting another moment with them!
I ordered from them last week and everything went a-okay. I got it the next day at 9:10AM. I didn't appreciate being called about buying extra products but as for the service, I haven't got anything bad to say.
The shopping experience I had was excellent, everything ran to plan and was delivered as expected. When I had a problem with the Manufacturers cash back scheme I asked Laptopsdirect to help me and they could not have been more helpful and got my problem solved
Received my new (refurbished) lap top today. Having visited PC World who were not particularly helpful! then googled extensively looking for a new laptop, Laptops Direct were extremely patient and helpful in finding the right one for me within my budget. Standard delivery was very quick (2 days).
Office 2013 should have been pre-installed for me but was not; however, customer service answered the phone promptly issued a refund and talked me through the installation process until I was up and running. Thank you.
I certainly recommend Laptops Direct.
I ordered & received my Asus netbook in May 2011 - all fine. In January this year (20 months later) it stopped working. Got a report from an independent repairer - motherboard failure of some sort, would cost at least £100+ to repair. I vaguely knew that a laptop should last longer than this (Sales of Goods Act) and contacted Laptops Direct re a repair or replacement - 'item should be of satisfactory quality and last a reasonable length of time', ie not 20 months. LD replied & continue to reply, that, according to the Sales of Goods Act, I must prove that the fault was inherent in the item at the point of sale - obviously impossible and I have been advised that if no mis-use, it is implied that the fault must have been there. Very slow to reply - first contacted them in February and have now received 3 letters, and speaking once to the Customer Service team, quite clear that he had no idea what he was talking about (Jason) - and told me to do what I liked. I am planning to take them to the Small Claims Court which I have been told can be done online for a small fee (£25) in my case. If anyone has already done this, I would be most interested to hear the result.
Thank you Asif for sorting out the query regarding the TOSHIBA LAPTOP, it arrived as arranged. I am very pleased with the service that I received, and I would use and recommend your company again. Regards Barrie.
Hi
What a wonderful service policy Laptops Direct has. You are allocated a person to help and whenever you phone you asak to speak to that person so you do not have to keep explaining and getting no-where.
My person who dealt with me wasa Chris Smythe. He was so helpful and did not make me feel inadequete in any way. Chris was alaways so pleasant and polite when I was speaking to him and he was able to get my problems sorted out.
Through my experience with your Company I will certainly be recommending my friends to you as I was recopmmended to you in the first place.
Your Comp0any should be held up as a prime example to other similar businesses.
Please pass on my sincere thanks to Chris Smythe for all his help and support.
Many many thanks
With best wishes

After my wife broke her laptop I needed a good priced replacement fairly quickly. Laptops direct met this need all round. They used a good quality delivery service and, despite a slight hiccup in the payment process, their customer service department reacted extremely well and refunded a charge that I hadn't realised was going to be levied. Wish all customer service departments were like this.
Bought laptop. Paid extra for Saturday delivery. Wasn't delivered.
Asked to have the delivery made to me at work (so I'd be there).
They asked for the alternative address (all this in their pathetic emessage nonsense: they won't call you and it's a premium rate line to call them). Then nothing.
After increasingly cold, but polite, messages from me to which they didn't reply, I eventually got this gem:
"Your goods have already been despatched for delivery so unfortunately we are unable to pass any further information to our carriers."
I've cancelled the order, since even if the goods arrive now, I don't want to deal with these clowns if there is a problem. I mean, what sort of online business can't arrange to have a box picked up and delivered. That's all they have to do.
I bought a refurbished Acer Aspire One off this company 8 months ago.
A few days ago i sold it on ebay, so i thought i'd reinstall it to its original settings before sending it.
Well when i did this it seems the original XP version of this is the Spanish one and the only way i can change it to English is by buying the multilanguage copy,
I called the support number they gave me at 50p per minute, they said the above, so i called Laptopsdirects and all i got was the warranty is out of date and its not their problem. (and that if i can convert the Spanish theyre sure i can change it)
Now they must have got a load of these laptops cheap and put the English patch on to sell knowing full well that once it was reinstalled it was going to cause problems as it'd be in Spanish.
Utter scum and very deceitful keep well away ... i will be taking them to the small claims court.

this has to be one of the worst companies i have ever dealt with.received faulty pc returned immediately expecting a replacement.get a reply saying that the pc is fine and will be returned.get it back and yes you guessed it same problem.have not got anywhere with them since.have not tried to help but have just been confrontational.i urge everyone please stay away from these cowboys, just look at the amount of complaints this company has.how in god are these horrible people trading.stay well clear.
One week ago I tried to buy a laptop from laptopsdirect.co.uk. Since I live in Sweden, I asked them if they can ship it to me. "Sure we can" came the answer. ...and I started the buying process.
First surprise: A part the huge price they charge for shipment (about 40 pounds), there is another 1.5% percent they charge you if you pay with a credit card. ...In theory!
Cause, as soon as I got to the payment page... oups! Error. Even before I could enter my card details.
I sent them a message about that and the answer was... "We probably can't verify your card, call us and tell us your card number, or call us and we will give you our bank account and you will pay by bank transfer". "Yes, but how could you try to verify a card ... if you don't know it's number? Are you sure you take cards? Are you sure you can ship to Sweden?". "Yes, we do both".
...So I called them. I talked to a guy to asked me to send him an e-mail with my name, address and the product I want to buy. This way he can send me an invoice.
I did it! 24 hours after... no invoice, nothing.
In the last message I sent to them I was asking questions like: "Why can't I pay with my Mastercard? You don't trust me? You don't trust Swedish banks? Is it too complicated to send the laptop to Sweden? Why I didn't get any message from your colleague who promised to send me the invoice? Are you sure you want to sell me that computer?".
Guess what? Complete silence.
So I bought the same computer from Amazon.
The guys from laptopsdirect.co.uk are just awesome... if you don't really need to buy something from them!
Just having a horrible experience dealing with laptopsdirec.co.uk. Paid for a new laptop but received something looking like refurbished. The case of the laptop has dents, scratches (or something looking like scratches. I already started to think that scratches is not actually scratches. That's what their Customer Services repeats me for hours.) and something sticky, like a glue on the sides of the laptop. The original protective film has been already removed and put back with dust particles and air bubbles trapped under it. No CD-Roms, no chance to recover in case of Operating System failure. All wrapping plastic bugs, clearly has been used somewhere else. And generally you can see that the item was re wrapped.
As usual in these cases, customer service is rubbish and never come back and only warning that you'll need to pay for everything.
Luckily I have done some pictures and have all order details perhaps will need to go to the court.

People, avoid laptopsdirect.co.uk
Hi I ordered from laptops direct about a week ago without reading any of the reviews. After I ordered I had a look around and I came across the reviews here and instantly regreted my order. I then checked my email for the conformation and it hadn't came through which caused me to worry. I rang up straight away and it turned out that it was just a mistake in taking my email address so all was fine. The guy on the phone was helpful and got straight to the point. I think they could come across as rude because they don't bother with the small talk but that didn't bother me.
I then got my conformation within minutes and just waited for the delivery. I chose standard delivery and had ordered on the Wednesday so because of the 4 to 5 day delivery I was expecting it either the next Thursday or Friday. To my surprise it came 2 days after the order on the Friday and the slip read that it was first class delivery. I inspected the parcel before the courier left as some of the reviews said they were damaged on arrival but I was satisfied and then opened it up. It was in perfect condition and it works great I am using it to write this review.
I personally had a 5 star treatment but due to the other reviews here maybe you should try other places before buying as clearly they aren't always the most reliable. A nice touch was when I phoned through to pay for the order and I said I only wanted the laptop they didn't try to sell me any of the extras.
To sum up I guess its hit and miss but my experience was good I would order from them again. If anything does go wrong in the future and I have a poor experience from then I will be sure to review again but so far so good.
If any of the "customer service" personnel worked face to face with the public they would be punched in the mouth for sure. I spent £900 on an all-in-one PC and paid for nominated day delivery. It never arrived. I had to chase them constantly over the next couple of days to be told "it was despatched from our supplier 10 minutes ago" Yeah right! When it did eventually arrive the machine constantly rebooted with a "error 1962 no OS (Operating System)". I again chased for days for a return number which when eventually it arrived, brazenly stated that I would have to pay £20 to have the pile of garbage returned. Unbelievable. I phoned them and was told in no uncertain terms either pay or leave it where it is. This place gives internet trading a bad name and to think Comet went bust trying to compete against these ill-mannered thieves. At least Comet knew what customer service was. I was in the market for a few PC's for my business but their attitude has probably lost them £4,000 in sales. To the directors of Laptops Direct - you need to do an "Undercover Boss" episode. To prospective customers - Do yourself a favour go and soil your underwear, you'll have much more fun!! Oh and I too think 1 star is too much but it's the minimum.

Well I bought a laptop off them. It's my birthday present. I'm housebound at present with a sore back. The laptop came it was great. Then it started doing updates, and it's been doing updates for 5 days now. I could hardly use it. I sent an email to them and I got a standard fob off back. THEY SAID THEY DON'T DO SOFTWARE GET INTOUCH WITH MANUFACTURER!! Have you ever heard of anything so disgusting. Two days I'd had it and they refused to help ON closer inspection the machine has obviously come from an NHS upgrade. They've sold them to laptops direct. THe stuff is okay but do NOT shop with these people. Heres the message I sent
that's disgusting, so let me get this straight. I've just bought something off you and now you won't help me????
I've had it two days, I was perfectly reasonable but you've sold me something thats not fit for purpose.
Trading standards helped me last time. I was perfectly nice, and you've sold me a laptop straight from another customer by what is says
an NHS computer. So you aren't going to help me and you just fob me off.
I'm speechless at your customer service. I'm going to give you another chance. Then I shall go to your manager, if that does nothing then I shall then get my friends and family to send on facebook a message at how youve treated me and not to buy off you. Then I'm going to get in touch with trading standards. And if that doesn't work then I shall make my own website about you and make sure when people put it in google mine comes up too.
Thats how angry I am.

I write to let potential customers know of the appalling treatment they can expect from staff at laptopsdirect.co.uk
The attitude employed by laptopsdirect.co.uk staff in the returns department has caused us tremendous stress, and has a negative impact on our health. One of us is an almost 70 year old cancer sufferer, and this whole situation is harmful.
Our saga is described on laptopsdirect.mobi
Please check it out, any advice is most appreciated. Also, please feel free to add your comments, post your stories so we can together stop them from treating their customers so appallingly.

I ordered a laptop from them which was despatched in November 2012, using ParcelForce. I tracked the laptop to Germany and there it has disappeared. Laptops Direct couldn't be less helpful. They say that the responsibility is mine and that I probably won't get a claim settled by ParcelForce. Whatever happened to "Customer Care"? I am now left with no laptop and a sizeable hole in my bank balance. Their conduct may be "legal" but it definitely is totally immoral. I would recommend that nobody use this company unless they enjoy days and days of seemingly pointless frustration. If the company had any conscience it would either refund my money or replace the goods.

After placing my order, I read some bad reviews and I was very skeptical about the service, and fully believed that if I had not already placed the order, I would not have placed it with Laptops Direct. It has never felt so good being proved wrong.
I placed the order on New Years Day - a bank holiday ofcourse and paid for next day delivery (Thursday, due to Wed being the next working day). After the order had been placed, I noticed I put the wrong billing address in. Laptops Direct contacted me numerous times throughtout the day and left a VM for me to call back as I was working. I called them at 5:45pm to confirm the correct details and mentioned "So, I'm presuming this will not be on the Thursday delivery anymore?" and was told it would!
That alone, I thought was impressive. The package then arrived before 9am the next day. So, all the details were confirmed at 5:45pm, and the laptop arrived at home at around 8:50am. Fantastic, quick service. Will definitely use again.
We booked a pre-Xmas Saturday delivery for our son's Xmas present - his first laptop. We stayed in all day Saturday but it did not arrive. We have sent e-messages but there is no one in "customer service" until Monday; no Christmas spirit there!. There is a Sales line working but no interest in helping any mug who's already placed an order.
Forget them. Other places are as cheap and may actually deliver on their delivery promises and have adequate customer services coverage.
PS 1 star not 2 because it is "rude" not to have adequate customer services coverage.

Worst experience I ever had with an online dealer. Had placed an order which got cancelled. Called up and was told that my card was not registered in the address i provided when actually it was. Have made a lot of online purchases with the same card @ same address. Dreadful service. Talks as in you are at their mercy...
Giving one star since it is the leas i could give where actually it should be zero!!

I have recently had an exceptionally bad experience with Laptopsdirect. I had shopped for weeks for the ideal laptop for my parents for a Christmas present, and on Monday was deciding between 2. I phoned LaptopsDirect to receive a commitment that it would be delivered before Christmas, and I was assured without question it would be delivered on Friday 22nd December. It was due to dispatch on the Wednesday.
I then received an email on the Friday, the day it was to arrive just a matter of fact message saying it wouldn't be received until early 2013!! I could not believe it as obviously being the Friday before Christmas I had no other options for ordering online! I phoned... sat for a lengthy computerised set of options to speak to a very curt unhelpful rude customer Service representative.
I am based in Ireland, and he had informed me there would be no deliveries to Ireland this year.. no deliveries and no options. There was not even a willingness to explore any other Couriers. I even suggested working with another courier, but there was just no options! It really was so well below satisfactory. When I initially gave him my name and address he just said No, you are not on the system. And that was almost end of the conversation. How could I not be on the system... turned out he had entered my details in wrong.
I asked to speak to a manager, you will not be surprised to know that this wasn't possible, nor was it possible to give me a guide time for the return call.
I didn't wait for a return call a short time later I cancelled my order... What trust would you have ordering a laptop from a company that treats you like this when you are trying to give them money! Imagine the level of service you would get if anything ever went wrong with it!!!!
I am hoping now that the process of the refund will not be as problematic as the order!
My words of advice, do not order anything from LaptopsDirect! I've got a much better deal in PC World now anyways and at least I will have it before 2013!!

Had problems with my delivery and spoke with "customer service", found them unhelpful and did not seem to care. Was given inaccurate information resulting in them being unable to get item to me before Xmas- sons christmas present :(
Customer service suggested I cancel my order rather than finding a solution. Inflexible and unhelpful, leaving me only three days until Xmas.
I would recommend you do not deal with them.

Spent just under £400 on a refurbed pc but clearly just seemed to be cleaned and with a fresh install of windows installed. The pc gave that dreaded error beep from first turning it on and had clearly not had and proper testing prior to offering it for sale.(worse than described) Lucky I tested it straight away as it was going to be a Xmas present. But after phoning the Customer service dept after running some tests the pc had a dead hard drive. Laptops d/r did a good job at trying to delay me returning the computer past the 7 days legal obligation to give a full refund.
Required returns codes were not sent and without my persistence I would ave been ignored. I must say I got a refund promptly but after several calls. The general experience was not good at all and I didn't get refunded for my delivery costs. Sorry LTDR. Customers expect and deserve a better service.

THEN WAS INFORMED ABOUT MY DELIVERY FROM A CSA THAT THE ITEM WILL BE DELIVERED AFTER 28 DAYS. I ASKED THE ORDER TO BE CANCELLED AND MY MY REFUNDED BACK TO ME. HERE I ATAND AFTER TWO WEEKS, I'M BEEN TOLD IT WILL BE REFUNDED BACK TO ME IN 5 WORKING DAYS AFTER MORE THAN 8 PHONE CALLS TO CSA. I STILL DOUBT THAT VERY MUCH IF THEY ARE STILL GONNA PAY ME MY MONEY.

Bought a Panasonic Blu ray that was a lot cheaper than anywhere else. Delivered by 24hr service even though I opted for standard delivery
Cannot fault to be honest
I'm now on my second laptop from this company, which I bought a year ago and have to say both the service and the laptop itself are excellent.
Both laptops I've ordered over the years arrived promptly, I was able to track them and I've never had any problems at all with their running. Plus their prices were much more competitive than other retailers out there. This compared to my first laptop which I got from a local Currys which broke regularly and whose staff pretty much wrote off anything to do with it once we took it out of the shop.
However I can only say this for sure of my experiences online. I've never been to the showroom or had to speak to anyone there, so can't speak for their skills.
But my experience with the online website has always been smooth and top-notch. Would definitely recommend them.
I ordered my laptop on Monday with the intention of collecting it on Wednesday 14th November 2012 . I had to pay for laptop before they would reserve same. This I didn't mind, was assured said item was in stock. I made a journey of 15 miles to Huddersfield to collect only to be told they hadn't got one. The staff couldn't care less, when asked to speak to a manager they said there wasn't one available. Only thing offered was a refund, total waste of time. Warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! keep well away.

Fantastic customer service. They were let down by sending me a correctly speced box filled with lower spec machine and bent over backwards to get my original purchased specced machine to me on time for some very tight deadlines to be met.
On the grounds of this I would definitely go back there again for another machine.
At this shop I could really find the product I was in need, that fits exactly my needs (and trust me that due to my profession I am a very difficult customer to satisfy) and by far at the best price in the market.
The availability is honest and the variety to choose from is huge.
In other words I can not see any reason why not to suggest laptops direct.
On top of that their customer service is fast and honest.
I know that the competition is huge but shops with that set up and response really eliminate it.
Keep up.
I went into the shop after googling try offered an excellent price, been a nightmare of phone calls, shocking customer service, no one seems to know what is going on. in the end they said they forgot to add VAT so wanted to add £80 on to the price. do not buy from here.
