I booked a four-night stay at the Cricket Field Hotel in Salisbury, and left after three nights. I was told that, because I had booked through Late Rooms, I could not obtain a refund.
I left early because:
My first night, I was relegated to a dolls-house sized room, in a courtyard at the back of the premises. The fixed-head shower was totally useless for my needs. There wasn't space to put anything. One wall of the room was door and window, with floor to ceiling curtain, which did nothing for my claustrophobia.
When I complained next morning and asked to be moved, it took considerable effort to get a move to another room. The first room itself, although still in the outside block, was very much nicer, but the staircase up to it made it positively lethal when carrying anything heavy or bulky - like a suitcase! The shower, although not entirely fixed head, was still useless, a dribble which actually stopped altogether twice; a shower cubicle built for a midget; and nowhere to put anything like shampoo, soap, facecloth etc. The rooms are clearly designed to look very impressive, but just do not function adequately; it's all done to look good, but not actually work!
I have stayed there once before and could not have been happier, I have since consistently thought of it as the best B&B in the world. No more. I will never stay there again, and cannot possibly recomment it.
Taking daughter back to uni in Bournemouth. Her student digs had a burst pipe, so non of the five students could move back in. Late Rooms and the Royal Exeter agreed to cancel the room without a charge, even though it was a after their cancellation policy. Thank you very very much. Nick at Late rooms was wonderful. Eva at the Royal Exeter was wonderful too.
We booked is with you quite a while ago and paid the same £110 in good faith but when we arrived at the hotel "Greys" in Brighton yesterday it was closed for the holiday and we were very lucky that someone who knew the owners of the hotel saw us and came over and told us that they were closed and away for the holiday and helped us find another hotel for the night otherwise we would have had a wasted car journey and ruined our New Year's Eve. As you can appreciate I am not very happy with this situation one bit. Please advise as to how you are going to rectify this bad situation.

I am sure that there is some problem with Late Rooms and their computer system. I had an e mail from the company and a booking reference but when we arrived at the hotel they had no room for us and had no knowledge of our booking. I am currently trying to sort this out with Late Rooms - a very long winded business, They don't seem mortified that this can happen. I've been told to send receipt from alternative accommodation we were forced to book at very short notice! So they want proof! What else could we have done - we had no hotel room! A friend posted on facebook that Asda had missed on line delivery slot but that they were immediately given 100 pounds and no charge for groceries. That;s protecting your brand. Late Rooms have let me down badly and seem unable to make me trust them again. Think twice before using them, A booking reference and confirmation means nothing!
Sadly let down by the hotel. Rooms cold on arrival . WIFI not working , turned out to be wrong code stuck on wall ( with duck tape!). Shower cold, called name on wall , told us boiler goes out , need to knock on room next door to relate boiler. But how can this be when hot water in tap is ok. I suggest he needs to have thermostat valve in shower checked. Shower tray no door only curtain so water would just flood bathroom. Room cleanish, although shabby. Unfortunately the negatives make the acceptable less acceptable. Late rooms needs to be aware of who they promote.
I have booked a number of different hotels/apartments with laterooms.com and everything has always run smoothly! You have a wonderful variety of hotels to offer which are great value for money! I would never use another website to book a hotel! Simple to use straight forward no problems when checking in to hotels! Will DEFIANTLY keep using laterooms.com!!!
they don't publish honest reviews, don't care about after sales and claim they are not responsible for any complaints or lies that the hotels publish on their website!
Quote " we cannot be held responsible or vet every hotel we list "
So that makes it ok when a hotel puts you in a run down house instead of an advertised 3 star hotel room. Namely The Cranbrook Hotel Ilford
Do your self a favour and don't go anywhere near it or laterooms.com, if you do please use a credit card so you can chargeback.
I am totally disappointed and upset with laterooms.com. I made a booking one day before checking in to a hotel in Taipei as it was a sudden change of plans.I received the confirmation email and I head to the hotel next day but to find out that they did not receive my booking( I realized that it is not instant booking via the website). And to make things worse, they did not have the room type that I wanted available(family room). After much negotiation we have to compromise with small room and higher price. The hotel have tried their best to help us with this situation.I tried to call the international customer service number provided by laterooms but was unable to contact them. I don't feel safe using laterooms anymore.
Booking was easy and quick. However despite giving LateRooms my credit card details this is only used to guarantee the booking. there is still a need to pay the hotel direct. this is only in the small print and was overlooked by both me and the hotel! it meant that the hotel need to chase me for payment. The fact that what appears to be a receipt is no such thing and the fact that you need to pay the hotel direct needs to be far more prominent!
I am sorry to say that this last weekend was ruined by Laterooms @;(
A treat for a very fussy mother started to go wrong when we arrived at the bed and breakfast only to find a lonesome cleaner! We were told that as no booking had been received, that the owners had gone away. I explained that I had booked over a week ago, and was told that Laterooms had recently had in-house problems and bookings had not been sent out to accommodations, so nothing had been received.
She was a very helpful cleaner, and did offer to prepare a room, however, explained that it would take some time as it had been fully booked the night before. My mother was not impressed looking around a messy bedroom, so I had to leave and find elsewhere for her to stay.
This was to have been a Christmas treat for my mother, but it ended up being an awful experience.
It's a pity that when you had the melt down, that you couldn't have told your customers of the potential problems, and again, especially after this, I think it imperative that a confirmation booking email be sent out from the hotel/b & b, as if this had been the case and I had not received an email, I would have rung ahead to see if there was a problem. I did receive a confirmation email from you, but this did not help or avoid the problem.
We stayed at Tadpole Inn for three nights. The food was delicious. A very generous breakfast . The rooms were tastefully decorated. A lovely desk in room 1. The owner Helen was very helpful and lovely. Homemade marmalade was delicious. The rooms were spacious and well equiped. Good selection for teas and coffees , shoer gel and yummy biscuits in the room.
I found my single room was warm, clean and better equipped than most including complementary bottle of mineral water and an iron. The decoration and fittings were very tasteful and the included full English breakfast was excellent. Based on my experience I would recommend Culane House Hotel to anyone.
The Double Tree Hilton Milton Keynes Hotel is lovely. Checked in nice and quickly and was very pleased with my modern spacious room on the 4th floor. I opened the curtains to see I had a 'carlsberg' like view of the MK Dons Stadium football pitch. I later discovered that if I checked in before kick off (it was the FA Cup match V AFC Wimbledon that day), I would have had to close the curtains for the duration of the game. Whats the point of the view then?! My major disappointment though was at the Pitch-Side Restaurant. I ordered a Burger (with mushrooms) & Chips off the bar menu, along with a Coke and it came to a whopping £16.50, so I expected heaven on earth. After a 35 minute wait my order arrived. To be honest it did look pretty good with the melted cheese on it, but the burger had bacon, not mushrooms and the chips were only just luke-warm. I sent it back and then a further 15 minutes later my replacement order arrived. This now had new, hot chips, but the exact same burger was returned, which now had 4 small half cut mushrooms thrown on top. Not happy, but time was running out and I needed to eat! So if you're not looking to eat, then this hotel is pretty good, but if you need food, I would certainly go elsewhere as they seem to have a chef who doesn't really have a care on quality.
Booked two apartments for my 30th birthday 8 weeks in advance. Received order confirmation via email that apartments were booked. 5 days before I was due to arrive - I contacted the apartments to confirm parking, the apartment said the bookings were cancelled due to payment.
I explained I hadnt heard anything or hadnt received any emails about cancellation .
The Apartments said i should contact laterooms.com if thats where I made my booking.
Laterooms said that my booking was still active and that they handnt been informed that the apartments had been cancelled.
Laterooms also said it wasnt there responsibility to contact me even though I booked through them.
In the end couldnt find accommodation cheaper enough to sleep 8 people so had to cancel.
THANKS GREAT BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!
Then the water was not in the room. Lack of staff to deal with breakfast; I expressed my concerns to the receptionist - who I have to say was trying her hardest to flip between helping the breakfast staff and doing her job;
There seems to be a Management issue at this hotel; the staff must be available on the time of service (and know what they are doing); no fault of the poor people that were trying their hardest when I was there;
Please take this as +ve feed back'
But then; compared to my recent stays at the Best Western @ Retford; I would not want to pay you more than £50 per night - I pay them £65 per night - get a king size bed, excellent service at bar/breakfast/inclusive everything I needed from a hotel/room twice the size,
what more can I say; you hotel is not up to standard and I want a refund of at least £30 for my 1 night stay; luckily I was only there for 1 night
We stayed at the Albert Hotel in North Queensferry, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. There was TV in the rooms, tea making facilities, iron and ironing board and hairdryer. We were given free access to the internet and the meal we paid for in the evening was excellent.
I would definatetly reccomend this hotel to anybody, really great place.
Our room overlooked the Forth bridge which is an amazing view. Train station 5 minute walk and the bus stopped right outside the door.
Can't fault it in anyway what so ever.
managed to get a last minute room with laterooms.com. one of just a few left in the city centre, Glasgow. checked in, went out with friends, returned at 2.30am shattered! got woken up an hour later from a much needed sleep with the fire alarm! trudged downstairs on a very cold night to wait outside- fire engine arrived. needed toilet facilities badly re the wait in the cold, luckily The Thistle hotel directly across road allowed me in to use theirs, really nice lookin hotel- maybe i'll book early with them soon! asked laterooms about refund, was handed a card with the name of the manageress on it- not good enough, was inconvenienced in more than one way, no apologies, no offer of refund. think again laterooms!!!
Very good service and options. Site is easy to use. Was a little frustrated I had to phone to finalise booking and a mistake was made. However, they did try to find me other rooms in the area.
Will definitely use again.
when we arrived at the Hilton Watford we were greeted by the receptionist who was not at all friendly or helpful made me and my partner feel very uncomfortable, and his English was very poor.
when we arrived in out room it was very clean and tidy we used the restaurant at the Hilton and staff were very friendly and helpful the food was amazing as was the breakfast the following day.
we would definitely stay at the Hilton Watford again.
We wanted to go down to Wigan for the night. Have stayed at The Brocket before and thought I would try late rooms for a cheaper rate. Very pleased with result. Booked it on-line, confirmation very quickly. Printed it out and presented to the Management at The Brocket. No trouble.
The management at The Brocket had phoned us before we left home to confirm which room we wanted - obviously Late Rooms had passed on our comments.
Very happy with everything and will definately use Late Rooms again.
Was looking for Hotels in Paris near Bastille. Found one near my old apartment. Almost booked, but checked reviews of Laterooms and, based on a suggestion, found going to the hotel's website was a whole 10 euros cheaper. Absolutely no point at all in using laterooms. Read other reviews (the bad ones first) and note the date. This was TODAY (November 2012) I'm sure there'll be others.
On 07/09/12 I booked 2 nights at the Raddison Blu through Laterooms.com, it was a late booking and our arrival was that evening. Completed the screen on Laterooms Name, address credit card details etc, and was presented with another screen explaining 'Your Booking Was Successful'. So in the car we go to London, arrive at the Raddisson With reference number, which we present to reception. They explained the booking had not come through, but sometimes it takes sometime. They booked us in and to the room we went, The next morning we leave the hotel for London on the Tube. Half way through our journey I receive and email from Laterooms explaining my booking for last night was unsuccessful, although I had stayed. I immediately got off the tube to call Laterooms, they explained that although it stated my booking was successful and it gave me a reference number, if I had read all the small print, I would of seen it was a request not a booking. There website did say rooms available too at £85. After 45 minutes on the phone to Laterooms I was getting nowhere so decided to return to the hotel to resolve this. I asked to speak to the manager, but after an hour I was getting nowhere so decided to leave. I was charged £206 for one night instead of the £85 Laterooms told me. I don't consider myself stupid and easily conned but Laterooms and The Raddison Blu between them conned me good and proper. Don't believe im the 1st to fall for this, so beware. As for the one night we did stay the room was tatty, plaster missing in the bathroom, staff we unhelpful. I have stayed in most of the hotels, in Bath Rd, and can honestly say this is by far the worst.
I booked a b&b through late rooms. The b&b stated pets accepted. When we arrived we were shown to our room with our dog. 10 minutes later, the managers appeared and very rudely told us to leave as they did not accept dogs and added that they couldn't be bothered to clean the rooms afterwards (sounds unbelievable but true!!!) Myself, my husband, son and dog were forced to be accommodationless at 7.30pm in the middle of nowhere. I contacted late rooms a few days later to complain and obtain a refund. My refund never arrived and I have had to claim it through my credit card as services not provided.
I was invited via email from late rooms to write a review of the b&b. It reflected an honest portrayal of my experience. Late rooms did not publish it. I later asked why via email but no answer. My review was in no way rude or infamatry . From my experience I now believe that the reviews shown on late rooms are biased towards positive and cannot be trusted. My opinion is backed up by reviews of this b&b on other websites (i.e. trip adviser) from people who had similar experiences but trip adviser were not afraid to publish an honest review it would seem.
My advise is to check the reviews on trip adviser and elsewhere before booking and don't just rely late rooms reviews.
I've been using LateRooms for over 5 years now. When I started there was a marked difference between the prices you could get on LateRooms versus the other travel websites. That gap is no longer as pronounced, but it still exists. In terms of the website it is simple to use and packed with good ideas.
One thing that they could improve (for me) in making a generic great deals section - rather than searching by region - Depending on the deal I might travel to the end of the earth!
Overall a straightforward and cheap way to get good UK Hotels.
Having booked a room to coincide with a concert I needed to change the date when the singer for the booked date. On ringing customer services I spoke to a less than helpful adviser, who sounded bored and uncaring.
I was informed that the hotel would only change the date if I agreed to taking an extra night. If I didn't agree then I would loss all my money, regardless of the circumstances. As a result £70 was lost and I was left thinking once again, how in times of recession, companies like this can continue to give such poor customer care. Never again.
