OUTSTANDING!!!!!

I don't know about any of the other store's, but my LOCAL store, I live in Sidcup DA14, has AMAZING Customer Service!! VERY friendly Staff. Long lines at the checkout, but these are to be expected at a shop such as this.

I cant find fault with them, in ANY area...

terrible service and good prices.

Was there few times. Always queue to the till. Once security started war with me because i have used hands to put buns to bag. Other time my trolley was in wrong position begind the till so guy refused to start scaning. When i was paying my son took snickers from the bag and started to eat. Guy started to check recipt, to be sure my 5 years old is nor theft. Shop for poor people and they think that poor people can be treated as a cattle. Never again.

rubbish bags were great now they are rubbish

I always made a special trip to lidl for their rubbish bags because they were so much better than any other brand they did not tear or burst they were made of decent plastic or whatever but now they are even worse than the other brand

Lidl steals from customers

Lidl took double payment from my debitcard and refuses to refund.

Their customer service simply doesn't answer their own webform or emails. It's only when you call them on the telephone that they answer, and even then, they don't even investigate your claim properly. Lidl customer service are worthless and Lidl are thieves!

cheap prices but long wait ry

Good product choice and big store for Blakestown, Dublin 15. Have been a happy customer of this store for years. However recently constant long que even during off peak times are causing a lot of friction at the checkouts.

Amazingly large stock- not just food, surprising items can be had

I really like the stool I got from the Lidl store in Ennis, Ireland. I got quite a surprise to find they have them in the store, as I didn’t expect it, its nuts they carry such a large stock and never cease to amaze with a completely new product line. The packaging was airtight but still easy to open, after a couple of shakes, the stool just dropped out.
My wife recommended I keep the packaging to store the stool, although she made I clear I should not have it in the kitchen. I took a picture of the stool next to its original packaging, and shared it with my friends on facebook. Many could not believe Lidl could sell such a thing, this resulted in many “likes” and facebook shares, they were very interested in the stool.
Apart from me, nobody has tried the stool, so although they “like” it, none have been brave enough to step up on it. My early experience was at breakfast time, having my cereal as per usual, I saw the stool and wondered if it was a step too far, whether I could rise to the challenge. Of course its nuts to think of getting the stool out at breakfast time, my kids asked me not to get it out while they are eating, in case it put them off their food, they said it was a step to far. I suppose they could be right, but I didn’t want to create a stink, so I gave feedback to Lidl about it, including a photo. They asked me to send it back to them for analysis, that was two weeks ago and I’ve not heard anything since I delivered it to my local Lidl. Maybe they think I’m nuts to make such a big deal out of a stool from Lidl, my wife and kids will not have it back in the house, which is a shame because it was quite a talking point when friends came round.

Quality food at a great price

I shop at Lidl in St Neots in Cambridgeshire every week. I much prefer it to Tesco or the other giants as the quality I receive at Lidl is first rate. You do have to watch some of the veg but as you are able to take what you want I always take from the new stuff under the items on sale so theres never a problem. The staff stere are really hard working and very helpful when approached. I am not taken in by all those false bargains you get pushed in your face at Tescos and I can be in and out easily within 45 mins. The non food stuff chsnges every week and is incredible value. I really recommend their in store bakery. The bread is amazing and knocks spots off Tescos rubbish. Well done Lidl. I think you are great!

Staff training at Lidl! Whats that?

I had never been in Lidl at Pool, Redruth in Cornwall before until my husband took me in on Sunday 16th Feb. My husband purchased two boxes of bulbs and some other things, the sign on the bulbs £2.49 each or two for £4. When we got to the check out we were charged £3.49 each. The check out operator called the Duty Assistant Manager over. He shrugged his shoulders never apologised and said some one had put the wrong price on them. I pointed out that it wasn't our fault and we wouldn't have bought them had we have known the price, I also said other supermarkets would rectify their mistakes. He started to walk away, to which I said "This is why I never shop at Lidl". He replied, "Don't come back, I don't care". No I won't nor will any of my friends. What an attitude.

I am working for Lidl and I like this shop.

I am working for Lidl in West Sussex. I am surprised how many bad reviews!
By law you have the right to return faulty item in 1 year of purchase. The customer can choose from to get money back or to exchange the product if we have it in store. Our policy says: Customers can ask for a full refund in 28 days of purchase for any reason. What we always do. There is a condition you MUST have a receipt. If you do not have one you have to call customer line or send a letter to head office with your explanation and they normally send you a letter and with it we will refund it.
Also if the item is sold out and the customer asks to call to different store for it we never refuse.

"freshness guarantee" - a joke

I understand the Lidl/Aldi business model so I do not expect some of the non essentials in terms of layout and service that the established supermarkets provide. However, I do expect the fresh produce to be of saleable quality. I have noticed in the past that their fresh produce does not last anything like as long as competitors but when I recently purchased two packs of green beans and found them to be rotting two days before their sell by date I was less than impressed. It is too far to travel just to take them back to the store so I wrote to Customer Services showing a photo of the rotting product; a copy of the till receipt and asked for a refund plus postage. I received a prompt reply headed "Without Prejudice" and asking for all the information that I had already given in my letter to be repeated! I wrote to the UK Managing Director pointing out the poor response to my letter by his Customer Services Department and asked him to arrange a refund. Two weeks later no acknowledgement let alone a reply. In the course of researching the MD's name I noticed on the Lidl website reference to a "freshness guarantee". I asked Customer Services what this means - they cannot say!

Use Lidl when it is cheap but beware of fresh produce and do not expect any sort of customer service - other reviews on this site confirm this. Clearly the culture is set by the senior management - they don't care so nobody else does.

Bad bad bad customer service from managers

Treated APPALINGLY by the manager and duty manger in the Caerphilly road store cardiff on the 12/1/14 for pointing out the fact it was more polite to show me where a product was rather then a point across the shop and reply ( over there somewhere ) in a complete can't be assed taking tone by the duty manager named Toni! After I told her I been looking for the last 10 minutes. Then when I ask her to show me her reply word for word was ( can't you see I'm busy) Sorry love but all I seen you doing was sitting on your backside casually putting labels on food near there sell by date, Then both managers decide it funny to giggle and laugh as I leave the store! The strangest thing was that there were products similar to the one I wanted right in front of her behind the stack of crates she was next to yet it took an elderly lady (another customer) to point that fact out for me, I hope your reading this as I'm taking this as far as I can! And making it my mission to ruin your reputation and write as many bad reviews as humanly possible Intill I'm satisfied you've been dealt with accordingly!! I have never in my life been treated so badly and left a store feeling as angry and upset as i did. Even two shoppers who followed me out could not believe there attitude towards me, I hope lidl buck up there ideas and maybe give manager jobs to staff who actually want and deserve them! The security guy and young lady at the till were fantastic and could not have been more polite!

Tiny, cramped shops and terrible returns policy

Never really understood why anyone would want to shop at these Aldi/Lidl shops, they aren't any cheaper than the likes of Tesco/Asda etc and have far less choice and variety, They have loads of nasty, unknown own brands that are no better (in my opinion) than the Smart price etc equivalent. Anyway, I bought a extension lead for my computer a while ago (it was a lead with built-in surge protection so I thought it would be useful for my computer) and a few seconds after plugging it in it popped, and smoke started coming out of the side! I immediately took it back to the shop but (sod's law) couldn't for the life of me find the receipt. I'd put it back into it's original packaging so didn't think it would be a problem, located the woman that served me and explained what had happened. To my utter surprise, she told that they would not exchange, refund of even entertain my request to get a replacement. I was told that I would have to send the unit off (at my own expense and risk) to their "warranty centre" where they would "test" the lead to see if it was faulty, and only then would they repair, or replace it!!! I asked for their head office number to challenge this and stormed out of the store disgusted! They confirmed the assistant's story as true and I vowed never to visit a branch of Lidls again!

Good prices, Nice quality,

I recommend Lidl to lots of people. Sure the store doesn't look as fancy as Tesco or Co-op but their food is excellent quality and at a very good price. They also have isles of random things like bathroom accessories and diy products which often come in really handy. They are quick at using the tills and the one by me has recently introduced a fresh bakery where freshly baked goods are sold at a good price.
Thanks Lidl for saving me money.

Customer Service - ZERO

I needed an item in Lidl. We checked Peterborough. This "item" was not in there. So I asked manager, do you have this "item"? Becouse it was in your catalogue two days ago. He said that no, they out of stock!
I asked where else I can get It?
He said try in Stamford.
I asked him politly, can he call to Stamford and make sure that they are not out of the stock as well?
He said: " I don't know Stamfords phone number"
WHAT??? Manager doesn't know other branch phon numder??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
Ok. I find (by my self) customer service number. I called 19.08.2013 (1.08 PM)
Kelly or Carla (I can not remember) was my assistant.
I asked same quastions.
Can you call to Stamford and check "item" that I need.
SHE SAID NO! Sha said you have to drive there!
- I have no time to drive for nothing it is not a lottery. I must be sure it's 30 minutes driving on one way. Hour in total. Please check it for me!
SHE SAID I CAN'T!!! YOU NEED TO GO AND Check it by your self!

OMG.

lidl fiver retention policy

I went to lidl in Hindsford where I bought just over £5 worth of goods. After paying for them with a tenner, I asked the checkout woman if she would let me have a fiver for five ones as I had a lot of change in my pocket. She refused on the grounds that she wanted all her five pound notes for something. When I asked her what for she became a bit confused and then said for change for my customers.I pointed out that I was a customer and could she oblige me , she again refused saying she needed them all.
I cannot understand her attitude but maybe it's not just her awkwardness it may well be that Lidl's have a secret fiver retention policy, and their checkout personnel are instructed to only issue notes when they have used up all their change.

Lidl staff mcok customers!

Went to Iidl store a while back in order to return some recall drinks product. Walked in with products in plain view of CCTV. Was more or less accused of stealing the goods when I asked the manger about issuing a refund. Manager offered a credit note: clearly against all rules! Had paid on card and had receipt at home: regarding recall, the rules are a full refund. Manager clearly does not know the rules. Merely had those products in boot of car so when heard on radio regarding the recall, on way to work, dropped them off as directed to do so.

Manager sent me to till, Staff there held me up in the store, messing me about, was checking CCTV, then was unable to, don't know why. Black woman on till was laughing at me and Asian fat man on another till was mocking me leaning over against the counter. Evidently he eats too much. Have not been back since and will not engage with people who shop in Lidl. Can't stand the company, their horrible plastic bags and the people that held them.

Lidl must compensate me for the distress caused, but as yet have failed to do so. Their staff are rude and in a way demonstrate the types of people that make London a bad place to live. There is no customer service desk in their stores, this is designed so that they treat customers like salves!, mock them, mess them about and Lidl employ degenerates who are good at doing all of this.
Anyway, the good news is since not shopping at Lidl anymore I feel much better, my health is much improved. I think Lidl products were making me feel ill. I don't know where they produce them but I often felt sick when consuming their food and drinks stuff. I'm glad I no longer shop in Lidls. Fell sorry for the people who still do and get caught up in their fake marketing, scams.

Useless Warranty

Don't buy any thing from LIDL that you might need the warranty for!!!! I have a broken blender thats 11 months old ( not in the shop at the moment) I have been trying for weeks to have this repair/replace but nothing!! I have sent numerous emails and made expensive phone calls to no avail. Lots of empty words but no action. If my experiance is any thing to go by the warranty is just a gimmic, thank god it wasn't a PC laptop or large TV. Lidl are going the way of Tesco company first and blow the customer! (tried taking a faulty item back recently it's a right rigmarole) I doubt i'll ever see a new blender or get any compensation for all my time and costs so I wrote this just to warn others BEWARE THEIR WARRANTIES ARE USELESS

Excellent quality

As a dedicated foodie I "discovered" Lidl about a year ago. I was tempted to try it by the rave reviews of their meat on the Pistonheads forum, (my other passion is cars!)
The prices are very fair, but, much more importantly, the quality of their produce really is excellent. I have rediscovered the real tastes of fruit and veg that I had forgotten. Some of their fresh meat is amongst the best I have ever tasted, and I have shopped at some very expensive butchers.
Whilst not a huge operation in this country, they have a wide presence on mainland Europe and elsewhere, and this I think is why their quality is so high. After all, any outfit trying to pass off what other UK supermarkets sell as food would get short shrift from the food conscious folks of Italy France and Spain to name but a few.
What's more, some of their non-food specials also offer remarkable quality at very fair prices.
Some folks have commented on the service, I can only say that my experience of the Peterborough branch is that the staff are helpful, flexible and knowledgeable.
Keep up the good work Lidl, you are doing a lot right, thanks.
I have no connection with Lidl other than as a consumer.
