unhelpful, rude, moody staff. bad customer service. bad 'refund' policy

We ordered and paid for some wall lights from the Manchester store as there wasn't any in stock. Long story short, we went in store for a refund BEFORE WE HAD THE ITEMS. The staff were very unhelpful and refused to give us a refund, even though the items hadn't left their store room. Because we didn't want 'store credit', we were left with no other choice but to take the wall lights which we have no use for.

All in all, do yourself a favour and DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS COMPANY. The manager was very unprofessional and does not treat their customers with respect, they're just after your money.

Poor advice, quick to take your money then don't want to know

After discussing some fittings in their store in Manchester, I spent £220 online with them.

When an electrician came to fit the lights he was concerned about their weight and advised us not to put them up. When I tried to return them, because we were outside of the seven day returns deadline they didn't want to know.

Rubbish company, staffed by people giving rubbish service. By all means shop here but don't expect to return anything.

Very very poor service

If you visit the store and the goods are in stock then fine (but I think they are expensive for Chinese made products) the real problem comes when you have to order something. Ordered two lights in early November 2012 told they would be delivered the week after. 6 weeks later when they arrived and that was only after making phone calls to them and then we find that they only placed the order on the date we phoned them to complain. As others have said the good reports are too over the top to be real in my opinion as I have dealt with this bunch of cowboys twice now and had the same experience each time. Never again!

Arrogant BASTARDS

DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY they take your money and don't deliver the goods. The managers are worse than the sales staff. I had to go there in person and get my money back as they wouldn't refund my credit card.

Litecraft - EXCELLENT SERVICE!

I will simply cut and paste an email i sent to litecraft following purchasing lighting for the whole of down stairs ...all the lights were excellent, well priced and when i had problems with not knowing one of the lights was not dimmable and needed to exchange, then the different replacement had a manufacturing fault (marked glass) they dealt with it all without any issues or problems >>>>(email as sent):

Also fyi the replacement light (initially sent back as it had markings in the glass of the diffuser) arrived today and is absolutely fine. I would like to thank your company, Litecraft, for its excellent customer support and understanding. I am truly impressed and will be a returning customer.

No dispatch after a week, unhelpful staff

I ordered a light fitting and matching energy saver bulbs over a week ago and they are still marked as "not dispatched". Every day I check and every day the estimated dispatch is moved to the next day (tomorrow). I have called numerous times to enquire as to the hold up and every day they promise to call back but don't.

I'm cancelling the order and buying from a shop.

Never again!

I placed an order online for two lamps which appeared to be in stock (according to their system) and I paid for them with my debit card. I later received an email saying my goods were ready for release but they wanted to check my address (I was living in rented accommodation for two months) as it didn't match my debit card registered address. I confirmed this with them to which Litecraft replied that they would release my order. Three days later I then received another email from them saying the lamps had been discontinued and asked if I would like to order something else from their website. I requested a refund which did not materialise! When I chased this up I was told that I had to wait 28 days for this money! I rang up to complain about this but they made me wait 28 days for this money to be returned, money which they took from me for something they did not have in stock. Absolutely disgraceful. This happened over a year ago but I still have the emails which do annoy me from time to time which is why I have now posted this review. I will NEVER buy anything from this company again.

I am sorry that you had this experience with Litecraft.

I am happy to tell you that we have changed a lot of our customer service procedures over the last 12 months and refunds for cancelled orders now only take around 48hrs to process on average.

We have made a lot of improvements and will continue to so we can communicate with our customers better and make sure that they are happy with the product they have purchased from us. Whilst we are trying to continually improve our processes, we will still make mistakes from time to time and we will go out of our way to rectify any issues as soon as possible.

Great Lights

Want some good lights at a decent price then look no furthur than purchasing your lights online from Lightcraft. These same lights cost you a bucket of cash more in the high street. Also they have some you might not find locally in your area. No fuss quick delivery too. Can't be bad.

Took ages to deliver but good product and value

I ordered a light shade from them a short while back and it went about 3 days without a dispatch notification or order update.

It wasn't until I emailed them that they said they'd dispatch it that day but left me wondering how long it would have been had I not emailed.

It was a nice lampshade, very easy to fit and a good price.

extremely helpful staff

Just recently bought a whole house full of lights from their glasgow store and i couldn't be happier. having shoped around i found their range and prices excellent and the 2 members of staff that helped me couldn't be more helpful. I had to return one of my fittings because it didn't fit and I was given a store credit but this wasn't a problem due to their huge selection. i would definately recomend them to anyone, in fact my mother inlaw just went and thanked me for the tip because their store has to be seen to be believed.

Bought 2 Mother and child lamps a year ago next month, one broke down a few months ago Litecraft sent a replacement within 1 week.
The second one broke down a couple of weeks ago, No problem to

"Excellent after sales service"

Bought yet another light fitting from Litecraft. This one seemed to be all ok after checking contents of box but on installation became apparent that 2 small brass wire hooks were missing. Emailed asking for replacements to be sent, had reply in the affirmative the next day, and the replacements arrived in the post ahead of schedule 2 days later. Very prompt and efficient after sales service. It encourages me even more to shop with them again

marvellous help

Ordered and received 6 spiral wall lights , looked at 2 which were fine and left rest unpacked for 6 weeks. On opening found 3 were of the wrong colour. Contacted Litecraft and although I was out of time with my complaint they forwarded 3 new lights to my French address at no cost to myself, They arrived today just 10 days after I first contacted them about the error. This is what I wrote to Barbara at Litecraft to say thankyou.

WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!!!!!

Bought some lights from ideal home show 2011.
Wrong lights were delivered.
Shades were broken.
Rude customer service. Hardly ever answered the phone. Literally took 50 phonecalls to eventually get the right lights delivered.
Don't know how they even managed to set up their company at the ideal how show.
DON'T EVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY - THEY NEED TO CLOSE DOWN!

Not even an apology

Very poor communication. Hopeless on telephone when I called wanting an update on delivery (4 months after order placed). service was terrible and dishonest. Lied to on the phone time and time again. Finally got refund after having to beg. I emailed litecraft to say I was going to leave feed back on websites but again they ignored me. I did not even get an apology for the way they treated me as a customer. This was a stressful transaction avoid this company

They dont even deserve one star - do not use them

I ordered a lamp in January and paid for it and am STILL waiting for it to be delivered . Have now been told it will arrive in June . An absolute disgrace . I pity the people who have to work there as they must be totally embarrassed by the customer service .

This company is bordering on illegal business practice

It is unbelievable that this company is still operating however if you scratch beneath the surface it is clear to see how.

I ordered a lamp in March 2011 and was told by the sales advisor that there was a 8-10 day waiting period for the stock to arrive from the suppliers. Having thought this was a little disappointing, I accepted it and thought no more until 2 weeks had passed and I hadn't heard anything back. After contacting the store, the staff then unapologetically informed me that the lamp was now due in the store at the start of May. Feeling slightly anxious about this, upon further investigation the sales advisor told me that "this had never happened before" which i now know is absolute rubbish after reading countless similar experiences and that "the 'supplier' was still waiting on their stock to come in before dispatching out to the litecraft stores". After supressing my better judgement, I hesitantly agreed to wait until May. Now we are in the month of May and nothing has changed and if anything things have become worse. After numerous phone calls which were unanswered I went to the store insisting on speaking to someone face to face. Again i was told that I would have to wait a further 2 weeks for the lamp as it was due in to the suppliers at this point. After phoning again today, I've been told that it will now be another week AT THE EARLIEST until it arrives. I have been told FOUR false dates of when i should expect to have my product which I HAVE PAID FOR. All the while, litecraft are continuing to take sales on the SAME lamp i have ordered despite not having any in stock.

Litecraft will take your money put it in their banks and benefit from all the interest accumulated from innocent customers' money while feeding you lies upon lies. The staff say one thing and another will uncover their lies unintentionally as the best i have heard from litecraft today is that my order hasn't ever been recorded. I am now demanding a refund which i am told will have to be approved by the allusive store manager. I am sickened that my refund must be 'approved', The Sale of Good Act 1979 clearly states that for a legitimate transaction to occur, an exchange will occur...well it's been a one way exchange and I am now seeking advice from trading standards and will not let them get away with my money.

PLEASE HOLD ONTO YOUR MONEY AND SHOP ELSEWHERE.

One more point, many of the positive reviews are posted by the staff of litecraft to counteract the bulk of negative comments.

Failure to supply my order

I ordered three wall lamps in early January 2011, for which I had to pay in full. After I had placed my order. when I first chased its non-delivery,I was told that these items were on "Pre-order" and that they were not in stock and that I would have to wait 8 weeks.

The items never arrived and in early May 2011 I cancelled my order. I am now awaiting a refund. I have enlisted help from Mastercard in achieving this

Every time I called Litecraft, I was received an abrupt, unsympathetic and unhelpful response from the Customer Service team. At no stage did Litecraft ever contact me to advise what was going on.

This is an unscrupulous and cynical company. Do not buy from them.

LITECRAFT - DISMAL CUSTOMER SERVICES

I bought £300 worth of lighting before Christmas 2011 with Litecraft Thurrock. One light was not working, they said they sent it to the manufacturers. We have subesquently been told the Thurrock store has closed down and after 13, yes 13 phone calls and each time being told they will call back AND NEVER DO! We are still at our witts end! HELP! Terrible customer service, no wonder one store has closed, will there be more to follow? Also doesnt help that staff in each store are always changing and moving from store to store so when you want to talk to the person you spoke to last week they arent there and havent passed on your query! DON'T BUY FROM LITECRAFT!

Exceptional Customer Service

Ordered a Floor and Table Lamp, these arrived extremely quickly both very well packaged and both fantastic quality and very stylish. The shade to the Floor Lamp [tho protected very well within its box] had some indentations; phone Litecraft and they were extremely polite and apologised - a replacement shade arrived with days. VERY, VERY impressed with this Company and would not hesitate to recommend. Friendly, fast, effecient service - brilliant.

Still waiting for refund

Ordered 2 sets of light twigs on line - didn't hear anything - so contacted them - they didn't have them in stock and didn't know whether they would be getting them back in - so I asked for a refund -still waiting. I asked if you dont have item and dont know if you will be getting it back, why take money? Told I must have ordered just as last stock went. So I went back into website and found I could still order item. Told them this - they said it wasnt their fault must be a backlog with I.T. Told might take 3 weeks for refund-one for Mary Portas!

Excellent Service from Litecraft

I purchased two, twin wall light fittings with glass globes on-line but unfortunately one of the globes was smashed when received. I e-mailed Litecraft who acknowledged by return. I was told that the units were now discontinued but that a replacement had been sourced at one of their stores and would be sent to me. I e-mailed to ask when I could expect the replacement and was advised, again by return, that there was a slight delay due to the Christmas post and the weather, which was to be expected. Today I received the goods - absolutely excellent service, far and away better than most.

What a joke - save your money and shop elsewhere. PLEASE!

Wish I'd found this forum before I purchased from Litecraft. I've been messed around for nine weeks. My order was never delivered. I chased and chased, after six weeks no delivery so called to cancel my order. No response, but the light appeared a week later! I don't think they deserve my custom after being messed about so much. I want a refund but get 'computer says no' from the CS team.

EXCELLENT PROMPT SERVICE

Delivery of the ceramic wall lights ordered was prompt. Unfortunately, one of the lights was broken in transit, in spite of effective packaging. On informing Litecraft of the problem, I received a prompt response telling me that a replacement light was on its way. This arrived in the next post. I am delighted with the lights which are exactly as described and pictured on the website; also very pleased with the excellent customer service.

A beautiful Dinning Room Chandelier

I found this site through Google shopping. They appeared to be chaeper than everywhere else with some really good chandeliers. Ordered it on Monday. Arrived Tuesday. Put up Wednesday in time for my dinner party on Thursday. It looks beautiful and all my guest complimented me on it. They could not believe just how little it costs compared to the quality. I think you will have all of my guest buying from litecraft in the future, I certainly will. Thanks

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE

We received 2xTwiggy 18 and 2 x Twiggy 7 lights a couple of days after order back in January 2010. We didn't attempt to fit the lights until last week as set some time aside to carry out renovations and redecoration to our living room which we duly completed last week. Upon fitting one of the Twiggy 18 ceiling lights it was noted by our electrician that the LV Transformer was faulty. We contacted the Customer Service Dept at Litecraft and promptly received the replacement transformer the next day.... and the electrician fitted it too! All are now working and are fine.... In recent times where positive recognition for staff actions sometimes seems to be lacking, both my wife and I wanted Litecraft to know that we were extremely pleased with how efficiently their CS Department has dealt with our fault issue and the rapid and positive response we have received from their Customer Service Staff in particular a lady that unfortunately my wife couldn't recall her name. We shall certainly come back to Litecraft first should we require any new light fittings in future.... Customer Service at it's best!!! Thanks Again!! Best Regards Mr C Evans

At my limit with them now...

Bought very expensive lights. They were delivered smashed. Phoned and asked that replacement be delivered to store for me to collect. So they delivered one of the three items to home again in bits. Am trying to get a refund. One of the lights we haven't had in bits or otherwise. Been over a month now. Just contacting trading standards today.

Excellent quality, value for money and service

I have absolutely no qualms in recommending Litecraft. The lights I ordered were all really lovely and just as they appeared on the website, so I got the quality I was expecting, plus very competitive prices. The staff were excellent - very helpful and polite and the lights were all very well packaged. I will definitely use Litecraft again and have every confidence in the company and their products. I have to say that had I read all the reviews prior to ordering, I would have been a bit wary, because the customers who've had bad experiences seem to have had a REALLY dreadful time and those who've had good experiences seem almost too good to be true - but I'm definitely one of the latter. It does look odd that there are such extremes of opinion, but I can only judge Litecraft on personal experience, which was very positive and renewed my faith in ordering online from what I consider to be a very reputable company.

I was very surprised with the great quality!

With such a huge range and great prices i wasn't sure what the quality of these fittings would be like. Also i was cautious due to there being some bad reviews.
I ordered 1 pendant from litecraft and another more expensive one from elsewhere.

They both came within 2 days but when I compared the quality the litecraft one seemed better. I sent the other one back for a full refund and order 4 more fittings from litecraft.

They all came the next day. I can only write as i have found and i have found litecraft to be very efficient, offer a great range and be excellent value for money.

Worst Shopping Experience Ever!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay well away from this company! Shocking customer service they don't have the common decency to return calls or respond to letters and emails!. I have had to get Trade and Standards involved just to get a full refund! An on-going case since March 2010. Would never use this company again or recommend to friends!!!!!!

Awful Awful Awful!!!

Purchased a light at the Ideal Home show and advised we were going on holiday so it needed to be delivered after the 18th May 2010 once we had returned - we were told this was fine. The light was delivered the first week in May but fortunately a neighbour was around to store it for us. The light doesn't work, called to ask for a replacement, all of the staff are extremely rude and unhelpful and I was advised that we needed to pay £15 for a courier to collect the light and for an electrician to test that it is actually broken. Advised the customer services at Litecraft of the Trading Standards rules & regs and that they need to send us a replacement and collect the broken light at no cost to us and haven't heard anything since. So we are left with a broken light and nobody returning my calls. Now trying to contact Geoff Filson the MD but obviously that's easier said than done. DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY - GO TO JOHN LEWIS WHERE GREAT SERVICE IS ALWAYS GUARANTEED!

Brilliant -vast choice - great customer service

I wanted to purchase several lights for my home and a friend recommended this site. What a choice! After spending days narrowing down my choices I placed my order on line. Four out of the five lights I ordered arrived two days later (its said next day on the the site but I did place my order late afternoon and had not realised there was a cut off time).

I had an email to explain that the fifth light would be with me within 7 days as they were out of stock but it actually arrived 2 days later.

Fabulous lights - great service - will definately use again and recommend to friends and family.

I was worried about the quality and delivery time after reading many of the reviews but thought for the price they were it was worth a crack

Appalling service - avoid any dealings with this company.

26 May 2010 Order Placed.
28 May 2010 Goods Received. Oval Bulkhead delivered, not Square Bulkhead as ordered.
28 May 2010 Sent email to Litecraft explaining that wrong item was delivered.
31 May 2010 Received email response with returns form attached.
2 June 2010 Sent incorrect item back via Post Office first class post at my expense.
7 June 2010 No replacement received yet; sent email asking for status of replacement.
7 June 2010 Received email response stating they had a 10 day returns process, and correct item will be dispatched within next two days.
8 June 2010 Received correct replacement item, but in a re-used box. Screws and other fixings were loose in the unit.
8 June 2010 I examined the replacement unit and found that it had a red piece of sticky tape on the underside of the mounting plate containing the word “FAULTY”. I tested the unit and discovered that it did not work. Sent email to Litecraft stating that the replacement item was faulty, and advised them that I did not wish to have any further dealings with the company. Advised them that if they wanted the faulty unit back, they would have to arrange to collect it themselves.
9 June 2010 Received email from Litecraft asking for a date when the faulty item could be collected by courier. There was no acknowledgement of the problems I had had, nor any form of apology for the appalling service I had received.
10 June 2010 Faulty item collected by Courier.
14 June 2010 Following my posting of adverse comments on various review sites, a full refund of the cost of the faulty item and my postage costs appeared on credit card statement. There has been no apology nor acknowledgment of the problems I had had.
