Amazon ruin Lovefilm

What a spectacular disaster the changes made by Amazon are. Take a good service with nicely designed intuitive, modern web site and shoe-horn it into the dated Amazon web site, reduce the functionality, make it really ugly and difficult to use - good job Amazon! On top on this don't bother sending out discs to your paying customers.

Who on earth could be responsible for this and think that it's a good idea?! The lovefilm people knew what they were doing, Amazon's clearly don't. I don't really care if you call it Lovefilm, Amazon Lovefilm, Amzon Prime or Amazon Inferior - but now would be a good time to buy shares in Netflix!!!

great service ruined

Since Lovefilm Instant has been rebranded, I'm now expected to pay for things that were previously part of the package. Even programs that are fee to air and available elsewhere (Peep show on 4od for example) are charged at nearly £2 per episode. Final staw, my subscription has been cancelled after several years of use. Very short sighted in my opinion. Furthermore, they're still ignoring Android users by not providing an app for streaming, something Netflix have been doing for years now. Lamentable.

Why do I have to now pay to rent/buy programmes that were included before?

We got the email to say that love film was becoming part of amazon prime, but that only the name would change. What utter lies.

We only really subscribed to the streaming because our daughter loves The Smurfs amd they had all the series on love film. The day it became Amazon Prime, we went to watch an episode, only to be prompted to buy or rent it. And weirdly, ramdom episodes like 8 and 12 would be available as normal while the rest were chargeable. Bl**dy disgusting.

Customer services had no clue and promised it would be back to normal in a few days and promised to call us back then. We got no call.

Service cancelled and dvds ordered instead.

I never loved love film and preferred Netflix anyway but would still have been with them had this not happened. Thanks for saving me money, Amazon!

shoddy

deleting all of customers' past film reviews and ratings. why do they do that? is it that they have too many customers and want to reduce the number quickly? will probably work.

Since changing to Amazon it's impossible to navigate - cancelling service now

It's ridiculous -why did they have to change the look of the website which was simple to use to something which now basically now wants to make you pay even more money than your monthly subscription. i have just cancelled instant prime -now trying to cancel the other package but finding it very hard to even do that. Useless.

Amazon have ruined a great company which was Love Film!

I have been a customer of love film for a couple of years now and it WAS brilliant! I payed £9.99 for the disc/streaming service and it worked brilliant every time. I received the email to change over to the amazon account, which I tried and tried. Only for the log in to say 'Your LOVEFiLM subscription is no longer active'.

No customer service!!!

Why it says this I do not know, I never canceled (yet) and then amazon promoted for me to pay £80 I join (not very easy to spot them trying to do this).
Amazon have ruined a great company which was Love Film!

I have sent three emails no reply after a week.
Looks like I will be joining netflix very soon.

After 7 years goodbye and good riddance

I have been on lovefilm for over 7 years. However now big greedy amazon an American company who pay low wages and little tax in this country have took over. Down goes the service overnight. It takes days for the DVDs to arrive after you have found the button. Other films such as gattaca (release date 1998) have to be paid for on top of the service. A nice simple, great service has been ruined by idiots hell bent on their own greed.you have to have principles in life . One of mine is simple. I won't be mucked around by anybody so good bye . Pity I was a customer for life. While I am at it I will close my amazon account as well. I would advise other people to do the same. It is only by this way we can stop them treating us like this.

Amazon making a great service poor in order to force the 'death of physical media'.

I'm sick of companies trying to force me down the streaming/digital route, I WANT PHYSICAL MEDIA. It's better quality. Amazon have basically buried the DVD/Blu-ray by post part of LoveFilm behind layers and layers of rubbish that tries to force you to go down the streaming route.

They've done this because they want to kill of the physical media side of the business because they've bought into the meme that digital/streaming is 'the future.' It's not. I was going to sign up to LoveFilm but now that its a confused mess I'll go elsewhere. Streaming is there to compete with TV channels like Sky and ITV, it's not there to compete with DVD/Blu-Rays.

Why ruin a fantastic service like Lovefilm?

I have been with Lovefilm for about 5 years and had come to rely on it for easy access to rent DVDs in the post. Amazon bought into a fantastic product with a good, simple functional interface. but overnight they seem to have gone out of their way to make it difficult to use. The "Lovefilm by post" page is buried deep within the amazon.co.uk website and seems to be an afterthought to their plan to try and take on Netflix. I've not got time to go into how ugly and counter-intuitive its layout is but I really hope that they think again and go back to the original Lovefilm interface - all they had to dow as change the name. Amazon may be a faceless mega-corp but until now I have always been satisfied with their services but I must say that I am really disappointed. I'll see how things go but if there's no significant improvement I will cancel my membership.

Amazon Prime = Ripoff

I signed up Lovefilm to have unlimited online streaming and DVD by post. Since they changed over to Amazon, they have asked me for payment for every streaming. The new Amazon menu is confusing and rubbish. The lovefilm by post button is so small that it took me a while to find it. They sent me two DVD by post a week ago and there are no sign of them. This is a seriously bad business practice that is driven by greed, treating customers like fools and milking their money like cash cows. I am sure a large number of people have been cancelling their accounts!

Down the drain!!!!!!!

I'm glad it's not just me. I was starting to get a complex.
I couldn't work out why our DVDs hadn't turned up.
Went online only to be told I wasn't a member of lovefilm?
I've been with them from the start, Years?
No info, no nothing. All I could get was that I could login using my Amazon account. That was the start. Round and round in circles.
Only ever to end up back at the same page telling me how simple the transition is. Is it B*****KS.
Finally went into Amazon main login page.
Thats where it started getting really infuriating. After about 15mins of ready this policy and that policy, trying to decipher what package I was now on. Lovefilm instant? Who ever ask me if I wanted that? Where was the link to Lovefilm by post??????
Ended up having to cancel Amazon Prime @£79.00 a year which was full of crap I didn't want, BUT according to Amazon I was getting an amazing deal??????
I've now had to sign up on a 30 day free trial, lost all of my previous history because according to Amazon i've never been a member of lovefilm.
3 days later i'm still waiting for my first DVD to be dispatched. Is this the future of Lovefilm??? If it is they can stick it in their ear!!!!!!!!
OH and don't bother looking for a contact us or a telephone number or anyway to speak to a human because it ain't there.

Amazon Why? -----( You have ruined the amazing lovefilm service)

Greed! Greed! Greed! Amazon have destroyed what was an amazing easy to use service. Lovefilm ticked all the boxes, good content, one off monthly price and easy to navigate. Keep it good, keep it simple and keep it reasonable. 3 key things for most consumers but amazon think they know better! There changes in lovefilm have been ridiculous. My wife was watching Greys Anatomy one night as part of the monthly fee and the next night when lovefilm changed to amazon instant video they wanted £1.89 per episode or £21 for a season x 9 seasons, we previously had this as part of one monthly fee. It is greed of the highest order as a dvd box-set of Greys Anatomy is only £9 and amazon want £21 to watch it online as well as your monthly £5.99 subscription. I even thought at first stick with amazon and see if it changes as they settle into the instant streaming world. Then the same thing happened with shamless. Halfway through season one (all seasons for monthly subscription) then bang the next night they want £1.89 an episode. I have now cancelled my subscription and signed on with netflix, which is a good service and I pay £5.99 a month and all the content on it is covered for this price. Farewell lovefilm, you were once great, but are now over priced and full of corporate greed!!

Amazon have runied Lovefilm

Well Lovefilm has just been switched to teh new amazon interface and its a mess , nothings easy to find any more and there has been several working days where no discs have been sent out to me despite all of my discs showing as having been returned and my rental list being full . Thank you Amazon for messing up lovefilm !!!

Change to Amazon site has RUINED the user experience

When I used the LOVEFiLM site it give a clear, enthusiastic user experience. You felt the company and staff loved films and the site was dedicated to you as a film fan. This has been stripped all away moving to the Amazon site. It feel extremely confusing and soulless. The department filter can conveniently swap from LOVEFiLM by POST to the normal DVD & Blu-ray dept.

It gives an impression that they want you to give up on the service and just start buying films from Amazon instead. A terrible change and has left me thinking of cancelling.

Amazon takes over the world !!

Well they've ruined love film such a shame, suddenly everything has a price tag next to it, it's not easy to locate your rental list find new films, and now I've just been sent 2 blu rays that I've already seen !!, oh and did I mention there is a price tag on everything now, poor selection with very little new "cost 0£" things to chose from, too easy for children to run up big bills without parents knowing.
Why change a good system? going to give Netflix a try.

I was loyal, now I find it awful!!!

I have been with Love film and Netflix since October 2013. This gives a great mix of films, but Netflix has always been the stronger. My children have Blue ray players in their rooms and they can watch anything with zero cost, so a great system. That was until a few days ago, when my daughter asked me if she could "hire" a film On Lovefilm she needed to watch for her English project. I told her not to be silly, all the films are free. She insisted it was not free, so I looked at her blue ray player and found that she was about to hire "Brighton Rock" for £3:49. I could not believe it, all the films had pricetags on Love film. Love film has been killed by Amazon. I looked at Love film on my XBox1 and no pricetags. Was I going to get charged or not, I could not figure this out, what an awful mess. What has really annoyed me, is that my kids could (and may have) run up a very large bill thinking they could still watch anything. I could have spent money on my XBox1 without realising, as it did not have pricetags. As for "Brighton Rock", it is available in a double play Blue ray and DVD pack for £3:48 at Play.com. How can the Blue ray be cheaper to buy than it is to rent from Love film/Amazon - way too over priced, even if anyone was gullible enough to pay for the films. I could not work out what was Amazon film, what was Prime and what was Love film or how to control this mess. I phoned Amazon and congratulated them on killing Love film. I am not prepared to pay for streaming and then pay per film, so I have cancelled Lovefilm. What I am most annoyed about is that without notification, they allowed the opportunity for my kids to spend serious money on films they had every reason to expect to be free. My subscription runs until the end of the month, but we cannot use it, as we could get charged and not realise.

If you are looking for a streaming service, then it has to be Netflix, cheaper than Amazon, better video quality, wider selection of content, better content, no pricetags and available on more devices.

I sent a tweet to Amazon video, they ignore you if you do not like the mess they have created. They are not interested in what their customers think.

Love film/Amazon, I resent having to give you 1 star, but I cannot give you zero.

How not to run a streaming service

If you have ever used Netflix, you will be used to their slick interface, either through apps or their website. The new Amazon Instant Video is terrible. Amazon constantly try to push you buy DVD's, Movies that you believe are part of your streaming service aren't, requiring an additional payment. They don't even show you what you were previously watching so you can carry it on.
A truly wasted experience that makes Netflix look like a bargain.

Amazon clueless .Come back LOVEFILM

I am about to cancel rentals,Lovefilm where great been with them over 10 years, but since Amazon have taken over they are next to useless in the rental service,I am on the 3 disc package and only received 1 film in the last 10 days, normally with lovefilm I would of received at least 6 films.

Ruined by move to Amazon...

Rather than showing the rentals I may have, I now get an Amazon shopping page asking if I'd like to buy the film / episode!

Netflix here I come!
