My only complaint with Lovefilm is that they say "unlimited", but it is actually limited by their poor turnaround time. I am waiting at least 4 days inbetween sending back a dvd and getting the next one delivered, but its more like a week.
Lovefilm have been awful from go, what a mess; they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. It all started when a Lovefilm sales rep popped round our house on their door to door sales. She was lovely and asked if I went to the cinema a lot to which I explained I would like to but it was too expensive. She the told me with excitement that I could watch cinema releases with Lovefilm and I didn't hesitate to sign up with 3 months for the price of 1 and apparently, as she described, new releases coming out so often that she couldn't keep up with the numbers. As soon as I'd paid, in front of her, I went to find the cinema releases, asking her where they were. She told me not to be silly as nowhere could show movies the same time they were out at the cinema, but Lovefilm would be the first to get them on DVD. Well, since she'd just told me I could watch cinema releases that was lie number one and secondly, Lovefilm barely ever get new releases out- hardly the numbers she was talking about. In fact, since I'd last had an account years ago, there had been like 2 new movies put on the instant play. Also, Lovefilm are never the first to get cinema releases to DVD, it takes them AGES to get anything out. Just go and look on their site you can see for yourself.
Any way, after that bout of lying I called up Lovefilm who in all fairness, refunded my money and gave me the 3 months for free. I thought well, that's the end of it then how nice. But nope. For some reason, I can only get discs and the instant movies online, which all accounts should have access to, keep getting restricted. They fixed it for me once, but it keeps happening. I've had enough of it. On top of that, they sent my first DVD out to the wrong house, because the rep, despite being AT MY HOUSE got the address wrong. When they had finally sorted that out, they sent a couple of DVD's out- but they were the ones on my list which I had already seen on the instants. They then sent the same DVD out twice in a row! I've simply had it with these people, I couldn't imagine paying for a service like this with so many problems. Initially, I wasn't going to write a review, I was going to let them fix it but I've had enough after not being able to watch the movies online and getting the same one twice in the post. What a waste of everyone's time. Don't bother.

have used in the past with great success and loved it . I left and was sent a promotion to return that I tried to redeem . This is where it all goes wrong for Lovefilm.
Numerous phonecalls and emails later , I still cannot use the promotion to return . The employees trot out the same scripted responses time after time. They do not actually read emails and contradict each others responses .
Terrible , I would not use again , very frustrating !
Hello,
Lovefilm is just another company that has a very poor customer service.
After buying something of Amazon months ago I got a leaflet saying that I will get £20 to spend on Amazon if I register with Lovefilm so I did. After waiting a month I sent an email to Lovefilm asking about the £20 but never got any reply so I cancelled the account.
Recently I have reactivated it as got a 12 months free Lovefilm Instant subscription. After checking my latest bank statement I noticed that they still charged me £4.99 for the first month so I sent them an email asking for explanation. That's their reply:
"I'm sorry to advise you that we are unable to retrieve the billing
history at the moment due to an error. Unfortunately, we will not be able to assist you with this."
What kind of reply is that !!! Why would I care about their internal errors. They obviously don't care about Customer Experience or their Firstline never had any proper training.
Also, notice that their support number is 0844 whereas Netflix uses free 0800.
Lovefilm - better change your strategy or you'll be left behind !!!

I signed up for the 30 day instant streaming free trial and am very disappointed! I watched 2 films, the 2nd one did nothing but buffer and after an hour of patience i gave up. Tried to watch a 3rd and the option to watch now kept appearing but once clicked on it trying to make me rent! I wanted instant streaming for a reason and do not want to rent so after searching and trying to figure out why it would no longer let me want now and having no luck I cancelled immediately. Will not be recommending.

I'm actually just going to copy my email to them:
My email below was never answered. I left it as it was because I have too much in my life to chase after (again and again). I have since streamed one film for the kids, but once we were into the package and looked at what was available to stream the selection is lousy. The '1000's' quoted are mainly made up of series not films, whatever genre you look at. It wasn't possible to see this before using the service. Today I thought I'd have another attempt and wanted to watch star wars with the kids - thinking that's so old surely it's available to stream. IT doesn't seem to be. Maybes it's me not using it right, but there's no way to search just the streamed films is there? the only option therefore is to put star wars into the search box at top right of main screen. Lots of ones to rent come up and searching through all of these there's none to stream. Going through the genre option under the instant option doesn't allow you to search but can filter by most popular - again me thinking star wars will turn up under here, but what is most popular a series calles space 1999 made in the 70's!!!!
Please, please just cancel now. Let me know when the current payment runs to and I'll try and find something worth watching. If you had bothered to answer my last email I might have gone back to renting DVD's as compared to Instant it was amazing. But I'll not be doing that because I don't like being ignored.
I wish I had read more of the poor reviews of Instant before I agreed to it.

If I could have given no stars I would have!! I will never use this service again! I have watched one film since I signed up! That is for two reasons! One - there is a very poor selection of films on offer! Two - is that it can't be used outside the UK. I opted for the online streaming of films in the package I pay for, so I assumed that i'd be able to watch them anywhere, anytime since I've already paid for it!! I tried to watch a film on holiday and because of my location it wouldn't let me! I can access my facebook account anywhere I want though!! Stupid lovefilm.com won't be getting anymore of my money or any of my friends and families money if I can help it!! I DO NOT recommend!

Imagine a store where you have to climb a 50 ft ladder in order to enter, just to be told that you have to be authorised before you are allowed entry and you have my experience with trying to sign up for Lovefilm.
Wanting to watch a movie, my girlfriend and I decided to try a streaming service for the first time.
Going to IMDB, we saw an ad for Lovefilm and thought it sounded like a great service, so I signed up for the service in hope of watching a movie within the next few minutes, alas no luck there.
Since they offer you to rent movies by mail, you have to state your address, in addition to the regular details (e-mail, credit card etc) you usually have to give, which is fair enough. But afterwards the site stated that my e-mail needed somewhere between 5 and 30 characters, which it has, and I had to input the information again, which was annoying, but not a deal breaker.
So with drinks and snacks on the table, we were finally ready to watch our movie of choice, and eagerly pressed "Play", just to be met by the message that the account needed to be authorised, before we could start watching. This threatened to mark the end of our movie night, had it not been for a competing service which we were able to sign up to, and have a movie running in, in less than 2 minutes.
I would really have liked to have written a review telling how great their selection is and praising Lovefilm's ease of use, but the obstacle for becoming a customer was quite simply too high in this case for me to experience any of the above and I moved straight to a competing service with a no-hassle signup process.
Other people might have better luck and/or patience than I, but as far as I'm concerned, Lovefilm have failed miserably at one of the simplest tasks of consumer care - making a good first impression.
PS: During the movie I got an email saying my account wasn't authorised because another account using my e-mail address was using it. Either someone else is using my e-mail for their Lovefilm subscription or Lovefilm tried registering me twice, since I had to input the information twice, either way, I don't know and don't care.
LOVEFiLM,
CARS Credit Link Recovery Solutions Ltd has been sending me letters asking for £10 for a DVD it says I have not sent back to you.
Your CARS reference: 5*******
I was away on holiday for a while but when I got back from holiday I posted the DVD 'Brighton Rock'. back to you on Monday 10th September 2012.
The DVD I had before that was "Never Let Me Go", which I posted back to you months ago in June or July I believe.
You should have definitely got both DVDs by now.
Please can you confirm you have got both DVDs back and inform CARS UK that you have got it and cancel their services.
...
I am very disappointed that I have been treated this way by you resorting to a credit reference agency, sullying my credit record, and forcing me to spend precious time writing emails like this to you.
You did not even bother to contact me personally yourselves, over a simple error involving me changing my bank account, forgetting to notify you and then going on holiday.
When you have sorted this out I would like a letter from CARS also to say that the debt has been cancelled.
I have been a long-term and loyal Lovefilm customer, but this has really put me off staying with you.
dont watch tv but do watch stuff on-line
get DVDs delivered no hurry to watch free returns
on-line streaming for movies TV show ect
no lag does great
I have just had an extremely pushy sales woman at my front door. She lied about the cost intially stating it was free. Then later less than a £5.( It's 5.99) She stated that i would actually have to opt in and if i didn't i wouldn't be charged at the end of 3 months. Lies. She tried to compare it too sky even when i said i get my phone and broadband through Sky. It does not do those things. She only left when i told her that i felt that she was pressurizing me. After she left i watched a piece about this company on watchdog archives. They made misleading claims which they apologized for in September 2011 but they have not changed one bit. I will never use this company or their parent company amazon again. The pressure put on me left me very upset and i am a psychiatric nurse so how would your gran react. Please cancel your subscription and use another company. They do not deserve anyone's custom.
They only get one star because there is no way of giving them none.

Ok so here's my second review (I'm still a little bored and in need of something to do)
Lovefilm. What can I say. I don't really think about it any more it just happens. There has been the odd issue, where I sent back a dvd and it took ages to arrive back, and where they sent me the wrong disc. But hey mistakes happen from time to time, and the way I look at it, it's how you deal with those mistakes that really define you, and they dealt with it, no hassle, that's what I like, there's enough stress in this world already!
Anyway I have my list of films, I tend to add a few here and there, they come, I watch, I send them back. I also have the games option too but haven't made much use of that yet. To be precise my package consists of unlimited dvd/blu-ray/games, 2 discs at a time, and unlimited online streaming.
I can't remember exactly what I pay now, around £10 a month I think, but considering what I used to be paying at blockbuster that's fine with me.
I'd definitely recommend them, and I'm pretty sure they do a free trial, so give them a go, what have you got to lose. :-)
I use lovefilm for renting DVDs and computer games on disc, which they are great at. Discs arrive fast and in good condition. Their range of titles is really impressive. There are some they dont have, but not many. Much wider variety than Netflix, although also quite a bit more expensive.
I'm a student and a lovefilm empolyee approached me on the street in Lincoln. He was really hard to get away from and kept standing in front of me when I tried to walk away. I listened to what he said and when he explained to me that I'd get £60 worth of Amazon vouchers for signing up for 3 months, with 2 of them being free, i thought it was well worth the money! He even said to just cancel it after the 3 months and take the vouchers, which would help by books I needed etc.
I never got the vouchers and when I enquired about it, it turned out I had been well and truly tricked into signing up for lovefilm. I have to write this review as it made me think just how many people they are willing to lie to in order to get them to sign up. Even if its just small things like saying you will be able to watch more for free than you actually can etc. I don't trust a company who are willing to let their employees lie to people and trick consumers into giving them their money.
They obviously don't think that the service is good enough or they wouldn't have had to add false extra incentives to get customers. I luckily got my money back in the end, but the whole experience has put me off ever going near lovefilm again.
You also have to pay for films and things that aren't in your deal which seems to be an awful lot of them for the price you pay every month! Not worth signing up to. The only reason I'm giving one star is because I was able to get my money back...

After receiving an email from lovefilm assuring me that there was plenty of films with subtitles with their online instant films I went ahead and tried the free trial.
Same evening I spent about an hour searching for one with no luck.
Terrible company for not supplying subtitles when most modern movies already have them on the actual DVD.
Would not recommend if you rely on subtitles.
Recently took up a free trial with LoveFilm, once my trial was almost at its end I decided to cancel and try the other competitor NetFlix but I couldn't find anywhere online to cancel my subscription and by the time I managed to get through to a sales person I was told I had to give 30 days notice and I was billed :( Eventually found (in a hidden tiny corner of the site) where to cancel subscription
we cancelled lovefilm just before it was due to run out next day we had money put into our bank out and they took their money. We wanted to cancel due to the films are old and they do not update to more recent films. So we are know sticking to sky movies. Would not recommend lovefilm to anyone

Love the service, the films are quick to arrive and always a pleasure to watch and enjoy. the online service to chose your next film is quick, efficient and simple to use!
Give it a try, you will just get film after film after film!!!
I love lovefilm I dont have to buy dvds or go to rental shop works really well for me
Tried downloading a film from itunes once and it took 2 days so the old BlueRay in the post can't be beaten
I had an offer with one of those daily deal companies. £6 for 3 months unlimited streaming and 2 films at home. I really enjoyed it, even though I do not watch many films. However, once you have had one 'offer' you cant sign up for the free month or any other daily deal offer.
It worked really well for me and saw films I wouldnt necessarily watch and caught up on some that I had wanted to see. However, the very latest films are only available if you pay extra...per film. Not fair!
Had this service streaming to my pc. But why can't you run it through apple tv? That's why no 5 stars.
i love the fact choose my films online and then they are sent to me to watch at home. I dont have to travel to and from a shop to pick up and drop off dvd, just a short walk across the road to post box
Have subscribed to LoveFilm for a couple of years now and although I've had a problem viewing a small percentage of films rented from them, they have either refunded my money, sent another copy, or sent another film from my wish list. You can add or delete new titles from your list at any time and they also freeze your account while you're away on holiday if you let them know.
You can keep a film as long as you need it and once you send it back another film is on your doorstep within a couple of days.
You make up your wish list.
Return when you've watched it and then the next one arrives, and also no late fees!
I have been with lovefilm now for over 4 years and they are one of the very best companies for customer service they almost bend over backwards to help and solve any problems you may have .
They are the most reliable and trustworthy company i have ever dealt with . customer service is without a doubt the best and i would highly recommend them to anyone Thanks
Old films, no recent ones - needs updating. will be much better if updated. canceled to go to a competitor!

After having unlimited subscription if you have anything on your list forget about an easy cancel process as if you have anything at home they won't cancel and if you send the discs back they allocate you another! So even though you don't have any movies at home they will say "well they're on its way", thiefs I will say, not impressed at all and never again ! NOT RECOMMENDING to ANYONE!
They need to add to genres - War Films, for instance
I really wouldn't bother, I know some people find it brilliant, but not me!
We signed up to LoveFilm Instant last night, and I have never dealt with a company that successfully managed to get me to sign up and cancel my account within 5 minutes.
I decided to signup to their Instant service, since we use an XBox for most of our entertainment, such as music, etc. They had a nice offer (3 months for £4.99) so we decided to give it a try.
Firstly, the frustration started with their website: it was slow as hell, and we had to try to sign up three times. This was partly down to poor design ( I am a software developer, so I do this for living... ).
Then, after they took payment, we discovered that the Instant service doesn't have a fraction of the videos available to what's advertised. It has a very limited selection.
Next was the XBox app: terrible! It is really slow, and no matter what we searched for, the results kept on returning "LOST" for some unknown reason. Lost indeed.
The only reason we decided to try this again was because it is an Amazon company. But I fear that they do not share the same quest for quality service:
when I commented about the service on their Facebook account, they simply deleted it. No effort was made to engage with the customer.
We used to use their DVD service a few years ago, and that was good, but the Instant account is a total waste of money.
I would not recommend this service to my worst enemy.

I've been using Lovefilm for several years, and have been generally very pleased with the service. The MAJOR problem with Lovefilm is that they are unable to offer many of the titles from Universal Studios.
For that reason alone I have just switched to Blockbuster online.
Very happy with LoveFilm, I cancelled my SkyMovies and worked out I was spending about £16 a month with blockbusters. I get all my movies from LoveFilm now, get 3 blurays at a time as well as unlimited streaming online through PC or PS3 or Xbox.
When you have finished with your blurays or DVD's, just pop them in the post free of charge, and so far my next orders have arrived in two days, excellent service. All for £13.39 a month
Poor customer services, I am a longstanding customer, any problems get the same standard letter saying sorry, they send replacement disk, they say all disks are "checked" answer why then do cracked or scratched disks that won't play arrive, went to cancel service told I had to wait until the end of the month could not do it until then.
Love films then use lovefilm, great postal rental service and online streaming, have been using for over a year and cannot fault it, costs me about 80p a rental, well run by amazon
TOK MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT FOR 4 MONTHS WITHOUT ME KNOWING, HAD TO GET THE BANK TO GET IT BACK FROM THEM (SUCCESSFULLY).
BUY A VIDEO MUCH CHEAPER, MOST OF THE FILMS ON THERE ARE OLD ANYWAY OR HAVE BEEN ON TV.
