If you want anything for your workshop go to M/c Mart, not everything is top quality but it will do what you want it do and you will not get better value for money. They also have a technical department to advise you if you have a problem.
Machine mart stocks some of the tools that are hard to get hold of sometimes esp on a Sunday when all other tool shops are shut.
As a professional joiner & self employed i need to be able to buy adequate tools 7 days a week.
For the bigger tools/machines I always buy the best quality, unfortunately for you it's better to go online & use someone like D&M tools as i did recently to buy a Dewalt planer for £400, nearly £100 cheaper than yours even though i rang your office to see if you could match the price.
I'll still use Machine mart when the time comes for the right occasion or tool, Thanks
The 150L 3hp compressor I bought from Machine Mart is substantial kit that lives up to its expectations. It has a reasonably quiet motor and pump and provides plenty of air for supplying a grit blasting cabinet and spraying. Its made from good qaulity material and is a conventitional belt driven design that looks like it will last the test of time. Although already competatively priced, it was especially good value when bought on one of Machine Marts 'VAT free days'. Also bought a 20T bottle jack which has plenly of lifting power - used to jack up a 4T trailer loaded with stone no problem. You need to stand on it to return the piston, but I'm sure this will get easier once its been used a few times. Recommended!
My MIG welder recently suffered a terminal and I mean fatal attack of entropy.
As a retired technology teacher of more years than I care to admit, not having welding equipment ranks right up there with loosing your trousers in public.
Guess who came to the rescue with a welder that scored best in 'Practical Classic' magazine?
I have dealt with 'MM' for years both privately and professionally and have always acquired machines capable of the tasks required and at reasonable cost.
I regularly shop at Machine Mart, both online and at the shop. I travel to the shop (20 miles away) if I am unsure about a product as there is always someone who knows what it is I am trying to find out, and who points me in the right direction when making choices between items, and that is not just suggesting the most expensive item. The after sales service is also excellent. I have only used it once but contacted Machine Mart online and when I got to the shop everything was already set up and the staff were expecting me. I would recommend anyone to include Machine Mart in their selection of suppliers when making a purchase.
I was not satisfied with your service = it took 2 calls to your carrier for delivery but at the end of the day it was not their fault it was yours not despatching it on the time you said
I needed to replace my mig welder in a hurry and something I could afford, the wire feed speed controller broke down on mine
After calling several places I found that Machine Mart had one to match my pocket (a return) in their shop in Llansamlett, Swansea, S Wales, I spoke with the sales people and tech people via the telephone, explaining what I was trying to do and the problem with my machine, so on their advice I drove to the store looked it over and after speaking with the sales person for some time explaining my project and what I was using the welder for, left the store feeling confident I could get home and start doing the welding. Alas not, I try and try, then resort to looking for tips and techniques on line, tried all the ones that seemed to be good still no joy with the welder, (weld just piles up on surface of steel grrr) so I start looking at forums to see if there is any help or advice, eventually find few people commenting on the welder I bought n saying the XXXXXXX would only just about weld 3mm steel DUH I'm trying to weld steel of 5-6mm, then I checkout the manufactures web site only to find the welder I'd been sold is only good to weld up to 4mm, (baring in mind forums don't agree with the welders performance). So the sorry tale begins, I phone MachineMart explaining what I had learned about the welder , I should mention the welder was sold to me with out any kind of spec sheet or manual so I was relying on advice from MachineMart staff to guide me.
MachineMart say the welder has to go back to store to be tested, Ok I say but even if the welder is working as it should it will not do the job I bought it for, They will not give me a refund only a credit note to spend in their store, after all the bother and aggravation I'm not sure I'm ever going walk over their threshold again.
On this occasion I am not at all satisfied with the out come so far, but I am fighting and shall keep fighting for my money to be returned to me, you can e-mail me if you wish for further details firstname.lastname@example.org
My only criticisms of Machine Mart are that sometimes you have to hunt through stock to find an item that is properly packaged or does not lookslightly soiled.
The staffing levels are also a bit 'lean'. Often the phone rings for ages as the staff are all busy with shop customers.
Apart from tha I have always enjoyed the Machine Mart experience. Product quality is adequate for the purpose, pricing is keen, staff are generally very helpful and items are nearly always in stock or can be sourced very quickly.
Ordering my chainsaw was easy, delivery prompt and thoughtful. I was out but the goods left with a neighbour. My problem came when the chainsaw instruction specified that the warranty would be void if I did not use Bosch bio-degradable chainsaw oil to lubricate the chain. I went to my local Machine Mart shop in Swindon only to be told they did not stock this oil. I now have to search around for a supplier.
If this was made clear to me at time of purchase I would have gone to a one-stop shop where I could purchase all I needed to begin sawing promptly after delivery. As yet I am still waiting to purchase the oil so I can use the saw.
Have dealt with Machine Mart over 20 years, never had a problem, number one choice when we need equipment.
I own my own maintenance company, its great because it means I need to buy lots of tools and equipment. My Mum once said to me STOP buying tools you wont use them all. That was 20 years ago and guess what I am still buying them now just cannot help my self. Machine Mart is a great shop, one stop tool shop. Hope to own it one day. Ha
top team, in a top branch, working for a top company.
nothing too much trouble, very good al round service.
I found the Derby shop very helpful if they ani,t got they will try and get for you as soon as and if you ask them for a brand of tool and they don,t carry that brand they will try and match or better that brand and are always helpful with advice it would be nice to see some Kreg Tools from Kreg at machine Mart but I trust Machine Mart if you want something basic they will help if you want something heavy duty they will help what more can say. there just that good
I have over the past 18 years bought many things from machine mart and the local manager in the city centre brach in Coventry has become a friend who I can trust, i have equiped an extensive garage woprksop fom Machine Mart., I enjoy looking round as the manger always remembers my name and is intersted in whatever old car i am restoring at the time. So if you want any thing for your workshop look in their catalogue first or better still go to the shop.
I have, both for my business, and for myself, used Machine mart for many, many years now, and with only two faulty tools, these being rectified quickly. I always get friendly service, and my main source of tools is the above and I will continue to return whenever new items are needed.
Life is also made a lot easier because the staff know what things are, and where they are. I give Machine Mart (Portsmouth) top marks.
Whent to machine mart in Carlisle to tool up for a new job on monday.
Arrived with a big list waiting for the dreaded "no we havent got that one in stock".
Not only was everything in stock but got some excellent advice on changing a few items for heavier duty ones with a minimal price difference.
There are always such good offers at Machinemart, you hardly ever have to pay full price - they recently gave the opportunity to shop VAT free on Clarke products which are really good quality - that's a whacking twenty percent off already bargain prices! Stick with Machinemart - they're your machine mates!
I purchased a Inverter Generator specifically for a weekend away with friends.
Arrived at the camp site only to find that the generator was supplied with out any oil in the engine. There was no notice in the Catalogue saying 'requires oil before use'. I can understand that the engine would be transported with no oil but at this price, one would have expected the correct quantity and grade of oil would be supplied ready to be put into the engine.
So off we go to the nearest garage and purchase some oil.
Filled up to the correct level with oil.
Filled the petrol tank up only to find that the petrol tap was leaking petrol BADLY. There was no option but to drain the fuel out and spend the weekend with no power.
Stripping the unit down when we got home showed that the petrol tap had not been correctly riveted over allow a large gap where the seal was.
This only goes to show that these units can not be tested before sale and the quality control is not that good.
Machine Mart did supply a new tap which has now been fitted.
We have not had the chance to use this generator yet!
machine mart has all the tools I need as a mechanic and delivers them perfectly and quick each time I order from there, which means I have the tools in my hand ready for when I need them if you're a mechanic and need tools then go machine mart.
Fair prices, goods work as described, and quality good enough for tools and equipment to last . I try to plan purchases when they have the VAT free / discount offers on.
Ive bought toolds from them before that have broke first time they are used. To get your money back is a nightmare as they only want to give you a credit note instead of your money back. I will never buy anything from them again and I have many years in the Motor Trade.
When you walk in to Machine Mart you don't even need to know the name of the tool you are looking for! You tell them what you want to do and they advise on what tools can do the job. They don't try to sell you the most expensive option either.
Top notch service.
