If i had the money, will come back here.
My parents had a package stolen from their front door. Under their own watch. They were on their way to grab the package, seeing how it had just been delivered 3 minutes ago, when a car pulled up and grabbed their holiday package. Macys, upon recovering a faxed police report, resent everything to them. Free of charge. Incredibly nice, and 300 dollars worth of nice. I find little respect in big box retailers, but this was astounding! Especially since my parents did not have the finances to purchase these gifts again. Very nice. Greatly respectable.
I received the wrong pair of shoes in an online order. I called to make them aware of the problem and ask for a free shipping label for a return. After going through a few people, the phone lines didn't work on one, the girl tells me that I will have to pay the shipping if I want to mail it back. WHAT?! I have done a lot of online ordering over the years and NO company has ever made me pay for their mistake. I will never shop through Macy's online again -- and probably won't go in store again either. I have other options for companies who care about doing the right thing. Macy's obviously does not.

I like the selection and the sales they always run. Customer service is lacking.
We recently had a HORRIBLE experience trying to buy a mattress at the Home Store. We went down to Macy's to look at mattresses during a mattress and bedding sale and decided to buy on of their higher-end mattresses for our home. (the mattress was over $6000)
First, the mattress could not be delivered for over 2 weeks (they said they don't keep mattresses in stock....what???). Their delivery times were very inconvenient for our work schedules, but they would not budge. They only offered two delivery times in a month.
We bought the mattress with every assurance from the sales staff that we would receive it as scheduled. Macy's staff then somehow managed to deliver the WRONG MATTRESS THREE TIMES!!!!!!
Their "customer care" staff (that I would describe as "customer I don't care" staff) was totally detached and even very rude most of the time, and did not do anything to address the real problem, that the mattress we had purchased was not being delivered.
The Macy's Home Store manager was absolutely useless!! She made promises to us that she would solve the problem, like talking to the warehouse manager, calling the manufacturer, etc., and then obviously did nothing!.
For some reason, they could not understand that the floor model mattress was not the one being delivered to our home. (I learned later that it is evidently common practice for Macy's to leave older models of mattresses and furniture on the sales floor in spite of the fact that the manufacturer may not have that model any longer)
The mattress they kept trying to deliver (at great inconvenience to us, as my wife had to take off work each day to come home to meet the delivery guys) seemed much cheaper and less well made than the mattress we had paid for. (it looked pretty "standard" except for the fabric, and was only 12 inches thick and when the mattress we ordered was over 15 inches thick) We even went back to the store with pictures of the mattress and the mattress tags that were attached to the one delivered, and nobody seemed to care or feel the need to investigate the problem. We checked the tag on the mattress we had picked out and ordered in the store, and it did not match the one in our home.
When we pointed that out to the sales staff they claimed for some crazy reason that "it doesn't matter what is on the tag." What????
They seemed to only care about losing their sales commissions. They obviously did not care to spend enough time to help us. The sales staff (or Home Store manager) would not even actively take charge in any way. They made us call "customer care' ourselves (which, by the way, is in Florida....it might as well be in India....) and they would not even allow us to talk with the Supervisor of the Home Store Manager. He was always "in conference" somewhere or "unavailable." We left messages for him and our calls were never returned.
After our second botched delivery, it was starting to seem like a classic "bait and switch." Sell them the expensive mattress, but try to deliver the cheap one. Maybe they won't notice.......
When we finally decided we had enough and that we wanted to return the mattress, they made it as painful and inconvenient as possible. it turned into a screaming match on the telephone before they finally reneged and allowed us to send back the mattress. Even then, the refund to our credit card had to be "approved" and it has still not come through days later!
In the meantime, after returning our mattress, we had NOTHING to sleep on because they had taken away our old mattress at the first delivery!
We will NEVER buy another thing from Macy's!!!! I did not want to give even a "one star" rating for them!!
Go buy your mattress at a mattress store (like Mattress Warehouse). You will get a high quality mattress that will likely be in stock and will be delivered the next day!
Just go somewhere else to buy furniture or bedding!!
Macy's always has a great selection of items online, and the shipping is free if you order over $100 worth of stuff, but the shipping time can be pretty slow and I've had customer service issues that took forever to resolve because it's really hard to get ahold of the correct person when you try to call and talk to their customer service department. I will of course continue to buy from Macy's because of their selection and the prices, but I wish their customer service was a little better.
Macy's telephone customer service is the worst I've ever encountered! To speak to a human being, you have to go through a gauntlet of 4 customer service 'menus'. All of these menus are automated. I spoke clearly and distinctly and the system could not understand my responses at all. When I finally got to a person, I was told that the system was down and they could not help me for at least an hour. I requested a direct number to be able to talk to a person and was told that did not exist. When I got mad, they asked what color my charge card was and gave me a number based on the color of my card. When I called that number I was told they could not help me for 30 minutes. Two hours later, I called again, had to go through the whole menu system again and after 20 minutes was finally able to speak to a human. This person finally accessed my account and took care of the overage charges, then tried to sell me on using my card for extra purchases!
I call with a customer service problem, which had my husband so mad he wanted to cancel the card, and they try to sell me on using it more to get 'points'.
I think they need to get the point...give customers prompt, accessible customer service!!!
Incomplete orders, paid priority shipping and was told I would receive complete order 5 days later. It is Macy's responsibility to ship correct full orders. I paid for a service and product that was not rendered! Customer service was horrible, it took 30 min to get a representative on the phone. The representative told me to try stores around my location to exchange the item. I ordered it online for a reason. Basically, alyia the supervisor made it clear it was my problem now. Thanks Macy's. Will never use this site again. Highly unrecommended.
I tend to like shopping online, especially when I can't get to the store. It helps to read carefully the description of items and I also enlarge to see details. The helps to decide I want to buy the item or not. The few times I did have to return an online, I have been able to do so with ease in the store. In store the employees definitely make me feel that I am important to them.
I just got back from Macy's and I shop there for everything. I just bought some fragrances and sheets. I would recommend Macy's to all my friends for everyday shopping. I especially like hitting up the clearance rack for some great deals.
My family and I are Michael Kors fans, and we have bought several handbags at Michael Kor's stores. It just so happened that this Christmas we bought Michael Kors handbags at Macy's. Adrianna Kniep would call to let me know when a specific handbag was on sale and in addition, would advise me to other handbags of Michael Kors. My family and I spent over $1,400 in the handbag department with her help. This point further when we buy handbags we will go to Macy's and work with Adrianna Kniep.
I bought a dress on a Friday afternoon (orig $80, got it for $24) online and needed it for the next weekend. They list on the website when an order will ship based on when you ordered it, and then note that it takes 1-5 days after ship date to receive it. Well, I decided to cut it close-in fact, I only gave myself 1-4 days, hoping that it would come in that time.
However, when I got my confirmation email, it projected that it would ship a day later (Wed) than listed on the site. I called customer service, and they were amazing and dealt with my issue to my complete satisfaction!
I just got off the phone now, and while I've never shopped at Macy's before (save perfume), I was amazed at their deals and the customer service alone makes me a new lifetime shopper!
My wife was robbed in a macys bathroom. Local store didn't know what to do but say they were sorry. Corporate just blew off the incident also. You want to get robbed, go to macys and sit on one of their toilets. It's not safe to shop at macys. Oh, fall down outside of macys, they show up and take your picture. macys is a safety hazard.
The other day we had our family portrait taken for Christmas. My wife wore a blouse that she had bought at Macy's. She bought it at least 4 years ago and according to her was still stylish and it looked brand new. She wouldn't tell me what she paid for it, lol but honestly it's in such great shape after all these years it's worth what she paid. I have a few dress shirts my wife bought for me and they were all under $20! Macy's apparently has great sales too!
It's actually funny how much money Macy makes off me because they are set up to accept credit card payments at any register! I pay my card off in full each month, but I also purchase more clothes with their credit card coupons while I'm in the store making that payment! It's just smart business and I like associating with smart people :)
I was one of the original Macy's in Herald Square shoppers from New York. For the last few years I've seen their retail stores go downhill and it's sad.
In my few shopping experiences with them, I've wound up shopping elsewhere as their online prices are not competitive at all.
the La Cumbre Store in Santa Barbara seriously lacks in customer service, and choice in latest trends and fashions. I was very dissapointed to see that the sales person had absolutely no idea what the store is carrying and to find out that they didn;t carry long skirts at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long skirts are the trend this year, and they have none.
I can always find my favorite clothes at Macy's due to their huge selection and very competitive pricing.
I searched all over the internet for a tall specific looking Nutcracker Soldier. I searched from the the UK websites to America and other parts of Europe. I found exactly what I was looking for at Macy's. I was a little worried as a long way to transport such a toy to the UK and within a couple of weeks the wooden wonder turned up, packaged and safe and sound. The payment system was easy and transferred directly. Thank You Macy for making a christmas wish come true!
I shop Macy's, have shopped Macy's ever since I can remember. It is my basic department store I have always gone to first. I like their selection of items, love their sales, and actually used to work as a sales person some years ago. I have moved to an area that doesn't have a Macy's store so what do I do? Buy on line, of course!
Last week I bought a bunch of cosmetics at Macys, like Estee Lauder creams etc. They are expensive, you know but when the time of pay came I was charged with $0.10 for the paper bag!! they say is the city of San Jose policy. Wow they cannot absorb 10 cents!! poor Macy's!!
As I was at the Valley Fair Mall,I went to the Godiva store andI bought some chocolates . My tab there was $10.00 and I have free samples and I was not charged for the Bag .
Too bad Macy's.
I love Macy's. They used to be classier and some of their merchandise is more generic--they used to be more like Nordstrom's, but now they consider JCPenny a competitor. I'm not sure why the company is going that direction, but I'm still a loyal shopper.
Last weekend my husband and I purchased a comforter set from a Macy's Department Store. The comforter was wrapped in a vinyl zip wrap and as soon I I got home, I opened it - and as soon as I opened the package, it smelled like 30 smokers were in the bag (both my husband and I are ex-smokers). The workers are clearly smoking in the storeroom. I contacted customer service through their website and still haven't heard back. Thank goodness I didn't spend more money there... I now know to shop locally for such items so they can be easily returned. Check out everything before you leave the store......... lesson learned!
